361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Congratulations! we did it - people are saying bitcoins are a game for the rich on: September 17, 2013, 10:16:56 PM
I guess to Mr. Frank, the internet is also not a "real product."  Just make shit up huh, well he should be pretty rich if it's that easy.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fattest 250 bitcoin addresses on: September 16, 2013, 05:51:01 PM
somebody should send 1 btc to 1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a , just to piss off the owner who wants to keep it cool with straight 1s.

It'll probably happen with all the people spamming advertisements and begging.
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have $2,500 to spend? on: September 14, 2013, 05:48:01 PM
I'm in the UK

I wouldn't use Mtgox until their issues are sorted out.  Check with Bitstamp, BTC-E, and CampBX to see which has the most favorable deposit method for your area.  Right now the spread between these 3 exchanges is small.

364  Economy / Economics / Re: War in Syria, disorder in middle-east, and oil price will affect BTC price? on: September 13, 2013, 05:39:03 PM
Whether Assad wins or the rebels, they both hate America.  The rebels are just putting up with the US because we're supplying them with guns.  It's a lose/lose situation for the US, you know, the typical type of situation that the US get themselves in...
365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is slowly shit. on: September 13, 2013, 05:35:31 PM
This is bullshit, I mailed a letter with no stamp and the postal service didn't deliver.

Fuck the USPS.
366  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are my BTC safe in Mt.Gox? on: September 12, 2013, 04:40:05 AM
Make two wallets.  One, a paper wallet for long term storage.  Two, a blockchain wallet for purchases.  You can read up on the wiki if you don't know how to make a paper wallet, it's secure and very easy.

Payment received.  Requesting another month, thank you.
368  Economy / Economics / Re: How long do you think we have? on: September 10, 2013, 09:16:22 PM
What is the consequence of central banks writing off the government debt (debt forgiven)?

You can't write off the debt that is hold by foreign investors, but you can write off the debt that is hold by central banks, but will that action hurt anyone?

You can write off any debt you want but it will be considered a default.  It could have systemic effects particularly due to the amount of derivatives in the market now like credit default swaps.

Check the Service Discussion section.

The same Paypal that called Bitcoin users thieves or something to that effect?  Yeah fuck them.
371  Economy / Economics / Re: War in Syria, disorder in middle-east, and oil price will affect BTC price? on: September 07, 2013, 05:59:52 PM
The US is war weary (as can be seen by the poll results which are strongly opposed to intervention) so Obama's actions will be limited in scope and ineffective.  We'll probably launch a hundred or so cruise missiles at some targets of no real value, since they've had weeks to move their assets to civilian areas (and are doing so).  Maybe a limited air attack.  Obama's stupid "red line" speech is the only reason we're doing anything.  1,500 killed by sarin and now we want to intervene when over 100,000 have already been killed by bullets.  Give me a break.

The only way this escalates is if Syria is stupid enough to try and use anti-ship missiles on the US or Israel gets heavily involved.

373  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1500hrs - BTC plunging on: September 06, 2013, 11:55:20 PM
It "plunged" to the price it was, what, a week ago?  Roll Eyes
A 17% drop in value from peak is significant, I think.....

You must be new.
374  Economy / Services / Re: [Idea] Property investment with Bitcoin on: September 06, 2013, 08:41:40 PM
Do you have any skill as a general contractor?  Typically flippers can do so because they can either do the labor themselves or get labor cheap.  Most of those TV shows typically low ball the costs to make for good viewing.

The current Mt. Gox exchange rate is used with no additional fees.

Finally a way to get your money out of Gox!  That might be a lot of hamburgers though....
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Nokia invest $7.2 billion in Bitcoins and what would happen if they did? on: September 03, 2013, 07:56:23 PM
Nokia has shareholders to answer to, at this juncture no public company is going to invest massively in Bitcoin.  It will be people like the Winklevii for the foreseeable future until they make a strong ROI and we see significant adoption.
379  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment on: September 02, 2013, 08:55:39 PM
If you could get your mining equipment tomorrow, it might be viable but there's thousands of people ahead of you in line.  Some who have been waited for a very long time.  They will be mining well before you, which will hurt your ROI substantially.  In either case, your profitability lies in the appreciation of Bitcoin itself so you may as well invest directly in BTC.  With diversification, of course.
380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Obama says the US will attack Syria, Bitcoin value rises to new heights on: September 02, 2013, 08:50:29 PM
The Arabic countries should sell the oil only for bitcoins instead of USD as protest.

The Arab League just came out and said military force is not an option, a pretty big blow to Obama.
