3541  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK.BND (1%/week) on: July 29, 2012, 09:12:45 AM
Account was unlocked. Just waiting for confirmations on deposit, now. I'm going to go ahead and pay 2.5x dividends today, accounting for tomorrow's scheduled payment, last Monday's scheduled payment, and an extra gratuity to apologize for the delay.

Issued: 11171 bonds (1117.1BTC FV)
Interest Payment: (1117.1*.025)=27.9275BTC

Next Payment Date: August 6th

Securities (BDK & BDK.BND) should be unfrozen very soon, if not already, allowing everyone to trade and otherwise transfer the securities again.

ETA: One last delay. No confirmations on deposit, yet, and I'm tired as Hell. It's 5:30am, here. Set alarm for 11:30am, so dividends should be paid in 6-7 hours from "now."
3542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your cryptocoins were stolen and you called the police? WTF? Are you serious? on: July 29, 2012, 06:17:50 AM
What the Hell were we talking about again?

Oh - why call the police? That's an easy one. Private companies are often unwilling to provide information or do an internal investigation without a court order, which pretty much necessitates involving the police. So.... why involve the police? - I want my $5k worth of BTC back. That's not an endorsement of government, just simple greed and common sense.
3543  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BDK] Loans (starting @ 5.5% MPR), CDs (Unavailable), Bonds (1%/wk) on: July 29, 2012, 06:03:47 AM
Still have a boatload of coins looking for a good home. Hit me up. Cheers,
Ben

2 BTC in your wallet if you can complete the gallon challenge.

Quote
Milk chugging, or gallon challenge, is the process of consuming a large amount of milk within a set period of time. Although there are variations in procedure, many adherents follow to the mostly general parameters; a person is given 60 minutes to drink a full gallon (3.79L) of whole milk without vomiting.

*Includes cost of milk*
If OP isn't interested, I am. I'll do it within 20 minutes. I get to buy a $4.50 gallon of fresh milk at the creamery, though. Live Skype video when I get back from getting the milk, even. Can't do it at the creamery, though - it's nearly an hour away, and milk has a tendency to "get things moving." Shocked
Definitely reason to stay up for a few more hours!
Closed, now. Midnight, here. I don't believe I have anything planned for tomorrow, though.... Could have a charity drive, dump collections on BTC100 or something.

[Current BDK/IOU Depositor Services]
*Access to "Ghetto P&P Exchange" services. Ability to immediately (if you choose an instant method) exchange BTC for USD, and USD for BTC, at rates lower than BitInstant.

[Proposed New BDK/IOU Depositor Services]
*Cashback when you use BitMit. Use a referral ID I provide, and have all transaction fees you pay to BitMit fully refunded in the form of a credit to your IOUcoin account. I don't much care to bother Tosaki about this, so instead, I think we'll try out scraping the site, matching User IDs on my referral and commission page to BDK usernames.
*x% MemoryDealers discount. This needs to be negotiated directly. Idunno the exact e-commerce platform they use (whether or not this'd be feasible), but perhaps it would be preferable to ask for a code to apply to accounts, which provides a lifetime discount. It may be more worth talking to Netveano folks about this, as they handle quite a few other merchant-type sites.
*Discounted stays at 20Mission. This should be fun and easy to negotiate.
*Free gifts sent when lifetime amount of BTC deposited surpasses certain thresholds. For example, perhaps when you deposit 150BTC, you're given the option to be sent a free page of IBB BTC checks. 500BTC, free one-year BTC Magazine subscription. 1500BTC, free lower-value casascius coin. 3000BTC, free higher-value casascius coin. 10k+, you get.... Idunno, a free greenhouse kit with exotic seeds from "Galt's Lab" and a $50 giftcard for Menards.
*Monthly drawings for active depositors to receive a collection of interesting stuff in the style of IBB's treasure chests.

If anyone has other ideas, lay 'em on me.

