3541  Other / Meta / Cannot merit that post wtf? on: April 18, 2022, 05:29:58 PM

Can someone explain that?

For more details, I was going to merit this thread:

Lending Service (BTC Only) [Max $300] Help Charity.
3542  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] Blackjack.fun Signature Campaign | Up to $130/wk | 40th wks Running on: April 18, 2022, 04:19:21 PM
Thanks for the clarification, sujonali1819 .

Btw, have fellow campaign members received payment? I don't see it and as it is the first time I don't know if nobody has received the payment yet or if for some reason it has not arrived to me.
3543  Economy / Economics / Re: Another no privacy from Russian Bankers on: April 18, 2022, 02:17:18 PM
This will be the end of privacy in Russia for crypto users, if this go as planned by the Russia banks which consists of many Russia banks, there will be no privacy again,

This is not possible, except if they can achieve to ban cryptocurrency entirely in the country, remember how the EU recently make some moves as well to ban bitcoin and its corresponding PoW because of energy consumption among other financial laundering accusations but it was later voted against...

You are getting confused in the same way that user franky1 got confused in the EU thread I opened about this:

Goodbye, privacy, goodbye, it was nice while it lasted.

There was a second vote on a second draft in which basically they want to KYC all transactions going through the EU, even $1 or 1 euro if you prefer and this vote on the second draft was passed. There are still steps to go before it is approved but if it is approved in its initial spirit it will be an attack on privacy and sets an example to the rest of the world, as we see now in the example of Russia.

If measures like this become generalized around the world, you will still be able to make P2P trades with an individual to sell you a product or service but more than 99% of the transactions will become KYC, forcing non-custodial (centralized) wallets to KYC their customers and blacklisting those who do not collaborate.
3544  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] Blackjack.fun Signature Campaign | Up to $130/wk | 40th wks Running on: April 18, 2022, 09:26:42 AM
Can you give examples of which topics are gambling discussion mega threads?

I was wondering that as well, as 99% of topics on the gambling boards look to me as mega threads. As a rule of thumb, I try no to post too much on topics beyond page 5, but I'll wait for his clarification as well.
3545  Economy / Gambling / Re: Video Course of BlackJack for people who want to learn BlackJack on: April 18, 2022, 08:10:53 AM
Luck in gambling is unpredictable, but without basic knowledge (of course it is better if there is more of this knowledge) about blackjack, it is also impossible to win. I have an assumption that the probability of winning in gambling doesn't depend on luck or knowledge in particular, but in their combination. In what proportions, it is difficult to say, but if we cannot influence luck, then we can influence knowledge (their acquisition). Video courses can help us with this, for example.

In reality, luck is only unpredictable in the short term, not in the long term. That is why casinos can operate and make money, because of HE. If long term luck were unpredictable, casinos would not be able to operate.

A casino offering a double-or-nothing style game with 1% HE cannot predict what will happen when you bet $1 on a spin today, but it can fairly reliably predict that after 1M spins it will have won $10K.

For me these videos what can help is the gambler to play in a more rational way, having better results in the short term and losing less in the long term, but I doubt very much that they manage to teach to play EV+ as I said in the previous comment, and if so, I hope someone will prove it, but I doubt very much that they can do it and nobody replying in this thread has proven it so far.
3546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in the Eye of the Storm, According to Glassnode Co-Founders – Here's why ! on: April 18, 2022, 07:55:09 AM
Despite what all of these peddlers say, it is never a good idea to invest based on expectations about the economic situation. If you want to buy Bitcoin there are better reasons to do so than trying to guess whether the stock market will go up or down, and whether this in turn will affect Bitcoin, etc. Although most of the retailers who buy Bitcoin play this game, trying to guess by trading, and also the vast majority end up losing money.

As easy as it is:

1) Buy Bitcoin.
2) Don't do anything else at least until the next cycle.

For people with little capital it would be better:

1) Regularly buy as much Bitcoin as your budget allows (DCA).
2) Do nothing else until at least the next cycle.

3547  Economy / Gambling / Re: Looking for a sports betting/casino sponsor to support our football pool on: April 18, 2022, 06:17:10 AM
Sounds like a good idea, but what would be the benefit for the sponsor?
Getting a bunch of new players, who will get free spins and free bets?
All the crypto casinos/sports betting websites want paying gamblers, not "freebie seekers".

