3561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Infographics] Does Football Betting Pay Off? on: September 04, 2022, 03:44:30 PM
This doesn't say anything at all. It only shows the percentage of people winning on a certain country on football betting, and that's it. The same infographic can be done on other sport and have people answer it. You can't confirm the bias on these people's answer so I don't think you can count on these numbers as somewhat reliable. No matter the sport you bet on, if you only bet on games that has an obvious outcome, you can make money off of it, and the more you bet on the sport, the more chances there is that you can lose on it too.
3562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Anderson Silva [rumours] on: September 04, 2022, 02:58:57 PM
If this fight ever happens it's obvious Jake Paul (6-0) will win this match. It's not about their history background, the fighting skills or the age differences, it's all about the money. I don't know why a living legend Anderson Silva(Boxing Record: 3-1) himself would lower his standard to fight a youtuber with a fixed match.

You already said it: money. This is the main motivation why a lot of legendary MMA fighters agreed to fight Jake on boxing even though they know that they will get their asses beat due to the terms of the fight. After the ass-whooping and throwing their experience and their selves in shame, they will get a fat pay check, which usually happens since the viewership of such events are through the roof. Hopefully for Silva he hands Jake some proper spanking, but I doubt that will happen.
3563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Strategies & Betting Psychology on: September 04, 2022, 02:06:12 PM
This might be helpful if I am a college undergrad looking to create a thesis for social studies, but apparently gamblers won't read that long of an article/paper before they make their bet. It's helpful that it's there whenever someone will need it for their researches and whatnot but as a gambler, we want something direct and straight to the point.

I think we should able to manage our risks when it comes to gambling rather than reading multiple online articles on gambling psychology and strategies to use which can drastically reduce the way we gamble to zero. Gambling is more of risk than what we are looking to make from it which I think we should be able to handle ourselves.

Even without using a betting strategy especially in sport betting, we can sti make good profits and earn more than those than are relying on a particular strategy to gamble and make winnings. I do prefer betting in a way that suit my interest than forcing myself to dance to a particular strategy that may choke my earnings later.

When a losing streak sets in, no strategy will help, no one is safe from this. If you play consistently for a long period of time, then everyone will have a losing streak at a distance, it is during this period that there will be the most nerves and loss of money, it is during this period that it would be worth stopping, but the desire to win will force you to play further. I've never been able to make money this way.

True. When a lose streak sets in, that's when you have to pray to the gods that you'll get it cut, or you just have to stop and call it a day. No strategy is applicable on a lose streak on luck-based games, and the best one can do on those situations is just walk away.
3564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's talk about p2e games and what awaits in the future on: September 03, 2022, 07:02:28 PM
P2E games are a thing of the past. It obviously wouldn't work in the long term, especially if the community is focused so much on gains and profit for themselves without even reinvesting some of their earnings back to the ecosystem. Also, what most P2E devs failed at on their games is that it's solely focused more on giving the players rewards without thinking of how to balance the economy. The ending? The game fails, and the value of the game's token tanks like there's no tomorrow.

For those wanting to play P2E games, better invest early and get profits as early as you can then get out. It's like an HYIP with extra steps at the end of the day Cheesy
3565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dealing with ISP block on Gambling websites on: September 03, 2022, 06:36:15 PM
I would just look for other casinos if I were you. This situation can be used against you by the casino in the future and that is not a pretty experience to have. If you win a big amount and the casino finds out that you're playing from a country that their services are not available to, they can easily forfeit your winnings on that grounds.

Search for a casino that works for your IP without any restrictions, then check its legitimacy and its features before jumping the gun and making your first deposit.
3566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Finding value bets on: September 03, 2022, 06:02:26 PM
For me, a bet where I am getting decent returns on a bet that is most probably about to win would be a value bet.
For example if I am placing a bet where I know that I would most probably win this bet and if the returns are over 1.5x times then I would consider it as a value bet.
The chances of winning the bet should be at least over 85% in this case. I have played such bets few times and won in most of the cases.

If that is your definition of a value bet without looking at the current news on the teams that are participating then you're screwed in the long run.

There are tons of favorites in sportsbetting that ended up losing to a relatively weaker team just because a key player is not playing. Just the NBA for example. A lot of us know that the Golden State Warriors are capable of defeating any teams in the league if they are complete even though they are not well-rested. If for example one of their key players cannot attend, their odds of winning the match is still the same in most cases. When matched with a relatively weaker team but with complete players, this team can still crumble, as their rotations are not the same compared to when they're complete.

