A few upsets in Paris today, none of which were bets I had on.

Sinner - out
Rublev - out
Swartzman - out
Felix AA - out
Tsitsipas - out (retirement)

Interestingly for points Hurkacz and Norrie are through to the next round.
Norrie in particular needs to progress through as far as he can to get as many
points as he can, now with sinner out can he  get enough points?
3562  Economy / Speculation / Re: When new ATH? When moon? on: November 03, 2021, 10:20:06 PM
You forgot:

"When Lambo?"

SoonTM is also missing  Wink

It's been almost 2 weeks since Bitcoin made a new ATH from $65K to $67K. Price is currently (as or writing) around 5% down at $63.5K. But when will we see another new ATH in Bitcoin?

Don't you expect too much? The sooner the new ATH, the sooner the bear market will start (somewhere in 2022?).

How many of you are waiting patiently for 6 figures ?

Way too few. Most are waiting impatiently. Wink
But yes, 6 figures are being expected.

Yea its a nice guessing game, how can anyone know this question?

Its inevitable that it hits a new ATH either this month or next and yes the impatience
in some people is palpable. The ATH will happen shortly as will the 6 digits and there
is no rush.

I voted for tomorrow because anything is possible.
3563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not your vault, not your money. Why some nation-states will HODL Bitcoin. on: November 03, 2021, 03:10:11 PM
I get the idea, but that putting Bitcoin as something that helps the Taliban doesn't look good to me. Maybe they will learn their lesson and buy Bitcoion for what is good for them but they have a mentality of the Middle Ages. They don't seem to be very open-minded about decentralized systems.

Its more the citizens who will pay, I would like to think if there ever was a "currency"
which offered that as @Wind_FURY suggests  Roll Eyes, the Taliban would use at least
some of it to ease the suffering of Afghanistan's citizens.

Giving it to someone else to "mind" it is essentially the same as "not your keys,.........."

Of course the banks in Europe and U.S will be VERY reluctant to release those
funds to a rogue government such as the Taliban.
3564  Economy / Economics / Re: The Largest Crypto Exchanger in Thailand has been acquired by Commercial Bank on: November 03, 2021, 10:38:20 AM
It's safe to assume that entrepreneurs/businessmen know how difficult it is to make an exchange secure; but the fact is, it's safe to assume that running a cryptocurrency exchange is really really profitable if ran well, hence why they did the acquisition. The same way how Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway acquired Barrick Gold, a gold mining company, despite the fact that he's not a fan of gold. What matters to them mainly is the cash flow.

Makes sense for sure and a crypto exchange could yield bigger profit percentages
than traditional FIAT banking.

It looks like they have aligned themselves with the crypto space to take advantage of
the incoming interest in crypto and to be potentially offer FIAT style services in the
crypto space similar to what Coinbase announced yesterday.

As with Coinbase it looks like they see now huge growth in crypto

Does anyone know what his immediate goals are as a player? I mean what does
he think he can achieve currently? does he expect to win at least an ATP250 title?

Maybe he would be better off on the challenger circuit if he is after tournament wins.

I would also say he is massively frustrated but there has to be a time when he has
to simply realise that its time to quit.

I feel sorry for him and he has done brilliantly to get back to where he is now but this
looks like his limit.

I don't know if he is really frustated; I think he loves the game too much to retire. He has nothing more to prove, he won multiple grandslams and became olympic champion 2 times also. If he keeps losing, there will come a moment that he starts to realise that it is best for him to retire as an active player but until then he will probably keep on playing tournament after tournament.

I agree, he just probably enjoy the game itself, and not targeting of anything, he knows that it is difficult to win a tournament right now, with his form and the players in the current circuit.

He might as well just play it the way he wanted and that's it.

Bublik vs Ruud currently, Ruud won the first set 6-4 already. His probably gonna take this in two sets. Last game for today, hopefully we can get some win in Paris.

Ruud won easy enough from Bublik, 6-2, 6-0. For Bublik to only win 2 games in the
first set and got bagled in the second is very poor by his standards.

Bit of an upset in my mind was Tiafoe losing out to Giron in 3 sets. How many
times have we seen that, where a finalist of a previous tournament gets despatched
early in the next tournament.

I watched the Djokovic v Fucsovics match last night, 1st set was predictable with Djokovic
winning that but Fucsovics won the second and broke Djokovic's serve in the 3rd but his
service game was horrendous and his downfall.

Big day today, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Medvedev, Rublev and Zverev all in action.

We’re excited to announce that eligible customers can now borrow up to $1 Million USD from Coinbase.

Now you can borrow up to $1,000,0001 from Coinbase using your Bitcoin as collateral. Pay just 8% APR2 with no credit check.

Michael Saylor has been talking about this conceptfor a while in the same message
as not ever selling your Bitcoin, I didnt think this was going to happen this fast.

