3521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin production on: March 24, 2021, 07:15:57 PM
Due to high level of energy consumption when mining bitcoin is there no other ways of producing bitcoin either by the use of computer or other means?
High level of energy consumption is not the reason, high specs required to mine bitcoins which are powered by high watts means they are spending electricity but do we actually need to worry about the electricity? which is abundant and can be manmade while we are still using petrol cars and trucks all the days. Shocked
3522  Other / Meta / Re: Question about 'lock topic' on: March 24, 2021, 02:52:22 PM
Probably off topic but wanted to ask this, when a mod locked a thread the user cannot unlock it which I know personally but when a mod moved a topic to the appropriate section the user can bring it back to the section where they wanted to be which is also supposed to be not possible to stop the abuse.
That is different because in certain cases one thread could potentially be posted in two different sub-forums. There are examples of beginners asking questions in the B&H section about a particular wallet or software. But, such a discussion could be fit for the Wallet software board under Development & Technical Discussion. But they are also acceptable in B&H. Sometimes they get moved, in other cases the admins leave them alone.

Mining discussions are a peculiar case. The moderation in the mining board is very strict, so you can see them all over the place.

Another example that I have noticed in local forums is that admins can move/merge/delete certain threads or posts because they don't know the local language, so they move them to the wrong section. One thread from the Croatian board was mistakenly moved to a completely different local section by mistake a few years ago. I can't remember the details right now. That's why it is a good idea to allow users to move threads elsewhere even if admins think otherwise. It wouldn't be bad to consult a staff member before doing it though.
But is it okay to move the thread back after that section mod moved it to the appropriate section, and the answer was given already by Global mod which may get them into a temp ban if they found doing it multiple times.

But local board is bit different and it is very rare to happen even though if a thread was moved to a wrong local board then the local mod of that section can move it to the right section for that we no need to give permissions to the users itself which can be potentially abused.
3523  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading, is it worth? on: March 24, 2021, 08:06:23 AM
Having the goal of 1% profit margin for the every trades you are making will let you to double your capital in just 100 trades which can be done in a day or two but the problem is we can't expect the price to be increasing always so when price drops you lose the profits of all the trades means it is worth but highly risky.

It's not impossible,, but you needed to have a deep understanding and long patience in finding good asset/coin to trade.

Most of the time because of volatility it's unavoidable to instead of earnings you'll lose it back as greed comes up, in a situation that instead of parking it up and quit for the day you decide to continue and trade again, a very mistake that most of time a cause of losing.

But if you have a good system and you can follow everything with no interference with your strategy, it takes time, but the outcome is really sweet when you discover/build strong foundations of your everyday trades.
We are talking about the day trading where people don't really concentrate on the value , the price and the movements are important factors to be observed. Yes it is not possible that is why day traders make profits and lose profits then keep stuck in the loop as I said.So at the end its like wasting our time, energy and also resources so go for long term investment where the same returns can be made with no much of efforts made.
3524  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Reduce your TAX Liability on: March 24, 2021, 06:35:30 AM
When it comes to TAX I like all the terms used to avoid, evade and dodge
they all amount to the same thing!
But to your government these things are not same, you can avoid but it is a crime to evade so even if you are earning you can avoid it by knowing the strategies but never possible for a salary class people. So start your business then you will be having more money to spend because you are going to pay less taxes.

I find it hard to do that in a single day or even two. That's stressful and needed much mental awareness for you to do it. Knowing that most of the people are on their homes, there's a likely that you can fail in many of those trades which won't allow you to reach even a 1% profit for that single or for two days.
Yes, that is why day traders stuck in the same place where they begun their career for years while investors keep making profits and compounding them which is giving more profits than previous years.

Both case are different. One can post a topic in wrong section if they are not familiar with the forum and once they discover their topic has been moved to other board, they are unlikely to move it further. Also, there has very few reasons to use move option to abuse but with lock/unlock feature, one can abuse a lot.
I had seen many threads has been moved to and froth after the mod handled it which means the user can overrule the moderating power and its kind of abusing it right?
3527  Other / Meta / Re: Question about 'lock topic' on: March 23, 2021, 02:13:58 PM
A user can lock and unlock it themselves but it would be abused if a user can unlock it themselves once a mod has done so as they'd just reopen it again if they disagreed with the decision.

Interestingly here is an example of two good friends who managed to evade this
[its slightly off topic though]

The two elderly heterosexual men married to avoid inheritance TAX which is also 33%.
Ant this was perfectly legal !

Actual term should be avoiding not evade and every investor and business class people know how to avoid the taxes legally that is why they are getting more richer and paying less taxes than their employees. Smiley
3530  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Protecting Human Rights Around the World on: March 21, 2021, 03:00:13 PM
Yes, Bitcoin gives you all of this and more, financial freedom and the preservation of privacy in addition to transparency, governments and politicians like centralization, control and monitoring of everything, and Bitcoin does not give them that, so they hate Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is the beginning of the era of financial freedom, getting rid of the old system that is based on tyranny, confiscation of money, and imposing censorship on financial movements, and with the presence of Bitcoin, these autocrats will not be able to do anything.
While most of the bitcoin was purchased using centralized crypto exchanges from where the tracking of someone's wealth begins because they used to verify their KYC details on those centralized exchanges in the recent years. So early users took the advantage of being completely anonymous which is not possible nowadays with premium price than market prices.
3531  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Reduce your TAX Liability on: March 21, 2021, 12:10:31 PM
33% tax rate even for long term capital gains? Such a ridiculous amount to be honest.

