35001  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: October 07, 2015, 10:17:19 PM
I do      .55 x 125 =               68.75

why?  it is the least amount of keys to enter on a calculator.

I then type in freq = 6.875gh in the chart.  just moving the decimal place cause I know a stick cant do 68.75

Technically   entering

.055 x 125 = 6.875  is  correct   but it is not faster and the chart has  10 plus entries.

My bad since I did not explain it exactly.

I think you mean 5.5% of frequency?  Checking the math it comes out to 5.5 at least.
The ASIC's clock -> Gh/s multiplier is 55.  100MHz * 55 = 5500MHz -> 5.5Gh/s
So 5.5% is correct..albeit off by a factor 1,000 Smiley
You're adding an extra step or two to make 55% work, no need to mess around with 1000MHz = 1GH/s conversion like you did..  If you look at the list Phil posted earlier, which I've quoted and editted below, you take the frequency and multiply by 0.055 (5.5%) you get the hash in GH/s.

Quote
125 freq * 0.055 =  6.875  gh
150 freq * 0.055 =  8.250  gh
175 freq * 0.055 =  9.625  gh
200 freq * 0.055 = 11.000 gh
225 freq * 0.055 = 12.375 gh
250 freq * 0.055 = 13.750 gh
275 freq * 0.055 = 14.135 gh
etc.

I was thinking it might also be fun to keep track of who currently has the "best share" reported by the club's address.
As of this post the best reported share is 51,471,144.  This belongs to philipma1957donation.

Strange, though, because FinksySticks shows a higher best share of 65 million, what gives?
Maybe the /users/ one gets reset, but /worker/ does not?  ck might have to answer that.  Right now FinksySticks doesn't show nearly that high of a best share.
Yes you're right. It wasn't intentional, but an oversight on my part that workers' best share doesn't reset along with the rest. Might not be such a bad thing...
It's not showing that high of a share because it reset at some point, probably after a solo solve yesterday?  But if ck says worker best share does not reset then I don't know how else to explain the discrepancy.

I went with the Ant Miner S3+. So far I am learning a lot and happy with it. I wish it was a little quieter, but that's not a big deal. The price was right too.

okay here is a safe easy mod  add the silverstone  141 fan to the side that does not have the externet jack.

look at this screen shot  I will post it in 1 min

see the silverstone spins at  1000  vs 2000
if you set at freq 200 and never change it is possible
it will be quiet .
as to your question can you switch from 100 to 225 yeah but don't
go under freq 150  .  it will be good enoguh   and with the silverstone 141 at amazon it will be quiet

look at my fan speeds below

I have purchased 10 of these from him over the last 3 years of mining

35006  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Any way to run a spondoolies type machine off of one 220v cord? on: October 07, 2015, 05:12:04 PM
It's a 50 amp plug, wired to run a welder.

buy a used pdu like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/295363-002-Compaq-220-240V-Power-Distribution-Unit-High-Voltage-PDU-/271328088724?hash=item3f2c6a1294

make an adapter for the plug.  you should be good to go
35007  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: China is going to produce container-sized 1 PETAHASH/S BTC mining machine. on: October 07, 2015, 05:10:17 PM
15 cent a G for a 50% ownership interest for a complete unit is a pretty good price,

and the math for that is really the same as 30 cents a gh for 100%

and I can buy an s-7 for  1585 shipped to my home    which is 33 cents a gh.

so you are correct in that is is not insanely priced.

but it is not a bargain.

23 or 24 cents would be better.

in one of your Picture not shown here  i saw a USB thingie with digital numbers on it what was that i want one.
these search terms will yield many such devices: USB Meter or USB Tester
e.g. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=usb+meter
There's basic models like the 7-segment ones, slightly fancier ones like that white one with the LCD (I've got one of those) and somewhat expensive but feature-riddled ones.

this is mine

I had powered it off and on several times thinking that I wasn't giving the blades long enough before turning on the controller, because bitmain says it matters.  It always showed all 3 blades were good.

hard power resets are not a good idea.  try software rebooting

I have a thread on it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1196671.0

I now  get 4775 to 4825.  I do a software reset every 2 days or so.

 1) click system
 2) click reboot  this does not reboot it takes you to step 3.
 3) click reboot  this reboots.

Takes about 2 minutes to reboot.  check stats a few times. in the next hour or so.  once the hour is up

if your hw reads more then 0.11   chances are the reboot did not do the job
if your hw reads  less the 0.02   chances are the reboot will help hash rate

I agree; upon their return they will probably adjust the price up.

They have done it many times in past.  They really should price in BTC as it seems to be a BTC price they have in mind.    If they bring in less btc with price rising... sadly it get's higher a lot of times.

If their site does go to 245 or so and you can get a 100 off coupon, I predict it's the lowest price you will get for a while if you can do that before they raise price.

if you really live and die on the site once in a while shifts  can come along and help.

okay here are 20 sticks at freq 250 for more then 23 hours

one iffy   by iffy 100 hw out of 82000      which is under  .12 percent

 19 perfect   not bad.

the stud hub on the left has the best 5volt psu for efficiency  (90% rating rated for 150watts with no cooling 200 watts with cooling)  but it has to be outside the stud hub. So I pulled the board and built a platform to mount it all.

 I am running 15 sticks

the stud hub with 5 sticks  has an 85% psu rated for 130 watts

temps are 81 f

power for the 2 hubs = 128watts

Guys I'm being a dummy. I'm looking for the chart that compares frequency to GH but I can't find it. Even in the Google! If someone has the link i'd appreciate it.

sidehack sticks do 55%     of freq

so

125 freq =  6.875  gh
150 freq =  8.250  gh
175 freq =  9.625  gh
200 freq = 11.000 gh
225 freq = 12.375 gh
250 freq = 13.750 gh
275 freq = 14.135 gh
300 freq = 16.500 gh
325 freq = 17.875 gh
350 freq = 19.250 gh
375 freq = 20.625 gh
400 freq = 22.000 gh

I run 20 sticks at freq 250 I should do 275gh  I am doing about 272gh

That's a good point. I'm running my SP20 with free electricity, which I guess is why I wasn't thinking along those lines. S3s are a lot less hungry power wise than the PS20, so they do make more sense for solo mining.

It would cost me about $86 a month to run an S3 at my house during the summer, that's a lot to spend on lottery tickets!  I can justify it in the winter when I need the heat, but even the S3 is pretty expensive to run just as a solo machine if you pay high rates like I do.

In the winter from Nov 1  to  Mar 1 they make sense.
