...

The controller is just a TP-Link TL-WR703N with custom firmware. You could probably also buy one of these from Amazon, and flash it with the lightningasic firmware. (haven't tried it yet, but should be possible)

I will get one ... if we manage to get .. away from those 67$ priced controllers from gridseed ... and can handle the cgminer and cpuminer ... on them .... we will be far better of ... also open-source we can try to evolve it ... and have better monitoring possibilities ...

If any of you live in the EU and got the LA6M package with the free bonus controller I'm interested in buying the surplus controller at a reasonable price. I'm waiting at a better USD/BTC rate to order my pack, but I would like to open the fw and make some changes like per unit clock speed adjustments at 1Mhz steps until my order gets here.

darkfriend77 the 2.0.2 update is not for a plain openwrt install I think, but to update an original wiibox.

I could probably do an image of my controller ...

I will get a LA6M ... lol ... or maybee I should get one ... ^^ payed Jack on 13. Feb. with BTC ... so ... let's see
363  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LightningAsic usb miners based Gridseed GC3355 Tech Support Thread on: February 25, 2014, 10:34:58 AM
here is the actual firmware / software ... it.s using openwrt. (wiibox.net)

of the orginal wiibox controller ....

http://www.wiibox.net/down/v2.0.2.zip

a way to ... flash would be already enough ... I think just with the right software this should be possible.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482352.0

Please post your attempts ...

there is a white ... button on the controller ... that should leave it in a flashable mode.

I am using all units on the controller, when i am getting that error message

Let's assume you could install the controllers driver correctly ...

what would you like to do ... then?
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: February 25, 2014, 09:53:36 AM
Small question, would it be possible to power one USB miner with 12V and 1A for only scrypt mining?

It can't damage anything right when trying?

How much does a UBS take in power?

If it is rated at 12V and 1A then yes you can use it.

Understand this:

Voltage has to be exactly the same. Amp has to be equal or bigger. What I mean:

TO power up a 12V 1Amp device you have to have a 12V Power Supply with at least 1 Amp. You can also have 200Amp it won't matter. Amps is "strenght" but it only pulls what it needs.. Voltage on the other hand can burn the device if you over or under voltage it...

If you have a 0.5Amp power supply to feed an 1Amp device then you will burn the power supply :-)
If you have a 15V power supply to feed a 12V device then you'll burn the device.

Get the picture ?

regards,

P.

Yep, got it. I wasn't sure if scrypt is more or less then 1A ^^ but I think it is around 6 Watt ... so 12V 0.5A should be fine ^^

Greetings all,

my problem is loading the basic controller driver,

I get an error when loading the driver saying "  " the specified inf files could not be copied and installed. Please check your installation "

- the usb bridge is not showing up in my computers Device manager

- I can connect to the controller's ip address with my internet browser

- I see all units plugged in,

- the message in the system log says "usb bus not found , try open the controller power"

I am not sure how to get the driver to load, any suggestions

Hmmm you trying to connect the controller to the PC? for what?

The controller is working on it's own and is using https://openwrt.org/

You might connect to the controller with SSH.

You either use your PC or the Controller to get the Miners work ... but not both.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: February 25, 2014, 08:58:13 AM

ahhhh .... great .... I need ... :-)

maybe also could replace the fan with an illuminated one and the whole mining would look much more futuristic ^^ hehehe

Can you disclose the identity of your partners in China? (As far as I know, any shipping out of china involves a third party,
as gridseed itself does not ship abroad.) Will you be contracting a freight forwarding company or do you have personal contacts?

I'm asking this because we are supposed to pre-pay, so I'd like to have a clear understanding of the risks and potential
problems. Thanks!

I asked a swiss imp/exp company specialised for china for beeing my contact in china. They would like to pickup the miners right at the manufactury,
so they're contacting now Frank from there honk kong agency to get details about the product size, weight and there manufactury location.

I can disclose the identity of my swiss company partner to GB participants before payment as soon as I got the deal set. I probably will ask for a written document/contract from them any way.

On a side way I'm organising a personal contact, which has a logistic partner in china. This would involve a 1% fee for handling logistic in china + shipping cost.
I will try to move to that chain for a next order or a future product.
369  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200 pieces) on: February 25, 2014, 08:08:08 AM
Please remind yourself, that I'm not a reseller of those miners.

I'm organising a GB that will price the units at costs of getting them to you and to me excluding my work.

So cost will be.

- gridseed order (bankwire payment)
- import costs (bankwire payment) for imp/exp company including VAT for switzerland
- shipping to you (variable) or local pickup (free)

Let's see if the overall price is better.

Also we have to consider that accessoires ... are needed.

My name for final 10 units and one controller is not at list why?

I didn't found a reservation PM ... including the following information.

Quote
Reservation, write PM including (amount of USB Miner, amount of controller, contact email, shipping country or local pickup)! I will post a list with the bt-nicknames.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: February 24, 2014, 09:21:45 PM
on the chinese forum there is a monitoring plugin ... for wiibox controller

http://www.cybtc.com/thread-5665-1-1.html

here is a google translated version ...

