3381  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Miningout.com - Ponzi scheme on: May 18, 2021, 06:38:00 AM
Nicely done website design though. That would go along nicely with the narrative when the scammers walk the newbies into the site hoping to rob them off their money.

They even have a phone number on their support page, +44 is the UK code,

but their Footer says this

Code:
MiningOut Limited

Company No. 2827642

PERCIVAL ST BOWRINGTON 9

HONG KONG
So their office is located in Hong Kong and running a UK telephone? Roll Eyes Of course a lot of ways the scammers can refute this.

Site reeks of a ponzi which gets promoted by affiliate marketers into faucet sites from their Banners. Newbies reading this should only keep one thing in mind. Nobody gives out money for free and the project is a scam.
3382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How future applications would be !? on: May 17, 2021, 06:25:49 AM
So far, if we see the implementation of blockchain technology is still dominated by crypto currency applications, it is not impossible that in the future blockchain technology will be adopted and applied to all the needs of the industrial sector because blockchain technology can help and simplify its performance.
It can help in a lot of places just that we more or less are not aware of where it is being used. Many financial companies are using the blockchain technology for developing applications and running their systems. Gradually we might see the blockchain developers being a specific niche of software developers - currently the tech industry is seeing this change.

As we can see clearly the government do no oppose the use of this tech but they oppose the use of bitcoin. Meaning it will take the governments more time to decide what to do with the legality of bitcoin and crypto in general but they want developers of blockchain tech to start their work and to pursue this for future.

The most successful and most viewed blockchain application right now is DeFi. His fans have been very much in recent months. Next up are NFT and incubator. You can see examples like dego, alice, sfund.
DeFi is a short form of decentralized finance, a blockchain based finance system. It is not an application but a use case. Yes it uses blockchain to mirror what the traditional finance system has been but calling it an application does not sound correct.
3383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fighting the FUD of PoW versus Po(Insert favorite word here)!! on: May 17, 2021, 06:18:08 AM
Perfect solutions require perfect evidence which does not exist.

Well what Musk did was a classic pump and dump. Those who followed him now got burnt, but those who played opposite actually made some money and will be buying bitcoin when it stops crashing a bit.

You are correct about these buzzword-with-no-meaning hype. I have been seeing them for the similar time period and I can say with confidence that any altcoin using a word like that to make their project stand out has no intrinsic growth value in the long run. But newbies get fooled into buying them.

This is because, they find bitcoin's price a lot bigger than what their pocket can afford. I dont blame them for this, it is a true phenomena so they look for other investment methods and thus put their money in shitcoins.

But seeing current involvement with DOGE, I would advice people to sell DOGE when the price rises and not get FOMOed. Celebs dont care about your money, they want their profits.

They pull out before you have even reached climax (Pun intended) Grin
3384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Metamask Seed Phrase / Seed Word Stolen on: May 17, 2021, 06:10:55 AM
The problem is I can't abandon that metamask because I will get some tokens delivered to it. I am in contact with the team of the project and they will try to change the address in the smart contract, but they say its really hard. If the admins can't change the address I think I will have to hire someone to code a tool like that for me.
This is a tough situation to apply sort of counter measures. Your wallet has been compromised, maybe you are not understanding the meaning of the terms properly. Once a wallet's seed/secret phrase gets in the hands of someone, that person gets complete control over that wallet. They can spend whatever asset that comes in that wallet. This is why people go to such ends to secure their wallets as they start investing money in crypto.

Also, about hiring a coder, please be careful what you are doing here. There are many scammers who prey on less tech-savvy victims and scam them in the name of being able to recover the money. The proper way would be to approach your country's law enforcement.

Quote
It is not a small sum, so I believe it is worth it to try.
Pressure the admins of these projects that you took part in. If your money is significant, they should help you out as a special case basis.

Do you have any other idea or solution? Anything can be very helpful.
There are none, I am afraid. Such unforgiving is the system of crypto, so that users take their precautions from beforehand.
3385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of investment BTC vs ETH on: May 16, 2021, 06:05:59 AM
If you were going to invest in both BTC and ETH what percentage would you put into each?  At the moment I have 100% in BTC but am thinking of diversifying.
At this point ETH price is much higher probably due to some upcoming events. So this is not the time to buy. Wait for the next big drop in price and then buy ETH, if you are looking forward to it. Personally I bought back in 350$ range and I would only sell at such high prices instead of buying. Not that it will not be big in future, but I prefer to keep Bitcoin in 95% of the portfolio.

