361  Economy / Exchanges / Re: DEPOSITING A MILLION $ USD INTO GEMINI TO BUY BITCOIN on: December 07, 2017, 07:46:16 PM
I HAVE AN UNCLE WHO IS THINKIN ABOUT BUYIN A MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF BITCOIN ..

A COUPLE QUESTIONS..

IS GEMINI A SAFE EXCHANGE FOR TRANSACTIONS OF THIS MAGNITUDE?

IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO BUY BITCOIN AT THE CURRENT PRICE?

ANYONE WHO IS WELL VERSED IN CRYPTO, SOME POINTERS ON THIS WOULD REALLY HELP.

THANKS.

You shouldn't have any problems with gemini, or your uncle shouldn't. In terms of the $1m investment the first question would be how important to him is that $1m? If he obtained it by mortgaging his house etc then he would be a fool to do it, maybe in time a rich fool but nonetheless a fool. If it is a sensible percentage of his wealth then it's more reasonable. Now is a strange time to buy with how bullish bitcoin is but I don't see its trend changing soon.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing in on Bitcoin - Daily Income on: December 06, 2017, 07:16:05 PM
Hi,

I'm new to the forum and have been looking over several possible ways to maximise my earnings from Bitcoin on a daily/weekly basis as a secondary income

During the recent growth, my Coinbase account shows me the daily, weekly, monthly growth in £/$ & %

All my investment is currently in Bitcoin, but in theory if each day my investment grows by 5% for example, is it wise to withdraw that percentage to use as an 'income'. My fear of this is that although my original investment will remain untouched I will be selling a portion of the bitcoin and the more times I do this I will be left with 0.00000 BTC

I have thought of so many pros and cons to the above that I thought id ask

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated

It's a wise thing to do if you need the income and are afraid of not receiving anything but at the same time I would strongly advise against it. If you can make 5% a day you can roughly double your investment every fortnight and within a year you will have some crazy return in the millions times your initial investment. I don't think 5% a day is feasible but if you can do it then don't remove your money!
363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Pump or dump after the Bitcoin futures contracts on: December 06, 2017, 07:13:24 PM
The argument that it takes bitcoin more mainstream and adds more investment is very valid but also at the same time I think it will be difficult because it will bring in a lot of sure money. Are people really going to offer futures at 500% for a year or more? What influence will that have on the price either answer? I can't quite wrap my head around it but I'm sure something strange my happen. If I had to say I feel it my slow growth of bitcoin.
364  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what is day trading? on: December 02, 2017, 02:04:23 PM
It's meaning is as simple as it sounds like you've said, but actually doing it for profit? Not so much..
Daytrading simply means making trades(buy and sell transactions) within a single day; hence the term "daytrading". If you're planning on doing daytrading yourself, be ready for losses at the start. Only allocate a small amount of your funds while you're still learning.

For more information: (An Introduction To Day Trading)  https://www.investopedia.com/articles/trading/05/011705.asp
absolutely right, trading daily is one risky choice of earning theres only
lower that a half succeeding this everyday.daytrade partly same as Gambling
when your taking a chance about specific coin to grow price in a margin of
12 hrs or more,,

So better learn first before duelling in this kind of profiteering in which only the
best survives

Why is it that you say that lower than half who are day trading are succeeding? I understand that some most lose for others to profit. I think that long term investing is also gambling in some sense, equally as much as day trading, there is just more risk day trading due to the volatility.
365  Economy / Economics / Re: short term investment or long term invesetment on: December 02, 2017, 02:01:28 PM
When it comes to the investment, many newcomers or people with frequent requirement find it difficult to invest for longer amount of time. Here by short investment i mean any investment which is less than year old. That investment has been cashed out within a year. And by long term investment I mean investment which will be kept for more than year ( ideally 10 years or so).
What do you think which is more beneficial short term investment or long term investment

The distinction you make with newcomers is key, they're often the ones who will invest too much and be then forced to sell because they need it or because it's too much for them. I don't think short term investment is bad within this market because so much can be made but those who invest longer term will certainly profit the most.
366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Too late for Bitcoin? on: December 02, 2017, 01:59:10 PM
We all know that bitcoin is now rising and rising. And before this year ends it is expected to rise doubled the price right now. Is it too late to invest Bitcoin?

Firstly I don't think there is an expectation for the price to double by year end, anyone who's told you that is overly optimistic or just outright clueless. If you believe that though then of course it's not too late to invest, why wouldn't you want to double your money inside of one month??

Top 3 Facebook Group by members as of Dec 1 2017

Electroneum
308,000

9,000

Bitcoin
334,000 (bitcoin AND crypto)
240,000
102,000

Ethereum FB groups
26,000
15,000
7,000

Litecoin
5,000
3,000
2,000

(note there may be some larger ones that the search didn't pick-up)

Also check out google trends youtube searches, and news.

