3521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins with incentives to hodl long term on: April 19, 2021, 06:26:59 AM
I'm wondering, are there any other planned or existing crypto, other than hex, with incentives to "lock" coins, thereby reducing selling pressure?
Definitely not HEX, there has been some concerns regarding it being a ponzi and therefore you should stay away from it.

Regarding selling pressure, dont compare altcoins with equities which are giving out dividends. Equities exist for an existent company not some vaporware shitcoin, these two are not comparable when it comes to legitimacy.

Hence people never trust altcoins, because they are failures from the start and can never compete with the mainstream counterparts on a large scale - bitter truth of the altcoin ecosystem.

Now, about selling pressure, dont assume that staking would give you the ease of mind of not having to see -10% on that price ticker one day. Bag holders dont care about the staking money, they want people to buy or be forced to buy in the context that they are staking so that they can sell their bags.

Trust me, staking vs selling at high, the second option is way more profitable for any trader. So think twice before doing staking. It is always better to just buy coins at low and then sell them at high. Problem lies in that fact that people dont time it correctly or have patience to watch the market.
3522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ether Wallet on: April 19, 2021, 06:21:29 AM
I have had enough of MEW. Mobile app not getting transactions, getting different balances on the web and mobile app and a non-existant support. Definately not the place I want to store my money in.
MEW with metamask addon is a secure way to keep your coins.

You see, the statements you have put in, seem to be out of sheer frustration and lack of knowledge. If you have MEW then the mobile wallet is not MEW, it is different, are you sure you are using the proper apps?

Difference is balances is something I have never encountered, again this is supicious but all of the time a theft if happened has been a problem on the client side.

Support does not exist is true, but MEW is supposed to be used for advanced users who know how to secure their browser and JSON keystore file - they wont need any sort of support. If you are not an advanced user, I suggest the options provided by the users above.

I would like to hear from your side as well, about these two statements. Maybe there are some solvable problems here.
3523  Economy / Speculation / Re: If we enter a bear market how long it will last? on: April 19, 2021, 06:15:56 AM
If bull un will be over in the next months. We'll be enter a bear market with x10 decrease alts price and like x5 decrease in btc.
Is it will last 3 years again till 2024?
No figure can be opined without prior research and since this has been an All time high at 64k USD, it is even tougher to predict.

A bear market, I was predicting to happen once the institutional money bubble broke but that did not happen. Like yesterday price was back to 52k USD and today price is at 54k USD. We currently are seeing a oscillation between the 50-60k USD levels but dropping below this can happen if the selling pressure is high enough.

Since the rise in bitcoin was abrupt when going to 30k to 50k, I did assume it would drop back without supporting levels in the 40k range, but this did not happen.

Currently we can only say that price below 50k will drop the price even lower but otherwise it is still bullish. The mainstream market has taken an interest in crypto more than even before, so support will be there.
3524  Economy / Speculation / Re: Miners Total Stopped Selling Bitcoins on: April 18, 2021, 05:15:40 AM
Miners have to sell bitcoin at one time. Their sole reason of putting up a mining farm and running it is the purpose of making a profit. Indie miners who are enthusiastic about "securing" the network have been washed out by the craze of mining companies and ASIC farms.

Hence the image posted by the OP, does not really draw any conclusion on the statement.

Maybe they are not selling right now but they will sell at one point. So you can always expect a gradual decay/downtrend on price because miners are also targeting high prices to sell but they dont want the price to drop down too much. I am sure miners do a lot more buy/sell difference calculations than the average trader does.

3525  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How to identify coins with high amplitude candles in Binance? on: April 18, 2021, 05:08:42 AM
Not all coins are traded with same candle amplitude, some are similar some are more profitable for trading.
No, you are getting this wrong. A large amplitude does mean a large percentage change but that does not mean that the coin is worth putting money in. First thing you need is research on that asset, just by seeing a shitcoin pump to 400% in a few hours does not mean you should money in it, rather you should stay away from it.

See, these rises in price in an asset often are due to pump and dump. Identifying them is difficult, however you can evaluate some risk factors for them. If the coin is a shitcoin/abandonware/ghosted team etc, you can be sure some bagholder is pumping the price just to sell it.

Quote
Without browsing each coin pair, do you have a method how to detect such coins that are traded as high amplitude candles?
Percentage change per day and keeping tabs on the common names in that seems the best apporach to this, however know what I have already said and be cautious before putting your money in them.

