Do you see? I also asked him for collateral. And yes i have to do this check. My insurance company wants me to do it. Otherwise i won't be able to request insurance if i get scammed.

You have an insurance company that guarantees your crypto loans?  And they consider a $25 payment from the borrower enough to deem him "trustworthy?"  More information about this insurance company, please.

Another question; who holds the collateral?
3522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: January 06, 2020, 07:25:24 PM
@bbc.reporter, sorry about the spoiler.

What a crazy weekend.  The Saints and the Pats are one and done?  Wouldn't have guessed that in a million years.

What about the hit Clowney put on Wentz?  I thought that should have been flagged, not that it would made any difference.  I knew the Eagles were done as soon as I saw Wentz heading to the locker room.

The AFC south is a tougher division than we've been giving them credit for, two AFC south teams move on the divisional round.  The NFC is down the west and the north.

For my next round of wrong predictions:  All the home teams move on to the conference round.

Do you think I haven't talked to my landlord? You must think I'm retarded or something. Obviously I can't be evicted in 6 days, but once the eviction process starts, the landlord can choose to continue with the process whether I pay or not. I've already been given the 3 days to pay or quit notice.

I know from experience that finding good tenants is hard.  Unless you are repeatedly late or you're a bad tenant I would expect your landlord to be flexible with a late payment.  Especially this time of year.

Are you frequently late to pay your rent?  Do you raise ferrets in the master bedroom?

3525  Other / Meta / Re: [2019] BitcoinTalk's Newbie of the Year [2019] on: January 06, 2020, 01:26:31 AM
Three questions:
Are we allowed to nominate ourselves?

I suppose that's acceptable.

When selecting a "meritable" post the person made, what is the maximum rank they can have been at the time? If they ranked up during the year, can their post be from after they ranked up to a full, or senior member?

Not specified, and not important in my opinion.  The posts can be from anytime during 2019.

Is someone disqualified if they gained knowledge and experience with bitcoin prior to registering on the forum? Some people like to lurk on internet forums without signing up. For example, I have read stack overflow threads nearly every day for a very long time, but have never had the need to actually sign up.

Not a disqualifier, in my opinion.

What part of California are you in?

You realise I'm just going to give him a screenshot right? I'm not getting involved in this, just please don't slander my name for something you're doing. Have a good night.

well give him that screenshot. he will see that i asked you for collateral

According to the screenshot he sent me, you asked him to pay a "so called liquidity amount" of $25 upfront.  It looks like this was received from your email address that you posted here.  How do you explain that?

3528  Economy / Lending / Re: Request;0.3 BTC For a period of 3 weeks.(Can Provide Collateral & Verification) on: January 05, 2020, 10:53:19 PM
Thank-you for the advice. Really appreciate it. In terms of the emails, I'm not sure I can send you a message as I think I'm too low of an account.

You can send me a private message, I don't have newbies blocked.

If you have a screenshot you can post it here also.  The forum won't display it as an image due to your rank, but the link will be available.
3529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: January 05, 2020, 09:31:29 PM
Wow, congratulations to the Vikings, no one gave them a chance.  They move on to visit the 49ers next weekend, the Eagles and Seagulls play for an opportunity at Lambeau Field.

Well no one saw that coming, another controversial non call for a push off for the game.

I think it was minor.  If he didn't catch it they likely would have called defensive pass interference.
3530  Economy / Lending / Re: Brice's lending service - Bitcoin Long and short time loans on: January 05, 2020, 09:12:53 PM
Did you ask someone to pay upfront fees for a loan?

Done buddy. Thanks for being prompt.

I just replied to your email!

I Don't think I'll go through with this one, I mean thank-you though, I really do appreciate the offer & I'm always happy to offer collateral & Verification; but I just don't feel comfortable paying upfront fees for a loan... I'm sure it's just me, it's my first time on something like this. I think I will just wait and see if there any others, if that's okay. I wish you all the best buddy, thanks again.

I just got an email from the moderator. not sure if it was aimed at me. Just in-case you were wondering, I have changed it now, but my account email address, that is my official University email and the domain was from The University of Portsmouth. Which is where I study; You can find a link to their page here https://www.port.ac.uk/.

I got the email just fine, I've changed it now, just in-case the moderators or anyone else has trouble verifying it or else, I've changed it.

 Thanks for the message.

What's all this about admin and email addresses?  You're being phished, it seems you've already shared your email address with a scammer.  Some one is trying to scam you, be very careful.

As for your loan request; you should disclose what you plan to use as collateral, or no one will take you seriously.

And don't share your personal identification with anyone.  None of the legitimate lenders here will require it, and only a scammer will ask you for it.

oh wait he doesn't qualify? maybe he should, idk?

I agree he should.  I can remove the rank-up stipulation.  This is a celebration of new members that are good for the forum so I think this one should be included.

First nomination, thanks V8s.

It's football season in America.  Real football; men's football; gridiron, pigskins, goalposts, and hard-hitting, corn-fed Americans.  One of the big things the NFL does this time of year is celebrate the accomplishments of the year's new players, who are affectionately refereed to as rookies.

Hey mate!