Personally I have mixed feelings, Bitcoin is being slowly morphed into traditional banking,
or traditional banking practices are being applied to personal Bitcoin holdings. Of course
nobody is being forced to do this, its a choice, how many of us would be willing to
apply for a FIAT loan while handing over BTC as collateral to Coinbase so they can
keep it safe?

Choose what to borrow

You can borrow as much as 40% of the value of the Bitcoin in your account, up to $1,000,000.

Get your cash

Using your bank account or PayPal, get access to your borrowed cash quickly with no fees.

Make monthly payments

The Bitcoin you use as collateral remains safely held by Coinbase. It’s not lent out or used for any other purpose.
3567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the effects of the G20 Summit on the Crypto Ecosystem on: November 02, 2021, 09:11:23 PM
How will this affect crypto mining, are miners going green after this or we might change our mining methodologies?

Miners are going into the green method already, although not 100% of course. But the point is that it does not take a G20 summit for them to explore renewable sources of energy. After all, the environmental issue in Bitcoin mining has been hotly discussed and debated several times already even before the G20 summit is scheduled.

Anyway, the crypto ecosystem has been thriving for years with or without the support of powerful countries. So I don't think there's much effect of this summit to crypto.

My thinking is Crypto miners are consumers of energy, they use what is provided
by the energy generators, isnt it up to them to source green renewable energy?
(not sure how that is achievable)

Bitcoin mining and energy consumption always attracts debate but I dont think
other industries ripping the earth apart in search of rareties or farming get
as much attention on the green agenda as Bitcoin.

On the G20, its just more waffle to be seen trying to do the right thing and afterwards
fly home in their private jets...

There are many who think there is no limit to how Bitcoin can climb price wise.
Bitcoin is still in its infancy and can attract much more attention, I posted before
that there are only going to be 21,000,000 coins, its limited and people in general
have yet to wake up to the benefits it offers and its superiority to any other investment.

3570  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting things off your list. on: November 02, 2021, 07:26:02 AM
Try out this strategy, strike things quickly out of your need/want list and be content, so they no longer become a problem and hindrance to your plans to save/invest.

If you plan to buy a house for your comfort, and it is within your means, seek out a way to get it done quickly.

If you plan to get a car, as you feel you are ripe enough for it, and there's a means to get it, don't hesitate, get it quickly off your list.

if you plan to buy a home equipment, electronics or furniture,  and it is super important to you and your comfort, buy it and get it off your list.

The longer you wait at times, the more prices increase, things are not getting cheaper, the longer you wait the more the thought of this need bugs your mind.

You are wrong and completely wrong, have you heard of delayed gratification?

You might have need and want list but both are not same, more you delay the want list then more chances to become less and lesser.

And when you have atleast 10 times more cash than the cost of your wanted product in your bank account then just go for buying it.

This reply is very similar to what I am thinking. There is far too much "want" in
the world today which leads to over consuming which is killing this planet.
Delayed gratification for things we want usually results in us realising we
dont actually need them.

Delayed gratification is beneficial especially if we factor in Bitcoin, for example
if you NEED something today but can delay its purchase until December you
wont have to use as much Bitcoin then even though the items price may have
gone up.

I thought this thread was going to be about something elae particularly after
the OP's opening line "strike things off your need/want list and be content"

I thought it was going to be about not buying that new latest watch, phone,
car, clothes etc. but keep your funds for more essential stuff.

What a disappointing loss for Murray today on Paris,  he had 7 match points and couldn't convert a single one of them to claim the victory, I thought he can win it easily and even the odds favored him against Koepfer with @1.25, it sucks to see such a talented player in this situation, his hip surgery really affected him, playing with metal in your hip is not the same, and being that long away from tennis courts also made it harder to comeback to the same form, it really sucks Sad

Yea I watched the last two sets, I didnt know which way to bet so I didnt on this match.
Murray was broken a few times and was playing defensively for a lot of the match. There
is also some discussion regarding the speed of the courts, they are slow which seems
to result in a lot of longer rally's.

I had 2 bets on today in Paris,
Ivashka v Ramos Vinolas
Norrie v Delbonis

and tomorrow only 1 bet so far, Felix AA to beat Mager.

The race is on for points.

Yes he looks like "the finished article" but I doubt any player would say they are
finished growing, I expect they are constantly growing their game, making tweaks,
improving shots and improving mental ability and positivity.

They have to in order to try and stay ahead of opponents, in the case of Cilic he could
have an eye towards retirement but this win could spur him on to continue and
potentially "grow" his game.
3574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willy Woo: Bitcoin ‘Almost Certainly’ Reaching Six-Figures in H1 2022 on: November 01, 2021, 07:17:45 AM
What strikes me about this is that I am seeing more and more predictions that the bull market will extend into 2022. If this cycle were to follow a pattern like the previous ones it would end in December of this year or January 2022. This has its logic in the pattern following the halvings and assuming that the regularities are going to repeat themselves, but it does not necessarily have to be that way.

