361  Other / Meta / Re: Bunch of idiots/bots spamming the hell out of press board on: February 07, 2016, 02:45:52 AM
I think there needs to be a CAPTCHA put in place to prevent this kind of spamming Recaptcha V2 (clicking the pictures) is a challenging bot check feature. although if the programmer is skilled enough, he could at the very least partially automate the spamming of this forum. IP bans are useless due to proxies/Tor.

It's great idea, but I don't know how much I could find my teachers open for this..sometimes people don't like to accept new..bitcoin is great
I apologize if English is not your first language, but it seems to me you're just replying to up your post count. Please stay on topic.
363  Other / Meta / Re: theymos is gonna kill me! on: February 07, 2016, 01:26:14 AM
Wow, this made my day. I am recovering in hospital and this exchange is quite comical. Can't wait to see what happens to the scammer.

On a more serious note, when I'm discharged, I will continuing a CakePHP application ruling out any possibility of this happening. It's going to have borrower default insurance. I've already found a BCT member to partner up with me to put up the site.
364  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why does paypal considered as scam attempt? on: February 07, 2016, 01:18:58 AM
I find it very odd...

Why and how are people using Paypal then? I mean if you can reverse any payment just by filling a complaint about wrongly used card, I can go directly buy a new HD tv no?

There should be other elements I'm missing I guess, otherwise Paypal isn't a reliable way of transferring money.
PayPal is afraid of Bitcoin and the blockchain technology. That's why PayPal always rules in favor of the buyer/scammer. Charge backs are a necessity sometimes. If you're dealing with a shady business it's best to use PayPal or a credit card. Bitcoin doesn't have charge back because of the many scammers out there. The more options there the better.
365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: February 07, 2016, 01:08:47 AM
Bitcoin is doing much better as a currency, so yeah I'm holding/saving my Bitcoins at least until halving. I predict the price will dramatically increase at halving, and everyone holding right now will be better off. Now is a good time to invest fiat into.
366  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: need $5 btc have paypal on: February 06, 2016, 11:19:43 PM
I have 2.25 BTC, Take it?
You do realize that's worth way more than $5 USD, right?

II just wanted to start a discussion about how Bitcoiners' experience in college was. I plan on going back to a local community college in suburban Vancouver. The last time I took computer science courses, I had to take one extremely boring "Intro to Computers" course. I "learned" pretty much everyone on this forum already knows. The other course "Intro to VB.NET was a bit harder. I did not like the instructor. I could nor understand what he was saying half the time (he's an Asian immigrant, and did not speak English a university level. To make matters worse, he chastized me for asking a question as to why my program was working. It really is too bad. Teachers should teach their students and not mock their coding abiiloities. My grandparents didn't start a college fund to be criticized about how bad of a coder I am.

Did you ever have a teacher or professor you didn't like? Did your grades suffer as a result? What would you do in the future if you had the misfortune of having what I call a "narcissist coder" as a Prof?
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be profitable in the long run! It is possible! on: February 06, 2016, 11:04:53 PM
LOL! OP created an entire thread trying to rebuke my position that gambling just ends you broke. OP must work for a casino or something. Either that or they are hopelessly addicted to gambling. Oh well, I guess they're addicts everywhere. How much money do you borrow from you friends to make those millions, OP?
369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] How to rank up your account without spamming. on: February 06, 2016, 10:58:50 PM
Very good summary.

This is the best point. Unfortunately, most users not care about real controversation.
Quote
2) Be controversial. Say you opinion and speak your mind about the topic at hand. This will result in possibly heated debates that can get you really enticed in the conversation. You may even forget you're being paid to post on this forum.
Unfortunately, this is true. Some people just don't care about conversation and just spam. I would suggest to those people to get a real job out in the real world. It's a long process before your account is high enough in rankings to make decent money (unless you purchase an account).
I know one person here who are spamming in every thread, and trolling users with stupid answers and questions. Making new Post with stupid non-crypta themes or posting pictures. Some times all page is full of only her posts! And what we can do with such users? nothing  Embarrassed
Use the report to moderator feature, lower right corner of the post  Roll Eyes
Yes I know about this features, I do it only when it is critical. But what it will change? What kind of punishment they will receive?
Well for one, their post will be deleted(if it breaks any of the rules) and if they continue doing it, either a (3-60 days) temporary ban will be given or they will be nuked(all of their posts deleted+permaban) or they will be permabanned
Permabanning them won't always work. Install Tor and a create new account and they're back in the sig spamming business.
370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: February 06, 2016, 10:46:01 PM
From what I remember, Blockchsain.info has weak security and can be hacked. I use Blockchain on my Tab but I don't leave money in it. For the longest time I've been using Bitcoin Core. It's more secure than Blockchain. Yes it's slower and you have to pay for it but it is more secure.
371  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Which wallet are you using? on: February 06, 2016, 09:04:29 PM
I was just curious as to what wallets people use and how they keep their coins safe. I use Blockchain.info on my tablet. I don't keep my savings in that wallet due to security issues. On my PC and my Max I use Bitcoin Core. You may have to wait for blockchain to sync but it's way more secure. What are your preferences?