Apologies again for the delay. Just waiting for my account to be unlocked... Hoping it will be within a few hours.
3548  Other / Off-topic / Re: Olympics Opening Ceremony. on: July 28, 2012, 06:54:17 PM
NBC's being cunts about having anything Olympics talked about or posted. In the US, you can't even watch the Olympics live, and NBC uses geoblocking to keep people from "Live" countries talking to people from "Primetime" countries on the Olympic Twitter page, likely among other content sites.
3549  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitCare for Android on: July 28, 2012, 03:42:35 AM
Bump. Discovered this today, but can't find any additional information (searching forum for "bitcare" only turns up this thread), and the developer's website ( http://www.cryptcoin.com/ ) appears to be non-functioning.

Anyone care to claim having developed it?

What's the app from the screenshot?
http://btcmon.com/ iPhone only, currently. This may be your best bet for Android, but I have looked into it in detail.

3552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Deebit Vs. Slush's Pool More Money? on: July 28, 2012, 03:12:29 AM
They should pay roughly the same. Deepbit is generally favored as paying slightly more last I checked (this was mostly due to a higher stale rate on Slush's pool, which is no longer a factor [AFAIK] after a significant infrastructure overhaul), and it is theoretically possible for "pool hoppers" to exploit Slush's pool (however, that information is months old -- I am not certain if it's still true).

You may also want to consider Mt. Red @ https://mtred.com/ which does PPS but doesn't charge a fee, as well as Eclipse Mining Pool @ https://eclipsemc.com/ (no fee) if you don't mind short-term variability in how much you're paid. They maintain operation based on donations - so whatever you feel they deserve, they get. It's also generally considered "community service" to mine on pools which are not particularly large, for if a pool were able to secure roughly the majority or more of hashing power, the pool operator would be able to perform what's called a "51% attack" (see http://gavintech.blogspot.com/2012/05/neutralizing-51-attack.html for what it is and how the devs are working to prevent this situation).

Cheers & happy mining!

ETA: I left out Graet's OzCoin @ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=14085.0 - which is funny, because I mine there. They share similarities with EMC, but OzCoin better-supports (AFAIK) FPGAs, which I'm guessing isn't really a concern for you.
3553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coblee shows intent to promote Litecoin centralization on: July 28, 2012, 12:07:03 AM
For those interested in getting spam like this out of your "new unread posts" list, given these kinds of threads make up the majority of "Alternate cryptocurrencies"...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=ignoreBoards -> scroll down to "Other" tab (second dark section) -> tick "Alternate cryptocurrencies," -> click "Change Profile" at bottom of page

Cheers!
3554  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: #BitcoinChat, this Wednesday at 1PM PST! on: July 27, 2012, 11:49:34 PM
why don't you just use irc and with a bot you can pull in the hashtag?
The idea is to expose Bitcoin to people's followers. It's sort of a ripple effect. If it gets big enough we might be able to hit the trending topics. (But that's months down the line.)
I'm in the same boat. No Twitter account with any followers. That said, it seems like a good idea.

Good luck!

3556  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK.BND (1%/week) on: July 27, 2012, 09:29:57 PM
Any updates on the dividend payment this week?
Hopefully by the end of the day, possibly not until tomorrow, dividends will be paid. There will be a .5% bonus (so .00015/share instead of usual .0001/share, assuming I counted correctly), and dividends will be paid regularly (in full) on the upcoming Monday (7/30).

I hope for your investors that you mean ".0015/share instead of usual .001/share", that is 10 times more Smiley
Over two... .001

Oh. Yeah.  Tongue  Smiley Sorry about that.  Used to doing (total bond value * .01) for total dividends to pay on my side. End of today or tomorrow, it'll be (total bond value * .015), then upcoming Monday and each Monday after, (total bond value *.01) again. Just waiting on Nef to unlock my account, then need to send the appropriate amount to go, actually pay dividends, and we'll be back on track.

ETA: And I'm calling bonds "shares," again. Bad habits die hard, I suppose.