Quote
Are there a couple of others that you would suggest should get some of that percentage, such as DOGE or something else? If so, what percentages?
Definitely not that meme shitcoin. Also a new red flag on Doge is that Musk became involved with it. Musk has previously made a nice pump and dump on bitcoin and now he is going similarly to DOGE. If you already own doge, this would be the time to sell, once he pumps it. Rest is up to you to decide what to buy.
3386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Metamask Seed Phrase / Seed Word Stolen on: May 16, 2021, 06:00:11 AM
The team behind the token sale is searching for a solution already to maybe modify the smart contract and send the tokens to another address. Is it possible?
The only people who can change this is the team behind this project that you took part in. Only they have control over the smart contact.

For now though, you need to take some precautions. Since your previous wallet seed is compromised, there is no meaning in trying to recover it. It would be better abandoned. Create a new wallet on MEW/Metamask and then use that for future coins. Make sure you are using a proper AV solution if using Windows OS. Bookmark the token sale sites way before they start to prevent phishing and dont download attachments from email senders that you do not recognize. Avoid responding to PMs in telegram too because that is how scammers are coming in on telegram.

A even better solution is getting a hardware wallet to keep your assets - a small investment for a good protection. Give it a thought when you cool down from this event.

And sorry to hear about your loss, though I know that saying this will not have any impact on your side since only the person who loses their money knows the real pain.
3387  Economy / Economics / Re: How many bitcoins did Tesla earn from selling cars? on: May 15, 2021, 05:15:02 AM
The Musk hype needs to stop now. One day they are promoting Dogecoin and the next day they start allowing bitcoin payments for their products and finally say that Bitcoin mining is not energy efficient and then watching the same market crash.

From the bitcoin supporters point of view, this is a roller coaster ride. Most would start to call Musk bad for doing this organized pump and dump.

As a trader, these are opportunities though. If you would have followed Musk and sold when he said to pump, you would be in a profit already. I think this is what people should do. Since the next big step in crypto would be the government gradually allowing bitcoin to be traded, before that make sure your stock of bitcoin is a one to boast of. That is also what Musk is doing.
3388  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Where to find partners/investors? on: May 15, 2021, 05:09:18 AM
Basically you are looking for VCs. Unfortunately you will not find any here. VCs and Angel investors need to be contacted privately and best if they contact you first. I am still waiting to see any of them have their representatives come to this forum.

You can start off the development by your own funding. Then market the MVP to gain the attention from private investors. You will have a better chance to get attention if you get a paid article out in the niche crypto media sites. Pitch about the community support and they should show interest in it.

Make sure you have a proper social media setup and team profile linked accounts set up. VCs check these carefully before taking any step, like any investor.
3389  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: simple technique of selling high and buying low. on: May 14, 2021, 06:42:11 AM
this is what becomes difficult in trading. looking for the right time, and looking for the right price. but sometimes feelings get carried away in trading so that we can't focus on the framework that has been created.
You have to keep it together fellow bitcoiner. Patience is the key attributes of a successful trader. You have to get in the proper time and exit before the crash. For this you need money at hand but you have to wait for the market to crash.

Less experienced traders who are enthusiastic about the market read the news articles that say "This coin reaches new highs" and that article contains some self-proclaimed genius who feels this is the next dotcom bubble.

These people make the wrong decisions of buying at the high and that my friend, is a mistake you will pay for ever. I always see new threads in this forum when bitcoin goes up and they are asking for advice as to what coin to buy when it actually is the time to sell. Funny that such people dont come here when the market crashes, which is the time to buy.
3390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Projects in the seed capital phase on: May 14, 2021, 06:35:38 AM
What Bttzed03 said is correct, depending upon what your net worth is and how much you can invest in a project determines whether you can get into the seed funding or not. Mostly the ones who do get into such phases are Exchanges, Media sites and Venture capitalists. I am guessing the OP is not any of those because none of such users visit this forum to ask questions. Cheesy

If they would have been a VC, projects owners would have swarmed them already like bees to nectar.