ADO said that first of all introduce the next function note:
1, applies to wiibox + machine controller +USB controller (integral), currently supports only LTC (or other faux-coin scrypt algorithm) to dig
Wiibox official code 2, fully abandoned, needy brother please, is it possible to use
3, machine status, connection status, process count in real time power monitoring automatic operation
4, guarantee stability at the same time, a sharp rise in mining is

Installation instructions:

1, download the attachment wiibox_ilc-1.0

2, access wiibox IP address your router's admin page students can view DHCP assigned addresses, hostname is a question

3, use SCP or SFTP tool wiibox uploading attachments within the www directory (the default user name and password: root@123456)

4, SSH on your wiibox

5, set the time zone

Code:
 shell#> vim /etc/config/system
 System is subject as follows:
 config system
 option hostname OpenWrt
 option zonename Asia/Shanghai
 option timezone CST-8

6, the ILC installation procedures

Enter the Web Directory
Code:
 shell#> cd /www

Extract the ILC program (official procedures will not be overwritten)
 shell#> unzip wiibox_ilc-1.0.zip

Give the monitor executable permissions
Code:
 shell#> chmod a+x ilc/shell/monitor.sh

To join the ILC monitor to boot automatically run the script, and stop monitoring post for running
Code:
 shell#> vim /etc/rc.local
Quote
/Timer.sh &
this line commented out
 By adding exit 0 before:
Code:
 bash /www/ilc/shell/monitor.sh &
Save and exit

Edit miners information
Code:
 shell#> vim /www/ilc/config/define.php
According to the miners of notes to amend it as your own information, and then save and exit (close Help: Chinese in the SSH may appear as garbled, can refer to the following figure to modify)

Restart wiibox
Code:
 shell#> reboot

7, you're done!

Wiibox ILC monitor will be started automatically after reboot, mine will run automatically, then open page http://address of your wiibox/ILC will be able to view real-time output for each process, can also be viewed in wiibox /tmp/log/wiibox.log to obtain monitoring logs.

Special Note: after using the ILC, an official admin page is still available, but no action at this time will not take effect, nor status feedback in real time, and viewed only by ILC.

for Germany i will try this / in Deutschland werde ich folgendes kaufen
...
...

Ich denke die 5A reichen für das dual mining.

Falls man aber mehr als 5 usb miner hat, ist vermutlich das die Lösung.

I'm thinking, if Gridseed sells these units as well, I wonder what kind of firmware they are using thats different Jack's... I wonder if Gridseeds firmware is more stable and hashes faster?

they use this one ... http://www.wiibox.net/down/v2.0.2.zip ...

Update:

- I will receive a final pricing for import costs on wednesday.
- Receiving, some accessoires tomorrow, so I can test what can be used.
- I hope we can finalize everything till end of this week.
375  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200 pieces) on: February 24, 2014, 06:46:27 PM
Do you already know what payment options you plan to accept? Will you accept FIAT with Paypal,
Sepa or cash upon pick-up, or a mix of these (like x% pre-payment and then
cash upon pick-up, I'd be very happy with that as you probably won't accept escrow, right?)

I can offer BTC or bank wire.

If we got enough people paying in BTC we can process the payment around 5 days faster.
As soon as I got funds set for around 100-150 devices I will send of the bank wire to Gridseed
for the first batch order.

@matt4054 What PSU are you using picture ... ?

I have tried a third one now, The 12V rail on a Corsair TX 750W so it should really not be an issue.

Device is only drawing about 10W from the PSU anyway.

LEDs are blinking when starting the mining software, but the software is sending data to the device w/o receiving anything, apparently.

Did you have any success with your unit? What software are you using to mine?

Edit: I'm going to try again this time in a Linux VM and compiling forked cpuminer from source

Maybe only this version is able to use the 5-chip silver, unfortunately I still can't access that page after hours. Anyone succeeded?

Edit: No, I could eventually get the file and even the version provided by LightningAsic doesn't work with the 5-chip silver (same results)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482352.msg5305445#msg5305445

maybee you will find something there ...
378  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200 pieces) on: February 24, 2014, 01:11:09 PM
Reserved 20 units

Code:
Reservation & Order:

The smallest reservation & order quantity is 5 pieces.

Reservation, write PM including (amount of USB Miner, amount of controller, contact email, shipping country or local pickup)! I will post a list with the bt-nicknames.
379  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][EU + CH] Gridseed 5-Chip USB Miner (200 pieces) on: February 24, 2014, 01:09:54 PM
I'd be interested in 10-20 depending on the price.

Can you do VAT free delivery within the EU?

Any update on the VAT question?

I will pay VAT when importing those units 8% ... for switzerland.

If I send out from germany I will have to pay what for them.

This would be reflected in the additional costs.
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: February 24, 2014, 09:17:57 AM
...

As far as wiring goes, the tails from each power lead need to be terminated on the power supply itself, as shown in the pictures you have published. If you use an octopus type of splitter you would be putting far too much current through a single small cable. How thick is the lead to your kettle? That is carrying about 12 amps. A cable carrying 25 amps needs to be quite beefy. One miner uses about 5 amps so wire each tail direct to the power unit.

Thx for the explanation ... So I can just cut the "octopus type of splitter cable" and wire each to the power supply ... that should work?
