361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: June 01, 2014, 04:36:57 PM
anyone else here wake up and before anything immediate check the XC price and forums ? ... I remember doing this when Bitcoin was 2 dollars... :>

I have been doing that for over a week now ever since I bought XC. The way it was going last week it seemed totally possible I was going to wake up and it was going to be 10x what it was the night before. Seems that way still now that the price has been kept down for so long.

I like how the logo is so popular no one seems to notice that the dev made an update about the staking lol
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 31, 2014, 05:44:17 PM

This is ripped off from the xavier chambers logo that was posted earlier though. Did anyone get permission to use it?

We cannot use a logo that is lifted from an existing one if we want to be taken seriously. We need a fresh, unique and 100% ours logo. It is extremely important to not base the XC logo on an existing design.

I would argue that it's not wrong to implement characteristics of other designs into a new design as the new logo poster has done.

Lots of people produce products with similar designs. (Look at cars/trucks/vans...) I'd say as long as a certain percentage has changed then it shouldn't be an issue.

I would agree but this has more than just 'characteristics' of that other logo. It's a lawsuit and FUDstorm waiting to happen if it became the official XC logo.

still needed more donations to get curecoin at the bitcoin conference please support this will bring great things to the coin!

When is the conference exactly or by what date would you need the donations?

I sold all my CURE (100) when it was still at 0.0024 and spent the 0.24 on XC when it was 7k sats last week. I kinda feel dirty but I never stopped folding though lol and I fully expect XC to hit 0.01 or higher within another week or two...and when it does I will be cashing some out and re-investing in CURE (a lot more than I've sold) because I think it has a lot of long-term potential. I think the only problem is that it is still relatively unknown and not enough people are earning/folding for it. Once they do and everyone is only earning a smaller and smaller fraction per day (more rare/better distribution) it will start going places. All it needs is one good news story from a popular source to get it going. By the way when is that conference supposed to take place? If XC gets high enough soon enough I'd like to donate to that.

I am still doing some day trading but I am definitely in Curecoin for the long haul. Hoping to see you reinvest with a lot more money Smiley.

My 0.24 which was worth about $125 at the time is now worth about 7.5 BTC or $4500. I won't be selling any until the price of XC is another 5 to 10 times what it is now (barring some catastrophic event). But yeah do the math...I won't have any problems throwing a btc or two back in to CURE. I also plan to keep on folding too. GPU mining makes no sense any more...it's just a waste of electricity and unnecessary strain on your hardware now IMO.

Hi thx for the reply,

If I save it as All files in properties it will stay anyway as a text file and not a .cnf file so do I have to put iit in the roaming folder just as a text doc?

thx

Rename it to X11Coin.Conf

I did it it is named X11Coin.Conf but just changing the name of the file does not change the format. Does it need to go inside the roaming folder in .txt or in .cnf? you can check the type of file you have in properties of the file.

You need to uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types' in your windows folder options to be able to properly rename a file.

Is here any good news ?

Yeah. The good news is all the trolls from both sides that want to have a pissing contest can go here:

They can piss all over each other and be ignored by the serious people. It's a win-win.

where is the review that the dev promised the article cannot be taken seriously guys cmon...

well, if the dev is "ROBOT" or... "COMPUTER" or... "SOMETHING FASTER THAN UR DAMN SUPER MINING RIG"
maybe he did post it after the 1st FUD
 Cheesy

oh btw, hi Abinto

HERE:

From peer review:
"There were claims that X11 Coin has used parts of the Fedora source more specifically the mixer.cpp section of the source-tree. I have found this to be untrue, as the code is unique to X11"

http://cryptopump.info/x11-coin-xc-its-secure-and-unique-mixer-implementation/

#win

You may or may not remember in the last thread I said this peer review would be make or break, and that the choice of reviewer would be crucial.

Will there be anyone else publishing on this?

Not an attack, I have been a supporter of this for a long time but I have a large investment in it and would like to know.

I remember and I agree. I think that cryptico is right. Wtf is cryptopump.info and why should we take this article as meaningful? If you go to their main page http://cryptopump.info/ there are only two articles. That one, and one from May 6th.

I like that you invited Abinito to review it even though he dodged it. But really though there should be some qualified trusted impartial people chosen for this review if it is to mean anything to curious/skeptical investors.

It's sad that the dev has to waste his time doing this sort of thing in the first place, but if it's going to be done anyway it may as well be done right.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 09:56:25 PM
Again, why exactly was a X11coin moderated thread created under the supervision of a large bagholder and not under the supervison of the developer of X11coin?

Because the developer is busy developing. The thread starter is part of the xc team.

^This.
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS ANON on: May 29, 2014, 04:48:44 PM
Thank you so much for this. If you are able to provide good moderation by deleting ONLY blatant FUD and not "difficult" questions, this will have been the greatest decision and will be reflected on the price.

