3541  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] If this happens, is it time to sell your Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2021, 07:46:03 AM
Yes, a rich individual, but a famous rich individual who will start a new FOMO - or some famous company.
Rich individuals like Elon were the sole reason for shitcoins like DOGE/SHIB being pumped even till today. Moreover, there are quite a few like Michael Saylor or the President Nayib Bukele who truly believe in the potential of Bitcoin and try to stay on radar without shit posting on twitter about other coins. Wish the future powerful investors be the same like Jack Dorsey/Saylor.

I believe that a lot of big investments happen through the OTC market and for the very reason that they stay under the radar of the public in order not to affect the price.
Indeed very true. We never know if companies like Apple own bitcoin which were bought through various OTC trades but if their trade tends to go public anytime in future it might create a bullish movement and can change the way how bitcoin was conceived in public back in the early days.

snip
snip

Interesting points, I cannot believe that Michael Saylor is the only one who sees Bitcoin
as he does and so I cannot believe that the top tech giants have not secretely moved into
Bitcoin yet. They know with their power it would be easy to create a mass frenzy of buying
which would ruin their chances of buying "cheap".

Saylor in particular as well as Dorsey and Bukele have an unbelievably positive outlook,
they cannot be the only ones and their outlook cannot go unnoticed and not acted on by
others.

The thing which sets Djokovic apart from the rest is that is can play at his
top level on all surfaces. His fitness, health and relative injury free at
his age is remarkable.

Medvedev seems to have this also although being younger of course,
but he favours hard courts.

Stockholm

Andy Murray is back in action today against Durasovic and is a big favourite to win.

I also have Fritz to beat Gerasimov.
3543  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [REFERENCE] Magazines & Newspapers with Bitcoin Articles (Pre 2009 - 2019) on: November 08, 2021, 10:57:11 PM
for example there is
a 2011 New Yorker Magazine on ebay currently for $1495 - not mine sadly!
There are still a few listed for $200-$600 here : $200 and $600. I still remember the auction on which I got this monumental piece for a cheap steal from none other than SatsLife. @SatsLife, I believe our auction was the final one to be conducted in this forum it seems as I've never seen another piece coming up for sale/auction later. Did they?

It's the ones that you never see on ebay that will be hard to source. The New Yorker has been popping up less and less. And I have also not seen the 2011 Economist for sale publicly in about 2 years. Last private sale I'm aware of was in 4 figures.
Wish I had got hold of an Economist and Wired as well during the 2019 bear market itself. Have seen Citadel Vol 1 going up for as high as $750 but was unable to remember the tweet though. Are there any documented private sales of these you are aware of? Have quite a few, though unwilling to sell them but looking for a price discovery!

Also, is anyone aware of the documented prices of Diario Sept 7 from ebay or any other market apart from our forum? Have more than a dozen piled up somewhere safely!  Tongue

I have seen a few "Bitcoin Day" newspapers sell on ebay with ranging prices from
less than $100 and this one for over $400 in September.

I cant believe I have missed out on so many magazines over the years, I suppose
if you are not looking out for them they escape your attention.
3544  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] If this happens, is it time to sell your Bitcoin? on: November 08, 2021, 07:43:09 AM
I'm of the long term HODL camp, I dont really mind what the Bitcoin market does
short term eventhough its interesting to see how the markets move.

There are definitely those who advocate for selling the hoghs and buying back at
the lows, I'm not skilled to know when or have the conviction to take the gamble.

There are those who cannot see six figures, I dont belong with them and there are
those who think its different now, the investment profile is different and populated
by long term HODLers, like myself.

I voted #3
3545  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Does anyone use cryptocurrencies to buy assets and services? on: November 07, 2021, 10:50:15 PM
I would like to know if anyone here uses cryptocurrencies to buy assets and services, I would also like to know if most companies accept crypto you would buy and why not buy such a service.Would they buy food in crypto?

Not very marketplace accepts Bitcoin, thats obvious but where possible I try
to use Bitcoin, for example my website domain and website hosting is paid for
with Bitcoin. My email is also paid for with Bitcoin.

Orangewebsite.com
Hostinger.com
Protonmail.com

Given the chance I would pay for more services with Bitcoin but I would be
mindful of not spending it all.

Its been a while since this thread was updated abd @Timelord2067
will have limited visits to the forum in the short term I will make a
post once a week and update it for the week as best as I can.

To follow on from the last post in relation to The Autumn Internationals
week 2 was this weekend and a lot of matches happening.
Here are the results from the weekend, some predictable and some
not so much.

Ireland 60 - 5 Japan
Italy 9 - 47 New Zealand
England 69 - 3 Tonga
Wales 18 - 23 South Africa
France 29 - 20 Argentina
Scotland 15 - 13 Australia

I watched the Wales v South Africa match and Wales were s unlucky
to get beaten by South Africa. Wales were looking good for the win
but the last 10 minutes is where the damage was done by SA.

