361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Updated rig to 1.3.1 and now Chromium doesn't work on: April 24, 2018, 09:20:15 PM
Hello.  I just updated my rig to 1.3.1 and clicking on the menu shortcuts for ethOS Stats Panel and ethOS Knowledgebase bring up a blank Chromium screen.  After a little bit, an alert pops up that says the page is unresponsive, but that is blacked out as well.  I see no other ways to open Chromium and this bug was not there before the update.  Next steps?

If that was the only rig reporting and it was offline for a little bit, the system probably just changed your panel "name". Confirm the address by typing helpme into your rig.

Thanks for your quick response.  The rig boots and hashes fine. The name is the same.  The problem is that the Chromium browser window is all black and then a Page Unresponsive alert window pops up.  I've rebooted the machine numerous times.  Same problem.  "helpme" works fine as well as the "browser" command, however the Chromium window is blank and unresponsive. I've read this thread and searched the internet and haven't seen any answers.

Test it in another browser? Or email them; the OS isn't technically supported but I've found the panel tends to be (I usually get a response within a day or so).

You can also try testing it in the iOS/android app, or post it here and one of us can try it...

I started mining magi to learn about cryptocurrencies, and it was nice to find what was supposed to be a cpu only mineable currency.

I never expected to make money at this, but now it's ridiculous with all the orphan blocks.

I don't exactly understand what is going on, but what I have learned from this experience is that it looks like the cryptocurrency world is a bit of a bad joke.

And I don't see where anyone in charge is commenting or actually reacting to this.

I think it's time to stop making cpu heat for absolutely no apparent reason.

The cryptocurrency world is rather vast. XMG is, no matter what you think of it, not representative of the whole, it's a small project with a specific aim. Not saying you should keep going or not, but to assume the entire landscape looks like this is like being cheated on by a woman and assuming all women are untrustworthy...

Is there a miner in ethos 1.3.1 to mine CN Heavy?

If there isn't, please include it in the next update.

I've tried compile miners on my own and even try sgminer-gm 5.5.6 with no luck.

If any of the miners in their list have updates that support it, try sudo update-miners (or do your specific one). You can also install miners that aren't on their list. It CAN break ethos, fair warning, but it likely won't (still, I tend to do a full drive image backup before I install anything on active rigs).
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dragonmint X1 and now X2 miners? on: April 19, 2018, 06:24:07 PM
are they legit? i havent received any email  Undecided

Yup. I got paid back within about 5 minutes of replying to the email.

If you didn't get an email, write support through the site, they'll get back to you.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: April 18, 2018, 10:05:43 PM
I just built some rigs and this crap gets announced Cheesy arrgghh...rumors were indeed true. Hope eth forks ....

The X3 doesn't mine eth. You're thinking of the E3.

Hello,

for dragonmint x1 and x2 some customer have received  email  for cancelled order and have choice to refund the money or can be buy other product of halons mining. if its for all customer Halong have make good option and the company are honest .sorry for my english i write in french .

Yeah, I got this email as well. A little bummed, but honestly since everyone is forking away from the algo I'd rather have the BTC back at this point, so it all worked out...

I ordered an X1, with not only the suspicion but the full assumption that Monero would fork. I was hoping that either ETN or TRTL wouldn't but I think both have at this point. *shrug* I'll figure out what to mine when it arrives I guess.

you are screwed anyway...coins that will not forked will get unprofitable by the asics switching from monero

well, yeah, that's why I got the cheapest one. I was basically buying an expensive space heater that would hopefully let me get a bunch of some random smaller coins...

I did the same. Ordered 3 space heaters. I hope they can make my house warm!!!!! Cheesy

Yup, my plan as well. I have an S5 in the living room that I turn on when it's too cold for the rigs to keep the house warm enough, figured this could go in the bedroom...

Actually  I will keep my 2 X1 in my growing room. I need my plants to stay hot!

Hahaha, I was LITERALLY just thinking about that earlier today. The lamps keep my plants pretty warm, though; however, I am now thinking of an outdoor greenhouse for other plants and just ducting the hot air into it...

I could use it also to heat my Iguana room. Not sure if she would enjoy the noise tho... hmmmmm....gonna ask her.