The main benefit of being a sponsor is usually advertising, which attracts customers to the venue. Regarding "freebie seekers", giving things for free usually increases sales a lot, that's why companies do promotions like buy 1 get 1 free and such. Look at a site like freebitco.in which is famous for giving free satoshis, and tell us if it loses a lot of money to freebie seekers or what.
3548  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: LTC CASINO NOT paying winnings . 1496 Ltc to be paid on: April 17, 2022, 08:25:10 AM
- your casino doesn't have any gaming license and is not providing even the name of the owner company or any address of it. Seems a bit scam, isn't it?

No, in this forum it does not usually look like a scam. In fact, you can have a great reputation in this forum if you run 2 unlicensed casinos for many years and you are famous for very late payments. On the part of not having a license, I suppose it is because privacy and decentralization in the forum is highly valued.
3549  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit logged me out without withdrawing my funds on: April 17, 2022, 07:14:15 AM

1xbit casino promised not to scam and resolve their issues from the users, so there could be a chance for you if they really will live up their words.

OP doesn't have any idea what 1xbit is until he can't withdraw the funds in his account. The bitcointalk community however already knew the casino a longtime ago, its not just you who fall from their trap. If you have the funds today bigger than what you usually have before, then you are likely not going to get them  back.

The problem is that their word is worthless. They also promised to take care of the quality of their posters in the signature campaign and what they have is a bunch of shitposters spamming the signature on the gambling boards. I don't see them outside of those boards, and surely it's because as they only write garbage, if they write in other boards, they are immediately reported and their posts deleted.

OP, I hope you get your money back, but we are talking about a known scam site and I think it is unlikely. Whatever happens, keep us updated.

3550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Still Supporting And Playing On Newly Launch Casinos on: April 17, 2022, 07:01:05 AM
Not really. For me to try a new crypto casino, it would have to have a good poker offering, and that is highly unlikely in a start-up crypto casino. Even the ones that have been around the longest can't compare to the fiat rooms in terms of traffic and software. On the other hand, there is the problem that if they are non-kyc, collusion is more likely to occur, and this is another reason that puts me off.
3551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no intrinsic value on: April 17, 2022, 03:43:19 AM
Is it really the best way to invest your money?

Because of the way Bitcoin generates value or becomes more expensive, it could potentially lose all its value and became worthless.
Who assures you that this will not happen?

If you are going to claim that Bitcoin has no intrinsic value, you would do well to explain why it does not. To me you've seen it written somewhere without stopping to think much about what it means.

I've seen several reasons to defend that, such as it doesn't produce cash flows, or that it's not backed by any government. In general, the arguments used are garbage. In the first case, we can see that there are many things that don't produce cash flows and do have intrinsic value, such as a mansion you live in that is worth $10M. The second is laughable, because the currencies backed by the government we can see that they have value but decreasing value that tends to 0, something that we can see taken to the extreme in economies that end up dollarizing as in South America. And on the other hand, if that were the case, gold would not have any value either because it is not backed by governments.

I think there are more arguments, but instead of trying to show why they are wrong I will go to the positive part. Bitcoin, yes it has intrinsic value because:

1) It is the best invention we have to store and transfer value, especially in medium and large amounts.
2) It is scarce, and with a total limit to its production.

3552  Economy / Gambling / Re: Online casino. What's the reliability of the technology? on: April 17, 2022, 03:31:20 AM
To what extent is the online  slot game machine RTP reliable based on it's technology?

As has been happening in many aspects of the Internet, it is not that the technology is reliable, it is that it is even better than that of the physical roulette, since there are no physical imperfections in the algorithm.

It is always better to play in reputable casinos just in case, because scams abound on the internet, and more in the crypto world, but casinos are money-making machines if they manage to attract customers, and even more if they make them loyal with promotions. With RTP technology they ensure a certain amount of profit per x spins on average.
3553  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive income : Bank interest vs staking on: April 16, 2022, 01:58:24 PM
For me, the answer is neither. The money I have in the bank uninvested I keep as an emergency fund. I don't care how little the bank gives me, and I know that if I discount inflation I lose money, but I take it as insurance.

As for the staking, it is true that it gives more interest than the bank, and I was about to remind you that the higher the profitability, the higher the risk when I read stompix's post:

Of course, it does, wow,  28% APY, where do I get those tokens to earn billions?
Oh wait, did you say ICP?

ICP as in the thing that crashed from 424 to 17$?
So if I would have staked with ICP a year ago I would have put down 424$ of cons and got back 22$ with all the APY.
Sorry, 1% bank interest sounds better than losing 95%.

Wake up people, before you end up poor!

I would see sense in staking with stablecoins, but there are other options, such as buying shares of good companies that pay growing dividends.

Keep in mind when investing: it is better to invest in something that does not give you passive income if the total return is higher.