Even then you can invest in the public offering. But be warned that majority of the projects that get posted are failures from the start however well they try to develop it. Eventually they all have failed. It is a much better solution to buy bitcoin and the top 10 altcoins than waste money on funding startup in the crypto sector.
3391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank & Government Crypto on: May 14, 2021, 06:31:16 AM
Based on this I find people won't show big interest over government backed cryptocurrency than bitcoin.
Unlikely to use such a currency unless there are some perks in using it. If it is just digital version of the same fiat currency then it makes no big deal, it is just the same as using another payments system like GPay or ApplePay. They can say that the use if blockchain is new here which I agree, but that is not the point why people use bitcoin.

Majority of the demand in bitcoin arises from traders and investors. It is not like they all support the technology behind it, most are in it for the money. Biggest investors using crypto are trying to evade taxes using bitcoin while state-back currencies are just the opposite of this.

I would probably give up any cryptocurrency that is associated with a bank and government.
But have we seen much use of them anyway? USDT is the one basically used on exchanges as intermediate for trading volatility management.
3392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why FOMO when a coin is pumping on: May 13, 2021, 08:53:57 AM
Another problem in bull market is that some may believe they are golden traders, lol, because even a monkey could earn some money during such periods.
Monkeys cant press buttons at the correct times like humans, thats why they are below humans in the evolution ladder. But the false confidence that you said, is a correct explanation of why some people go FOMO and then go with the FUD too. Lack of dummy trading and reading the charts prior to doing trades often end sup with a bad outcome.

Winning some money isn't so difficult, it's way more hard to keep it ...
I think both are difficult. One cannot win without taking risks so the money that comes is bound to go back one day. Still knowing how to use the cash at hand and at proper time is important. People never bought bitcoin at low price - then how to do they think of selling anyway? Patience is what people tend to miss out and the ones being a attention deficient traders, the end result is never good.
3393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Convert tokens to prominent currencies than holding them forever on: May 13, 2021, 06:18:48 AM
Yeah but currently the Ethereum price is pretty high, compared to the 380$/ETH we used to see two years back or so.

The dollar cost average of shitcoins being sold may have also dropped. See when ETH rises, and if the shitcoin's price rises at the same time, the ratio remains similar and you probably would not be making much profit even at this price. Of course holding a shitcoin makes no sense, but tell that to a altcoin shill, you would never be able to change their stance.

I often tell users to sell shitcoins at loss because they have no future development occurring and they might be a die hard fan, but that coin will end up abandoned.

Another method is to sell the shitcoin at USDT value and use USDT to buy ETH if ETH drops or BTC if BTC drops.
3394  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Difference between Limit and Market button on: May 13, 2021, 06:13:35 AM
Hello,
Thank you very much for anybody who could answer this clearly, because online it's not that clear! If I click on limit, I only sell at the exact current price right?
adaseb explained it nicely,

let me just anecdote it by saying that a limit order becomes a market order when a set price is reached. So you have a market price which is what you would want if you wish to fill the order immediately. Limit order will be stuck as long as the set price is not reached, when it do reaches that price, it will be executed just like a market order - because the market price is now the trigger price.

In very layman terms, when you set a limit, you are setting your "own" price, whether or not if it is reached. When you are buying at market price, you are buying at the immediate price at which the asset is being sold.

So you would set a limit when you are confident a price would be reached and you dont want to buy at prices higher than that. But say the price dropped even below your target price and you open your website to see that, you would rather want to buy immediately at that market price.
3395  Other / Meta / Re: Why are "Likes" turned off in this forum? on: May 12, 2021, 05:47:01 AM
Sending Merits to a post is almost the same as liking it if you have loved the content someone has written
Umm No.

Merit should to be given to a post that you find informative. A post can be informative and likeable, both or none. That is as per what the admin wishes to imply. But you are free to do whatever you wish to do with merits, even send them to posts that you like but again that ends up being the social media method where only the top posts get the attention and rest of the posts that are worth reading or informative gets drowned in the endless chatter.

