362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Payments Coin Vote on: January 07, 2014, 06:05:09 PM
Already the name "LottoCoin" keeps me away from trading. I wan't to make business and profit, not playing lotto.

So i'll better invest in EarthCoin for long term and hope that it will get a worldwide method of payments.

But it's OK when kids like to play with things that are nothing worth in the real world. For that we have lotto, doge, cats, mouse, pigs, chickens, manga ... ... ...

exactly how I see it...  what is so striking is that none of those guys here see this problem... when you mention it, they cry: but gambling blablabla...

as if that is something normal shops or serious businesses care for or want to be associated with...

imagine some electronics store having a "lottocoin accepted" sticker... anyone who is not totally into crypto will see the name and decide that they'd rather buy their ipod headphones somewhere else...

it just sounds sleazy

then imagine a fruits and vegetables store with "earthcoin accepted"... it just fits.
it has this green, responsible tinge to it. people respond well to the name.

the only ones that respond well to lotto are people who can't do math. hint: you always lose in the long run

Half of Bitcoins transactions are involved in online gambling.

Pokerstars has more then 50M Customers world wide.

One of the largest industrys in the world no matter where you are from or what your background is. Once in your life you make a gamble.

Your points are invalid.

Also, Earthcoin great for buying fruits?  Let me: Lmao.

Cheers!

look dude, no one is saying that there is not money involved in gambling.

but if you had read my posts here, you'd see that I am basically saying what you just said in your post:

gambling can be done in any currency. you quote bitcoin is so much used in gambling. great.

but how does that help or speak for lottocoin?

the point here is: a clean, serious coin can be used to buy drugs, buy a hooker or waste on gambling.

but a sleazy coin that has already such a sleazy business in its name has a hard time on other markets.

imagine a hookercoin. or an illegaldrugscoin or a gamblingcoin

people do not necessarly want to be associated with such a market or such a use. even if the very same people who object to such a coin go buy a hooker 20 minutes later with bitcoin.

money is best when it is as unobjectionable as possible. even when used for the worst things humans can come up with.

a currency that is connected, even if only in name, with gambling has a self limiting factor built into itself

I am not trolling this thread to scoff at some competition. I am simply making a point that people outside of this community will easily understand.

people not totally involved with lottocoin will instinctively object to its name. lotto is the business of desperate lower class people, the stupid or the addicted. that is the PUBLIC perception. NOT my personal opinion.

that is all I wanted to say

I support both, I think they are both great coins with good potential and a solid community backing but seriously you sound like a hippie and you completely negate any possible credit you might have by stating your own personal perception as public perception ;P "Lotto is the business of desperate lower class people"... you've obviously never brushed shoulders with high class people...

No need to bash a coin just because YOU don't like it, with the numbers both LOT and EAC have chances are they will both be added to coin payments.

I fail to see anything a hippie might say in my post.
I did not even mention EAC. I mentioned bitcoin.

that money is best when it is as unobjectionable as possible is not a hippie idea... hippies don't care about money Wink

it's a simple fact of life.

I know it is hard to see that I'm right when you're paid to post here, but think about it again, in a few days, when you've sold the last lottocoin. it might seem a lot more intuitive
You want to buy veggies with earth coin... lotteries/gambling is sleezy/objectionable... lotto is the business of desperate lower class people, the stupid or the addicted... these are all very hippie-ish statements IMO, its the attitude of "because I don't like it its wrong", again no need to bash a coin just because YOU don't like it.

I cast my vote long before the payments, and I doubt $0.20 has a major bearing on the voting, besides the fact lotto was at #1 before the pay-outs too. If you don't like a coin just don't use it its not like anyone's forcing you to no need to come in with the anti-'whatever' propaganda let people make up their own minds.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 07, 2014, 05:43:15 PM
What are the chances that Cryptsy add a coin that is about to get deleted from an exchange already?

Until thic coin have NO shops games etc. no chance.
Totally agree, they need to give this coin a purpose other then just trading if they want it to go anywhere.
364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN – NEW COIN 2014] [NOBLE] = NobleCoin = Ticker: [NOBL] on: January 07, 2014, 01:24:55 PM
Hey Grrizz, thanks for the input and I know exactly what you're saying. To be honest I am not American myself and we do not want to appear to be a purely American-focused movement. When we got interested in cryptocoins we were very into the idea of them 'liberating/freeing' their users from certain 'problems' of the current economic system. I do agree it is quite American, and the words were inspired by 'Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness' (which in this situation doesn't help because it makes it even more American). The eagle was obviously chosen because it symbolises freedom, spirit and the pursuit of excellence (in this case some form of freedom from the current monetary system), but this is primarily due to American influences I know.

Personally I did see critique coming of the use of Happiness as we did not want it to seem too cheesy. I did spend more time than perhaps is healthy pondering what could better express what cryptocoins could potentially bring to our lives. I do love mx19's Security, and wish I had thought of that earlier as it fits in well with what cryptocurrencies are all about. In the coming days (with further input from anyone interested) we will probably change the wordings up at least slightly, as I doubt it will damage any initial branding at all.