3558  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [ANN] Ghetto P&P -- Cheap Alternative to BitInstant for BDK Users on: July 27, 2012, 05:37:54 AM
Again ready for buys and sales. There is a temporary limit of 500BTC/day for ALL users which will be lifted within a couple weeks. Apologies for the downtime. Fixed ACH fee structure. If I messed anything else up, please let me know.  Smiley

I have not yet signed up for the PNC bank account, but house sale is scheduled for execution on the 30th, so I should have funds fairly soon to open up the "premium" account for free wires.

I currently intend to open an account at PNC within a couple weeks, and ING within a month. If you're interested in this service and meet the requirements (or wouldn't mind paying the non-depositor "sign-up" fee), let me know which bank you'd like me to open an account with (unless it's BofA -- they're evil. If you happen to live near me, I also refuse to deal with CNB).

BDK CDs will soon (within a month) be sold again (4%/32D, 9%/63D) if you'd prefer to "get paid" to open an account instead of paying a sign-up fee. P&P accounts may be "given" to BitInstant within a year or so if I start running low on time or something secret (on their side, not mine) happens. I will be subsidizing current account-holders' (who have used the service) transaction fees there if that were to happen, so it at least matches current "P&P" rates, but you'd also get the consistency and reliability (with regards to having staff) of BitInstant, among some other benefits I'll refrain from listing here.  Wink I haven't talked to Charlie about this.

Cheers,
Ben
3559  Economy / Lending / Re: IOU-BLoC (Business Lines of Credit) [Prequel thread - probing for interest] on: July 26, 2012, 09:07:02 PM
Interesting.  I assume the "terms" page is simply a placeholder?  I can't imagine anyone accepting to signing over all legal rights.

For TangibleCryptography, the public disclosure of accounting ledger is a non-starter.  We have no issues with disclosing that to someone under an NDA but monthly detailed accounting to the public?  To include our competitors?  To include our clients ("hey this is exactly after cost how much TC profited off you")? Never going to happen.   I can't see any serious business accepting that requirement either.  Now summarized monthly reports to the public and full details to entity under NDA (w/ penalties for breach to include "accidental breach" and/or "hacked")?  Maybe.
Yes, ToS is a placeholder  Tongue

Public disclosure of business will not be a requirement if there is not enough demand, but it's something I'd really like to encourage in the community, but maybe I'm just throwing a tantrum. It takes us a month to make 10% on a "sale" at pretty darn high risk much of the time, and we need to disclose what we're making every time. Meanwhile, a non-finance goods/service provider can take a 30-70% margin and are never called usurious cunts because nobody even knows what their margin exactly is.  Cheesy
3560  Economy / Lending / Re: IOU-BLoC (Business Lines of Credit) [Prequel thread - probing for interest] on: July 26, 2012, 09:55:49 AM
Development is humming right along.  Smiley

Here's my ugly-ass mock-up of yore intended for the dev (view-only - I don't believe it allows you to read comments regarding hover link text and some other explanations) : https://docs.google.com/presentation/pub?id=15XarwZgJZtEt2Uvq_AR7Hz4XPeYu9w0dugo_dq-xDy8&start=false&loop=false&delayms=3000

Some of that's obviously been changed, and it shouldn't be considered final, or even a "Darn Good" idea of what the site will do or look like at launch. There is no short-term intent to deal with USD at all, for example. However, you could request a BTC loan, then use IOU exchange services (I'll surprise the dev with plans for integration, later) for near-immediate USD deposits into various US banks (PNC and ING on the short-list, feel free to make other requests -- NO BofA!) and CUs (so long as they support Shared Branching). Some additional surprising withdrawal and deposit options (think physical!) will likely be added within six to twelve months. Account security as implied on the site will not be what is used.

I still haven't talked to Tosaki about integrating charity functions... Trying to figure out where I fleshed that idea out a bit. I think the bulk of it is probably buried somewhere in Skype. I'll look for it tomorrow when I wake up.

Cheers,
Ben