^This. I'm glad you made this thread but it would also be bad if every "negative" post about XC is just deleted. That would look like intentional manipulation and make people lose confidence. Difficult questions should stay for sure and I think some FUD posts should even stay, except that it should be addressed and countered with facts in 1 or two posts, and then put to rest, and not be allowed to be spammed over and over. Then if someone else comes along later trying to spread the same FUD they can be referred to the original counter-posts with the facts and put to rest right away again with a single post. Obviously it will be a balancing act to remain objective/transparent and still keep the clutter down.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS X11 anonymous wallet on: May 29, 2014, 04:12:49 PM
Still making some changes Smiley

I quite like that design. Possibly needs to be remade in Adobe Illustrator with higher detail, perhaps by a Pro (graphic designer in the community?) but yes I like, well done.

I LOVE this design... but your C needs more rouded liek an actual C else it looks like NHL and those look like hockey sticks (im from canada) - but im serious... as serious as canadians can be

I like this design too but yeah I'm also from Canada and I was also thinking hockey sticks when I looked at this. lol. Does look like a wrench too but I think if the jagged "teeth" from the inside of the "C" were removed and made smooth too it would look a lot better. But again, the concept itself if it were redone professionally I think would be a great logo.

I just read through all the comments from page 250

So basically someone compared XC code to another coin and then the official twitter of another coin retweeted that. I guess people fear XC and it's potential.
I see XC is on the rise again, and oh here is to all the people still in doubt of XC:

Haha I was thinking the same thing about this "crash". Why the panic? It only went back to where it was a day ago. No big deal. It reached this level because of the end of the POW and the release of the rev1 anon wallet. This was just a correction and shaking out of some weak hands. I don't expect it to go too much higher anyway for another 3 weeks or so until we approach the rev2 release and android wallet. I just wish I had more BTC so I could buy more at these cheap prices.

You definitely have earned that "Ingnored". Hope we get a second moderated thread soon. Can t take it anymore. To much bs and not enough serious xc stuff.

It's al-right, no need for any moderation! You can stop feeding them now Tongue

@altsecure, really good job so far, just like eduff did for dark, thoughts are with you and don't let the haters get you down  Kiss

It s not about feeding them or not. They keep going anyhow whether they get reactions or not. This thread has lost most of his quality by not being moderated. Furthermore i was talking about a second thread which means anyone would be free to enjoy the bs talk here. I m sure not many would do so.

Trust me I saw what trolls did to the old unmoderated BlackCoin thread. It was literally flooded with sockpuppet accounts on every page spreading FUD. As soon the topic switched to moderated and the trolls saw their posts getting deleted the topic became readable again.

I'd rather not see it happen though. It took a few weeks of trolling before BC team folded and made it self-moderated, so lets see what happens here.

I hope we can keep it clean and professional. No way to do so without moderation. You could say: "Ignore" them. But i d have to ignore the reactions to them as well, even if they came from serious xc dudes. Not moderated means not readable means not worthy of xc, its developer and members.

I'd love to have a moderated thread as well. I'm trying to keep up with this thread as far as actual news and updates from the dev, and reasonable discussion about said news/updates, but it's getting rediculous. I think we were only at page ~120ish yesterday morning and now we're at page ~300.

I thought it was bad enough with provenceday posting huge wall posts with large bold letters and them him immediately double- and triple- posting and quoting himself, even after he has been asked several times to stop doing that, and then apologizing for it, etc.

Now 95% of the posts are troll FUD and some Aussies swinging their dicks around and hardly anything substantial. All it does is waste the time of the people trying to keep up with the developments and follow the actual serious/substantial discussion.

Also I'd like to suggest that any time there is an news from the dev regarding timelines for new updates, changes to PoW (I know it is over now, this is an example), teamview sessions, a new wallet release, or whatever, it should be immediately updated in the OP so that newcomers, or ppl with questions coming here looking for answers, can find the new updated info immediately instead of asking questions about "Why does the OP say such and such and what is actually going on?" Or "why are you saying this and that is the way things are now when the OP says something different? blah blah blah" without having to sift through hundreds of pages of nonsense to find the new info.

This coin is still very young and is in it's early stages and I think people just need to realize that and just chill out a bit and realize that if they have questions they may need to wait a bit to get an answer. There are only so many hours in a day and a few people can only accomplish so much. ATC just got done working on the stage 1 anon wallet release and has already made it clear that it is just a centralized mixer for now and is a stop-gap while he works on the next one which is several weeks away. He already said now that stage 1 is finished he is going to work on tying up loose ends and organizing the info of where XC is at and where it's going, and work on the next release, etc. but geez a man needs to sleep amiright? ppl are only delaying things by making him have to stop actually working to address all this endless FUD, and wade through the same hundred pages of garbage posts that we all are, just to stay up to date himself.

