361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Pre-ANN] InstaPay -First EVER Fixed Increasing Value Coin ### Adaptive N-factor on: March 07, 2014, 01:47:38 PM
wow guys wasn't really expecting such negativity, probably because there are hundreds of coins born every week now and most of them if not all of them fail because of poor development/support!
we have spent too much time and resources on this coin already for it to let it just go with the flow of others.
All of you on this forum have been asking for something new and not just another $hitcoin, and I truly believe this is it!

If you don't want to join IPO,that's cool, Check back on 7th march on the launch and Mine for a bit and I can promise you it will pay off!

The problem is not the existence of a multitude of coins, but rather the nonexistence of use of that multitude. I have seen very few coins that have been backed by real services and goods before and during the first few days of its launch. (Gambling sites are not merchants. Betting coins that you can't spend to win coins that you can't spend is no different from playing Pokemon cards with ante.)
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 07, 2014, 01:30:49 PM
I mean by making the length of the 0 reward so long. I believe it's a few hours.
So its only going to be possible to mine in a pool. Never mind. I guess I will have to rely on some stable pools being around

That sounds more fair to me than a single person with a massive rig mining 1 BTC worth of coins during the first hour. May I ask -- are you against sharing?

Quote

it is a difficult concept but until a cryptocurrency finds a way to prevent pump and dump, no coin will truly stick around

Pump and dump happens because the products at hand have no real value, and everything just rides on pure speculation. Fiat runs solely because people accept them for goods and services....

Really? I've been mining Nobl for 2 months and buying amazon giftcards directly and buying gpu's with them and getting a 12% discount to boot. No BTC conversion fee's and no fee's for fiat change as well. I'm doing newegg cards there now as the price changed in neweggs favor for what I want.

exactly my point... you were able to exchange your NOBL for consumable goods, because someone was ready to take them from you in exchange for a product/service they owned... anything from paying a restaurant bill, offer coupons, a truckload of toilet paper, whatever. That is the only way a coin survives.... and NOBL will stand the test of time as long as more people offer to take the NOBL from you in exchange for something they can give you for consumption....

I was talking about the hundreds of other altcoins that cannot be used to purchase anything in the real world other than the BTC of the greater fool. That is when the coin dies. GPUC cannot die as long as there exists an online store accepting GPUC, and positive testimonials of receiving the products of course Smiley

I guess I mis-understood you. If you'll note Nobl Market place in my screenies is 100% is a pretty nice customer relation rating to boot.

I'm still waiting on the DEV here to explain how he's going to compensate me for the lost time on his failed launches. I could have more In that order If I hadn't wasted my systems on his failure.

You participated in the failed launch because you expected to make some form of financial profit from doing so. You speculated that you would make money, and your speculation was wrong. That is part of the cryptocurrency trading process. Nobody forced you to participate. If you had made a large profit from the launch, would you have given back some of it to the development team free of charge? You would prolly argue that you don't owe them anything. Based on the same line of thinking that leads to that argument, they don't owe you anything either.
364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RELAUNCH][APP] Appcoin | Sunday, March 9th, 18:00 GMT! on: March 07, 2014, 11:59:59 AM
I still don't get what this coin is trying to do. Unless Apple, Google or Microsoft officially endorses this coin, then it's just going to be another coin to be dumped on exchanges. At best, it can only be a "black market"-type of funding for apps, and you can be sure that no legitimate app company will want to touch it. The argument that the developers and the speculators are promoting is that the coin can be forcibly implemented into the app market with enough community support. That argument can easily be debunked though. Consider the case of Bitcoin. It has more "support" than all of the currently existing altcoins combined, yet it still has not established itself as an officially endorsed currency for the app market. Apple's official stance on it is negative, and it chose to start creating its own digital currency instead. Google chose to back a distributed currency rather than a decentralized currency. Microsoft is gradually coming to accept Bitcoin as a relevant currency, but it will prolly take a while before they officially endorse it. The only way for Appcoin to become the digital currency for apps is if the development team is an entity with a significant amount of influence on those corporations or on the markets, which I doubt it is.

Having said that, I fully support speculators to keep on speculating. Speculation is what makes other relevant and noteworthy coins much stronger in the long run.

Thanks for your post!
Feedback like this is always valuable for our developers and we are glad that you're interested about the concept of Appcoin.
Bitcoin has more like introduced huge amount of people to the digital currency scene. With the introduction, we believe that there's recently appeared high demand and that the time is now favourable for a cryptocurrency specialized in digital product purchases.
The biggest application platform owners, Google, Apple & Microsoft aren't the only potential merchants. We are also developing our own application related service that would benefit of the usage of a cryptocurrency like Appcoin.

You should have started with that then. That's what we call a hook. Now I have some interest in seeing what future this coin is heading towards. I still can't share any hashes of my own since I'm already spreading them out too thinly as it is, but attention is the best investment that any new coin can get.

What for the scrypt a sics to come out. They will bump the difficulty up a ton but will make a lot as well
Isn't it a myth? I mean scrypt ASICs.

