Dear Groestlers!

I'm happy to announce that a new version (1.0.1.4) of Windows wallet is available in http://www.groestlcoin.org/downloads/. It's a minor update and only changes the artwork.

Also, now you can print out Groestlcoin on paper using our paper wallet generator: http://www.groestlcoin.org/paper.html

And finally, we have a dedicated Groestlcoin forum set up here: http://www.groestlcoin.org/forum/

Please start migrating to the new forum.

Some words about near future... Next plans are to release Android Wallet and Android Miner. We'll keep you posted.

Thank you!

To all miners on https://cpu-pool.net/grs/!!!

Looks like there are some problems on the pool. Please move to other pools immediately until this is resolved!

Last block that the pool found was 71979, while now it is 75088-th block.
Last hour  statisitcs is also showing 0.

I've notified the operator:

Quote
Hi ex_mac!

I have some complaints from miners on your pool that the payments have stopped and now new GRS are accounted.

Could you please double check this and reply to the BTC talk forum!

Thank you
GRS dev (srcxxx)

My pools are (a bit of self promotion here, all fees to towards GRS promo, bounties, etc):
* grs.cryptohunger.com (0.8%, MPOS, nice statistics and graphs, etc, registration necessary)
* groestlcoin.biz (1%, super simple interface, no withdrawal fees, NO registration - just use your wallet as login address). For example: sgminer.exe -k groestlcoin --difficulty-multiplier 0.00390625 -o stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3333 -u FYEAbFBG3xY5VUtE9GXC56v5UKt4xkoUkb -p x

and of course, you can use other pools mentioned on http://www.groestlcoin.org/pools/

PS: And remember to always have backup pools set up.

I don't believe it has testnet?

Why not?

All bitcoin forks have testnet. It just sometimes it is broken.
I used it on groestlcoin. Works pretty well.
You just need two wallets with different ports on the same machine, and there you go... Your testnet with super low difficulty.

http://www.hashharder.com/groestl/diamondcoin

Please help us test that this pool is working.

Hi pool operators trying to set up pool mining for DMD!

Maybe a stupid question, but still here I go... Why don't you use testnet? This way difficulty is very low and you can see if you've solved a block or not in a matter of minutes. Why do you need mainnet?

Thanks

Is there an update to this guide? Where do you find a matching version of the bamt for this?

This wotks for BAMT 1.6.2 with minor modifications. If you provide the exact problem that you have, I could help.

Or you can download 1.3 here: http://bamt.wikia.com/wiki/Litecoin_BAMT#Versions

Hi!

Where can you buy/sell DMD right now?

Is cryptsy now fixed?

Thanks

Hallo my friends.
Sorry but I'm a little newbe.

Which command I have to make to compile the wallet in Ubuntufrom sources?
Thanks everybody

P.S.
With sgminer on Cryptohumger I have:
Code:
[21:41:27] Started sgminer 4.1.0

  __constant static const sph_u64 T0[] = {
                    ^

./kernel/groestl.cl(107): error: a global-scope declaration may not have this
          storage class
  __constant
[21:41:29] Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0
[21:41:29] Restarting the GPU from the menu will not fix this.
[21:41:29] Try restarting sgminer.
Press enter to continue:

Hi!

Are you trying to compile the wallet or sgminer?

The code that you provided seems to be from sgminer.

If you need to build wallet in Ubuntu, you just go to the "src" folder and type "make" and then wait about 5 minutes.

Thanks

I hate to say this because this is my favorite coin but the new logo looks like something from google services.

Hi!

This new logo is simple and elegant. That is the current trend, so I very much approve the switch.

It is not possible to please everyone. For example, I do not like Apple iOS7 new design. And for logos, I like shiny, gold, shadows, etc (qualities, that the new logo doesn't have). But in the long run - I think the new logo is very good for Groestlcoin.

And we have something hot to support the new logo launch. Stay tuned.

>Looks like google services...
It may actually be a plus somewhere deep inside most people's inner mind. Not that it was designed to be like that. Just happened. They use "g", we use "g".

The new logo is approved by people who know marketing and product placement.

Thanks

Good that coinmine.pl is back from DDOS! And thank you for looking into the problems so fast.

You now have 260MH. Could we have some more miners on coinmine.pl to better distribute hash?
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 05, 2014, 04:05:38 AM
yeah i know

There is a mistake with the shown hashrate at your pool i have about 7.5 MH/s and it shows 0.01 MH/s. I know it isn't important at this point, but you should know it Wink

To all pool operators who have MPOS and have incorrect MH statistics...

This is how I fixed it in my Groestlcoin pool:

public\include\classes\coins\coin_scrypt.class.php:

Quote
<?php
$defflip = (!cfip()) ? exit(header('HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized')) : 1;

/**
 * We extend our CoinBase class
 * No need to change anything, base class supports
 * scrypt and sha256d
 **/
class Coin extends CoinBase {
  protected $target_bits = 24;
}

?>

By default this value is 16. My guess is that it multiplies it by 256, which is the difficulty multiplier for Groestl algo.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GRS] GroestlCoin: Democratizing Mining | AES Accelerated | Ultimate PoW on: May 04, 2014, 10:24:18 PM
had temporary problems with cryptohunger.com.

As usual, make sure you have backup pools setup!

And consider moving your hash rate from bigger pools to evenly distribute hashrate. Currently we have:
7.4GH on dwarfpool.com/grs
7GH on grs.cryptohunger.com
4.8GH on cpu-pool.net/grs
1.5GH on grs.suprnova.cc
0.6GH on groestlcoin.biz

www2.coinmine.pl - DEAD
http://www.omargpools.ca/grs/ - 0 workers?
http://grs.5limi.com/ - 0 workers?