Remember, the dream of flipping penny coins quickly to get rich is a common one, reciprocally uncommon are those who actually profit from it.
3526  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where can I stake bitcoin? on: April 17, 2021, 05:35:47 AM
Yeah, it is, there's a lot of staking terms.

So both of them "Binance and SnapBots" use it to trade? Do you think it's profitable?
No my friend. When you stake coins for whatever passive income promised to you, you lose control over their private keys. Now you might not be knowing but there has been an exchange called MtGox in the past which got into a lot of problems after getting hacked and the people who were having assets on its wallets have to suffer the cost.

In general, you might feel that, "oh my coins are rotting in the wallet, why not try to generate some passive income?" You are not wrong to have this sentiment, but today the only method to generate such an income is a casino's bankroll investment (investing in the casino's house) in a legit casino.

In exchanges, I am not sure how they generate the money to pay back the stakers, maybe through their exchange fees - a proportionate share of how much the person deposited to stake to the total amount stored on the wallet. They could also be giving out loans through another name and paying the lender (staker) a part of the interest.

In either cases, it might seem lucrative, but dont forget that your coins never actually "rot" in your wallet, this is not paper money and there is no compromise to safety when it comes to crypto.
3527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which way to transfer eth? on: April 17, 2021, 05:26:38 AM
Which way do you prefer to transfer eth specially for small amounts?
Geth consumes lots of disk space and is hell time consuming.
MEW transfer fee is so high for small amounts
You seem to be confusing wallets with fees.

Coming to wallets first, Geth is not recommended as wallet, Mist wallet has been deprecated some time back and currently the best wallets for ethereum is MEW with Metamask addon on the browser, or an Android wallet like Trust Wallet.

See these wallets are not the ones determining your fees. That depends on the congestion of the network since many people are trying to get their transactions confirmed, the load on the network is currently high and therefore to skip the line, you need to pay a higher fee to confirm your transaction quickly. You can change the fee that you pay on MEW but that would not be recommended.

Sucks but true, this problem is something inherent with ethereum currently. You can use the Binance Smart Chain to transfer but please read about it first before using it.

3528  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANTM] Antimony Coin - Plagiarism whitepaper on: April 16, 2021, 04:58:44 AM
1month old domain name - check
Copy pasted whitepaper - check
Website design generic of previous ICO/IEO/STO/Initial Blah blah Bullshit offering? - check

Team members have some images. No proof of linkedin accounts though, those links are non existant. The rest of the social media links are also wrong there. I dont think this team exists at all. Images may have been stolen from other places.

They have taken part in advertising a project called "Havven" as per their Advertising page. Tried to access the website of that project but browser says suspicious website. Roll Eyes

As per some aggregator websites there are multiple results of Havven -

https://icodrops.com/synthetix/
https://icomarks.com/ico/havven

None of these seem to match the one on the website of antimony coin. (That name kind of makes the anti-money vibes) Grin

On their Blockchain page there is an upcoming project called "Hycon", search results indicate there has been a project called Hycoin that ended, but not the same one as the one posted in the antimony coin page. All these things are very suspicious. When a project launches, they usually appear in more than one search result. Huh

Flag supported from my end.
3529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGE is living proof of Influential Power of Rich People! on: April 16, 2021, 04:44:27 AM
Just another opportunity for the DOGE holders to make money but they are stubborn just like the Shibe in the Dogecoin picture and hence they will not sell at the pump.

But I am sure users of this forum know this already that celebrities induced pumps are temporary and the coin will go back to its inherent price in a couple of days. If you miss out then you are the one who is to blame.

Dont be on the notion that another super high pump is happening. You have no idea what actually is going on with these pumps and it is therefore better to stay away, this is crypto after all. People here dont care about other's money, they care about their own profits.
3530  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there such thing as a “safe strategy”? on: April 15, 2021, 05:28:38 AM
You seem to have got a first hand experience in IEO and what a scam it is. I hope you spread the word and make others aware as well about the initial coin offering scams that changed names a lot of time. Being a long time user, one can observe the changes with time. Wink

So them offerings are scams, so moving on, Margin trading should not be attempted by newbies - something that I preach anytime one asks me about trading.  How to short and long is something for the ones experienced in it. Newbies will get totally washed or liquidated by it. Dont use the excuse that market is stagnant for two days so I move to margin - No, you are making a mistake there.