It's important to look at the current news on the teams rather than the numbers and odds given by the bookies alone. This makes your bet more valuable as you know some of the things that could potentially ruin your bet.
3567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play online/offline without your wife or family knowing it? on: September 03, 2022, 05:14:37 PM

Now, this would be something of a thread where users can give tips as to how we play online/offline without our family knowing it. Curious how you do it.

My wife suspected me for almost a year already when I was watching a UFC channel on youtube where they suggest who to bet. Of course, I said No when she asked if I was betting. From then on I just hold my phone whenever she is not around. It's a long argument when your wife suggests buying this or that on amazon yet you gambling your funds. lol

If I was in your position, I would have told her the truth as it is better than hide it from her for too long time as it can be even worst in the future for your relationship.
Fortunately, my wife know what I'm doing especially if it is related to money (including gambling, trading, investing) and it is not a problem for her as long as I know how to manage my money and time so it wont affect our life.
You should tell her the truth if you ask me, explain and assure her that what you are doing is not something bad.

This is the easiest way IMO, though be prepared for a no when it comes to your gambling activities. It's great to be honest and all but it's kinda unfair when the wife can go on a shopping spree and the husband who normally provides for the family can't even spend something for himself. But yeah, if the conversation about this goes perfectly smooth, and that both sides understands where the other is coming from, it is possible to convince your wife to let you do your own thing while keeping everything in check and regulated as much as possible.
3568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: September 03, 2022, 03:12:32 PM
Inoue continues to conquer a lot of classes and divisions with his superb boxing skills. The man is really technical and knows his way around the ring. I'm not saying Paul Butler will be an easy enemy, but there is a high possibility that Inoue wins this match without much contest from the other contender. Paul Butler can train as hard as he can and study Inoue's moves in the ring as extensive as he can, but the distance between the knowledge of these two fighters is just far and wide.
3569  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What I've learned after 3 years building an algo trading bot on: September 03, 2022, 02:34:22 PM
Your insight on neural networks and historical data is on-point. I've watched a video wherein they tried to train an AI to trade and hopefully profit off of the bot. Turns out, using historical data on highly volatile markets as a reference for the bot will only end up in shambles, as it will always try to find and match certain patterns that it has recognized on the historical data and try to correlate it with the present, which for the most part does not really makes sense. I'm amazed with how trading bot creators, especially those which are mostly profitable, create their bots in such a way that it will ignore past trends and try to make sense of what's in front of it. I'm a coder myself but I'm on the lighter side of coding and I only do it for fun. If I were given a chance to study again, perhaps it will be AIs, machine learning, neural networks, and the deeper side of comsci just to try and 'understand' how you guys do it.
3570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casino Stake.com sued for $400 million on: September 03, 2022, 12:24:39 PM
I'd love to hear more of this, I hope there would be an update soon with the case.

it's kind of weird that Chris Freeman's stake in the casino was reduced from 20% to 14% while Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani stake in the casino did not(I assumed it wasn't reduced because it was never mentioned in the article that their stake was affected)? I wish they'd give more information since I think this one is still lacking.

Stake's founders did the same like the Facebook founders' situation. In Facebook, because Eduardo Saverin wasn't always present in Facebook's offices, Mark Zuckerburg with the help of some lawyers diluted Saverin's share of the company, to issue more shares for new investors. Eduardo Saverin and his lawyers sued, and Mark Zuckerburg and Facebook settled the case without going to court. "Money for damages caused".

In the case of Eduardo Saverin, he was there during a lot of crucial moments and a lot of meetings that made Facebook grow as a company in its initial stages. He's also with Mark when they needed funding to continue Facebook's operation at the time. Mark only cut off Saverin on a very crucial meeting in which Saverin can't come up to a decision, and Zuckerberg mentions that he "can't take the lag".

For Stake.com and Freeman's case, not a lot of involvement happened between Stake and Freeman. They had a very important collaboration in PrimeDice but not in Stake, so I guess that will be Stake's initial answer to this lawsuit that is being fired at them. Whatever the case is, this will most probably get settled out of courts. Freeman has a weak case so far, but Stake needs to do some damage control too.
3571  Economy / Economics / Re: Working hours | How many are too many? on: September 03, 2022, 10:16:45 AM
I guess it has a lot of something to do with the sector you are in and what kind of job you are working on. I work in a laboratory for a private firm conducting researches on a lot of things, and I usually just go home whenever I want to so long as the project or the milestone that we need to achieve is met. I was never asked to come to work early, nor asked to stay for a lot longer than necessary. But back when I was still waiting tables and work as a utility guy for a restaurant, we were always expected to come in to work 2 hours before our actual shift and spend another hour or so after shift to help with the transition. Pay is awful and the work is extremely hard but hey, it's where I learned how to be extremely patient anyways.

