3541  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Hands On] KeepKey Hardware Wallet - Notlist3d on: December 14, 2015, 03:40:28 AM
Been using it for a few day's.  Works very well it actually is pretty quick considering the amount of security it gives you.

Even if you are not in the market for a KeepKey I highly suggest looking into hardware wallets.
3542  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Columbia Basin Mining - Land offer for Bitcoin Mining on: December 14, 2015, 02:32:25 AM

Did old owner come up with rental terms?  Did you come up with rental terms?  Also is farmer a friend of who did?  Is the renter family relation to someone in CBM?

If you are talking about the purchase price for the land, the landowner came up with the terms.

The leasing amount was designed by the co-founder whom is a farmer.

Is the renter family relation to someone in CBM? No, and it would be to the highest bidder.

notlist3d:  Was not trying to avoid any question, just misunderstood what was being asked.  Please accept our apology.

Thank you for answering some of it.  I honestly still have hard time believing co-founder is a farmer... or he would do it most likely.   I think we are still missing something here.

I honestly think it is friend or family since you know this 40k your so set on.  I don't think there is a chance you had farmers come out and look and bid on using it when you are far from owning it.  I also think not wanting sharecropping as owner is crazy

*EDIT I Knew it sounded odd read above in previous comments:
Also, one of the managing partners already farms 1,200 irrigated acres, and is willing to farm this parcel of land as well.

So one of the managing partners is willing to farm this land.... one minute hes managing partner.  Other minute it's "Is the renter family relation to someone in CBM? No, and it would be to the highest bidder."  Your managing partner is giving you info on what it should be.... when it most likely would be him farming it.  No wonder such a sweet deal on renting, and not sharcropping.  You have someone with a conflict of interest.

I have shown story does not add up.  2 different stories when you ask questions.
3543  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn Bitcoins fast and free?? on: December 13, 2015, 10:41:55 PM
It is impossible to earn bitcoins fast and free. In the above example, you can earn $0.17 per hour. That is lower than the minimum wage in most countries.

That is actually pretty high for faucets... which sounds pretty sad when that is said.  You normally make a few cent's per hour at most.  They will brag about the jackpots... but they almost never happen.

Bitcoin is money, and digital.  Just since the money is digital does not mean it's not money.  And remember money is not free.  So you really cant set back and expect a fast way for bitcoins.
3544  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i Mine with a dual core CPU? on: December 13, 2015, 10:39:49 PM
I have read about CPU-mined coins but I don't think a laptop grade CPU will be any efficient though.

It does not matter laptop or desktop even a server with ton's of cores.  Most make less then the electricity costs.  It's just hard to cpu mine now days.

Even if you were able to get a profit over electricity. You will never pay off gear your using to do it with.  Just not enough profit.
3545  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoins with Personal Checks? on: December 13, 2015, 10:38:18 PM
Maybe I don't fully understand, but are you talking about a check someone else wrote to you?  In either case, it sounds much easier to do what was suggested above, which is to use wire or cash or pretty much anything else.  Personal checks are problematic.  I used to accept them years ago from Ebayers.

A personal check would be one you write to someone.  The anwser is not unless you find someone who takes it, and chances are slim.  If you find someone you will have to pay before you get it, and you would not get it till check cleared.  I have not seen a exchange that allows checks to do instant debit like some stores do.

Looking linking checking account to a exchange.  Same account... just a little initial setup  But after no issues and don't mess with checks.
3546  Other / Meta / Re: I have never seen such a heartless evil online community. on: December 13, 2015, 10:32:57 PM
You know, that Fwdxlsh guy sent me multiple PMs asking for pictures of her, which I don't have.  I mentioned that codishmumu had posted a selfie and that she's a disgusting wombat who has no business trying to peddle her ass on this forum.  He finally let it go, but I suspect that they are one and the same.

It would not surprise me if a new user showed up and again tried to turn this forum on its head.