Overall safe method if you ask me, long term holding after buying at low. You see the currency price of bitcoin above 62k USD? Think about it, if you bought at 10k USD which was possible towards the end of last year. You would be already at 6x profits. You could sell and book a profit now and it was a safe one.

Think if you would have bought bitcoin back in 2015 when bitcoin was 700$ - today you are at 100x gains.

So dont waste money on ICO/IEO/STO/ITO/Initital Blah blah bullshit. Go for spot trading because margin should only be attempted by those who know about it.
3531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Tutorial website that pays content creators via crypto on: April 15, 2021, 05:20:05 AM
I am planning to share my skills in programming, I can create blockchain based programs in python or nodejs. I can create faucets, mobile wallets.
A hundred other developers out there can do the same too. The competition among developers is a very saturated one, but if you have something that is unique and and useful then you might be able to stand out of the crowd.

Quote
I can make tutorials. Is there any tutorial platform that pays content creators via crypto?
I previously was interested in a project called Viuly. They failed miserably, it could have been the youtube of crypto with time though. There is also Steemit, which is a blogging website where you get paid in Steem's crypto(s) based on how much upvoted your content is. That could be another option too.

Additional suggestion would be going to Youtube and growing a channel, then marketing that to a tech tutorial niche, then going for monetization. If you can link more than one social media and spread out your content among them you might be able to grow it better. Would need years of work though, like several years to grow such a channel/blog.
3532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: MEW is safe? on: April 15, 2021, 05:14:52 AM
Even the majority of the member here in the forum said it is not safe anymore, I think I am not the only one believe on this matter. Because until now I am still using mew for a couple of years and yet so far I don't encounter any such suspicious things using it. Maybe for others it is not safe because some are not careful and became neglectful in keeping their private key something like that.
Most of them have been trapped by phishing scams and their money stolen. Because of lack of knowledge on their part they put the blame of MEW being not safe. However this could be prevented by some steps which veteran users already know. You cant help them if they dont take the advice.

Using a bookmarked MEW website, using the Metamask addon on your browser - these two steps take a long way for saving a user from being robbed. Additionally keeping their private keys safe and they should be all good to use MEW as a wallet.

Still if someone is very concerned, I suggest them to use a hardware wallet.
3533  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stock shares for crypto? on: April 14, 2021, 06:26:17 AM
There is something recently launched by Binance called Stock Tokens. Buying these tokens means that you are holding a token that is pegged to equivalent amount of equity in the stock market.

When they say that the underlying asset gives the price of the token - kind of reminds me of what the definition of an Option is.

You can read more about it here - https://www.binance.com/en/support/faq/1f4b8036e43049baa612ba3c2dc07f16

There are country restrictions too and you would probably need a KYC on Binance for this. So keep those things in mind.

Alternatively you could sell your bitcoin and use the fiat to buy stocks too, with a lot of intermediate fees. But I guess you would not be asking this question is this was already possible.
3534  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stock Staking, Crypto Staking Is this safe way to invest? on: April 14, 2021, 06:20:58 AM
I have never been a fan of staking services, I prefer to research on the project that I would invest in and then directly buy their stocks or equity.

So far I have heard of the staking of crypto. But staking of stocks? Nah, but it might be that I am less knowledgeable about it or that it does not apply to my country/laws.

So in terms of crypto staking, I consider that as a scam. The reason being that when you are staking something, you are no longer owning those coins. Now you can remind yourself of the MtGox situation some years back.

Even then Ethereum might be having a POS protocol in future, so things may or may not change. Even then I would rather buy Ethereum at low price than stake it. Eventually staking ends up being a rat race for the ones who are able to hoard more and gain more - an unbalanced distribution.
3535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When do you think bear market will come? on: April 14, 2021, 06:13:37 AM
When do you think bear market will come and why do you think so?
Market becomes bearish with bearish or negative news. Yesterday the price of bitcoin rose from 60K USD to 62K USD and today it is 64K USD and rising. May be some big movers in the market currently due to positive news or reasons still unknown but defenitely not going bearish.

Comparing the current market levels, I would bearish would happen at the end of cycle but the duration of the cycle is not determined right away since the Musk pump and the institutional money are making the prices soar up.