What am I doing wrong ?

I have: 6 core AMD 3.5 Mhz + 5 x R9 270.
CPU is paused to prevent folding, only GPUs are folding.
For 4 days I have:

1.1 Milion points in folding panel
200K points in pool ( Huh )
24 CUREs in pool.

This is too less, really...

You are not doing anything wrong.

You have been averaging about 180k PPD over the last 4 days and the total pool points have been ~220M PPD over those 4 days.

~180k / ~220M * 7488 = ~6 CURE / day...over 4 days that's ~24 CURE.

Your points from yesterday were much higher than that average though at 316k so you should get:

~316k / ~240M * 7488 = ~10 CURE today.
However, why I have 1.1 milions on folder panel and only 200K on pool?

1.1 million is your total. 200k is your daily.

HI

What to look at when folding:

1: TPF is the time it takes to fold 1%, when you start folding you need to wait until 1% are fold before you get the numbers right for TPF.
2: If you get a work that stalls with 99.99% then you need to put the folding slot for that work in to "On Idle" and then delete the work that fails.
if you can't delete the work you need to restart the computer, then the code are stuck in the GPU. After restart you delete the work and click again  "On Idle" to restart a new work. Works every time for me.
you find the works in this folder "your drive":\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\work\"work number".
this is something that could happen with AMD GPU's. Standford know about this error.
3: If you get a RED GPU that are "Fail" the you need to do the "On Idle" and restart and change BIOS settings PCIe type to gen2.
4: Your GPU's need to have original BIOS, no changes!
5: To setup a stable system you need the same numbers of CPU compared to GPU's, 4 GPU's ea 4 GPU's!!!!!!!!!
6: To make a number of minimal numbers of STAL's you need to change the motherboard PCI'e type to Gen2, change it in the motherboard BIOS.
7: Please use AMD drivers version 14.4 (People say it produces more points) (of coarse if you have AMD cards like 280x).
8: Put the folding power to FULL in the FAHControl software.
9: Check you indentity! It's case sensitive.
Use the same on the folding pool: www.cryptobullionpools.com
There are only ONE pool to use when you are folding, ASICS have the usual pools......working side by side, no competititon!
The homepage stats are lagging, not much usable info on that page except for you latest ranging in payout.
And your settings about payout adress etc...
It's not like a ordinary Scrypt pool page.
10: Check that you are folding with team 224497.
11: Power consumtion compared to Scrypt are less then 50% Smiley -> lower noise and heat -> longer lifetime of the GPU!

Smiley Curecoin are COOL and HEALTHY Smiley

I have 24*280x GPU's and they are producing around 3500000 points every day now!
    My stats: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=656893
On every computer I have default workers that are made when I install the folding software, 4 GPU's and 1 CPU, no changes!!!!
I have USB3.0 raiser cables on every GPU.
My TPF's are 6 to 9 minutes. And they are all ok.
When I did have 2 CPU's on 4 GPU's I only did have problems, now when I have 4CPU's on 4 GPU's all works fine! Smiley

Ummm...

1: You might have to wait until 2 or 3% completion (according to the log tab, not the status tab) which could take 1/2 hour or more.

2: DO NOT DELETE THE WORK. CHECK THE LOG TO SEE WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON. Most of the time this is from an unstable overclock / display driver crash and the worker actually stopped long before this...at some % lower than 99. I have had this happen and found that trying to pause and restart the work BEFORE fixing your OC and rebooting will cause the WU to become corrupt and get deleted anyway, forcing you to start a new one from scratch (and missing out on even more QRB points). If you want to continue from where it failed, then pause it, fix your OC, reboot the PC, and then try to start it. Hopefully you will get a 'checkpoint found' and go from there. Also, setting to 'on idle' won't do anything if it's not the GPU running your monitor. Better just to actually set to 'Pause' if you want to pause.

3: I know nothing about this situation so can't comment on it.

4: Your GPU does not need to have the original BIOS. Both of my 270s are using a modified BIOS and work fine. Just make sure the new BIOS and/or OC does not cause them to become unstable. Having a modded BIOS COULD cause a problem but it is entirely possible to use one without problems.

5: I suggest having one extra core free as well. In my case with 2 GPUs I need 3 cores free for max performance. However, I did that testing on 13.12 drivers. Seems that might not be the case anymore with 14.4 so I could be totally wrong and you only need 1 per GPU now. I might re-test this again after.

6: Again I don't know so can't comment.