Typically in my country, we have 40 hours/week too, but usually that hours is just a guideline as a lot of employers here in the Philippines are extremely stingy when it comes to paying their workers right. They'd be expecting an employee to work close to 60 hours/week and that extra 20 hours will just be paid with a 'thank you' which sucks.
3572  Economy / Gambling / Re: chinese bookmakers with tf gaming platform NO KYC on: September 03, 2022, 08:28:14 AM
Well, Chinese platforms often do not advertise themselves in other places apart from their target audience (Chinese). It makes much more sense since they only need to focus their attention on on market and be able to customize their service on one specific demographic.
~snip~
-snip-
However, regarding the KYC which is a case-to-case basis which is we need to investigate why there is no KYC.

It might be that they're operating under the radar, and that their operations are illegal, or that they employ no KYC until a certain extent, e.g. you won something big or there is a suspicious activity on your account. Whatever the reason is, I think it should be the least of our worries. Why would I even think of their reason why they do not have any KYC if I'm not the target market anyway? If I made the decision to play on their website, while knowing that they have no KYC and non-compliant on a lot of regulations, that's on me.
3573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best apps for sports betting tips on: September 03, 2022, 04:54:13 AM
My go to is Reddit usually. I know it sounds funny but there are some good tipsters out there on the r/sportsbook sub and also the main sport that you want to bet on e.g. r/nba, r/mlb etc. It's just that it's hard to sift through the good predictions and the trolling ones sometimes, but the insights that they give out usually is pretty helpful for you to make your bet, if you don't quite believe what they are saying on their prediction page. Also, watch out for picks of the day on reddit. Usually these guys who give out these picks are seasoned tipsters out there, and they wouldn't risk dirtying their reputation for a bad pick.
3574  Economy / Economics / Re: Two Chinese local banks enter bankruptcy procedures on: September 02, 2022, 09:33:44 PM
The fact that these banks can get away with filing for bankruptcy and noy return people's money is scary. Also, the fact that the governmeny is aiding these banks in trying to repel the stakeholders and silence everything is also something that needs to be addressed. If I were a Chinese doing business with small local banks, I'd be scared as hell and would be withdrawing everything that I have there. I'd move my funds somewhere else, and certainly not in a bank that is small and doesn't have the ability to liquidate their assets for reimbursements. A lot of people lost their money while the bank is allowed to file for bankruptcy. It's a shameless thing that they're doing there in China, but outsiders can only condemn and not really do a thing.
3575  Economy / Gambling / Re: chinese bookmakers with tf gaming platform NO KYC on: September 02, 2022, 07:56:21 PM
I see at BTC365.com that they are licensed from Montenegro. That immediately reminds me of the Cloudbet platform, but I don't think this is a Cloudbet project. I also don't know if this site is reliable. They don't have an ANN on Bitcointalk and I can't find a lot of info about them either. Founded in 2020 so it seems, so still fairly new on the market. That doesn't always mean much. You will have to look and judge based on reviews from other players whether or not you are going to play here. I wouldn't put any money into it right now.

I definitely agree with your statement.

Not to be biased against Chinese gambling websites but in order to secure your money, better bet and use your funds in a more reliable online gambling platform with a designated ANN thread in this forum. With that in mind, communication between you and their service is relatively easier and closer. While their website may not offer any KYC documents, you are still putting yourself at risk in the event that a conflict arises.

Like what I always say, prevention is always better than cure; put your money in a more secured and reliable website instead!

Well, Chinese platforms often do not advertise themselves in other places apart from their target audience (Chinese). It makes much more sense since they only need to focus their attention on on market and be able to customize their service on one specific demographic. These Chinese platforms are not generally recommended for people who does not speak the language, or people that does not live in China. They may be a reliable website for the Chinese players but what do we know anyway if we aren't using it and we're not the target demographic?
3576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casino Stake.com sued for $400 million on: September 02, 2022, 07:25:37 PM
$400 million in punitive damage? That's insane! I believe it's a good time to withdraw your funds from Stake asap because you never know the outcome of the lawsuit. This is not the first time we have seen such ownership dispute in crypto world but the amount this time is insane. So just to make your funds safe, move to a different casino for the time being.

This kind of issue is what makes or breaks a respectable gambling website. Like what I previously mentioned, owning a gambling casino revolves around building a brand and a collective ecosystem where people would want to continue gambling in to your website. Anything that includes lawsuits, conflicts, or even customer service feedback can heavily impact the popularity of a gambling website.

