touche!  prices on the list are late for 30 minutes vs actual rates, that's why but it gives correct overall picture anyway What that site shows me is there are countless pump and dumps I didn't even know about, and all the older established coins are down. There is zero actionable information with that site, you would be better served by playing roulette and betting on everything. It shows me that any liquidity is chasing scams right now, and now is the time to invest in coins with future potential. Most people are holding waiting for bottom, and what little money there is moving freely is only into pump and dumps. |

From what I heard Alty is on vacation but will be back soon, "main dev" has been getting some flying time in his helicopter while still coding hard, and the OneMarket dev is still coding but will be temporarily tied up, but the team is still pressing on with deliverables... I guess the simple explanation is "it's August". Always slow in august, people have vacations and summer stuff...
Anyway, hope it dumps down some more, it will be in my price range to buy some more, but then I have to wonder if it is possible to push it back up if all the deep pockets are abandoning ship. :confused:

It'll be funny to watch you blather about "true innovation" when Darkcoin goes open source and captures the vast majority of the anonymity market. Try explaining what makes the coin anonymous to those who couldn't care less ( basically everyone outside of programmers and cryptographers).

Unless you're on a very entry-level VPS and the daemon is being killed by the host OS' oomkiller this is incorrect. The daemon is reasonably robust and does not just crash and corrupt the blockchain. The issue with sync speed is because catch-up is done on an absolute consensus basis - it requires blocks to be received and confirmed from all peers to ensure that those peers are whitelisted (peers that fail to meet this consensus or serve bad blocks that do not verify are dropped and graylisted). This makes it an incredibly robust consensus network, but it also means catch-up is slow and chunky. Bitcoin's catch-up mechanism is based on the longest chain rule - pull blocks from only 1 peer that has the longest chain. The upside is that you'll eventually figure out which peer is honest, as the one that is feeding you bad blocks will eventually be dropped from your peer group when you reach the point where their PoW fails to verify. The downside is that you'll potentially go through huge blockchain reorganisations during this process. We are trying to play with a middle ground that is faster than our "absolute consensus" right now, but also reduces the amount of reorgs needed to catch-up. I wouldn't say Monero is impossible to use. Download the blockchain from the Bitcointalk OP (which is never more than 8 hours behind), start the daemon, and then use simplewallet to create and transact with your wallet. When a new wallet is created you're given a 24 word seed that you can write down and store somewhere - that's all you need to backup your wallet. No more "just backup your wallet.dat" nonsense:) ive been mining monero with my farm for 3 weeks, it is impossible to use. Today bitmonerd crashed, corrupted the blockchain, i downloaded a blockchain 19 days old, 4 hours to sync on a 10mps connection. my quad core is flatlined while im trying to sync, i have to set firefox to high priority just so its somewhat usuable, 2.6gb of ram lost to updating. drkcoin, open, sync transfer in 2 min tops. |

Not necessarily, it weeds out the negative nancies... I don't think you can differentiate between people who selected nothing because they wont use the service and people who selected nothing because they are cheap bastards. Maybe the question should have been "What do you think is a fair price?" Although in this day and age perhaps there is a greater sense of entitlement than at any other moment in history, so maybe the result wouldn't change too much. we should put I would use this service and pay zero I would not use this service |

masternode operators should just pay for servers and bandwidth out of their pocket, then give you a service for free? We are already been paid in DRK 20%, if this increase the price of DRK it may be enough (imagine 1DRK @100$) and for the moment we have more or less one payment every 2 days... We must find a maner that the people that want use it need DRK... We are being paid for mixing coins, more services require more payment. Or are you one of those people who think their should be caps on how much others are allowed to make. If there is the possibility im going to have illegal activity run though my node don't you think I should be compensated more than someone who just mixes coin? |

Thats one thing i was wondering about... people shutting down master nodes and selling their DRK. I would assume that people running master nodes are believers and in it for long term. I am thinking about setting up a master node soon actually.
Does anyone know where to look to find the total number of master nodes running??

I believe in Darkcoin, I believe in the work behind it and the development thats gone into it. So is this more than greed? An intentional attack immediately after rc4 comes out? |