Interesting as he tend's to troll meta.   I'm surprised he has not been perm banned.

And to anyone reading this if you have a troll.... the more attention you give them the more enjoyment they get.   Honestly the best solution is ignore them.  If you get into match with them they crave attention and you gave it to them.

And pictures.... don't post or send pics that you don't want online.  Pictures end up online all the time... it takes a idiot to send a picture you don't want out.
3547  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 and EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 proper cabling on: December 13, 2015, 10:15:10 PM
hi - thanks for reply.  I tried what you have suggested, and still the S7 won't turn on.  I've also tried another config, using an extra EVGA 1300w.  I power 2 boards with the first power supply, and the 3rd board and the controller with the 2nd power supply.  No signs of life at all.  Any other ideas?  Is there anything that needs to be done to the S7 before powering on?  This is my first setup.

Ahhh. Did you turn on the PSU's? The pin #4 (green wire) need to be jumped to a ground to tell the PSU to turn on, the same way the PSU turn on when you press the power button on a PC.

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-power-up-an-ATX-Power-Supply-without-a-PC/

The EVGA 1300 should come with a plastic piece that doe the same thing to turn on power. They actually not to long ago redesigned it where end is covered so even nicer.

If you did not get the adapter to turn PSU on I would contact EVGA and see if they will ship you one.

Thanks dear , as u say in PM ( also maybe someone like me interest to know , i start this Thread )

How many Miner we need ?
can u put the Model + Image of it ? cause i am new into it.

This is the S7;
https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201511170341298180m44675v0613

You would need 213 of them and it would cost 277000 USD, you would also need PSU for all of them. Its much smaller than the first figures we discussed but i still think this would be pretty much in the viscinity of datacenter scale.

The avalon 6 is a solid unit but its too expensive and i think it would be better suited for someone that want a quieter unit at home.

OP the fact is you will never get this 20 btc per month.  Even if you did with difficulty it changes so it will get lower and lower.

But I don't think OP realizes cost and amount of gear to get this.  OP what is your budget?
3549  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 13, 2015, 10:09:48 PM
I would bet it's his server PSU that is causing most of the noise.  The Avalon doesn't do whiny noise, more of rush air.  My EVGA and HP 1000W PSU are super quiet so I can figure out the exact noise level of the Avalon.   Going to upload my video soon, my Samsung Notes 4 mic is not great so I think the background noise level appears a little louder than real life.  At 3300RPM for the FAN, my Avalon is just a little bit louder than my OC Antminer S3+.  The noise is like rushed air / white noise so it's not bad at all and I think I'm ok with having this in the corner of my living room as a free heater.

Here's the My Youtube video of it.

https://youtu.be/ULLqGl81Kf8

Your video is marked as private Smiley you need to share it.  But thank you for making one to share! Love seeing videos of setups.

And I think you right on his a  lot of noise was the server PSU's.  But I could be wrong that is why I asked for him to do with just PSU's on.
3550  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks open. on: December 13, 2015, 10:07:24 PM
Bitwisdom just keeps looking more scary:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    79,102,380,900
Estimated Next Difficulty:    93,460,256,165 (+18.15%)
Adjust time:    After 856 Blocks, About 5.0 days
Hashrate(?):    638,246,465 GH/s

At least were still hanging around 435.  So decent value. But this period on difficulty will hurt.
3551  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $1500 budget, im torn in choices on miners on: December 13, 2015, 10:06:12 PM
the choice is easy , with free electricity the efficient does not matter anymore, instead what it matter is the initial investment, to speed up the roi

Not always true, it depends a lot on HOW MUCH free electricity you have available.

15 PH of cloud hashing, at 3 TH per machine, works out to 5000 machines - yeah, that might take a little while to fill. If they do it as the 10TH mentioned option, it's only 1500 machines - probably can fill that in a month or less if they get enough chips out of the foundry.

