anyway, my 'rationalization' on HODL

What I would dump at the first chance given is my B2X coins, bitgold, and any other BTC forks that comes along.
I just need a safe way to do it.

1) Miners attack - inevitably leading to POW change.

Not really inevitably. I would give low chances for that extreme outcome.

Quote
After the fork, 2X'ers will dump  their BTC stash and dramatically reduce the price

We'll see. Up to now no one put their money where their mouth is.

Quote
3) CME is a godsend tool for shorters, and has been engineered to come online just before the fork.(2 days before)  It is not good news at the moment.

yes, and this is why I always disagreed with people happy to see big money enter in the scene.

Quote
4)  BTC may well immediately drop 15% after the fork. It shouldn't 'create value out of thin air' like the Cash fork.

15% would be a small correction. The question is what happens later. But atm I'm quite confident in bitcoin resilience. And similar previous attacks failed utterly.

Quote
The easiest attack for them is just creating empty blocks

I'm always been in favor of invalidating empty blocks. And now there are more reasons to do it.

Quote
6) The new difficulty algorithm in BCash becomes active a 2 days before the fork, again this has been engineered to ensure BCash can efficiently steal mining power from other chains.

They keep that trash alive just by a korean exchange which must be JihadWu's playground. BCH is a zombie coin whose expiry date is near.

Quote
they are un-predicatble because, as in a war, they depend of the tactics employed by the opposition. It all depends on the mind of the enemy, something you can't really know for sure.

The point is what is their objective. Since they cannot seriously believe that their alt would keep the bitcoin value they must be in just for the destruction, sponsored by TPTB behind the scene.

I'm bullish for long term BTC, and will only support the original Core Chain, but the times are very uncertain and locking in some profits now is probably a wise move, (TBH I've already completed a sell, as I don't want to get caught in a rush for the door).

+1. But do not count on being able to buy back your btc cheaper. I would dump only what I can afford to forget about.

Rare pic of a BCH bagholder in the wild:

now the question is if bitcoin is more a commodity or a stock:

The choice between the legacy bitcoin and 2x is a choice between a continuously proven and non-censorable store of value, and a provenly compromised store of value with temporarily lower transaction fees.

So let me get this straight.

The CME Group is supposed to launch Bitcoin futures trading on Nov 14th. Then, "The Idiots Who Shall Not Be Named" are set to launch SegWit2x on Nov 16th.

And everyone thinks this timing is nothing more than coincidental??   Huh

Looks like all the pieces are in place for a Big Short.
Well, it was nice until it lasted.

Now to be cool takes a LONG extension.

It lacks my favorite: Bitcore (BTX).

Predictions: 16K by 2018, 100K by 2025. What do you guys think?

For the moment it looks like we need a correction soon even on the long term log chart.

370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WinMiner v1.86a - auto switch windows app for multi miner optimization on: November 05, 2017, 10:01:36 AM
hi dev

i try winminer for a days..and i love it
can you add more option please..
like :
 1. temp control
 2. fan  control
 3. restart / reboot machine
 4. etc

thank you very much

(I'm not related to winminer) but
I added the appropriate switches for sgminer (the only that I use because my cards are too old) in the miners tab (such as --gpu-fan --gpu-engine --gpu-vddc --gpu-fan etc. see: https://pastebin.com/nCyYzb4W ). I guess that similar switches should exist for Claymore.
371  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much BTC will fall in 3 days after Segwit2x fork in November? on: November 05, 2017, 09:34:12 AM
I don't think that there will be any fork-related drop until people find a safe way to split their S2X coins.
In fact I don't think that there is any way up to now.

But a wildcard that I'm expecting is the implosion of Finex.

What the fuck is this?  A complete conspiracy?  Do you have any evidence at all that this is likely beyond pure speculation that Bitfinex is getting BIG again?

By the way, Bitfinex has to have a bit of confidence in their solvency and even their attempt to run a legitimate business since they had the balls to kick out all of the USA customers, including yours truely.  Maybe you are going to assert that I am naive, but if Bitfinex truely wanted to exit scam us, wouldn't they have already done it?  They weren't ready to exit scam us, so now they are building up business in order to exit scam us on their own convenient time line?

Come on!!!

[insert jim carey "come on meme" here, with the water spitting part]

"Solvency" sounds funny when their banking relations are top secret (if they still have any), and they rely on that tether thing with funny clauses sounding as the opposite of solvency.

I recommend a couple of articles on medium by @bitfinexed. For me, they actually scammed me when they "got hacked" and monetized the theft (!) after falsely assuring their clients that their wallets were in cold storage (!), so I am out of there since then, but since apparently it's full of people looking to be goxxed twice or more by the same entity they're going on. And given such questionable reputation the fact that they are now the biggest exchange smells to me like some kind of fakery.

BTW it takes no balls at all to kick out US customers. Quite the contrary.

Ok, here's the next cool alt:

374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 04, 2017, 02:12:41 PM
am I missing something?
...But what drives this - is it simply because Core is THAT hated?  And if it is, will the 2X cohort have any chance of pulling this off...

You're missing that bigblockers are just a false front/astroturfing ruse to kill the last decentralized piece of the bitcoin network (nodes) so to pwn it.
And that's the least that you can expect from TPTB, who are doing that just because they identified nodes as the the weak point -and rightly so since they are just a bunch of nerds doing unpaid volunteer work with their own scarce means.

What drives it is the threat to fiat money constituted by bitcoin. If their next forking attack will fail (((they))) will try other vectors. Of this I am quite certain.

Really ? I´m making a killing with funding at finex. I moved hundreds of bitcoin through them. Never a problem. Give me a reason, other than the hacking from before. They all got hacked before. Nothing to see here. Walk on !

I too made a killing with funding there, until they made a killing on me when they got "hacked".
Maybe have a look at this:

You mean that after all of this discussion of "wave 5", we have not even arrived at it yet?Huh

 Angry Angry Angry

I am really ANGRY, if you cannot tell...

Idk. They say that you can see waves with some certainty only retrospectively, and I'm not an expert for sure.

IMO I don't expect much resistance until the 9K, even because S2X seems to be a dud even worse than the other fork attacks.
And once S2X will be revealed as the fail that it is I see just a free highway going forward.

But a wildcard that I'm expecting is the implosion of Finex.
377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2017, 05:41:51 PM
I just finished reading the open letter, and, I must admit, it scared the hell out of me. I have already sold all my Bitcoin Cash. I really wish things will not turn out the way the letter describes!

Wondering if we all should have kept our BCH... Shocked

Jimbo and jbreher may well turn out to be the smartest guys among us.

True bitcoiners are not in it for the money, but for the principle, since the beginning. I dumped all my bitcointrash on day 1 and won't regret it even if they go to 1 million each.

And that even if I am not hostile to non-hostile alts and forks. So much that I'm liking Bitcore (BTX) lately.
378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2017, 05:37:45 PM
I doubt it won't go parabolic within logarithmic before.

I guess that parabolic within logarithmic would involve a space-time reversal or something.