No one is saying that electroneum isn't popular, just that it can't reach the levels of $2 by this year with almost absolute certainty. It's such a huge price, when they get mobile mining running I expect to see the price very high compared to ICO but still that would be somewhere about 20c not $2.
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: walton vs OMG longterm on: November 30, 2017, 11:12:59 PM
I would go for OMG over walton, both are great coins and I would hold both rather than just one but if choosing I think OMG will be a bigger coin and operate in a larger market and thus have greater passive returns.
369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: eth going strong on: November 30, 2017, 11:10:46 PM
As an asset eth definitely looks very cool. And in 2018 I think that the price will exceed the mark of 1800-2000 dollars. But now the price has reached a level of 490 and do not have the strength to get through it. Perhaps I will roll back to reload. That's where I think to buy.

Well it finally broke through 500 usd earlier today before quickly dropping back. I think 500 was a similar barrier for eth to cross as it was 10k for bitcoin. I wouldn't be surprised to see eth shoot up to around 600 usd in the next days.
This time the price has been growing altogether. Ethereum too showing growth and the same has caused it cross $500 and now staying around $490. By the upcoming year we can see a large variation in price with ethereum growing same as that happened by the starting of 2017.

Now ethereum must first recover from the fall to around 400 usd. I don't think we will see price increases anywhere near to those that we saw in the start of 2017, I would be surprised if we see much more than 2x in the first few months of 2018.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin reached $100! on: November 29, 2017, 06:17:21 PM
All right, with everything going on with bitcoin at the moment it seems that nobody is noticing that Litecoin reached $100!!!
This coin is also going really hard at the moment, and I think it will grow a lot more in 2018, what are your thoughts?

It was only a few weeks ago I remember LTC being at just over $50 and saying it certainly won't reach $100 before the end of the year, well I was wrong. It seems right now that the whole market is very bullish. I just hope that it doesn't fall down with a big thud and instead remains that way. I can see LTC passing $300 in 2018.

372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: November 25, 2017, 05:39:03 PM
There are probably biases like many financial sectors but in fact I have come across many women in crypto and think more and more will join, it is not an industry that discriminates in any way. In fact there may be far more women as we do not know who holds bitcoin.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's collapse on: November 24, 2017, 05:07:08 AM
Bitcoin will not collapse,i think this only happening on your mind.
bitcoin will still rise and BCH's will falter down again.bitcoin will always be the alpha of crypto currencies through out times.
Bitcoin will never collapse, trust me Grin

Bitcoin may one day collapse, we cannot say for certain that it will not but it has certainly not collapsed any time soon and almost certainly will not. As you said bitcoin is the alpha and the other coins such as bitcoin cash are just having their day of pretending to be the alpha before bitcoin puts them back in their place.
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It advisable to quit my present job for bitcoin? on: November 24, 2017, 05:05:23 AM
Bitcoin trading these days has become so rucreative that I am tempted to quit my present job which is not giving me enough time to explore more out of bitcoin world...

What's your take on this, should I go ahead and quit?

Thanks

If you are making enough money trading bitcoin on a consistent basis as well as having a reserve to live off if you have some bad months then it's a possible option, it then depends on if you really dislike your current job or enjoy trading. It's a decision you must make for yourself but not one you should rush in to.
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Give me a coin that will easily go 3x on: November 23, 2017, 05:47:10 PM
I suspect KNC will probably go 3x when their exchange launches in february, other than that I'm holding some herocoin that I earned through signature campaign, right now price is pretty low and I would not be surprised to see it shoot up in the early parts of 2018. These are both projects I'm confident will go up but not that will be able to go 10-100x as some others may.

How about Bitcoin Cash. It has risen 3 times in the past month.

I think bitcoin cash has already seen the highest value it will reach for quite some time at 2500usd, even if it reached that figure again it would only be about a 2x gain. I don't think it will anyway because it was a well timed pump that took advantage of FUD around bitcoin.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Dead Without China? on: November 23, 2017, 05:45:17 PM
Don't you think price would have been at 10K by now if China were still catering BTC?

When China announce about their BTC bann on exchanges, the price  had terribly plunged down in a day.  If were to add up the amount of USD from china, its price would have been more than 10K. But we're not dead though.

Yes the price probably would be comfortably above 10k by now but that the price has still increased tremendously without China and that alone shows that we do not need them for BTC to survive.
I doubt it. People outside of China don't give a shit about Chinese legislation. And people inside China will still trade Bitcoin if it's profitable enough, they'll just have to jump through more hoops to get some.

I do not know and it is hard to answer definitively but I would expect that although many still trade and use bitcoin many of the investors who were less tech savvy or understanding of bitcoin will have sold their coins. I'm talking about your guy who doesn't really understand bitcoin but bought some because his friend told him to.

379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do some government ban bitcoin? on: November 21, 2017, 07:05:11 PM
Most governments probably ban bitcoin for one of two reasons, either to stop people from avoiding taxes or because they fear that it may undermine their own currency. I do not really see any reason for them to ban bitcoin aside of these two.