Mostly I'm waiting to see what the A3 ends up looking like in a machine, at this point.

well he clearly said lower than 3k watt, so he can have a lower income with more wattage needed because he want those inefficent machine, but he would save a very good amount of money on the investment

anyway we are talking about a tiny profit here, so it does not mater much
The benefit if having free electricity is not tiny. It amounts to a huge chunk of your mining payouts.

It depends on the amount.   I would argue 100 amp of cheap electricity beats out a few thousand watts of free electricity.

Most free electricity is very limited.  So you really will not be mining a ton of unit's with free.
3552  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Budget: €200 - Which miner should I buy as a beginner? on: December 13, 2015, 10:04:34 PM
You could always make a trojan, for less than 200 Euro!
That might produce more than you rmining rigs and cost you less to produce, however, this is classed as hacking and social hacking through the use of this. And the two are illegal, you could always as a trusted friend/family member if they have cheaper electricity, or know a person who is living in n apartment or studying at university that has "unlimited free power" in their rent tarriff.

Why offer such a bad suggestion?  I know your joking.. but seriously I would think twice before typing some things.

But the truth still is with 200 euro budget there is not a ton of miners in that range.  S3 chances are newest he is going to get  And being in Europe possibly VAT/Import tax. So not cheap.  Really do need cheap electricity to make sense.
3553  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 13, 2015, 06:04:23 PM

Thanks for sharing do you have video of 2 server PSU's on by themselfs? And one with both server and miner?

I think the server is adding to the noise a little bit.  I'm not sure how much but it seems to be effecting noise.
3554  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 13, 2015, 06:02:18 PM
I think this box does better when it's hotter.  I'm seeing almost 3.4TH now.  Got the replacement HP 1000w PSU and that thing have been quite quiet, knock on wood.   Before I try using part HP 1000W and part EVGA.  Can anyone confirm if the hash board is split left and right or top 2 port and bottom 2 port?

I just open the box and can see the hasboard are split top and bottom so the top 2 ports are of the same board.  I didn't open it all the way as it would ruin the warranty sticker.  I don't recommend anyone using different PSU as the Voltage is different and may cause issue.  I saw my machine show up as 13V and it wouldn't hash after 5 mins so I just change it back to the way it was before to avoid issues.

Also noticed that it reported the temperature all weird as the ASIC normally runs above 70C with the mix PSU configuration, it would show everything in the 40s which is not correct.

P.S Too lazy to black out my username, does it really matter?  What's the worst thing that can happen?  Also I read that the new firmware fix the issue with max Voltage being at 12.8, I'm seeing 13 with the mix PSU due to older firmware.  Should I upgrade?  I also see people reporting 100less G hash rate after upgrading so doesn't seem like a good deal

Upgrade I don't unless there is a big feature or fix they talk about.  Some do every single one.  I'm on thee motto if it aint broke don't fix it.  But just depends on what firmware has.

I think enough people have said it run's better hot... we can get closer to believing it.   I might need to try one in a warmer place and see if I can confirm (and it could very with firmware).

I just like blanking them out.  There is really no security reason, I just don't advertise pools I'm using as I figure it's another topic.  But worst they should be able to do (as long as password is not what you use on site) is mine for you... so you are right not really bad things with it.  Someone might be able to send in crap as you.... but I would guess most pools would see what IP's sending crap.

(er what is this 40% off tools...wheee...curse you now I will spend fiat on tools I will likely never use..damn it!) Wink

On lowes I'm not sure how they get them but there is always 10 percent of order over X.   I used one coupon I bought a bit back.

I can't wait to turn it on tomorrow and see how the 12k CFM are.   On a side note I had one I got at a different retailer don't believe what all manufactures say on CFM's.  Called them up they act like they look it up... 7500 CFM they said so not bad.  But it was closer to 4k CFM if that.  So It made it complicated returning another fan.
3556  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Summer Mining - Fans/Other summer equipment on: December 13, 2015, 06:16:44 AM
Tried another fan today - http://www.lowes.com/pd_416730-11292-SFDC2-600T_0__?Ntt=416730&UserSearch=416730&productId=4755305&rpp=32
Utilitech Pro 24-in 2-Speed High Velocity Fan

It is a medium sized fan at 24 inches.  It is rated very high cfm for its size: 7860.

