I'm definitely liking the use of an animal/insect. The scorpion would be badass. I'm not too big of a fan of the D logo. Looks too much like copying Dash.
The idea I had was to use the scorpion for Silk, use a thunderbird/phoenix for DarkSilk because of the burning/transformation. To go way over the top we could use also a double headed eagle for the Weaver holding both Silk & DarkSilk.   |

To get back at the logo's / imagery. Maybe it's good to have something that is easily reproduced in different forms. Like: Concentrating on an aspect of an object    Or using polygons     Maybe combining the two. Silk and Polygons seem to be paradoxical! Polygons are in complete opposition with the smoothness of Silk, but if you think Silk as the fabric of time/space or code it's all vector i.e. polygons. While focusing on a specific part keeps things simple and distinguished. |

yes the scorpion and phoneix are the logos for silk and darksilk. although couldn't figure out which is for which. currently some good stuff in here. more then one idea is obviously needed for different aspects of marketing.

With the idea being to surf the line between a completely open forum, and avoiding the discussion falling into trivialities and bullshit, as it has too often before... Might we want to have one of those "community moderated" threads? Just throwing it out here..
A lot of people are anxious about any kind of moderation, nonetheless I think it's a good idea. Sure trivialities like fud will pass away but why tolerate it in the first place? I do think there needs to be some kind of restriction being placed on moderators to prevent power-trips. |

In my opinion a symbol is best suited having a symbolic meaning.
By using symbols and withholding the use of words you can stack multiple layers of meaning on one 'object'.
Words make explicit, while symbols imply and capture imagination.
