3521  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I decide to buy miners from this website on: December 15, 2015, 01:22:43 AM
I find in this website miners very cheap price

Anyone tried them or have information about them

Decided to buy from them .....any risk ?

http://septriya.com/

Look at the prices... there is no way.  A 5 dollar U3?  Yes please... I want new U3 for that.  And I will sell for 10.

I mean it is a obvious scam.  If something seems to good to be true.... it is.
3522  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 15, 2015, 01:20:46 AM
If one entity can add enough hash to raise difficulty by 21%, I don't know if there is a lot of reason to make that two 10% steps, or a single step of 21%.
The sooner they are hashing the more money you will make.

I think the timing of introducing LARGE amounts of hash power is something that they consider.  The longer you can mine at a lower difficulty the better your bottom line is.  I'm sure there's an analysis a large ASIC company can perform to show them just how much hash to add how fast in order to maximize their return.  When you are adding hundreds of petahash you better be looking at stuff like this or you're dumb at business.
It really is all just a race to mine as many coins as they can before the halving.  Other than running profit numbers on effieciency right now, I really just think their intent is to get as much out of the next 7 months as they can before assessing where the price of BTC is at post halving.

I think it always has been a race between companies.   This has not changed only change was the companies seem to change sometimes.

Also right now companies are trying to make money with newer chips that they likely spent a ton on R/D.  So  getting it out quick and first is a good way to pay off that R/D cost.
3523  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $1500 budget, im torn in choices on miners on: December 15, 2015, 01:17:43 AM
I would go with the S7 over the S5. Price is good at the moment for a batch 8 and if the difficulty keeps on the way it is, even if we hold $440 an S5 on 5c electricity will barely be making money after the Halving.

Rich

I would agree that new miners will have better resell value.  Which can be important.   Most miners like me I think mine with it till it is not as profitable, then sell to someone with lower or free electricity  Most miners have multiple owners I think in their life.

Only other thing is with free if you get a deal on old it can be better.  Depends on pay per T/GH if you do get a good deal and can ROI quick old can be good for "free"
3524  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Hands On] KeepKey Hardware Wallet - Notlist3d on: December 15, 2015, 01:08:20 AM
Nice review! Thanks for doing this! I still do prefer my Trezor though!

Nevertheless more options we have it's better and competition from all of the sides is what will push us into the progress that will propel the Bitcoin technology upwards!

Thank you! And honestly I appreciate all feedback about all hardware wallets.  Telling me your wallet/favorite features of your hardware wallet you have really is great info!

So thanks again to all who have shared.
3525  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Hands On] KeepKey Hardware Wallet - Notlist3d on: December 14, 2015, 06:01:25 PM
Really I like the design of KeepKey and with the screen is quite large for a hardware wallet. Tongue

But the price its still really high for hardware wallet, but it seems I was interested to buy it next year.

I'm really enjoying it.  It was my first entry into the hardware wallet area.  I was a strong paper wallet supporter.

But I have to admit using one has made me like hardware wallets a lot.  I think it's really a think you need to try to appreciate.  I knew the advantages on specs... but trying it really is a whole different thing.
3526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoins with Personal Checks? on: December 14, 2015, 04:57:11 PM
Can checks be revoked? That would be bad because you can't get back your bitcoins right?

You're fine after it clears, which is why this is a kind of an issue. It takes time to clear, so this would be a very slow way to buy bitcoins. Therefore its going to be a very unpopular way of doing it.

Not necessarily true there are a few possibility's that might be rare but can happen.  Say someone is writing checks and forging name of someone else might pass... and person notice on billing cycle.

There are other ones two.  But yes clearing does help with most issues.
3527  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal vs. Bitcoin in the Marketplace on this forum on: December 14, 2015, 04:54:59 PM
Be very careful before using paypal.  I would be more worried about scams then name being known.

Sadly many paypal transactions can be reversed.  BTC sending cannot.... so it's way to easy to be scammed.
3528  Economy / Services / Re: I want $500/1.5[btc] on: December 14, 2015, 04:52:17 PM
Instead of asking for a loan but give me the negative trust I now want an online job that pays this kind of money. If the job is able to pay this kind of money in around 3 months then plz tell me. This is enough money for me to start my venture and becoem more productive with my life. Plz do tell I really need the money/ bitcoin.

You need skills or something to trade for the bitcoin.  Begging for help is not going to work.  There is no easy quick way.... there isn't it's money.