Very nice idea, good to see established member of the community "honoring" the new guys - the good ones. Wink But as much as I like your idea: Sorry for being off-topic BUT........................ I couldnt resist but comment on what I quoted above! There is only one real football and you know it, dont you! Cheesy Obviously you are mixing up things and talk about that something called American Football --> some ppl refer to it as a sport...  Cheesy Cool

Ironically, I was just looking for one of your posts so I could nominate you.  Now I'm not so sure.   Tongue Grin
3533  Other / Meta / Re: [2019] BitcoinTalk's Newbie of the Year [2019] on: January 05, 2020, 07:40:41 PM
I knew a few newbies who made lot of contribution but I don't think they will be newbies anymore once they are doing some contribution so I suggest you to increase the criteria required up to member rank to pick the right one to be selected as a new member of the year 2019.

Their current rank isn't important as long as they were newbies some time during 2019.  They could be Jr. Members or higher at this point; again that's not important.

It got me thinking about our forum, and how we receive rookies newbies.  I know most newbies here can be annoying and troublesome, but certainly not all of them.  So I want to have a competition to select, acknowledge, and celebrate the newbies that are here to participate in and contribute to our community.

Of course, I'll need the help of more established members to select the nominees.  One of the reasons I want to do this is get to know some of the newbies with whom I have not interacted.

This thread will be for nominations, I'll accept nominations for one week until Super Bowl Sunday.  I'll lock this thread exactly 168 hours after posting it, then I'll open a new thread with a poll listing all the nominees.  The polling thread will be used to vote for the nominees and, and the nominee with the most votes will be selected as 2019's Newbie of the Year.  The voting thread will also be open for voting for one week.

What does the newbie win?  Nothing at the moment, but we can discuss that.  Just the recognition might be helpful, and possibly lead to earning some merits for some of the better posts made.  I don't know if monetizing the competition is such a good idea, but again we can debate that.  I don't want to volunteer Theymos for any more work than he already has, but maybe this is worthy of a "Newbie of the Year" badge.

Here are the rules:

1. You must be a Full Member or higher to suggest a nominee.
2. Don't nominate your own alts, or an account you suspect is an alt of another established member.
3. Nominate as many accounts as you want.
4. Post the username and user ID of the nominee.
5. Include a quote of one of the nominee's "meritable" posts and a short explanation why he deserves the nomination.
6. The nominee must have been a newbie on or after Jan 01, 2019, and promoted to Jr. Member by Dec 31, 2019.
7. Have fun.

We can also discuss the rules, and make changes as the week goes on.

That's a great chart, very informative.  Can you please add a row at the bottom with the averages for each rank?

By my calculations Legendary members receive 24.39% of all merit.  That's quite a lot if you consider there are 7 ranks, and Legendary is the minority.  Of course there are a lot of factors that feed into this statistic.

Other interesting notables;
Sr. and Full members tend to merit Hero members more than any other group, including their own.
Newbies tend to merit Legendary members more than any other group.

It's turning out to be quite an exciting game, though.  Man, I thought Josh Allen was going to lose it for his team in the fourth quarter.  Back to back sacks, then that attempted lateral, wtf?  Looks like the Texans are marching now.  Wow, that play to the 10, Deshaun Watson just turned into a magician.

I'm looking forward to the Patriots game, I'm expecting that to be the best game of the weekend.

Anybody see this?

FA Cup - Wolves vs Man Utd

Mainstream adoption - it’s coming!

Wolves vs Man Utd

Very cool.  Mainstream adoption is nigh indeed.  But, what's Coindeal?  I've never heard of them, I hope it isn't a scam, lol.

I was looking forward to watching this match, the Wolves have been fun to watch this season.  But I found no FA Cup TV coverage in my location.  American sports TV is all about the NFL Playoffs this weekend.
3538  Other / Serious discussion / Free Ross Ulbricht? on: January 04, 2020, 10:01:06 PM
I ran across an auction in the collectibles board this morning and I found it curious.  The seller is directing all funds to an organisation working to free Ross Ulbricht.

Ulbricht, aka altoid was suspected of being the founder and owner of the darknet site The Silk Road. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms, plus 40 years without parole.  There's very little chance that he'll ever be a free man again.  The charges for which he was convicted are money laundering, computer hacking, and narcotics trafficking.  Appeals have been filed, but were unsuccessful.

The prosecution attempted to also charge him with conspiracy to commit murder.  One charge of six was filed, but dismissed by the court.  The other charges were never filed.  During some reading I was doing this morning I came across this article from Wired Magazine that chronicles the (alleged) transcripts of DRP's conversation with username Redandwhite.  If the transcripts are accurate, that's pretty damning evidence.

My questions to all of you who are familiar with the story; do you think he deserved the sentence he received?  Do you believe he was set-up?  Do you think he actually tried to hire Hell's Angels to assassinate his adversaries?

I wasn't around in those days, but I find the story fascinating.  I would especially love to hear from those of you who were around, and had interaction with altoid.
3539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving, who's closest with actual Nrs TAKE A CHANCE on the LIST !!! on: January 04, 2020, 02:50:22 AM
I'll take this range: 10501-10550

Thank you, Happy New Year, and good luck to all.
3540  Other / Meta / Re: The curious case of forum's most online users on: January 03, 2020, 07:23:19 PM
Or is this part of the phishing clone sites?

That's the first thing that came to my mind, they're bots refreshing and scraping the forum for all the new posts so they can more accurately mimic the forum.  Nonetheless, it's pretty odd that newbies, a little over two years old have the most time on the forum.

@GazetaBitcoin, good find.
