Just so people are aware the domains for DarkSilk and the DarkSilk Foundation have been purchased, along with hosting for the next 2 years.
Total cost of hosting and domains for that period totalled $76 (not a bad price at all).
The reason for me not just informing you guys of the purchase but also the amount is because I will be listing all the outgoings for development of DarkSilk.
The next purchase will be the servers for the IPv6/I2P/Tor seednodes and initial Stormnode(s). Costing for these will be listed.
Preliminary checks indicate ~$600 for 9 VPS per year (3 Tor, 3 I2P, 3 ClearNet).

Long term plan:
Relaunch Silkcoin using the same codebase as DarkSilk but on ClearNet, no Stormnodes/Masternodes, no SandStorm/DarkSend, no InstantX and no decentralised marketplace.
Complete swap from old Silkcoin to new.
New Silkcoin will be able to be used with the Weaver to swap for DarkSilk the same as the old Silkcoin.
Yes i think ultimatley swapping all silkcoin for drkslk in the long term is a good idea. I think the consensus is that Silkcoin won't actually be ever completely swapped for DarkSilk as PoS will continue and also new systems and services will come available for Silkcoin. Saying that, what are peoples thoughts? Binary-Coin-System is the way to go. It creates a unique oppertunity for Silk next to DarkSilk to store and hold value. It's price will be safeguarded by DarkSilk through the weaver, but still it has infinite room for upwards speculation. On the otherhand DarkSilk will end up being the coin of use and drive the price upwards through proven intrinsic value i.e. its usability. Users will prefer DarkSilk Investors willl prefer Silk The coins will automatically converge into these roles by this setup. It is very exciting to see them seperated in the Silk project. To swap all, or to do away with Silk will destroy this oppertunity. In my opinion it would be best not to introduce any services to Silk at all, leave it as bare and clean as possible. With all the bells and whistles going to DarkSilk. Silk could be the shinging white, dare i say "innocent" coin that stores value for investors in the brand Silk like any other commodity. edit: Ideally in my eyes DarkSilk should have a restricted increase of supply, much like a flat rate. This would provide a linear increase. While Silk could have compound interest, slight exponential increase. The two intersection points would create a nice area for swapping, just an idea If people want to use drkslk why wouldnt they just buy drkslk? Why buy silk and convert to drkslk?

Unless they are a holder of Silkcoin already... or Silkcoin and DarkSilk purposefully do not share merchants and services so that there is more of a need to swap between currencies/assets... or Weaver runs for a limited period as a swap system for Silkcoin and then evolves to an exchange between more reputable cryptographic currencies... or something else I cannot think of right now... :p EDIT: Weaver could also run in conjunction with the Cystum multipool, to provide the swap system for the coins miners select to be paid in for their mining efforts.

Just messaged Vultr to increase our max limit of servers. Only letting me have 5 atm. Total cost of servers are $16 each per month. Will be 9 total once Vultr get back to me. $144 a month/$1,728 per year.

The last three nodes will be Europe, America, Asia i.e. Paris/New York/Japan but currently I have been limited to 6 nodes. I am in contact with support again.

Anyone testing the wallet please download the source and rebuild.
Make sure to delete all the data in the hidden .darksilk folder.

In this example the Scorpion really fits DarkSilk that is buried deep within. Same for the burning of Silk as a rising Phoenix increasing its price. Or the conquering eagle for the Weaver to bring in other reputable cryptographic currencies!

Seems to me we want to reproduce the same old system
Gold -> our beloved SILK
Currency -> new DRKSLK
Am I correct?
Is this a way to have DRKSLK backed by the old one?
Otherwise I don't see the point of this.

More the other way around. What I wrote is indeed a reproduction with cryptotechnology. But the way the model is set up means that DarkSilk hides behind a facade which is Silk; a clean currency backed by the use cases of DarkSilk which only operates within the communities network. I see no problem with the same old system other then obscurity of centralized control and transparency of local ownership. Better to have transparent decentralized control and obscured local ownerhip. That, in my eyes, would be a big leap. Not despite of the similarities but because of them. I like where you're going with this. So for this to work you would not be able to buy drkslk on an exchange, is that right?