With asking for a loan your account is pretty much going to look bad and hurt you in future.  My best advice make sure you stop asking for loan, and ask the people if you stopping asking for loan get's rid of negative.  And chances are it won't ... but I would try it if it was me.
3529  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 14, 2015, 04:46:47 PM
That's why I asked if the hash board is connected from top to bottom or left to right.  I can't open up the unit all the way but when I open it slightly, it look like the hashboard goes sideway left to right not top to bottom, hence why I connected it that way.  I would never connect more than 1 PSU  to the same Hashboard.  Either way I tested it for fun as I have full 90 days credit card protection if anything happens to the unit but I would not recommend anyone trying this.  After seeing how it behaved so badly, I think it's just best to wait to use the same PSU on both hashboards.  I have quite a few new PSU coming so I'm excited to test them out.  Still loving the Avalon 6, very solid box and so quiet.  Just need it's price to drop lower to be more competitive with the S7 so I can order 2 more.  I want to move 1 into the Living room and that will be a free heater.

Special Thanks to Phillip - He's been a great help in helping me pick the 2x2000W IBM PSU.  I love quiet PSU so I'm very excited to see how his testing goes for those PSU and whether he can get better HASH rates using them on the Avalon 6.  I'm sure he can as the voltage can be change.  I've ordered it based on his recommendation and the fan type.  It's definitely reviews from you guys that help us newbies, learn what gear is best for different people's need.

P.S just an update, the weather got cooler tonight and I can already see the hash rate drop from 3440 at 75 degree Ambient so the unit runs at 43 Degree C to 3380 hash rate as the ambient temperature drop to 60 and the unit is running at 38C.   No wonder why they let their ASIC run so hot.

I did not see that first time reading it through.  I went back and saw :

I just open the box and can see the hasboard are split top and bottom so the top 2 ports are of the same board.  I didn't open it all the way as it would ruin the warranty sticker.  I don't recommend anyone using different PSU as the Voltage is different and may cause issue.  I saw my machine show up as 13V and it wouldn't hash after 5 mins so I just change it back to the way it was before to avoid issues.

Just incase anyone else does it it's left side, and right side that are split. Each side has a hashing board.   Don't mix power between the two if using 2 PSU's.

If possible use 1 PSU for the entire unit.  If you are using multiple make sure you know what your doing as it could end up with bad results.

But happy you got yours going now.  The temp does seem to effect them.  I'm not to bothered by it I like them running cold personally I don't like pushing it hot.  But it seems those who do run hotter get a little more hash.

Well I tried to add this antrouter, but it seems to have a short in which it shocks you when you touch the sides.  Saddle it is going back Sad

Quoting for poster as he is newbie and does not show up since rank to low.
3531  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 14, 2015, 04:40:01 PM
Jeez...
It looks like it really might be a 20% difficulty jump this time.

I thought i would never see those kind of difficulty changes, anymore.

Good news is price broke into the 440's.  Right now where hitting 445.

So could be interesting to watch we might hit the 450 mark I have been wanting to see.  I think this difficulty will hurt but price will go up.
3532  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $1500 budget, im torn in choices on miners on: December 14, 2015, 04:38:41 PM
you may be better off with s5.  Just consider resale value too - what will an s5 be worth after halving ?  s7 ?

No one knows this it will depend on difficulty and BTC price.  If btc goes up... value of miners go up.

We will know it's worth more then a S3.   And less than a S7.  But as far as exact amount we wont know that.
3533  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITCOIN MINING SITE on: December 14, 2015, 04:37:11 PM
Yes you're right! Right now I have three S7s and they are running on solar and hydropower which's power is stored on batteries for night time. I live far from urban area and here is the right place to expand my site. I have solar panels which are on a 150sqF area and hyrdropower from the heavy river.

where are you in europe or usa?

@chek2fire - Europe

So the Solar + Hydro with Battery Storage is up and running? How much Solar &  Hydro Power can you generate?

Rich

Solar + Hydro if your doing it yourself will never end up being as cheap as cheap electricity.  I think you might be better off at a hosting center.

