Folks, a semi-competent script kiddie can drop a billion IP packets on the internet directed to btc-e (for example) with any "from" address you want (like mt-gox). All the responses will go to the "from" address... so its pretty useless for everything except DDOS attacks. Smart routers might drop the packets, but I guess not in this case.

Absolutely not. There is not such a thing as the "from" addresses, these are not mails. The attack you are taking about requires exploit (serious ones) on the edge routers among the attacker and the attacked. No, that's not going to happen nor has happend. It's simply them being unable to put in place a minimal dos (I think) or ddos (unlikely) protection in place and blaming their ignorance on their competitor to gain some fan. Stupid move, dear. |

When do you except the ASIC fab to deliver? This, if I can image it correctly, is the biggest step in the creation of the basic. So it's the only variable date that really matters, everything else can be done consequently without problems.
If you don't want to reply to this, I have an alternate one: do you still except to ship during "the first week after thanksgiving"?

Eg: when do you except the ASIC fab to deliver, when you except a prototype, when you except a power estimation, when you will publish your almost final power figures, when you will post your initial chip performances, when you will start the assembly, etc, etc...?

Ho parlato attraverso skype con chi produce l'ASIC cinese a 1200$, intanto dice che la consegna non vi sarà prima di Gennaio 2013, poi che il ROI sara in appena 4 mesi? Mi chiedo da ignorante in materia, dopo aver visto i vostri commenti, è possibile una cosa del genere?

Se vedi quanto sono aumentate le specifiche prima ancora del lancio e se calcoli che gli ASIC attuali sono costruiti con tecnologia "vecchia", non è impossibile pensare ad un dimezzamento o anche meno del costo degli stessi in 5-6 mesi oppure un raddoppio delle prestazioni a parità di prezzo...Detto questo sto valutando anche io l'acquisto di un ASIC ma sperando in un ROI del 100% in un anno Ma sicuramente, sono convinto pure io che ogni sei mesi/un anno dimezzeranno i consumi e i costi. Tuttavia poco mi interessa, spero solo che il mio ordine mi arrivi prestino che voglio divertirmi (si, non mi interessa del ritorno, voglio divertirmi) Comunque mi sono fatto i miei calcoli, e dopo una settimana in cui andavo in giro a pontificare "no, non comprare sti asic!" ho cambiato idea e mi sono buttato |

A) I Believe BFL has been misleading customers, I do not believe they even had any sort of product when they offered pre-orders, They were just raising capital to build this dream machine.
B) BFL avoids answer questions in order to further there standing in the market. It may not be illegal but it is not very moral.
C) They provide smoke screens to please the masses when things start to stir up for them to continue sales. 1000 Coin bet, Trip to the factory, Things of that nature. Once again throwing smoke screens to avoid being looked at harder.
Like I said I do not doubt they will provide a product, but anyone who says they are not just a little disappointed thus far is not being honest with them self. You will get your product..... October.... Nov..... Dec....... You will get it when you get it do not question me.

OMG they have no ASIC made 5 days ago but they have made one in less than 5 days by fingering themselves! Stop believing in them and face the truth! My question was why are you talking about 5 days ago (the pics of the hardware where already been showed) and not as of now? What info did you got 5 days ago? Nessuna denigrazione: solo un opinione personale nel mio caso (che spiego meglio nell'altro post che ho fatto). Inoltre gli ASIC non sono mainstream ma esattamente il contrario: con le schede video chiunque può guadagnarsi qualche bitcoin con investimenti moderati o magari anche nulli, con gli ASIC solo i grandi investitori possono farlo. Da una parte sento che l'ex amministratore è stato arrestato in Italia per vari reati, dall'altra sento che non esiste un simile hardware, non so più a chi credere.
Voi cosa ne pensate allo stato attuale, io sarei interessato a quello da 599$ da 60GH/s ma sono davvero così potenti? Esiste tale hardware? La concorrenza cè in questo caso e chi sono?