Could we have more hashrate on groestlcoin.biz and grs.suprnova.cc?

Hi all, I just joined and wanted to try mining this coin but I have a problem:
I cannot sync my wallet. It always tells me "6 weeks behind"...also added "groestlcoin.net add" in the debug console but nothing changed.

Any help pls?

Hi!

I think there was a problem with seed node. Could you try again?

Thanks
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 04, 2014, 08:55:13 AM
Stratum pool at http://groestlcoin.biz/ is now set up and running in experimental mode (until at least 1 block is found). If you want, you can join.

User stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3334 and your wallet address as login. Password is ignored.

It's accepting shares, now for our first block, were at 140mhs.

Still no blocks. I think that something is wrong. I'll keep mining (43MHS) at my pool overnight just to be sure. But other users - please avoid for now. I think it is not working properly. Not registering found blocks or something like that.

Note: I'm using exact same NOMP setup as Groestlcoin (which works fine).

Thanks

Talked to NOMP guys, they are not sure what's wrong. Anyways, I've disconnected the server for now to avoid people mining in vain. Something is definitely not right.
Perhaps that's the POS/POW issue, because NOMP detects Diamond as "POS" coin.

Fake hash rate on grs.cryptohunger.com

We Need P2pool To overcome these stratum exploit ,

We also need pool operators to patch this exploit - it has been known for at least a year... https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=4002.0

Legit miners should get out of that pool.

On the bright side - one of the two fake miner is donating to the pool  Undecided

I believe that my pool is patched against this exploit. At least I don't see any suspicious miners and actual number of blocks is approximately equal to calculated. This used to be 3.7X more when I contacted OCMiner about the exploit.

If you are worried - try mining on NOMP pool (groestlcoin.biz), it is using a brand new stratum which doesn't have this problem.

It is kind of easy to check.  The top two guys each have about 15% of the hashrate of your pool.  They should find 15% of the blocks.  Over the last 20 blocks, they found 6 blocks and 3 blocks respectively.  6/20 = 30%,  3/20 = 15%.  It matches, therefore, they seem legit.

Yes, I do this check all the time. But what if high hashers are legit and some minor miners are sending fake shares? Or if somebody has 2 rigs sending normal shares and 5 rigs sending fake shares? In such case it'll just look as very unlucky miner.

So this worries me a bit. Does anyone know where to get this "fake share" miner code to verify that it doesn't work with our pools?

If you are on MPOS pool, then you can check "blocks statistics" and it'll show you some info like this:

As you can see, it is 5% above expected value. That's ok, I believe fluctuations like that a normal. But I'll make sure to keep an eye on this to make sure it does not grow.

For reference, the compromised pool had 200% all time average and 370% 7 day average.

What is a "fake hash"?

Have you been getting "share below target" messages?

Should now be fixed. Please double check.

Cryptohunger.com will be disconnected for approximately 30 minutes today for some reconfiguration due to high load.
Please make sure you have back up servers set up!

What is --difficulty-multiplier for?

I have logged a change of default value request for this difficulty-multiplier in sph-sgminer thread. Hopefully, next version of sph-sgminer will not have it at all (i.e. it'll set it to proper value automatically)
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sph-sgminer: multi-coin multi-algorithm GPU miner | added MaruCoin on: May 03, 2014, 08:27:23 AM
Dear sph-sgminer developers!

I am developer of Groestlcoin and also manager of two Groestlcoin mining pools (MPOS and NOMP).
I would like to log a feature request: I'd like you to change the default "difficulty-multiplier" from 1 to corresponding value as per your 1st post:
Quote
For QubitCoin, Quark and Animecoin it will be usually 256. For Groestlcoin, Fuguecoin and Twecoin it will be usually 0.0039062500 (1/256). Default value is 1.0.

I'll explain why: every day I'm getting a few questions from one of the pools, groestlcoin.org website or BTC talk community about this setting. People are confused.
Some people mine and don't get any accepted shares for hours (because they don't set multiplier to 0.00390625)
Some add this parameter, but the app would not start at all. (because they are using personal fork by Atrides@dwarfpool with this setting hardcoded, https://github.com/Atrides/sph-sgminer)
And they are also asking all the time what does this setting even mean.

Another problem is that ccMiner and 2 GPU miners that we have don't have this setting (I presume they are also using hardcoded setting), and some people think they need to set this param also for other mining applications.

I'm in contact with all Groestlcoin pool operators, and I believe we're all using the same setting. So changing default value from "1" to "0.00390625" for at least Groestlcoin is safe.

I tried to log this as a feature request in GitHub, but looks like that is disabled for sphsgminer.

Thank you

Hello guys, I tried to crank-up GRS mining today to see what speed I can get. I will share my results and configs. If somebody is able to squeeze higher speeds with the same gpus, please share your configs.

GPU0&1 -> MSI R280X GAMING
GPU2    -> SAPPHIRE R290
sgminer -k groestlcoin --difficulty-multiplier 0.00390625 -o stratum+tcp://cryptohunger.com:3333 -u user -p pass -I 19,19,20 -g 1,1,2 --gpu-engine 1200,1200,1100  --gpu-memclock 1050,1050,1000 --gpu-fan 60

Hey guy,are you serious.GPU at 1200,Can really go that high?
I tried my asus dc2t and his iceqx2 280x can not run beyond 1120.
What is --difficulty-multiplier for?

Yes, GPUs can go as high as 1200 or even higher (I have R9 270X that runs stable at 1220), but only on certain algorithms. Groestl is a very good example of this. For reference, same cards can only go as high as 1066 on Scrypt.

Difficulty multiplied is required by sph-sgminer application only. In case of ccminer or CPU miners, it is not required. I actually think it is a pretty stupid idea to make it a separate param, or at least not defaulting to a proper value.