Since a lawsuit has been filed in Stake, expect that there would be people withdrawing their funds in order to protect and secure their money. Even if the lawsuit fails, this still creates some sort of damage on Stake's popularity and image as a whole.

IMO the damage is only done if Stake tried to game the system and avoid litigation as much as possible. Also, this hasn't gone to the courts yet, only filed by the other party seeking just compensation for what Stake's owners and founders did. Stake will do just fine if they just went with the flow and pay the money awarded by the courts should they favor the other party. They can do that easily, as Stake can pay the likes of Drake and still give out tons of generous bonuses to their users.
3577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Anderson Silva [rumours] on: September 02, 2022, 06:41:23 PM
Anderson Silva is not known for his punches in the MMA scene. Even though he's won a boxing match, I doubt it is enough of a weapon for him against an opponent that picks fighters that are obviously not strong in the boxing department. Jake's strategy of choosing famous MMA fighters with weak punching abilities puts him in the limelight of being 'on par' with these guys. But if the fight is MMA, I doubt Jake will last a long time against these seasoned grapplers.

One thing's for sure though, Silva or not, Jake is going to bag a lot of money in his future fight. He's mastered social media marketing and building hype on his bouts. He's a great advertiser and businessman, but I can't say much about his actual fighting skills.
3578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: September 02, 2022, 04:24:34 PM
Can't wait for it, my results in last 2 DOTA tournaments were unbelievably good so I am looking forward to make some big bets. Been bleeding money on tennis and football evere since ESL one finished.

I've been bleeding because most of my bets on ESL One ended up losing big time. I totally went from parlay to a single bet and none wins lol. Especially on the final day when OG decided to wake up then sweep the entire game without losing a single map

Anyway, TI qualifiers would be nasty though as most teams will not be messing around this time. For some region like NA and SA, the favourites teams might just ended up winning but nasty EU region will most likely kinda unpredictable. Glad that we are starting with SA and EEU region first for the qualifier

OG has new player today and it is looks like the a chance for another TI champion to them because of the ESL One Malaysia they easily slain the Team Aster also they have a really good drafting and now the Dota 2 battle pass releases in the public too for sure we can see different chat wheel spams in the game, I just made a prediction right here which is the OG, LGD and the Team Spirit will face in the final match of up top 4 teams in the Sea server there's a chance that T1 but we have the Fnatic and Boom.

I doubt OG will get a new player to their Dota 2 roster. They already found the synergy between these 5 guys and it's just Misha who's always not there due to visa issues. He's still a good support that helps enable Yuragi in lane and I doubt they'd want to replace him because of that.

I Hope ANA gets a larger hero pool or the opposite teams will just ban his heroes.
I think that if they'll ever do that, they'll leave a lot of opening for Topson and Kuku. So I think teams should balance their bans and it will also depend on the bans of T1.

I'm not worried about ana one bit. What worries me is that Kuku doesn't seem to be grinding as hard as he could on pubs. I've been watching him for 5 straight days and all the time, he does these questionable mid-game decisions that either costs them the game or gives the enemy an unfair advantage which makes the game harder. To think that he's the captain of T1, it terrifies me.
3579  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks are changing ..... Bitcoin should wake up and innovate more! on: September 02, 2022, 03:39:51 PM
The banks that I've been dealing with for over a have since moved to a more digital approach on their banking services. Since the smartphones became more and more popular, and a lot of people have become more connected to the internet, it's a no-brainer for banks to really move into that space. It's just that a lot of their customers are still stuck with passbooks and the old ways that they cannot do a full overhaul of their services.

Bitcoin remains as is because it is not actively competing with the traditional banking system. If anything, it just offers an alternative to people who are looking to store/invest their money elsewhere.
3580  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casino Stake.com sued for $400 million on: September 02, 2022, 02:36:19 PM
That's a huge demand for punitive damage, and I doubt that Stake.com will agree to pay this settlement at all. The case isn't even finalized, and it's still up to the courts whether they'd proceed with this or not. What they did with Freeman is awful, but I guess the amount is still outrageous to say the least. Hopefully this gets settled in a way where both parties are happy with the outcome albeit a relationship that is already tarnished.

This could go become a long process because both have money especially Stake who needs to win this case in their favor as they have a business to protect, Freeman could opt for out court settlement if he has a good case this case will followed by the whole industry as its can involved a major shakeup in the standing, Stake can opt for out of court settlement it's better this way to end this so players will not doubt on the status of Stake.com.

If Stake.com managed to get the settlement done and all parties are happy with the outcome, this might even become a boost for Stake.com since they managed to solve the situation at hand and not evade it at all.
