35461  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: September 13, 2015, 12:39:20 AM
not sure if this is just my setup or not.

HTPC with vista32 ultimate that previously ran cgminer with various hardware.

when I ran novaks build of cgminer, it initially complained that zlib1.dll was missing. copied zlib1.dll out of an old cgminer to the novak cgminer folder and it then fired up.

normally cgminer comes with that file.

I did the same with w 7.  And w 10

35462  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: September 12, 2015, 11:58:53 PM
windows 10 has been harder still trying to get more then 2 sticks to work on a hub.
35463  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: September 12, 2015, 11:57:47 PM
And a mess at my house.  rained like a mofo.  So post office hands me a large box not wet from sidehack and co.

inside it is a drenched crushed box in which they pull the address off and glued it to the bigger box.

So I open the second box and 20 sticks are in it they seem to be okay.

I have been playing with 3 pc's

2 have windows 10 one has windows 7

the windows 7 is on a vmware fusion shell in a mac mini.  it is running 3 sticks.

on my  address at ckpool

I think it depends on the scale.  If your largest monthly expense is your electric bill; its not really a hobby any more.

yeah this is pretty much the case.

In the dead of winter I have done 690 usd for a power bill running 22 gpu's and 11 pc's

Kind of not a hobby at that point.

Now have I made a lot of money since 2012 no.  Maybe 7k in 3 years and 3 months .

So it is a business but not too big in my case.

If you ask me, any hobby that has a potential for profit is fantastic.  People spend tons of money on other hobbies that have no profit potential at all.   As long as you're enjoying what you're doing and having fun.  Sure mining might not be the most exciting hobby.  Really once they are set up and running there's no fun in watching the lights blink and the fans just spin and your bitcoin wallet balance increase at a glacial pace.  But some people just like playing with the new hardware and tweaking things to get the most out of it.  To others hash power is like horse power.  You can never have too much of it.  In the end this has taken up a lot of my time and I probably made some money in the long run, but if I didn't do this I'd just end up spending money on another hobby that keeps me busy but with no return.  So even if I lost say $1000 on mining, I would call it the cost of my hobby.

pretty much on the same page as you.

I use to build audio speakers ------------- good sound  but spent a lot on this.

I used to build pc's  ---------------------- was fun did not make much coin  mostly lost money
then up grade mac minis -------------  made a few thousand a year at this and always had 2 or 3 top of the line mac minis in the house.
then pc/gpu mining rigs ------------ made some money

now tweak asic rigs ------------------ makes some money

still build pc's for friends

mining has been the most fun  the feb mar apr 2013 run up

the sept oct nov 2013 run up

so much fun. more then any of the other hobbies.

based on the above if we hit right now   Jake36stick  would not get a share

It is interesting to see that my 1d average with the donated hash reads 72.7g   while yesterday I did a 5 hour rental of 5th I would think I should show 1th for the 1d average.  since 5/24 = 20 percent and 20 percent of  5th = 1th (I rounded on the 5/24 = 20%)

I will check the nicehash stats on my rental yesterday.

here is the rented hash we had around 5th for about 5.2 hours

so it looks like ck's 1 day average does not work the way I thought it would, not sure if this is a problem for running the club.

Remember most likely this pool club will never hit a block.

right now my rental is back up for 5 hours or so.

First 6 are all online and working and I am missing someone as the masterlist reads 7 workers  maybe it reflects

the offline Jake36stick  or maybe I missed someone.  number 8 is a place holder.

So far the biggest issues I can see are:

 1) people going on and offline.
 2) people/workers not telling me and not being on the list.

right now I have 7 listed on the master user list and I can only find 6 working.

pool is down to 3.2th .

I can not connect. so a little info on the thread would help
35471  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread sept 4th. to sept 17th Picks are closed. on: September 12, 2015, 11:57:26 AM
Bitwisdom is going up:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    56,957,648,455
Estimated Next Difficulty:    59,963,232,138 (+5.28%)
Adjust time:    After 819 Blocks, About 5.4 days
Hashrate(?):    453,542,410 GH/s

Not the direction we want to go.  Have to wonder at this point how many 5+ weeks we can have, i'm afraid of it being the new norm.

no not the new norm but very likely we get to a diff close to 70-75 by oct. then I hope we flatten  out.

157 Sept 4 2015 ---- This was partial  but it is +13  on a norm of 144  that is over 9%    that is really high number we  need to see the next few days.
150 Sept 5 2015 ---- +6   for the day about +19 for the first 261 blocks
142 Sept 6 2015 ----  -2        +17
151 Sept 7 2015 ----  +7       +24
138 Sept 8 2015 ----   -6       +18  It did slow a bit.
144 Sept 9 2015 ----   0         +18
168 Sept 10 2015 ---  +24       +42                brutal number but 3 in a row is what we need to worry about so lets wait until tonight to see
163 Sept 11 2015 ---  +19      +61                back to back high numbers

well kind of makes sense

the s-3 to s-5  was .8 watts to .5 watts  not 1/2  drop in power.

the s-5 to s-7 is .5  watts to .25 watts   that is a real 1/2 drop in power.

so upgrades are needed to keep up. My thoughts are sept 2015 to July 2016 will really be a ride.

I am still in to point my Stick when the Canada batch get it.

I am surprised you are throwing additional rented hash at this Phil, so i am going to reciprocate with what i can afford, i am adding an underclocked S1 as donation hash.

hi all!

I'm interested in joining up but I haven't mined before so I don't know anything. I got some sticks from sidehack coming in the mail soon. I was going to use ck pool anyway so if you wouldn't mind answering New Person questions then I could contribute my four sticks.

you can ask away.

only need point one and I can show you how to do it when you have 4 sticks

basically you list 4 pools and balance the loads.

so
 1 is us

2 is ck fully alone part 1
 3 another pool
4  is ck fully alone part 2 or a different pool

Can those of us waiting on sticks throw hashing power as well?

did you try to hash at the address?

please let me know.

OK, I'm in:

http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.edonkeystick

I was already pointing my sticks at CK's solo pool, but this seems like more fun.

Nice idea Philip!

okay I got it.

TheRealSteve  looked at one of my ideas on the first thread about this.  Gave it a bit of a twist I liked it I feel I can manage 50  with no worries.

and here we are.
35480  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens to the bitcoin mining hardware after reaching Algorithmic maximum ? on: September 11, 2015, 09:29:04 PM
i guess the mining hardware would just be used to mine other altcoins.
By the time it gets close I assume the miners will all be dual chips like the ones we currently have (sha/scrypt) to keep this going but by that time if Bitcoin is still going I would be impressed but too bad we will all be dead.

speak for yourself I am going to use my btc to buy the fountain of youth I plan to be alive for 500+ years.

back to op's question.

july 2016 = 12.5

dec 2018 = 6.25

aug 2021 = 3.125

jan 2024  = 1.5625

sept 2026 = 0.78125

feb  2029 = 0.390625   I will be 72

oct  2031 = 0.1903125

mar 2034 = 0.095156125  I will be 77    the network will be making about 13.7 coins a day  if the network exists  coins will be worth a lot

18 year later in 2052 I will be 96   the network will be making .099 coins a day   we still won't be at your  question yet.

I will venture this.  btc has died or humans have died or it is all good coins at about 20 k usd each and it all works on transactions fees.