To answer the OP, Merit system is not a "Like, share, subscribe" thing. It came here after low quality post spam helped even spammers rank up and to curb that. It was never intended to to work as a "Thumbs up". So we dont have one like that and I hope theymos does not start one.
3396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown projects on: May 12, 2021, 05:36:51 AM
May you introduce some useful projects on the cryptocurrency that are till "unknown" but a strong team are working on it.
If the project is "unknown" very likely the project has been abandoned and you should stay away from it. In fact 99% of altcoins are not having any future in development but rather ends up as pump and dump by some investors playing on it.

I appreciate your enthusiasm to support newly developed projects, but trust me this sector is getting the least developer influx among other sectors. Mainstream projects that are doing the same thing are so hugely competitive that niche crypto projects get washed away.

Have been watching the ICO/IEO/STO/Initialwhateverbuzzword/ etc for a long time and what I have understood is that if you wish to make money here, you need to buy bitcoin. Or if you wish to buy altcoins then buy them at low and manipulate their prices to pump and dump them. For the second one you need a huge amount of money at hand, which I am sure you are lacking.
3397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I swap my BTC to altcoins and hold for better benefits? on: May 12, 2021, 05:31:16 AM
I guess the amount of BTC in your portfolio might not be big enough which makes you come to a wrong conclusion. A small volume of Bitcoin and even seeing the gains on that might yield a low value, compared to someone who is holding >1BTC and bought at prices of three digits or four digits of USD.

Point is that back in last two years we have seen a stagnant market, where altcoins went down like anything and BTC was never rising. This was followed by a bull market for BTC in 2020-2021. Now since I have seen both sides, I can comment that buying bitcoin and keeping it is much better in terms of  profit and mental trauma than buying altcoins.

Now you may have some support for specific altcoin, however their probability of being in profit is much less than Bitcoin. You can buy today some altcoin and it might drop to very low prices tomorrow, because people are holding bags to sell it anyway.
3398  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin milestone from video game currency to corporate reserve currency in ten on: May 11, 2021, 06:19:43 AM
OP, we know you will not respond to the replies here because you were high on weed when you wrote it still, you cant have an absolute in this world.

No currency is going to "die" - currencies are non-living. If people reduce its use, then the popularity will be low. To completely stop its use, the alternative needs to be full-proof with pros and no cons. Sadly this is not a ideal world and everything has its pros and cons.

Use of bitcoin seems good but there will be some cons which fiat can fulfill. Both of them complement and supplement each other, one does not exclude the other. In countries where bitcoin is still beyond knowledge fiat will be used for a longer period. Not every country out there is liberal enough to accept bitcoin's trade and daily use.
3399  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: help on buy rise or buy fall on: May 11, 2021, 06:10:56 AM
Can any one help and tell me what is going when you can buy rise or fall on BTC and where i can do this? You can set a time limit as well.
You buy an asset when it is priced low and sell it when its price goes up. In between you need to keep holding that asset and speculate which direction it might be going. This is how the basic trading thing works. I believe that is what you were trying to say?

Time limit is not important here. When you are buying low selling high, you are having a long term goal in mind and would be willing to hold for years to come. For example the ones who bought bitcoin at three digit prices of 600$/BTC are getting a 100x profit today by selling at 60,000$/BTC. This is applicable to all sorts of speculative markets - stocks, forex etc.

Right now the price is high, so not the time to buy. Wait for bitcoin to drop back to 50k USD/BTC.
3400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Elon Interested in Dogecoin? on: May 11, 2021, 06:04:51 AM
As, we know that Btc & ETH are the top two Crypto in the market but I am confused why Elon interested in Dogecoin?
Why is an answer you will never get a concrete answer to.

Easy to think that he is only involved in pumping the price so he can sell and make a profit. At least that is what we have seen previously with celebrities promoting certain coins or being associated with those coins and making a nice profit in front of their governments who are unable to stop the money laundering.

To make it simple, people like Musk have a lot of cash at hand that needs to be stored in some safe place. They cant go to the bank because of taxation they would face and also the scrutiny of revenue departments. So they move to these safer havens of money and use them to raise the value of their assets.