Some are no vat.  And it saves you from having to spend on long term investments like solar.
3534  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 14, 2015, 05:02:03 AM
I connected a HP 1000W PSU to the top 2 port and the EVGA G2 to the bottom 2 port and that's when the Avalon 6 shows 13V.  I should have the breakout boards for the DELL PSU next week so I'm excited to see the hash rate by then.  Also getting an Electrician to come out soon to add a 40 or 50AMP 240V outlet to my garage so I can play with the 2 x 2000W IBM PSU using Jabberwork boards.  I just ordered those PSU, breakout boards and fans.  Very excited about them as they're good for OC and are also very quiet based on the fan chosen.

Ohh wow I did not realize you meant doing that.  If your using 2 PSU's (which I do not suggest unless you know what your doing and risks).  But you plug the separate PSU's on left and right.... not top and bottom.  That is really bad it's mixing power from two PSU's in one blade.

If you did two on right from one psu, and two on left on other the hashing boards are only being powered by 1 PSU, not mixed.  Its hard to say what is going on when it had it mixed PSU's on top/bottom.  I'm just happy your miner is working great now.

These are good info to have in here for others.  if anyone else is using 2 PSU's they might want to read this.
3535  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Summer Mining - Fans/Other summer equipment on: December 14, 2015, 04:56:03 AM
Ok went ahead and installed to test it out. Yes I know it's winter Smiley but I wanted to test out for next summer or possibly turning off some other ones and using this.  I can say 24 inch to 36 inch is a LOT bigger.  Does not seem to big till you get it home.... and realize you have a beast.

But it puts out a ton of CFM's.   This is a Lowes only brand but really they seem to make this series for very high CFM which is good for miners.
3536  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Columbia Basin Mining - Land offer for Bitcoin Mining on: December 14, 2015, 04:36:08 AM
It still leaves things murky as different stories were told.  I keep asking as I seem to think there is something wrong, and I did find one for sure.

Are you willing to change original post and company policy where partner under no circumstances be farming it?  As if hes your expert and he also might be farming it is very big conflict.

Can you make it where it state's in documentation something like "No one involved with CBM will be allowed to farm the land due to conflict of interest.  If farmer who is going to farm is known by CBM management or team member the relationship must be shared to all investors, and give investors time to look into it before any deal is signed"

That would take away what I see as such a conflict.  And even knowing the person is shared with details to investors.

Updated the notes after review - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1283805.msg13208591#msg13208591

Some noticed it did not have that it was based off Trezor in review.  They did make some changes but there was a big benefit there.
3538  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SURVEY: How much bitcoins you have? on: December 14, 2015, 04:00:11 AM
literally the shortest survey i've ever done, OP if you dont mind me asking, what is this survey for?

It's for my research, that I`m doing about bitcoin distribution.

It is a very important research for me because I can get a lot of understanding about bitcoin this way, and in return I can help the bitcoin economy alot, with marketing programs, if I know the nature of the distributions.

Would blockchain.info's analysis chart not help figure that out? You're going to get response bias here.

Yes it would be much better most likely. I personally would not tell someone else my coin holdings..... there is really no good reason someone else needs to know mine.  Unless I'm buying off them and need to know I have it, or something such as that.

I suggest people not to share coin amount's. It's nothing against OP at all.  Just that this info is not good in wrong hands as it would make it easier to target larger holders with "bad things".
3539  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 14, 2015, 03:54:04 AM
Interesting note.  Ever since I shock the system with the PSU mix where it wasnt hashing and showing 13V and going back to just EVGA G2 at 12V, the box have been doing consistently 3.4TH, not sure if its' coincidental but I'm liking it.  Also I wouldn't recommend anyone using mix PSU that runs different voltage levels as it does make this box act weird and not hash.

I am kinda a believer in high quality PSU's and not mixing.   So I agree with your there. There are some that mix and think nothing about it.  I just figure why risk it for a little amount of money in scheme of miniing.

What PSU showed 13V?   Do you have a PSU tester to test it?  Sounds very odd on that.
3540  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks open. on: December 14, 2015, 03:44:37 AM
We are about 25 blocks away from closing the contest.

You have approximately until 5AM UTC / Midnight EST to post your guess if you haven't done so yet.

+15.7 = alfacro

Newbie members are not eligible, sorry.

It's far above my pay grade but I really suggest looking at keeping this rule on future ones aswell.  It just seems allowing newbie is to easy to game system.  Higher level does not make it perfect... but at least they had to put some time into it.

Still high 430's , 438 to be exact.  I'm hoping after change we see a jump to 450 but I don't know that it will happen.
