Help community !

My coins has been stolen by a hacker. I have lost 28`184 Cloak coins. It was everything I had. Everything I have worked for during my time in Crypto. I don`t like the idea of asking for donations but I am lost what to do. Any help, financially or otherwise, would be appreciated greatly !

U serious? Or are you raising money for the thcmakaveli-foundation?

Yes I am serious. I am taking care of the facebook page and I am big supporter of this community you can check my previous posts, cloakcoin facebook page, IRC, and cloaktalk forum .... I feel so bad now ... Everything is gone ... This is my last chance and I hope that some of you guys will consider a small donation. Thanks

how are you connecting to TeamViewer?  Through an encrypted VPN?  Are you 100% sure your connection through TeamViewer is encrypted?  If you are connected through an unencrypted connection,  like many freeware screen sharing Aps allow, someone can EASILY see everything you are typing, like your password.  does anyone else besides you have physical access to the computer that had your wallet on it?  What operating system did it use? With crypto becoming more popular, hackers are going to be coming up with new clever ways to steal coins.

Some basic things to remember:
1.)  encrypt, always always encrypt
2.)  encrypt with a password uncommon to any other you use and contains numbers, letters, AND symbols.  A password longer than 8 characters is infinitely hard to bruteforce.
3.)  never download anything you are not 100% sure is legit, and always preform a md5 checksum on said download when you can.

Glad to have my money back at least, not sure how I feel about what happened with the fork but oh well.

Thanks VRC Devs for being on your game.

To be honest I'm a little disappointed to hear about "regulations" in OneMarket.  I thought the idea was a decentralized "anything goes" type market.  You can't control what people do with it.  The beauty is unlike a hidden Tor site, you cannot shut it down.  Even hidden Tor services have a single point of seizure (server), but OneMarket would not live in any one place, like the blockchain.  You would not be able to arrest the cloak team because they aren't actually hosting anything, no one is. This = freedom from censorship and rules.

If you ban illegal drugs, I'm sorry but you are missing out on millions of dollars of Cloak that could be transacted per year.  Why have an elaborate anonymous marketplace if I'm buying PS4?  I think the key thing here is freedom, freedom to buy and sell what we please in a place that cannot be controlled by an entity.  People can already buy/sell illegal things anonymously without OneMarket

It's a tough spot to be in though, because I do disagree with illegal drugs, child porn, guns, etc.  But I will be showing my disagreement by not buying and supporting sellers thay sell these things with OneMarket.

It's easy for you to say this, as you are not going to be the one going to prison for making this.  And I am getting the general vibe that many people here want OneMarket to be the new Silk Road.  This is really dangerous for the developers, guys.

I see your point, however isn't that like arresting someone that created some video editing software because someone else used it to edit child porn?  The software itself isn't doing anything illegal, the people using it would be. The Devs are not selling anything illegal, nor are they profiting from it if the listing fees go to the miners, nor are they hosting it like a website or something.

OneMarket could have the option of "blocking" certain listings from being viewed by the user.  If I don't want to see illegal drugs on OneMarket, I can simply block that category or key word and my OneMarket experience will be like those listings never existed

This is not even an option.

Blame Mintpal not Vericoin. Rollback is a must. If Vericoin doesn't rollback then it will be worth NOTHING. The coin will be DEAD.

There is a reason why Bitcoin transactions aren't arbitrarily reversed after thefts.

There shouldn't be a rollback. A hardfork to undo this is worse than the thief dumping the coins. Mintpal are just trying to erase their losses here.

Apples & oranges @ no time was almost 30% of ALL BTC stolen.

Firstly, it makes no difference just because it's a large number. Decentralisation and irreversibility are the two fundamental underpinning tenets of Bitcoin. I guarantee you, long term, Vericoin price will be hurt more by doing this rollback than just leaving it be. No new future investors will touch a coin that does something like this. Either way the price will be damaged by this, if some of you are naive enough to think a dirty rollback will "fix everything" and the price will carry on as normal, you are going to be in for a shock.

Secondly, there is not much of a difference between doing this once and doing it for every theft. It's a dangerous precedent.