Argentina who have a decent record against France came within 9
points of them and Scotland overcame Australia who were really
on form coming into these games, well done to Scotland.

Well it was close enough over the 3 sets. And it was "Game on" after Medvedev
broke Djokovic on his first game. And there was lots of breaks throughout the match
but Djokovic can out on top.

As the third set progressed Medvedev's 1st serve became less accurate. Both players though
had quite a few unforced errors.

Again in the third set Medvedev was distracted as he served by someone in the audience.
I dont know why anyone would want to do such a thing, very unfair.
3548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 07, 2021, 02:18:24 PM
I took the risk and bet on Djokovic ML here, 2.09 for a boosted odds.

I know that Medvedev is really hot right now and destroying every one. But I think Djokovic will still wanted to prove that he is the top tennis player and wanted to get back at Medvedev in this finals. He has beaten Pete Sampras record already as the longest number 1 so he might want to keep it that way.

We all know that Djokovic loves records and wants to show that he is the best of all time by all indicators such as the number of GS won, other tournaments won etc.
Because of that, he was very shaken by the failure at the Olympic Games in Japan and at the last GS in America.
It was probably his last chance to win a Golden slam or grand slam.
Still, he managed to break Sampras ’record, as the longest number 1, and from that side they will be able to play the finals much more relaxed  Cheesy

Oh yes he loves records but couldnt make that extra GS in the U.S, I have Medvedev to
win today. Both players have had a shaky start to this tournament but hrough the rounds
I think Medvedev has shown to be more clinical.

Medvedev despatched Zverev yesterday in the semi final quite easily while Djokovic's semi
was a bit more difficult.
3549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I Missed Out of a 10 Year Bitcoin Investment Plan on: November 06, 2021, 04:49:48 PM
@Coupable, As at that time, I knew very little or nothing about Bitcoin. Perhaps his intention was to scam me. I can't say for sure but his presentation was quite convincing.

I think the plan was to buy over times, maybe throughout the first 1,2,3 years but he just needed an Investment capital for it.

While the presentation was interesting, the whole thing seemed vague to me, hence the reason i pulled out.

A lot of people here had an encounter similar to yours regarding Bitcoin but
as @BlackHatCoiner posted it was easy to be skeptical in the early days because
Bitcoin was revolutionary (still is actually!)

@Dripstoil what ever happened to that other oerson who approached you back then?
3550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 06, 2021, 04:18:11 PM

I have also made a bet on over games in second semi final, I don't see any value to bet on in Djoko match.

Personally I don't really care if it is Medvedev or Zverev in the final, I am betting on one of them against Djokovic. If I had to pick the winner I would go with Zverev to take the tournament at the moment but I am probably biased since I watched Zverev in almost all the matches while I did not see much of Medvedev and I did not watch even a minute of Djokovic games.

You are right, no real value in the match of Djokovic. I was looking at Djokovic -1.5 sets, but that odd (@1.6) was just not tempting enough. The bookies see Medvedev as a favorite against Zverev but could go both ways. Didn't really follow this tournament, but there is quite some value in over 2.5 sets @2.2.

Anyone betting against Djokovic though against Hurkacz? Or Hurkacz doesn't have a chance?

Maybe we can see an upset today, maybe my guts is correct, maybe I'm wrong. But I'm betting on Hurkacz. ML + parlay .

And regardless of on who will win on the second game, I have my bets ready of Hurkacz + parlay on both Zverev and Medvedev.

Hurkacz came tantalisingly close to a super win against Djokovic in the third set
tie breaker, 7-5 in that to Djokovic. Hurkacz ran him close, Djokovic was really stressed,
giving out to the cameraman and the umpire too at one stage.

I didnt bet on that one but I do have Medvedev to beat Zverev, who is a break ahead
in the first set now....
3551  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: November 06, 2021, 09:32:04 AM

Thats a great idea, you have thought it through Rick.

The content should definitely be viewable in a number of languages and not
relying on youtube's captioning. This should increase the reach of the channel.

I wonder how difficult it will be to get people involved? I cannot put myself
forward as I have only English.
3552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 05, 2021, 01:04:41 PM
Have been checking some of the betting websites and it seem they think Hugo Gaston has a chance at winning today.
I don't see it. But if you have the wisdom in seeing something that can harm Daniil in this matchup then go for it @6.40x odds.
Have put in the favorites to win: Hurkacz, Medvedev, Zverev & Djokovic -since he is fresh not having to play yesterday so it should only be a formality.

Hmm interesting, Gaston is a real tricky player who plays a lot of drop shots and
Medvedev is not great at the net but is very quick around the court. Also Gaston
will have MASSIVE support from the home crowd but that generally doesnt phase
Medvedev too much most of the time.

Gaston is still 6.4 to Medvedev's 1.11 on sportsbet.