7: Completely agree and can confirm 14.4 drivers are superior. I got an ~25% increase in PPD by going from 13.12 to 14.4

8: Agree...unless it causes your system to freeze up and become unusable, but this shouldn't happen unless you screw with the priority in task manager or something (Or it's trying to use too many CPU cores: See point #5). Even if it does, if you don't need to use your system for normal stuff, and it's just a rig that sits in a corner folding away anyway, then whatever. If it's a computer you also use such as for gaming and what not, you can leave it on full, and check 'on idle' for your CPU, and the GPU which runs your monitor, and it will only fold when you're not using it.

9, 10, 11: Agreed.

This is mandatory points 1,2,3,5,6

See above especially regarding point #2

When you have your updated TPF's you can calculate your PPD on this page:
      http://www.linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php

You only get your PPD registered when a work is done and uploaded.
Yes your PPD's for the works you delete are gone in space!
My experience is that payout is lagging 48h, wait and you get your coins! No problemas!!!
I have started 3 users and there are newer a problem with the payout.

I have 6 million points and 2 curecoins

is that correct?

Maybe.  If you put a massive amount of power on folding in the last day or so, it's quite possible that all that got recorded for the daily snapshot was enough points to earn you 2 coins.  You'll make up the difference in the next payout, since it does a delta between "today" and "yesterday" to figure out your daily points.

That's all assuming that you're folding for the right team (224497) with all your rigs/bots, and that the username you used on CryptoBullion matches what you use to fold.

i'm only mining on my PC. it looks like i have earnt 6 million in total

Thank you for the very informative reply. So you still need the password to do transactions, but your wallet is not encrypted? So does this mean if someone were to acquire my wallet.dat file that they can empty it without having the password?

EDIT: Also, how do you know when you've "solved the puzzle"? Will the wallet client tell you?

You'll get a transaction notification, it'll show in your transactions as "PoS mined", with the crossed picks symbol, and you'll see an amount in the "staked" area, subtracted from your normal balance, until the stake is confirmed, then the coins reserved for stake and the newly minted coins will go back to your main balance.

Unlocked does not mean unencrypted.  You can unlock your local wallet for PoS minting, but it's only unlocked on that machine while the QT (wallet client) is running and only for the time period you specify (that 99999999 is a value in seconds).  But if somebody else had a copy of your wallet.dat it would still be encrypted (assuming you encrypted it in the first place).

That said, the extremely un-lucrative nature of PoS minting for most coins means it's usually not worth too much anxiety if you fear for your wallet's safety. Smiley

Thanks! As long as the wallet's still encrypted then, nope, don't fear for it's safety....at least until quantum computers are a thing...but if they were they could just do all the folding and be done with it, and the coin would be worthless after that anyway Smiley
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN CureCoin is launched 5/10/2014 on: May 17, 2014, 12:08:33 AM
same as PPCoin:)
_______________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________
What is minting, exactly?
All coins in the network collect coin age. Your stake is calculated from this coin age, measured by last transaction, and multiplied with the amount of coins (time * coins). Transferred coins lose their age and start a new "life" as fresh coins. When you keep coins for 30 days, they are old enough to start the minting process. From that moment on the software tests the "search space" given by the coin age, the limited options are tested if they "solve the puzzle" like in Bitcoin mining. You can simply think of this by comparing it with a raffle. But it is a raffle that lets you keep the tickets every time you do not win a round. And with it the chance of producing a valid solution of the next puzzle increases. More coins equal more raffle tickets. So 100 coins at an age of 30 days are twice as likely to solve the "puzzle" as 50 coins with 30 age days. The maximum age a coin can have is 90 days, after this the coin does not age further. When a puzzle is solved you can mint 1% of your input, by sending 101% of the coin to yourself. With it you "consume" your built-up coin age. As you test against a limited number of raffle tickets (the "limited search space"), this requires significantly less power. Attacks become more difficult as well, instead of controlling 51% calculating power to take over the block chain, you need 51% of the coins that are put up as stake! When a block is minted, your new coins will be unspendable for a period of 520 blocks (~ 3.6 days with 10 minutes blocks). **More information can be found in the Peercoin whitepaper.**

Minting Return
Statistically you will get 1% interest on average on your coins per year if you mint. You only mint when your wallet is open, but as the resources use is a lot lower this will not lock up the computer or waste much power. Your wallet is unlocked, but you will still need your passphrase for transactions. An alternative strategy would be to wait until you have a lot of coin age and have a larger chance of minting a block. This would be around 90 days after transaction. However your return will be a little less compared with constant minting. Future wallet version will support in-wallet minting, possibly without decrypting.

The Curecoin-QT wallet software takes care of this whole process automatically, but it needs some configuration before it can start.
#In console, type this - walletpassphrase <yourpasswordhere> 99999999 true -hit enter.Give it a minute or so for the wallet to unlock.Good to go.
