3581  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2014, 09:32:32 PM
After I make this post, I am going dark on anything bitcoin related. I am not in a panic, just a little annoyed about seeing the price go down constantly. Hopefully by the time I come back, we will be on our way to the moon. C ya later boys.

Sounds like a good plan for me.
I am out of fiat on Stamp (might transfer a little more after the next pay check), and I am going to pull all of my sell orders, except for a couple of high-end ones, and move all my BTCs from the exchange to cold storage.
See you all in a few months (yes, I know optimistic of me) Smiley

The guys in the car demand that police be called in, while the ones outside don't identify themselves and have sharp-loaded guns pointing at the people in the car.

The guys themselves called to the police, but the police basically told them that loaded guns in a control post is ok, and disconnected.

The guys are actually very well versed in law. They were filming the police raiding passing cars from some distance and got spotted....

Towards the end police demands that they stop filing.

And then comes a fat guy, finally showing an ID card (police declined to show their id all the time)... of Right Sector.

So that circus when from road patrol to police to special ops to Right Sector. Hierarchy is easily visible.

To be honest, it seems to be a circus. The driver did have a gun in his car, in the glove compartment, and even though he didn't touch it when reaching for the documents, given the situation in the country, the reaction of the road patrol can be understandable.

Those in military uniforms are the Kiev-delivered ones. The fat one in the beginning didn't like that a citizen was talking to him while having his hand in his pockets.
Note that that another of those "fighters" reaches for his firearm at 0:15. Luckily no shots were fired.

US sends its third military ship into Black Sea:
http://ria.ru/world/20140410/1003322464.html

Russia should really start sending its military ships to Cuba. It's been too long since the last time...

More on that:

“It demonstrates our commitment to our … allies to enhance security, readiness and capabilities,” spokesman Colonel Steven Warren said in a statement.

But sources in the Russian military believe the move is part of a systematic build-up of naval forces.

“What we are seeing is that for the first time since 2008, NATO is creating a naval battle group outside the Russian borders,” a source told Interfax news agency, citing the entry of French reconnaissance ship Dupuy de Lome and destroyer Dupleix – both expected within the next week.

...

“The purpose of this is to provide moral support for the regime in Kiev, but also as a demonstration of power to make Russia come to heel. But the ship will also collect information on Russian military activity in Crimea and on the Ukrainian border,” the source said.

Didn't know Ukraine was in NATO...

3586  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine rejects Russia Gazprom gas price hike on: April 10, 2014, 06:25:22 PM
Slovakia is ready to send reverse deliveries of gas to Ukraine:
http://www.gazeta.ru/business/news/2014/04/10/n_6074989.shtml

So, either Slovakia (EU) is doing it for free (paying for it from our, taxpayers' pockets) or they are selling the gas at market price on credit, would be almost the same as the price that Russia demanded (minus non-payer penalties). In the latter case, EU can forget about ever seeing that money.

In the meantime, Russia apprised its economic help to Ukraine over the last 4 years by the means of reduced gas prices to 35.4 billion dollars. This was one of the point made by president Putin in a letter to leaders of EU countries.

Here is the letter:

US State Department tells Russia that the price they ask from Ukraine is not the market price, that it's higher than what they ask from EU countries. (Well, of course it's higher. Heard about back-payments?!)

A curious bit of news:
http://lenta.ru/news/2014/04/10/photo/
The pictures of Russian troops that NATO said were proving that Russia is amassing its troops at the Ukrainian border are from August 2013, from Russia's military exercises in the Southern region from last summer.

Public Republic of Donetsk officially, at a press conference, proclaims creation of Donetsk People's Army and appoint it's Commander in Chief.

That is interesting. Do they have any APCs or MBTs? What will be the approx. strength of the Donetsk People's Army? Has anyone from the Ukrainian Army defected to this side?

Judging by this footage:
there are some standard army-issued weapons and munition in circulation.

According to some reports, there is a number of military personnel, who defected to the side of the people (the formulation does sound strange).

One of the questions asked was about international observers, and the answer was that there is one observer from UN, who was in Donetsk. She is currently visiting Lugansk as the smallest, yet most volatile region, and will be returning to Donetsk tonight to conduct talks with the representatives of the local republican authorities.

Terrorist operation "peaceful demonstrators":
In German: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaoI3x6GmQY
In Russian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oed2DDOi7A
German mainstream media (as the rest of the West) was portraying Yanukovich as a monster who ordered to slaughter his people, while  the footage above disproves that notion, showing that the police was under strict orders not to react to provocations on to maintain defensive positions.

Here is that German documentary dubbed to English:

If I remember right, russian delegation members said that they will resign in the case of exclusion from decision-making processes... So, they are leaving PACE now?

Yes, eventually:
Quote
Russia’s delegation said before the vote that he could leave the Parliamentary Assembly for the Council of Europe in protest at the decision. However, in a heated media conference following the session, a more relaxed Pushkov stated, “We will take our time. The Russian delegation will meet in a calm atmosphere to make a decision within the next two to three weeks”.

The Russian delegation did not even attend the vote in protest at the motion, which was tabled by Robert Walter, a British member of the assembly.

On a related note. Russia decided not to impose sanctions on Europe, but the reality of the economic state cannot be denied:
http://rt.com/business/putin-ukraine-gas-europe-640/

Quote
Ukraine’s total debt to Russia, including the $2.2 billion bill for gas, now stands at $16.6 billion, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.

Ukraine has not paid for Russian gas since the beginning of 2013, and with all discounts withdrawn it is now charged $485 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas.

This thread became one big circlejerk

we may as well talk in russian now

When stuff happens in a Russian-speaking country, you should expect that the most verbal commentators would come from that region. Most here, though, try to translate the information so that it is available to the public. Or do you expect BBC/CNN/Fox "information" only here?

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) excludes Russia from all international talks and decision-making processes until the end of the year (maybe Russia should ask for it $27 million of contribution to PACE back?):
http://rt.com/news/russia-pace-resolution-boycott-612/
http://www.interfax.ru/world/370805

Quote
When asked if criticism from US and other countries has any validity, Pushkov replied, "[it’s odd that] nations that participated in several NATO aggressions, those who bombed a European capital and occupied the sovereign state of Iraq have the right to tell us what to do."

Pushkov also commented on his Twitter page:

The Ukrainian delegation are firing national hatred declaring to PACE that “The Russian people will feed you and then cut you up.” And then applause in the auditorium! This is a sham!

Actualy, Russia has no blame at all. The west started this, so it's 70% their fault and 30% the fault of Ukrainians for being stupid and not learning on Serbian example.

The facts are straight : 1) Us and Eu ousted the legitimatly elected president of Ukraine and installed a puppet regime in Kiev thus the Ex Soviet block and Russians especially lost the motherland of their culture. 2)They where forced to mobilize forces to save their naval base and Taurica and are desperatly trying to save the east territories beeing labeled as agressors..
3)Th ey are beeing sanctioned.

How exactly is this winning ? This is more like mitigating loses and being sanctioned for it as well.

...this Crimea thing might be a trigger for all other nations to think, hey, we can do that too

and that's exactly what they need to do, stop the oppression Smiley

Technically, it started with NATO's intervention in Kosovo. Back then Russia was telling NATO that they are setting up a dangerous precedent for separatism. Wink

Later this year, there'll be a referendum for independence of Scotland, which UK acknowledges, so there is a good chance will see one more state emerge this year.

He needs a reason... Victims among the protesters, for example.

That's the sad reality of it. Russia has been keeping to the word of law. Someone has to. Unlike US, Russia cannot deploy its troops abroad unless there is a significant threat to the Russian population living abroad.