But no matter how much the rate, you are liable to pay the taxes if you bought the cryptos using exchanges where you registered using KYC but I don't want to pay 33% so I will go with p2p for 10% loss of price on long term is great deal though.
3532  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Problem with blockchain.com (I not receive anymore authorization email) on: March 20, 2021, 06:14:43 PM
Blockchain.com wallet reputation is not good at all in bitcointalk but if you have a rep here to take all the cases about the issues and help them to resolve will be good idea and also can bring back the reputation.
The reputation is mainly bad because of (security) problems inherent to web wallets. I'd never use a web wallet for any serious amounts.
Security is another fact but blockchain Wallet itself full of bugs because I personally experienced it when received ethereum from one of my friend, I tried too many times to access the wallet and at last I did somehow which happened a year or more than ago. I can still see such kind if bugs with lot of issues like Authorization email, which is the one should be resolved.
3533  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Problem with blockchain.com (I not receive anymore authorization email) on: March 20, 2021, 04:49:29 PM
Great, feel free to email me direct LoyceV if you ever find a pressing Blockchain.com related issue appear on the forum and you think we should log in and take a look.

Hopefully in the near future we will have ringfenced resource specifically for offering support on social and forum platforms like this.

Until then, you can reach me any time via email.

Consider hiring someone for this job rather than doing it with the help of someone for free. Blockchain.com wallet reputation is not good at all in bitcointalk but if you have a rep here to take all the cases about the issues and help them to resolve will be good idea and also can bring back the reputation.
3534  Economy / Exchanges / Re: withdrawal stuck on Binance on: March 20, 2021, 02:56:13 PM
I made a withdrawal to a bank account in euros 3 days ago using the SEPA system, but the money did not come.

My bank asks for a copy of the receipt to track the payment, but Binance support is not responding. What should I do?

They clearly mentioned 3 business day which means week days and today is Saturday that is why the fund is yet to arrive and in my opinion I guess you will receive the funds on Monday and next time you can opt for SEPA instant which is also having the same fee.
3535  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto Film Festival on: March 20, 2021, 08:58:58 AM
But, actually how many of the films were made related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Lot of new films are using the name or signboards but its not actually creating any awareness or anything. Only documentary movies are available or atleast that is what I had seen about cryptos until now.
3536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoiding banking challenges (how do you buy crypto?) on: March 20, 2021, 05:34:56 AM
I'm in the UK.  Buying crypto isn't banned, however trading is.  I
You are the owner of the money and I don't know why you have to bend to the bank policies since you are from the UK. Why do you change bank just as Welsh said cause I read that Barclay, Natwest, SCB, RBS, TSB supported crypto related payment.
You can also also open Revolut account if you don't want leave the bank though.
The ban was brought in via our FCA:

https://www.fca.org.uk/news/press-releases/fca-bans-sale-crypto-derivatives-retail-consumers

To be fair to my bank, I've not yet tried to move money to a broker or any other route that might suggest 'this customer is buying crypto' so I can't comment yet as to whether they would block my account.  However I'd rather find legitimate ways to avoid even highlighting this to them.
Its just your bank policy maybe so they started to block even if its legitimate but you are saying they are uet to ban but still want to continue with then which is so weird.
3537  Economy / Speculation / Re: get a loan and reinvest it on: March 19, 2021, 07:51:04 PM
Hello. I see different platform like nexo, blockifi, etc... that can borrow you crypto or stablecoin. I'm here to ask if you have a strategy for example you borrow btc with an interest rate of 6% and then you use it on defi with 8% APR. Thanks for helpful. Cool Cool
Investing on BTC with 8% interest may sounds good but you are talking about a defi which can become a scam project in any time. It is better to take fiat loan and invest it on BTC which is pretty less risky compared to your idea.
3538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying 1 BTC is ‘like owning 60 cars? on: March 19, 2021, 04:39:34 PM
I am willing to pay him 1BTC and please ask him to buy me  60 cars or atleast 60 cars which are in running condition. The comparision itself is stupid thing so just avoid those stupid people's statement like a plague. Maybe in future we can own 60 cars by simply paying 1 BTC until that keep on HODLing.
3539  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best exchange with lowest fees to sell BTC on: March 19, 2021, 02:30:06 PM
According to https://www.kraken.com/features/fee-schedule, that 1.5% is for their instant trade services. If you use the spot trading platform, the fee is lower than that (if I understood it correctly). Most exchanges do this btw, you pay a premium if you use any instant trade services since it doesn't go to the order book, which is probably good for a trade with a huge volume.

You still need to count the withdrawal fee though. Most fiat withdrawal fee is quite "high: btw. Can't be helped since you're dealing with fiat.

I'll need to figure out what a spot trading platform is. Yes, I'm totally clueless. This is the first time I sell BTC for FIAT. Thanks for the tip.

Spot trading platform is the traditional trading platform where you can create your order at your desired price when the price match with someone's buying order the order will be executed then you can transfer the funds to you wallet or to bank.

Binance itself a spot trading platform where you can trade at the lowest possible fee which is 0.1 and you also will get further discounts on the fee when you are having BNB in your exchange's wallet.

What kind of post gives good merit? Huh
Anything that convince someone to read your post can get you merit(s), in this thread OG convinced so gave you merit. But in general people say make quality post to get some merits so I do suggest the same. Cheesy
