We support like 40 coins, all of them have something bubbling, for none of them do we have update stratum code unless it's a new algo. First we were told we just needed to update client, which we complied with as fast as we could. If some one could point to some clear instructions on what needs to be done, we would attempt to comply, but so far nothing (something beyond then just "update NOMP" as we have to write the solution custom ourselves.)

Hi, I have to agree with this, there should be no stratum modifications necessary for the masternode payments, they should be done within the coin wallet code, there is code already out there for this, check freicoin or other coins that have automated donations.

People are going to exploit this to steal masternode payments.  I guarantee it.

I can't see how once it's enforced. Care to elaborate ?

Always wanted to ask this question  :   Anonymous ?  Bitcoin is not ?  So .... if i want to do something illegal , or anonymous /take some dildo for my wife from a web store / , why i can't do it with a BTC ?  I want to transfer my "bad" money in btc  ----- what is the problem ---- i am in London's airport , with a usb stick in my pocket , with an bootstrap.dat on it , bye one laptop in nearest shop in cash /if you are doing bad things wit a lot of money one laptop is not a big deal/, put bootstrap.dat from the USB stick on it,start it obtaining a new btc address .......transfer your BTC's to anyone  / who is on Tokyo airport for example / .....throw that laptop in the river ,saving my wallet.dat before......and who can trace me ?

In the scenario you have given, you are traceable from start to finish, every which way, upside down and all over. Welcome to the 21st century.

Explain pls how ...im an DRK holder, just want to see the + and the -  of it .

The BTC on the new generated address came from somewhere... easy to trace.
You keep the new wallet.dat, so you will use it again... hmmm at that point keep the laptop too.

i download

Release Candidates (v0.10.11.5)
http://www.darkcoin.io/getstarted.html

user this guide.
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/DarkSendDocumentation.pdf

but  everytime, i send drk with darksend it shows error.

"darkSend Status => Your transaction was accepted into the pool!"
"darkSend Status => ( Entries 1/3 )"
then
"darkSend Status => idle"

anyone can help me out?

DarkSend is waiting for 2 other transactions. However, at this stage (RC) there are not many people using it simultaneously. A work around (for testing purpose) is to divide the amount you want to send by 3, and send them with DarkSend one after the other.

I do not have definitive proof but I suspect some MNs are not paid because their signature has been banned. So, we can see some missing payments even though the pool has updated to 10.11.4.

So, I've updated to 10.11.5 on MNs and also tried to update my private key signature to see if it makes any difference.

Can you elaborate on this? I don't quite understand.

*** VERSIONS 9.11.5 AND 10.11.5 ARE AVAILABLE ***

The network has been experiencing some odd banning behavior caused by bad masternode signatures. I removed the code that bans the other party when this happens will I'll find the underlying cause and fix it in RC4. Please update if you're experiencing any problems or run a masternode.

Thanks,

The Darkcoin Team

One technical question about DarkSend.

Let's say that I have 110 DRK in one address and I want to pay 30 DRK to another user using DarkSend.

DarkSend does something called "denomination". What does this mean? That it will send first 100 DRK to another address and then include these 100 DRK in DarkSend pool from this address?

Is this just this one transaction (in this example) or maybe denomination does also something else so that the original address (with 110 DRK at the beginning) is somehow obfuscated?

Thanks.

Recap of How DarkSend Works

DarkSend functions in a way that is very similar to a tumbler, which is an idea that has been around for quite a while, but with a few specifications that increase the effectiveness.  It has went through multiple changes and updates, but the most recent release, release candidate 2 (RC2), is nearing complete anonymity.

When a user, let’s call him Tim, sends darkcoins through DarkSend to another user, let’s call her Sandy, he must send 10 darkcoins, even if that amount is larger than what he would like to pay her.  DarkSend then puts his coins in a pool, and pauses until two additional users initiate transactions.  These new users will add their own 10 darkcoins to the pool, and DarkSend blends the 30 coins into a random assortment.  If we assume that Tim wanted to send Sandy 8 darkcoins, then at this point 8 darkcoins would be deposited into Sandy’s wallet, but those 8 coins would be a mix of coins from all 3 users that had initiated transactions.  Tim’s remaining 2 coins are placed into a Random Pool Address (RPA) which was created during the transaction.  This RPA is not tied to any user, thus it is impossible to connect to a specific user, but Tim can access it.