Allow me to edit my OP and clarify what I meant.
373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Drugs fuck you up, man on: February 06, 2016, 08:48:49 PM
....

But making the sell of drugs legal and nationalize it yeah! More money for the government and a good control on quality and help for those who needs it! =)

Yeah, that's a great idea.  Do something because it gives more money to the government...

No, what is a great idea is to take the money currently financing mafia terrorism and crime in general and to send it to the government.

I know you don't like centralized government but I hope you also believe it's still better to have government taking the money than the mafia no?
It's not doing it to give government money, but rather take advantage of the situation and take the occasion to redirect the money from crime to government that's all.
I agree with you that government profiting off of drugs is better than gangs, but how is centralized government a good thing?
374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] How to rank up your account without spamming. on: February 06, 2016, 08:39:35 PM
You are right, i have also seen many users doing the same for a higher rank, posting in threads without knowing anything about the topic and starting new threads with meaningless questions, just to increasing their post count or activity count.
It's definitely an issue this board has.. I started a thread in the Meta discussion section about this issue. Postloop has a rep system that helps prevent spamming. I think that something like that should be implemented here, but so far not everyone can agree with a solution.
375  Other / Beginners & Help / [Guide] How to rank up your account without spamming. on: February 06, 2016, 06:54:33 PM
Unfortunately, it is a sad truth that there are a lot of users of this forum out there who shit-post and write one line replies or make a reply that has nothing to do with the conversation. This post is for those who want to make money from sig campaigns and have people not  be annoyed with you. If you post a sick tutorial or have something brilliant to say, you may even get tipped in addition to your campaign revenue.

1) Read enough of t hread before commenting. Many people will quickly glance through a thread and write a reply that has little contribution to with the topic on hand. If you get no replies, your post is probably meaningless.

2) Be controversial. Say you opinion and speak your mind about the topic at hand. This will result in possibly heated debates that can get you really enticed in the conversation. You may even forget you're being paid to post on this forum.

3) Write write write. As a general rule of thumb, new threads should be a few paragraphs long and replies should have at least four sentences. Short replies posted just to be paid is spamming.

There are my suggestions.  I followed these rules and haven't been banned for spamming or removed from my campaign. If you're one of those people who don't give a shit, you may end up banned.
376  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Android Wallet recommendations on: February 06, 2016, 06:39:54 PM
I have the blockchain.info wallet on my tab. So far, I haven't had a problem on a mobile platform but I would not recommend it for using it for long-term storage, as the wallet could be hacked.. Bircoin core for Android is an excellent wallet as well.
377  Other / Meta / Re: My proposal to reduce signature campaign spamming on: February 06, 2016, 06:32:18 PM

[Implement a reputation/thanks system (different than trust) with rewards for high ranking members

No.

The idea of a rep system still I don't think is a bad idea. If a spammer with negetive rep tries to join a campaign, they would be denied the privilege of joining the campaign. I do like the idea of campaign managers doing their jobs and delisting users who spam. The staff would be able to quickly identify the spammers. In addition. most ofther forums have a thanks/like button. Everyone can determine the credibility of the poster.
378  Other / Meta / My proposal to reduce signature campaign spamming on: February 04, 2016, 09:56:22 PM
As a lot of you are aware, there is a ton of spam on this forum consisting of one-liner posts and/or nonsense topics being posted all for the sole purpose of boosting profits for the mentioned poster. To make matters worse, people are coding bots with poor-to-moderate AI making automated replies or posting new topics. To curve this problem, I suggest the board's staff implement the following:

  • Implement a reputation/thanks system (different than trust) with rewards for high ranking members
  • Disallow eveyone under "Full Member" from joining a campaign.
  • Automatically ban users with too much negative rep
  • Ban campaigns that are poorly managed

Having both a trust and a reputation/thanks system will give us a better picture as to who is spamming campaigns and who isn't. A rep system will allow the staff to get a quick glance who is contributing to the forum and who isn't. Other forums, such as BHW have done this and the spammy/meaningless replies/posts are minimized. These are my suggestions. Comments?
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is their any safe methods to gamble? on: January 29, 2016, 06:36:40 PM
There is no safe way to gamble, Gambling always involves luck, and the odds are always against you.
380  Economy / Economics / Re: Big Crash coming on: January 29, 2016, 01:12:37 AM
I don't think there is going to be an economic crisis. The price of oil may have dropped but that may not mean the world is going to end. I think Bitcoin hold some value of money, but the world is definitely not going to end.

Some people see the very low oil price as an indicator for the world economy, and thus think there will be a global market crash. It has happened before and it will climb back up as soon as all the hot air/speculation in the market has vanished. I still think there is a possibly 20% decrease that we will go through when it comes to stocks. I think oil may go down a little more but it has nearly reached its floor.
I'm not saying the world will end completely, just that the economy will suffer a bit.