A downtrend is unlikely in the next few days but you might see a correction happen towards this weekend, which has been the case in the past few years. Overall I think if bitcoin was to drop in price it would be back to 50k USD levels. Altcoins though will bleed a lot more when the drop, because they have no intrinsic value of their own and depend on bitcoin's rise.
3536  Economy / Speculation / Re: Institutional buyers are not backing down. More Pump? on: April 13, 2021, 06:47:00 AM
Both side movements can occur. Now the retail section of buyers are not going to be able to sustain a dump in case the institutional section starts dumping. Even then you have to remind yourself that these institutions are out there for money and so they will be diligent when selling because this is not the first time that they are hedging something for profit.

What I mean is that if they sell they would not tell everyone when they will sell. So even if they post a article like the one above, they may or may not dump and even if they do, you will be the last person to know it.

Point is that the currency price of ~60k+ USD did not see the growth that it needed to see. Meaning that the support levels may be weak at 55k USD and 50k USD. Be cautious when the market starts dropping and dont buy immediately.

In any case, news like these will make the market move but unless a big selloff starts significant movements will not occur.
3537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the best wallet for Litecoin from your point of view? and why? on: April 13, 2021, 06:40:04 AM
What the best wallet for Litecoin from your point of view? and why?
Hardware wallets are the best in terms of security. After all when you are dealing with money storage the most important risk factor is theft and hardware wallets will save you from a lot of those attempts at the cost of a device that you will need to buy.

You can also use the wallets available in general, I have tried some multicoin wallets like Block.io and Holytransaction even then the concept of a web wallet means that the private keys are not controlled directly by you. If you live in any country that supports Coinbase you can use that too, it is a good alternative being a centralized company which provides a wallet service.

Still the recommended one is the official wallet from litecoin.org.

Typically depending on your needs you should look for one. Not all of them have customizable fee systems. So these things need to be checked first.
3538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sale / purchase of ERC-20 tokens on: April 13, 2021, 06:34:34 AM
You have the option to use a wallet like MEW and add in the Metamask wallet to save yourself from phishing scam sites if that is what you are afraid of. In the meantime you should spend some time working on learning how the phishing scams work and how to avoid them because this is not the first nor the last time they will try to steal your money.

I am partially against the idea of keeping everything on smartphone. Prefer to keep wallet on desktop or laptop where I have precautions to secure the same. You are less likely to be able to do that even on Android.

Though like others have suggested, Binance app and other exchanges have apps too but the biggest share of erc20 tokens are one swap sites like Uni, Sushi and the recent Pancakeswap from Binance.
3539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank & Government Crypto on: April 12, 2021, 07:57:27 AM
If banks and governments create their own cryptocurrency, will the people still be the ones to give value to it like Bitcoin and will we be able to store it in our own ledger to protect our own money?
Firstly, this is a very radical and anti-democratic move, so they would think over it twice or more before implementing. It would usually mean the government does not want bitcoin but they want their own state-coin.

They can evaluate the current fiat value and use a cryptocurrency that is equivalent to that and use that for the people to spend. However does this even have any effect on bitcoin? No because it becomes a completely different entity, just another version of the fiat. But only if that currency is exchanged for bitcoin and there would be market for such then the situation would become different.

Democratic countries might not be actually doing so even if they talk about such. After all morons are always putting up absurd claims and bills and then revoking them. What actually happens after Mr. Musk has pumped bitcoin is worth watching.
3540  Economy / Economics / Re: The One World Currency: Is it Bitcoin? on: April 12, 2021, 07:51:49 AM
Sounds fun to hear that " One World Currency" is Bitcoin but I must say that it's only be in crypto industries, many people and countries don't know about bitcoins and cryptocurrencies (as of now) later in future it will be called if fiat will be replace or bitcoins will be spread all over the world.
Gold is already a one-world currency and so are other precious metals. They can be bought and sold in every country if you bring them from another country, after some cumbersome paperwork. Grin

Now bitcoin has been used by different country users so in a way it is also a currency for the people who used it not just the world. Again the reason why different countries have different currencies is based on their economic standpoint and that is something that is a huge thing to take over with one currency. So I dont think that is happening anytime soon. Yes people there might use bitcoin but that is not the majority, fiat is and will be here for quite some time.

Thing might change if we see governments allowing crypto trade openly in exchanges of that country, as we know in many places it is not that open to all.
