Brilliant Idea, a decentralised Internet.  Good luck to the team.
Is this the same as Storj ?

No, SAFE doesn't use a blockchain. It's based on Kademlia using distributed hash tables (DHT).

The latest updates from GitHub show we can do 500 PUTS per account in coming tests. With a maximum of 1mb. per put you
will be able to store about 500MB on your test-account. That's a 5 time increase from the 100 put limit we had  Tongue
They updated the Vault as well, so now your Vault can store up to 2 gig in encrypted chunks from the network.

All great news! Coming closer and closer to the Alpha release.

"This will be a long and detailed discussion and should result in a complete architecture of the final product." (MaidSafe Dev Update 12th July 2016)

Architecture would be a big thumbs up from me. Might take a few years to code it up??

A few years? Nope, it took them 10 years to get funding, get patents on the tech (so others can not withhold them from using their own tech) and figuring out a way to do all this stuff. Now it's up and running
as tests and the software is doing great. It connects me to about 40 other users over Kademlia-like system in just seconds. When they talk about changing some architecture they mean change some roles for the
persona's like the data_manager or the client_manager etc. They want to make the logic of the system as simple as possible. They do a lot of code refactors as well. They already changed some architecture over the last few months as some persona's were removed. But the network including vaults and clients already works.

Test 26, year 2018
MAID price still the same.
KEK

20 years of development that's quite an accomplishment even the mission to the Moon was a mere 8 or 9 years in the making

10 years of testing, yet still in (pre) alpha.

Fake buy wall is gone.  MAID cannot hold keeps head above the 10k satoshi benchmark for long.

Time for MAID to return to the 5k shitcoin price it came from, before all this recent "MVP" hype.

Hey, look who's back. Was that you who claimed about a month ago that the "scam moved into it's exit phase" ??

Ohw, that was you! Here's the latest graph from coinmarketcap:

MAID is quite stable over the last 3 months between 30 and 40 million marketcap. And look at this one, instead of an exit phase they're hiring even more programmers:

So their idea (10 years in the making) works as we've all seen 5 testnets with people running vaults from their homes uploading content and more. They're hiring new devs to get even more stuff out and we're close to Alpha and Beta where we'll see messenger apps and Safecoin build in to the system. Exciting times.

Enjoy@!@ I'll update when TEST 6 is out.

TL;DR TEST 6 coming this week, lot of work done on the new Launcher. Not that more tests needed before we see Alpha releases. These are version of the software
with installers and the last ones released before we see the MVP in which they really launch the SAFE Network.

....test n+1

gotta say this is epic

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

We might see TEST 6 this week, which is indeed test n+1. Most of these tests are focused on getting the lower layers like routing and crust (IP-level) right. As they run a number of nodes
on their droplet servers, they see exactly where the network does right and wrong. They can't de-crypt people's data, but as their nodes are up to 20% or even 50% of the nodes in the network
they do see where the pain is. I'm running a vault right now and I'm connected to 42 other nodes.

I can see chunks come in and out etc. The CPU-usage is below 1% which is very very low. The data for
routing and keeping the network alive is about 5KB/sec. up- and down which is very low as well. This shows that the idea of SAFE is very feasible. Uploading some data works as well, same for creating an account and browsing some websites on the network. We're still limited to about 30 tot 40 MB's of data per user, but at this level the network is doing great. They thought this test was just several days as they removed some safety code to try to kill the network. But so far it's still up and running. That's a very good sign. Hopefully we'll see the next version of the launcher as well this week. Here's the mock up they provided a week ago:

Hope we'll see TEST 5 with the dev-update on Tuesday. This one is meant to keep your data safe while TEST 4 was
focused on keeping connections alive and lower CPU usage with MIO.