At that wattage they may not be that loud and/or workable with aftermarket fans, like the S5 is. Or you can use insulated ducts, that kills a ton of noise, and just keep the thing in a box or another room.
369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethos + electroneum or nicehash? on: April 16, 2018, 08:51:10 PM
Here's a package I created to keep your rig mining the most profitable algorithm. The defaults uses NiceHash, I hope it helps. If you find any issues or want to request features please submit an issue on GitHub.

This looks interesting, and nice work! But an almost 5%/day donation rate? Are you suggesting it will provide at least that much increase in income?
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethOS - Ethereum Mining Platform on: April 16, 2018, 08:45:37 PM
after using pwr parameter rig was lowered hashes and crashed. i did not find stable config parameters yet. i will re-update my vbioses with new one.

Yeah, I abandoned the globalpowertune setting for now. Still getting 4h/s increase per card and a decent voltage drop since the update just using my previous settings. Will play with them when I have time, but I'm happy enough with my rig at the moment. Smiley
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: April 16, 2018, 08:43:50 PM
Got email from PandaMiner claiming they outperform E3  Smiley
----------------------
Dear miners:

Now PandaMiner have made the price adjustment, the cost exceed the ASIC E3. According to the comparison:

One more point, we support delivery in 7 working days, while E3 requires 3 month. Miners can gain a lot of mining profits during 3 month.

Price: $2508 per unit(PSU and shipping cost included)
Model:PandaMiner B3 Pro
GPU: AMD RX 470*8 cards
Delivery: 7 working days
Limited amount: 1000 units

Do not buy panda miners. They didn't tell you about the HIGHER power consumption.

That panda miner consumes about 1300W while bitmain's E3 consumes only 800W (and maybe even less when it is actually shipped). There is no logic at all in buying more expensive hardware that earns less money.

I don't think it is wise to buy either of the miners. Either they will be forked out or the companies will delivery defective & used equipment as they frequently do.

Either way, the power consumption on 470s vs even just spending that money on 580 cards, a mobo/cpu/psu/ram, and risers? I'd go the latter every time, my 580s get the same hashrate as the E3 is advertised to and clocks in at about 720W +/- 10%...
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethOS - Ethereum Mining Platform on: April 15, 2018, 04:17:54 AM
after setting  vol RIGID 900 900 xxx parameter pwr parameter did not working. my cards powertune is 5 now. i use pwr RIDIG 2 2 2 with vol parameter. i have no idea about power consumption now.
why pwr params disabled with using vol ?

If you updated to 1.3.1, it should directly report wattage now.

yea i upgrade ethos to 1.3.1 but on ati gpus watt consumption not shown on panel. with nvidia gpus i can see watt consumption per gpu. if i am not wrong, pwr parameter works with 1-7 values on amd gpus as powertune settings.

Make sure your upgrade worked and your panel shows 1.3.1 for the rig; mine reports AMD wattage for 6x580...

where you ordered ? for how much ? in the website it show out of stock

I'm fairly sure they're just sold out at the moment. I think they may have bit off more than they can chew with their first batch of SHA miners, they're probably behind on manufacturing. Or they realized how unprofitable it would be after monero forked and decided not to produce a second batch...

Those days are almost gone. ASICs are destroying all profitable coins step by step, from the other hand GPUs are getting better.

I think it is necessary to use external memory to make FPGA-miner profitable. FPGA without external memory is severely limited. It is also good to implement the PCI Express interface. As a result, the PCB will not be very simple.

The problem will not be in the complexity of the PCB, but in the price of the FPGA. You need a huge discount for a massive purchase in order to get a payback.

As a FPGA developer, I'm considering only high-performance solutions. They are compact, profitable and scalable. Perhaps I underestimate the potential of inexpensive modules, because I usually do a fully unrolled pipelines. But algorithms like nist5 require a folded implementation when small chips are used. So low-cost cards may be profitable.

But IMO the most interesting is solution based on top FPGA like Virtex Ultrascale+.

I will support a new thread dedicated to the FPGA.

I'd be down for that as I just picked up a Cyclone 10 and, once I finish taxes, I plan to start playing with it using my pi 3b+ as a controller...