It might be worth a cheeky bet on Gaston but I think I'll continue with Daniil.

https://firstsportz.com/tennis-medvedev-vs-gaston-preview-head-to-head-prediction-and-live-stream-for-paris-masters-2021/

https://www.thestatszone.com/tennis/2021-paris-masters-quarter-final-hugo-gaston-vs-daniil-medvedev-preview-prediction

These two sites predict Medvedev.

3553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 05, 2021, 07:39:39 AM
That was a strange match with Medvedev v Korda, apart from his aces and a handful
of magical shots in the 3rd set Medvedev didnt visually do much else.

Korda in the first set was very impressive and really mixed up his play, after
winning that first set he changed which allowed Medvedev a chance to get
back dictating his game.

In the end there were too many faults and misses by Korda, again psychology
was a big factor for both players.
3554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's so “convincing” about Craig Wright? on: November 05, 2021, 07:05:52 AM
Obviously I can't speak for the BSV peeps, but the way I see it: they've been so financially and emotionally invested in Craig Wright and BSV that they're pretty much in denial. I assume they've lost so much money(in BTC terms) if it's the case that they've converted their BTC to BSV, that it would be immensely painful for them to admit defeat, and accept the tremendous loss.

...while at the same time hanging on in the hopes that their Satoshi will be
proven (wright) in court.

The loyal supporters definitely see injustices to Wrights claim all the time and
100% support his claims in order to validate their blind following and
get back their investment.

It must be mightily stressful watching your BSV investment slowly melt
away as CSW's claim slowly melts away. There are those who are certainly heavily
invested who just cannot walk away.
I wonder how many secretly realise now that it was all a hoax?

Nice reference! Nice collection.

Is it impossible to find every issue…?

Nice collection. It's not impossible. Only a few are hard to come by.

Thats some collection of 40 magazines, yea its not impossible but
will/would take time, dedication and some investment - for example there is
a 2011 New Yorker Magazine on ebay currently for $1495 - not mine sadly!

3556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 04, 2021, 07:57:19 PM

I am looking forward to Dimitrov-Zverev match. Dimitrov is in the best form in last couple couple of years if not his entire career and I feel like he has a good chance to upset Zverev today. Managed to find odds @3.6 on him, which have immense value for me. Zverev has some small neck problems and this is 50:50 match IMHO, no way Zverev is as big favorite as the bookies think.

Thanks for the tip! Read a couple of previews online also and they also think that Dimitrov can cause an upset. Just placed a bet on Dimitrov +1.5 sets, which is a more safe bet for me. Lets beat the bookies  Wink.

I was going to bet on Zverev but didnt because of the potential threat Dimitrov
but not enough to back him either. Well Zverev won in 3 sets. Zverev almost had
the second set and even match point but Dimitrov dug deep to take the set anyway,
unfortunately for him he couldnt back it up in the third.

Just watching Korda v Medvedev, I have Medvedev to win here.

Also Ruud has beaten Giron and booked his place in the ATP finals. Super performance
from him throughout the year.

Well Monfils is actually playing quite well but I'm not sure he can beat Djokovic.

2 more serious match ups later today:
Dimitrov v Zverev
Korda v Medvedev
I really want to go with Zverev and Medvedev but Dimitrov is also playing very
well lately and Medvedev didnt look as sharp as I expected in his match
against Ivashka even in the 2 set win and Korda is very strong ATM.....

I'm undecided
3558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: An idea to make Bitcoin better on: November 04, 2021, 07:04:04 AM
So limiting the amount of coins and the amount of coins allowed in any one
wallet wont prevent anyone from buying and selling.

Therefore whales will still be able to accumulate large amounts of the limited
coin over time the issue the OP has a problem with will exist again
as odolvlobo states.

This smacks of "take it off the rich and give it to the ones that dont have it",
Its like some sort of archaic communist approach to making Bitcoin "Better"
3559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 04, 2021, 12:09:07 AM
A few upsets in Paris today, none of which were bets I had on.

Sinner - out
Rublev - out
Swartzman - out
Felix AA - out
Tsitsipas - out (retirement)

Interestingly for points Hurkacz and Norrie are through to the next round.
Norrie in particular needs to progress through as far as he can to get as many
points as he can, now with sinner out can he  get enough points?
3560  Economy / Speculation / Re: When new ATH? When moon? on: November 03, 2021, 10:20:06 PM
You forgot:

"When Lambo?"

SoonTM is also missing  Wink

It's been almost 2 weeks since Bitcoin made a new ATH from $65K to $67K. Price is currently (as or writing) around 5% down at $63.5K. But when will we see another new ATH in Bitcoin?

Don't you expect too much? The sooner the new ATH, the sooner the bear market will start (somewhere in 2022?).

How many of you are waiting patiently for 6 figures ?

Way too few. Most are waiting impatiently. Wink
But yes, 6 figures are being expected.

Yea its a nice guessing game, how can anyone know this question?

Its inevitable that it hits a new ATH either this month or next and yes the impatience
in some people is palpable. The ATH will happen shortly as will the 6 digits and there
is no rush.

I voted for tomorrow because anything is possible.