Cheers!
I can see where you are coming from and it does make sense. I too like mx19's suggestion of security, I don't think altering branding a little in the early days will impact the currency as long as you keep the core there to keep it recognisable, in my opinion new coins are allowed to evolve a bit as feedback comes in, this is particularly true of coins based around more then a meme Wink This is also the main reason I was drawn to your coin, the fact you have a proposal and direction rather then just a short cut and paste spec list and a broken wallet makes it seem to be something with a bit of substance behind it in stead of something trying to cash in on an emotional response (memes) while not bringing anything new to the table and having no further foresight then hitting Cryptsy for a quick dump - hopefully time will prove me right Smiley

Wish I had of spotted this earlier but better late then never ay Wink
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Solcoin [SOL] on: January 07, 2014, 12:47:13 PM
What are the draw cards of this coin? Why should we be interested? Games, shops, multipool resistance, etc.?

There is very little info on where you want to take this coin and that generally leads to pump and dump, I ask not only for myself but having this information would help bring support for your coin... or detract from it if there is no plan...
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN – NEW COIN 2014][NOBLE] = NobleCoin = Ticker: [NOBL] on: January 07, 2014, 12:33:22 PM
Interesting coin, I'll throw some hash's at it and see how it goes.

I will say I'm not a big fan of the logo, the eagle is OK but very American, it might be more appealing to Americans but as someone not from there it seems a bit 'federal' for lack of a better way to describe it, that may have been what you were going for but it just doesn't appeal to me personally. The other thing is the slogan, again its OK but the 'happiness' part seems like you were struggling a bit to think of a third word.

My advice would be to keep the eagle but stylise it to look less like a generic American logo and more like something in its own right and change the third word in the slogan to something that fits more inline with the other two... I would suggest something but I cant really come up with something suitable at the moment either lol.

My 2c Wink

I do like the info you have put up though, it shows some thought has gone into the coin and this is what made me decide to try mining it, forethought seems to be something that's missing from a lot of coins these days.

Good luck!

Can someone explain to me why it is lotto that's being mined? On Coinwarz for example we are only around #25 most profitable coin, so why would any pools be targeting us?
The per-block retargeting makes LOT hard to judge by just looking at coinwarz, if you work the averages it actually falls in the top 10, possibly top 5.

Change in diff plays a big part in the coinwarz rankings and the % change listed for both diff and value are important to look at when picking your coin Wink

@Devs - Has anyone approached coinex.pw about adding LOT? Its probably my favourite exchange atm but its missing my favourite coin Wink

register more accounts.....then use them in posting on here so you can use them in voting at.................https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397540.0

we need to win.......it will give as a good push.....lotto must pay a visit and permanently be amongst the stars

Seems Lottocoin people are trying to scam their way to winning a poll.  Roll Eyes
hmmm seems a supporter of EAC is trying to flame LOTTOCOIN for the words of 1 user

edit: your a real winner Wink
The good news is at this point no-ones had time to activate new accounts yet and still Lotto has a reasonable lead Wink

I firmly believe Lotto can get there without scamming, even if it doesn't stay #1 it'll be right up there with it. I would like to see EAC in there too but Lotto's my favourite atm.

Hey guys, love this coin really hope it takes off as it seems to have a lot of potential!

One more way we can make some noise is by voting here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397540.0 to get lotto added to coin payments they have a decent selection of outlets that if added would allow people to shop with lotto Cheesy

I have 3, they all like their memory at 1500MHz any more or less hurts my hash but they all have different favourite core clocks, 1040, 1050, 1080 and they were different again on a different system. Play with your core clock from 1020-1100MHz in steps of 10MHz then fine tune from there. I also find when using windows turning off 'aero' (or whatever its called these days - fancy GUI bits) can help a little and setting the cgminer process priority to high helps prevent hash dips when fiddling with other things.

Here are my cgminer config settings, clocks handled by MSI afterburner;
"intensity" : "13,13,13",
"vectors" : "1,1,1",
"worksize" : "256,256,256",
"kernel" : "scrypt,scrypt,scrypt",

"scan-time" : "60",
"scrypt" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",

I use this as a batch file for convenient booting, 60 sec start delay with press any key to skip, high priority process and maximised window;

378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 02, 2014, 06:12:31 AM

Strange that CoinEX is taking so long to update the MOON/BTC market. Hope they fix it very soon.
Unable to make withdrawals from coinex either

use the MOON/LTC market - it's still working I lied, it's not working...

I think they are having problems overall though, the Chat Box hasn't updated for 4 hours
Yea doesn't look like there have been any trades on any coins for the last few hours on top of the buy/sell orders missing from the MOON market and chat box frozen, I guess the backends down... at least my coins still show in the 'details' sections. Smiley
379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Exchange is recomended? on: January 01, 2014, 06:47:30 AM
To add to the list I have been using coinex the last couple of days and have had a very pleasant time on there. It has the usability (GUI) of cryptsy with a decent selection of altcoins and decent volumes, its also very snappy in my experience and for better or worse it has a trollbox - can be entertaining as long as you take any advice from there with a fist full of salt. I have seen some talk of slow withdrawals even though I haven't had that problem myself (I did see a comment in the trollbox yesterday saying it was fix now though) and it is stated to be in beta so a WIP warning I guess and I cant comment on their support yet as I haven't needed to use it. All in all if they add a few more coins and pull in a bit more trade volume this has potential to be a cryptsy killer IMO... fingers crossed from me! Wink

Here is the new coin of today. The difficulty currently is 0.1. This coin should end up a bigger success than mooncoin.