It's not. Prototypes are already being tested by their creators.
366  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hey guys im trying to buy some mintcoin, could you tell me what im looking at??? on: March 06, 2014, 01:22:51 PM
does that seem like a fair rate? the graphs im watching have 1 mint coin at about .00017 usd. im really confused by all the numbers, terms, graphs etc. dont want to trouble you with to many questions  because i could go on for hours, is there a guide to all this?  thanks so much for your help

There really is no such thing as a "fair rate" when it comes to cryptocurrency trading. People buy and sell at prices based on a lot of different factors. For example, I bought thousands of Mintcoins when people were selling them at 40 satoshis each. Now that the market is valuing them at around 25 satoshis apiece, I could very well be inclined to say that I bought too early. However, I am not. I bought the coins because I believed that the price would increase sometime in the future. I could have waited to buy until the price was lower, but no one can accurately predict market trends. It was also to my advantage that I bought early because time is a very crucial factor when it comes to minting, and I bought those coins with the sole intent of eventually minting them. So did I buy at a fair rate? From my perspective, yes. If I could have bought at a lower price, then I would have, but the question of fairness would once again come about, only this time on the side of the seller. I guess one could say that "fair" is a measure of how much you value a coin relative to how much the market values it. Those prices you see there are measurements of how the market currently values Mintcoins; the question of fairness essentially translates to "Given all that you know about Mintcoins, are you willing to spend that much to buy them or not?"

EDIT:

It seems like you had a question within your question.

That chart is just a representation of the trades that occurred within the days listed on it. The high spikes show trades where buyers bought Mintcoins at a price much higher than the average market price, while the dips show trades where buyers bought at a lower price. 367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEIT] ZEITCOIN -- 5 EXCHANGES POW/POS 11 Ghs Nethash on: March 06, 2014, 08:10:36 AM
when will pos mining start? And is it 25% per month?

25% annually

PoS blocks are generated by your wallet after your coins accumulate over 20 days

so if I have 5000000 coins, if i run it like 3-4 hours everyday, do I still get 25% (1250000 coins) annually?

You can mint only once your coin inputs are of age. Zeitcoins require a minimum of 20 days before you can start minting them. Once you mint a confirmed block, then your coins would need to be of age again, i.e., you can't mint with those coins again for another 20 days, let alone 3-4 hours everyday.
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] - RecycleCoin on: March 06, 2014, 04:13:25 AM
For this coin to succeed, it would need an official exchange where every relevant cryptocurrency is paired with it and only it. Also, this exchange must be centralized and heavily regulated. If that is accomplished, then I can see the coin flourishing as a coin with an actual useful purpose.

EDIT: Come to think of it, don't legitimate exchanges have their own versions of "Recyclecoin" already?
369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI on: March 06, 2014, 04:01:14 AM
This looks good.. very clean and recognisable, especially in thumbnail size.
The only addition I can think of is a hint of the Anime-style drawings, but I am not sure how that can be achieved without cluttering the design.

The Reverse of coin  Grin

I don't think branding Animecoin as a "bakunyuu coin" is the proper way to promote the coin. Animecoin was designed to embody the spirit of anime and the anime community. As such, we should focus on the more respectable aspects of anime and not... that.

371  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help me on: March 05, 2014, 01:50:06 PM
I don't believe there is a coin mining app for the iPad, not that it matters if one was created, considering Apple's official stance on cryptocurrency. And as the posters before me have mentioned, you'll most likely destroy your iPad before you can even submit anything higher than a Difficulty 4 share.
372  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Block solving times 2-3 hours?? Most the time it's less than a hour. on: March 05, 2014, 01:09:05 PM
Why can't I work on the next block until I solve the current block?

Because there is no block to work on. The next block is put on top of the previous block, which means that the previous block has to exist. Consider why the collection of all the blocks is called a blockchain. The blocks are chained to each other, with new blocks continually being added to one end of the chain. Working on a block not connected to the chain simply doesn't make sense.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI on: March 05, 2014, 09:05:05 AM
Someone made a comment on Reddit about how the coin would be popular as a tipping mechanism in the Anime subreddit. I do believe that to be the case as well. We need a functional Reddit tipbot as soon as possible and promote the coin to those who would surely appreciate it. If I had access to a server and was well versed in online languages, I would edit the open source code of the Altcoin tipbot myself. Alas, I do not and am not. I am, however, willing to donate a few coins to a community bounty designated to its creation and maintenance.

More importantly though, we need someone to hold the helm while Ani-chan is fleeting in her online presence. Anyone reliable and trustworthy want to nominate himself/herself?

Does anybody know when start PoS minting? 20 days after coins are in your wallet?

Yes. Just don't send any transactions that might cause your 20-day old input to be transferred to a change address, thereby resetting its age.

Another IPO coin? Do people still fall for this?
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ColoradoGold (coGold) get ready for the Modern Gold Rush! on: March 05, 2014, 03:38:44 AM
Is Colorado Gold designed to function like a real-world currency in the same way that Mazacoin is aiming to? That's what I'm getting from the intro. It seems like an ambitious project that may succeed or fail depending solely on the development team's resources, influence and capabilities.

Don't make threads or posts solely for putting up referral links, that's what signatures are for.

That's specifically mentioned on the only pinned thread on this subforum. Thread reported.

Does coin age reset when you start minting or after you successfully mint a block?
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI on: March 04, 2014, 09:58:03 AM
P.S. I'm also wondering if the Reddit Tip Bot is in the works?

I don't think so. I haven't heard from Ani for a while, and the community is still lacking a lot of the necessities.