You going to answer my questions or ignore them like EVERYONE ELSE who is FUDDING right now?

So to put things in perspective, you'd be okay with absolutely nothing being done about a simultaneous 33% acquisition of the bitcoin supply by a malicious thief along with 51% of the network hash by that same person?

You think it'd be a better precedent to allow a thief complete control over the network in the name of "fundamental underpinning tenets?"

Listen dumbass. In that situation a hacker isn't going to spend a week fucking around with the network and watching his $2million worth of of Vericoin become worthless as the price bombs on every exchange due to what he is doing. He will sell his Vericoin whilst they are still worth something.

How is the hacker going to sell when no exchange will reopen trading until the fork is complete?

its beeing Tweeted a lot but i havent seen any answers , Why did mintpal have 8 million in Hot wallets ??

A better question would be WHEN did the transfer from cold storage to hot wallet take place?  If it was soon before the attack took place, one would have to question MintPal because there may be something bigger going on here.

I still show my full VRC balance in MintPal.  Does this mean my coins by chance were not part of what was stolen?  Has anyone seen the balance actually affected or do they just not update.

Latest OSX Wallet on Mavericks 10.9.2 did not go on the right fork from what I can tell.  It was stuck somewhere around block 5905 or so.  Would not sync, restarted multiple times.  I deleted blockchain data and database, and now its syncing again.

Dumb question. How do i stake? I have the coins in the new wallet but theres no box to check for pos like in one of the pictures here.

Click Unlock Wallet.   You will then be prompted for your password.  You will also see a check box that says "For Staking Only".  Make sure that is checked.  Thats all!  If you hover over the Cloak icon in the lower right hand corner, it will tell you if you are minting or not.

CLOAK will easily surpass DRK prices, and when OneMarket comes out, pluto.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 12, 2014, 07:31:41 AM
Can someone explain what happened to all the XBC from the new blockchain?  From my understanding, a completely new blockchain was established and a 1:1 coin swap was initiated.  Therefore, you had to have access to all 56k XBC in order to do the coinswap.  What happened to the XBC that was not swapped over?  Is it in the current devs posession?
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 05, 2014, 09:14:09 PM
We have access to the XBCplus.com domain host now. Things are being transitioned over. The FUD is rampant. I am not gone, i have RL obligations that were known by everyone.   I have made my RL contact info known also. Promote truth !

Have you had any contact with Serious or Wallenstein?  How were you able to have access to the domain?
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 04, 2014, 05:49:24 PM
I am literally in shock here.I cannot believe this team would allow this to happen to their community and investors.Surely there is some logical explanation.Even a complete overhaul and relaunch would be better than allowing this to happen.I am absolutely dumbfounded by what is happening here.I am also a holder of XBC.

you and me both.  I thought we had such momentum going
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 04, 2014, 04:11:07 PM
So jiapetz, you are saying everyone except you and coinerz have officially left XBC?  If so, then the top priority would be too get another team assembled to continue where it was left off.

Obviously the domain was paid for.  Anything you can do will help.  Let me know what i can do.  XBC will NOT die this way.

376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 04, 2014, 11:33:58 AM
It doesn't make sense for the team to abandon the coin after a lot of effort went into creating a new working wallet and rebuilding the image of the coin.  I think they, like all of us, just needed a breath of fresh air after working so long and hard.  Every board member of XBC was required to hold at least 1% of the coins, so it is also in their financial interest to continue developing the coin.

To every XBC holder, don't give in to temptation, hold your coins.  You will be happy you did.  XBC really hasn't seen the light of day yet.  It has really only been traded on Poloniex, MintPal will give XBC the exposure and volume it deserves.
377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed 5-Chip USB & Blade Miner Support/Tuning on: June 02, 2014, 09:15:45 AM
When trying to connect to Miningrigrentals.com service, cpuminer-gc3355 returns a "Unable to Resolve host http(null)" error.  I can connect to any other pool just fine.  I have emailed Miningrigrentals tech support and they were unable to diagnose any problem on their end.  Sandor, any ideas?  I saw earlier in this thread someone had the same exact issue trying to connect to Miningrigrentals servers.  Any help is appreciated!