If the bull market were to extend well into 2022 it would be good news for us.

Its hard to get away from the historical past of 2017 and the mass exodus at the then
ATH leaving the Bitcoin market at the hands of the bears but we are 4 years on and the
market is different with a different mix of investors and also a different outlook,
There is a lot of talk about this current market trend extending into 2022 so there
is a big chance it will be a self fulling prophesy.

Regardless of the percentages the outlook is predominantly positive.

I'm going Anett Kontaveit over Simona Halep in their encounter in about twelve hours time:

  • Anett Kontaveit @ 1.78 - Taken Amount: 0.05 mBTC - Possible Payout: 0.09 mBTC

This is a very interesting match up, Halep has found some form coming back from
a big injury but Kontaveit is flying at the moment also, I think I will risk a bet on Kontaveit also.

And to Zverev v Tiafoe.....how are you all betting on this?

My thoughts:
Has Tiafoe enough energy to compete 24hrs later against Zverev?

Can Zverev deal with the massive audience support for Tiafoe?

Both players I think will have moments in the match where performance drops,
who will cope the best?

Zverev definitely has more experience to deal with the audience and to me
Tiafoe was well beaten yesterday before something happened between
Sinner and the audience.

I think I will go with Zverev.....

Double win today!

Zverev wins in 2 sets in a close enough game. His service game got him
out of trouble a few times and was essentially the difference.

Again Tiafoe played a really high level game with some seriously trick shots
made but the experience of Zverev was a bit too much.

5-7
4-6

And Kontaveit won with what looks like a hassle free match 2-6, 3-6
Looking at the stats obviously Kontaveit's is way better for example,
win % on 1st serve:

Halep44%
Kontaveit73%

Bitcoin has changed many lives and has changed mine too, after working
for 30 years before I met Bitcoin I had very little to show for it. Bitcoin
indirectly has made me more knowledgable about finances in general,
especially my personal finances and directly has offered me a better way
to save some of my earnings for the future without them being devalued
year after year.

More and more people are waking up to this and finding the best alternative
in Bitcoin and as FIAT financial problems become more evident Bitcoin will
be there to escape into, that is the future.

What just happened?

Jannik Sinner serving for the match in the second set with 2 match points
and it all unravels for him after a very notable incident where someone in
the audience roared something, Sinner had to take a bit longer to serve??

Tiafoe wins 3-6, 7-5, 6-2

Some absolutely super tennis on display with some absolutely magic shots
by both players. Tiafoe is a real showman and he had the audience on his
side, I wonder did Sinner pick up on that?
3580  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 30, 2021, 09:31:08 AM
^^ Alcaraz vs Zverev now on the semi finals as Alcaraz defeated Berrettini in a three set classic match.

I think this will be an over 21.5 match 1.93. Alcaraz should need to elevate his game here if he wanted to upset Zverev or at least force a third set.

Tiafoe vs Sinner, another tricky match, but I will go with Tiafoe at ML 3.75.

Hmmm, I am thinking Sinner TBH. Tiafoe is unbelievably talented and plays a kind of
flamboyant game which for me can lead to an element of unpredictability, I think he was
lucky against Swartzman to take that 2nd set, Swartzman made a serious comeback.

Sinner as we know is very steady especially on these indoor hard courts and plays
a very steady game and does what he does extremely well, I'm putting my Satoshi's
on him.

Raducanu is in action now against Kostyuk who has taken the 1st set and
looking like taking the 2nd, its 1 - 5 there now.

Unfortunately she lost,  predictions will be tight turns out not, Raducannu has lost a lot of games.
My multibet in the ATP Vienna quarter-finals lost because I preferred over in the Ruud vs Sinner match, tight in the first set, not happen in the second set, Ruud lost too easily in the second set.
Zverev vs Sinner might be an ideal final but before they have to beat their opponents, Tiafoe is quite impressive here maybe he will surprise again.

I agree, I like Tiafoe chances against Sinner here, and the good thing is that he is the underdog so it's a very good and attractive bet. So I throw some couple of satoshi's for Tiafoe at ML as well and hopefully pull some upset.

Zverev's experience will be to much for Alcaraz to handle. I wouldn't be surprised if he beat Alcaraz in 2 sets and set a final match with Tiafoe.

Most of us agree with that I think but Zverev has shown on many occasions that
he can switch off a bit at certain times in a match, If Alcaraz can stay with him
and take advantage of a possible down time for Zverev. I'm not betting on this one though.

Just my 2satoshis of player evaluation.
