Which legal system you talking about? There are lots of different legal system and in many of them this is not abusing the system but the system itself and most local people agree with it.

I'm aware of the controversy around the Muslim Brotherhood, but that's something the egyptians themselves have to deal with. Now we are talking about this coin and I think this is something this community can and should deal with. I think this coin asking for BCX's attention...  Wink

Someone riding the wave and by copying Vlad2Vlads idea about the religious coins trying to make some money. I guess the dev isn't muslim.

"...promote sharia law worldwide."

No, thanks. We have our more or less working set of laws.

Thanks. To be honest I've expected something more practical stuff, e.g. "PXC/FTC/WDC now accepted on Silkroad and Antlantis" or something like this Smiley. BTW the direction is good let's see how it will develop Smiley.

3511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in MMOs (or other video games) on: July 10, 2013, 05:35:12 PM
IMO bitcoin is not the best choice as it's (not now, but usually) too expensive, slow, and micro transactions are less and less welcomed.

Everything in your last sentence is the opposite of truth however I would assume you know that and simply have an agenda.

Two weeks ago 1 btc was around $120 two month ago it was around $250... I think only the real nerds would be happy to pay let's say 0.1 btc for the green potion, 0.15 for the red one and 3 BTC for God's Very Own gold plated sword Smiley.

Last time when I sent funds to btc-e it took more than 40 minutes getting all confirmations. I can imagine as with my friends we hammering the enemy stronghold but we are short on both ammo and BTC and we suddenly need more funds...

Since 0.8.2 there are lots of talks about blocking or "taxing" micro transactions.

So which one is "the opposite of truth"?

This happening right now, but they using an altcoin instead of bitcoin. Take a look at CraftCoin:

...and what about the TimeKoin and Qubic devs? I believe a new generation of coins will be based on this two experiments.
3516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin backed by torrent files on: July 09, 2013, 08:15:23 AM
Yes, this is a pretty good idea. Mixing TimeKoin/eMunie(?) with Qubic sounds like an almost perfect solution for me.
3517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Neat feature, any alts want to try it? on: July 09, 2013, 08:08:47 AM
Two of the main features of all these coins are anonymity and untraceability. By using this proposed feature we would instantly give up both for somewhat improved security. I would chose other solutions for securing my wallet.

Scrypt uses SHA256

Oops! That's true.
3519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Market Appeal Coin - SantaCoin on: July 08, 2013, 12:01:19 PM
Snail2, correct the Launch and then how you market it is crucial.  You have to be generous and offer people things they've never gotten from their money before.

Like I said before - there's nothing to produce - no overhead, so you can be generous and even if you give away 40% on marketing you still have a huge successful business plan.

Sorry. This is BS. You can make as much hype as you want around your new coins if there are no pressure/demand for your coin. Even if I'm catholic why on the earth I should start messing with your catholiccoin if I can make my offerings in the church with ease and I can buy any kind of religious stuff if I want? Same thing applies to soccer...

Your chosen market segment what you targeting should be an existing one with considerable demand for your service... and your service should be something what a lot of people really needs.

An example: In Iran lots of people struggling because of the high inflation rate, many of them sees bitcoin as a loophole where their money can escape inflation and their own government, but they having difficulties with getting bitcoin and funding their accounts because of the US export regulations and the UN sanctions. There's a high demand, a lot of potential customers but no solution. So let's make a coin what using a not regulated strong crypto algo, wrap communications it into I2P or Tor, translate the client to Farsi, bring the coin to a Russian or Chinese exchange, make a big marketing hype and start spreading it between the Iranian diaspora or in Iran if you can. Wham! You will have more than 80 million potential customers very soon, many of them eager to use your coin. You fulfilled an existing demand, you made a couple of people's life easier and you can get rich as well.

3520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Market Appeal Coin - SantaCoin on: July 08, 2013, 10:01:41 AM
I don't see anyone but techies buying coins for their features and most features can be turned on at any point via a hard fork so its not really a big issue.

If people bought coins for their features then PPcoin would be $80 and Bitocoin would be 20 cents.

When the masses come in next year they're gonna buy into ideas that either sound good or ideas they agree with.  Some will buy a coin just cause it sounds cool or its associated with someone famous or has a good rep.  Hardly anyone is gonna ask well, does this one waste less energy than this one and are the transactions on this one faster than on bitcoin.

So I'm all about adding good features but when it comes to bringing in the masses, most will not care nor understand all the tech talk, they'll just want to make some money on a speculative coin like bitcoin and if they can do it while investing in a great or cool coin then that's even better.

And that's what I'm trying to come up with - an instant hit, something most people would like off the bat.

Good point. Especially liked the feature comparison between PPC and BTC Smiley.

As we can see in the case of CraftCoin, targeting a market segment is a good idea, but a name worth nothing without some related "real world" services.
E.g. You can use your CatholicCoin for buying indulgences, with your BSpearsCoin you can get 5% cheaper brain implantation or 10% off on bleach, etc...
