Altcoins eat a lot of price too, since alts are mostly purchased with bitcoin and not fiat. And they all or almost all of them serve the same purpose. So if the demand for alts would return to bitcoin it might change some things here... but I would think it's the other way around most likely...

The thing is that some people still rent them. While there is a demand there would also be a supply. And some people rent a miner for a POW period of the coin that they believe in. In this case they don't need a miner long term and they ''need'' it more than the owner during that special period

If a guy said no in this situation it is most likely not because he would not want to do it, but because such things don't happen normally and if you are confronted with a situation that is ''unbelievable'' you just know there's something wrong here and better to not get involved