This process is happening for the other 2 users that  sent 10 darkcoins through DarkSend as well, so at the end, it is impossible to determine which transaction was related to a specific user.  To an outside observer, 3 users put 30 darkcoins in, and 3 – 6 addresses receive coins out (3 if each user intended to send a full 10 darkcoins, up to 6 if each user intended to send less than 10 darkcoins).

Thanks for the questions. It does seem like you're missing something. Although, it might not be your fault. The whitepaper is definitely out of date. We've done a lot of work at tweaking the trust model so that it can't be exploited. I'll try to explain how it works briefly, then hopefully if I get time I can revisit the whitepaper soon.

- Masternodes don't have any power over the transactions. They just coordinate the signing. All parties must sign in order for the transaction to be valid. So there's no way to cheat and take the money.
- Users submit collateral. At a later phase if a user doesn't provide the signature as agreed, the transaction will fail. Without colateral this could be done over and over bringing the system to a halt.
- Masternodes have the ability to take the collateral transaction if they wish, but it's paid to the bounty fund. So it doesn't benefit them, it just benefits the community. This removed the incentive to cheat and take the money.

There's no relying on pools at all anymore. Payments to masternodes are done with a voting system embedded into the blockchain. It would take 51% of the mining power to pay the wrong masternode, or another party (because the last few miners to solve blocks must agree on who should be paid)

Transaction currently require 3 parties to be created, so there's a short wait. There are no fake transactions to make that quicker, although this could be done. There's usually 5 or so transaction per 2.5 minutes, so the network should be able to function pretty efficiently under these requirements.

Hoping that helps . Thanks,

Evan

Ok, thanks, but I don't see any "denomination" happening in these examples?

The amount sent, depending on its value, go thru a pool of 10, 100, 1000 etc. DRK.

Now that I'm reading this again:

Quote
We are group of seasoned software engineers, mathematicians and cryptographers. We take security, privacy and anonymity very seriously.

...my question is: What has this group done for privacy and anonymity in terms of cryptocurrencies? Bitcoin is running for 5 years and until DRK placed anonymity on the spotlight, nobody really cared, or they were passively waiting for Zerocoin that may, or may never come in a usable form. The only exception is the CryptoNote group (not the coins using CN).

Probably they've done nothing yet. Bitcoin community hasn't really built anything (except maybe SharedCoin, but this project is related to blockchain.info).

Seasoned troll is the only thing they are. It's easy to claim to be an expert in some field, where are their articles ? Their credentials ? We see that type of FUD at least twice a month.

PS: And there is surely only one person in that "group".

What do you DRK guys think about this "warning"? Do you expect "security analysis" of DarkCoin?

http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/28hqu3/warning_to_all_anonymous_coins_promoters_and/

We are group of seasoned software engineers, mathematicians and cryptographers. We take security, privacy and anonymity very seriously.
We are warning all promoters and pumpers (including, but not limited to: koolio, fontas, moosanyc, prometheus etc.) of altcoins that claim to have some sort of anonymity, privacy etc. features that we will analyze these features and publish results if these altcoins are heavily promoted and/or pumped.
In case of CryptCoin you could already see disastrous effects of such analysis on the coin price. The analysis was published on CryptCoin subreddit but was later removed by moderators.
Similar poor ideas and bad implementations have already been identified in number of other altcoins, including some that were recently heavily pumped. So please don't promote and pump any altcoin with special security, privacy or anonymity features unless you are convinced that these features can pass serious analysis.
Altcoin users: please take security, anonymity and privacy very seriously and don't trust any anonymity etc. feature unless it has been reviewed by experts. Sadly, we don't know any altcoin feature that has received such review.

Development plan:

-RC3 (June 20th): Fully implemented Masternode payments (20% of each block), fixes for network forking issues, multiple tickets per masternode

-RC4 (Mid July): Improved anonymity and removal of 10 DRK Darksend limitation

-Code Audit (if the seasoned cryptographers / programmers want to help, that is the stage where they'll have to contact Evan)

-RC5: Address any security issues or major bugs discovered in the audit

-Opensourcing of DarkSend

When will this code audit take place? End of july?

Between RC4 and RC5 no specific date.

I repeat myself, DarkSend is a feature. If you chose to buy a TV that integrates some new technologies do you consider this as a form of coercion ?

Absolutely, if a console tracks my eye movement claiming that it's the cool new game control method... I would completely feel coerced when this eye tracker keeps on checking me while I am NOT gaming.

I fail to see your point, if we use your example DarkSend permits on the contrary to protect your privacy. It's like saying "I don't like cash because I'm forced to be anonymous".