If investing in a shitcoin that gives you a passive income results in a loss of more than 90% of your investment and on the other hand, having invested the same amount in Bitcoin that you keep with your private keys gives you more than 90% return, the latter is preferable.

Here you can clearly see the trade-off but it can also be applied to dividend paying stocks: if investing in a certain stock will give me a 3% dividend but only a 2% capital appreciation in the long term, I will do better investing in an index fund that does not give me dividends (passive income) but gives me a 10% return.

3554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Murphy's Law and Bitcoin: My Point of View on: April 16, 2022, 01:44:16 PM
I believe that Murphy's law has nothing to do with this. I simply believe that what you are telling us is yet another example of how prohibiting something does not serve to put an end to it. Throughout history it has happened with many other issues, such as prostitution, drugs, alleged witchcraft, etc.

Apart from what you say, I think this forum is also a good example of how little the measures taken by the politicians of your country have served to get what they want, because you are a large Nigerian community very active in this forum.
3555  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 16, 2022, 10:27:17 AM
I voted no, we are not going to enter a bear market but I see no reason to return to a bull market either. More than a technical analysis isolated from reality, I believe that what can catapult the price up or down are certain events, and not to extend some alleged patterns in a chart. I think it is more likely, in the absence of catastrophic or wonderful news, that we are going to stay in a kind of sideways.
3556  Other / Meta / Re: Help end this phase for Nigerians @Theymos on: April 16, 2022, 09:55:27 AM
I hope you get your own local board because you really want it. But please don't use posts made in gambling boards as a reason why that should happen. I am not familiar with the post quality in that particular thread that you linked to, but many other discussions in the gambling boards have the same problem. The people posting there have no idea what they are talking about. They don't know much about sports, they probably don't watch it either, and they don't gamble. Check out the amount of spam that is generated every weekend when most of the football action takes place. There are hundreds of posts about half-time and full-time results, who scored the goals, and in what minute. You will rarely see someone make a comment about a particular situation that happened in the match where you would see that the person actually watched it and decided to share his thoughts.

Regarding what I have put in bold, I think it is the other way around. Most of them gamble more than they should.

But yes, that thread should not be considered a reason to create a local Nigerian board. On the other hand, this one created by Brainboss, could be a reason to consider creating a Nigerian local board:

Nigeria (Naija)

We can see that the thread has comments daily, although I suppose that if a local board with several sections were created, the movement seen in the thread would be diluted.

3557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could hit $100,000 within a year, crypto firm's CEO predicts! on: April 16, 2022, 08:22:12 AM
Yeah, right, and it could also have hit $100K six months ago. In fact it was the minimum expected by everyone involved in this world for the past year, some predictions giving much more. We won't get too excited about that prediction, but maybe people who don't know much about this world will be motivated to invest through his firm.
3558  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and investment on: April 16, 2022, 08:14:18 AM
  • Will you continue to invest even if it is only 10%-20% of your total monthly income?

Yes. If you can invest less now because everything has gone up, then invest less. In general, what you have already invested, if it is in high quality investments, will tend to go up as well, so even though you may have less disposable income, your net worth should not be affected as much.

  • How do you achieve financial stability during this inflation?

Let us clarify what we mean by financial stability. According to the first result I get in google:

"When you are financially stable, you feel confident with your financial situation. You don’t worry about paying your bills because you know you will have the funds. You are debt free, you have money saved for your future goals and you also have enough saved to cover emergencies. Financial stability isn’t about being rich. "

Acoording to this, I achieved financial stability before entering this period of high inflation. How you and others achieve it depends on many variables. I would summarize it as:

1) Have a contingency or emergency fund. This is the first thing you have to have.
2) Keep investing (I assume that, as you say, you already have investments).
3) Try to increase your income. Try to get paid more for your current sources of income and also try to have more sources of income.
3559  Economy / Economics / Re: Where should I invest? on: April 16, 2022, 06:34:11 AM
Well, I differ from the previous answers. Before making any financial investment, what you have to do is to invest in yourself, in knowledge. Read about personal finance, about investing, and then about Bitcoin and the rest of cryptocurrencies. With all the information that is available on the internet, if you have to base your investment decisions on the opinions we give you in a forum, you're not doing well.
3560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy concern for bitcoin users on: April 16, 2022, 03:52:11 AM
If you are concerned about privacy, just use DEX but what they are asking for is no different from what a bank asks for when you go to open an account. They have to know the origin of the funds you are going to put in because of anti-money laundering policies, which I don't think is so much a question of them as of government regulation, as has been said:

This is not exchange, it's the government that is demanding a lot of these things to be fulfilled...