I put one of these in area I plan on putting miners in.   Tested one out it does put out a heck of a lot of air.  I could feel it move air a good amount farther then other fan above.  And it still has a non-electrical switch that if power is knocked out it will come back on same speed.

Update on the fan's.  One is still working perfect the other the fan burnt out.  Odd it burnt out during winter and not during summer... but it did.

Was a pain turns out it's a lowes only brand.  They will tell you they only do in store help on 3 months with fans, even though they have a 1 year warranty.... but it's a lowes only product.   Your first trip there to see if they have replacement and get phone number the employees will be of no help after 3 months they could care less.

Just incase anyone else go through this call the number they give you for warranty if it's summer likely you ship in the motor, they ship you back a new one.  But if it's winter... they don't produce them so no new motors.   I had to get someone at corporate and a reference number and name and extension which they will give.  With that you can go to store and if they don't have the fan they can credit it on lowes giftcard most likely.

So they were out of the 24 inch fan.  I ended up going up to the 36 inch model - http://www.lowes.com/pd_416731-11292-SFDC-900F___?productId=4755307 . It was very slim pickings on fan's so I decided as long as it was more CFM I was happy even though I dipped a little out of pocket.   But come summer I should have this 12000 cfm beast pushing some serious air.

But for anyone reading this the key if you have same trouble is getting the reference number and persons name and extension.  With all that the store pretty much goes from a stern no to "Ohhh crap he talked to corporate what can we do to help?"
3557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: December 13, 2015, 05:04:53 AM
After starting to try one I suggest people look into hardware wallets if you have not.  It is very nice for spending money.   I have been able to easily get BTC when I need to send and is very easy.

And I still feel secure so I really am liking the change so far.   Guess we will see after a few weeks, but I'm guessing I still like it.
3558  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Overview Bitcoin Paper Wallets on: December 13, 2015, 05:03:09 AM
I like the list but it's important that if you're generating a wallet, you do it OFFLINE to ensure it's not being sniffed.

If it's going to be a true cold paper wallet with good amount in it.  Do fresh install of OS do updates, virus/malware software, and use that computer.

Next use the dumbest printer you have.  A lot have all-in-ones with tons of cache and network etc.  If you have a old stupid usb printer use it.  No matter what look at how to clear your printers cache.   It's even more important on network printers with internet connections.

And I would then blow OS away do a few read/writes on drive and reinstall.  You now have a cold wallet with decent security depending on where it's stored.
3559  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making backup's suggestion on: December 13, 2015, 05:00:34 AM
I compress the wallet.dat file with 7 zip using encryption, then back up the files into usb disk. Is 7 zip encryption safe?

AFAIK, 7zip, WinRar, WinZip, etc. have all been cracked already. But as long as the wallet.dat file is encrypted you should be good.
No, 7zip's encryption is not cracked. I highly doubt WinRar and WinZip's are cracked either, but I don't use them. 7zip uses AES encryption, which is still not cracked. It is the safest encryption method as of today.

Just read into it. Apparently both have changed (a few years ago they were all cracked -- AES wasn't added until 7zip 3.x).

Keep them "cold" have on a few thumbdrives or sd cards or something that is not online.  You cannot crack what you cannot get to.  This is for wallets with sizable amounts.

If it's for low spending yes this is overkill.  But the part about being offline is very important if storing lots of coins.

I think it is better to start a new auction, and for the person that didnt pay you,

report it to admin so for next time nobody is scam by tht person

Why did you bump a few month old thread?  There really is not a need of it as this was months ago....

Am I missing something?
