361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 06, 2015, 08:06:04 PM
What an Einstein man! Of course I'm short in XMR, but not with a few tens of BTC, rather more. And like me, there are lots lots of big traders of the circle with the same position.

You never know. What if he speaks the truth?

What could be more juicy a situation than this though? Shorting against a rich community? If you want a tougher challenge still, consider shorting CKG!

Aside from being stupid, shorting CKG is more difficult in practice because it would need to be an OTC arrangement. CKG does not yet trade on an exchange that allows short sales.

If you are in Monero for the long run there is no need to worry about the short sellers. Unless of course you buy on margin. Then you should worry or maybe read the Americanpegasus post on the subject on Reddit.

IMHO the most important thing happening with boolberry right now is the DB testing which you can see (and test) for yourself here:
https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/tree/db

The last commit was authored 6 days ago:
https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/commit/7a1f1016570937c5a8197c6d987c95f05bd0582c

I had not noticed the recent commit. Nice!

Actually, DASH is a great coin

What do you think is great about it? Coinjoin mixing controlled by the masternode, the instamine and supply reduction, miners being forced to subsidize masternode owners or the name it copied from an existing coin?

Can anyone join this game or not? I am already playing the game Bitcointalk vs Unknown GM.

I hate losing chess games. It appears that the bitcointalk team (which dre1982 and I are part of) is likely to lose the game below. Come on Team Boolberry! Lets focus hard and try to do better in this game!

Your move bitcointalk. You have the white pieces
The current position is updated below:

Low liquidity does not lend itself to mass accumulation.

It would be great for someone to volunteer to become a market maker on the different exchanges. They could narrow the bid/ask spread and increase liquidity on both the buy and sell sides.

Increased volume would have the potential to compensate for narrower margins between the bid and ask.

That knight's getting up to no good. We should trade it off with 23. Nxd7.

I will vote Nxd7 too because I can't see anything better. Its too bad because our knight on e5 seemed well positioned to both attack and defend. It is just hard to find a better option. Our d3 pawn remains a target and our bishop on g2 is not doing much to help.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero vs Boolberry Chess Challenge and CryptoNote technical discussion on: October 06, 2015, 10:32:53 AM
My suggestion here is also Nc6. White has the play his queen and after that we can develop one of our other pieces.

I like your plan. By forcing white to move his queen now he may put in on a square that interferes with the normal development of one of his minor pieces.

Yes anyone can join. Pick a team and discussion of CryptoNote technology is welcome along with the game play.

Ok nice. Which team has the less players? Will join that team.

Boolberry has fewer players. Welcome to the game and discussion!

So far both teams are playing the same as this game:

Crosspost because relevant. I'll not clutter the chess game any further :-P

This change adds the ability to create a new unsigned transaction from a watch only wallet, and save it to a file. This file can then be moved to another computer/VM where a cold wallet may load it, sign it, and save it. That cold wallet does not need to have a blockchain nor daemon. The signed transaction file can then be moved back to the watch only wallet, which can load it and send it to the daemon.

Two new simplewallet commands to use it:
sign_transfer (on the cold wallet)
submit_transfer (on the watch only wallet)

The transfer command used on a watch only wallet now writes an unsigned transaction set in a file called 'unsigned_monero_tx' instead of submitting the tx to the daemon as a normal wallet does. The signed tx file is called 'signed_monero_tx'.

Definitely relevant and good news.

Looks like DASH has given up trolling the competition and has resorted to trolling itself and insulting people they hope to attract:

I've heard autistic people have trouble getting jokes. Is it true?

Is this the DASH community joke that you are referring to? Ironic that you call others autistic for not understanding jokes. You seem to think this type of joke about people you want DASH to appeal to is appropriate.

You can say that the Reputation crowdsale that is now over for what is being called the world’s first decentralized, prediction market – Augur, has been quite successful with over 5 million USD equivalent in Ethereum and Bitcoin collected from 4550 users. The “distributed oracle” application uses Ethereum’s network and is just one of the many Decentralized Applications (DAPPs) that are currently being developed.

http://cryptomining-blog.com/6095-augurs-reputation-crowdsale-finishes-with-over-5-million-usd/

I read somewhere that they cared as much about how many people (oracles) signed up as the amount of money they raised.

The crowdsale numbers will require substantial volume on the platform to justify the valuation. It would be interesting to here more about the pros and cons of Augur vs Truthcoin

GEMINI is LIVE
You can now fund your acct for the 1st day of trading on Thursday 10.08.2015 @ 09:30 AM EDT

The conclusion is obvious.

I think you are right, they are obviously Dash fans

How can DASH complain about trolls when you are trolling your own thread with Photoshopped pics of people you wish would support DASH along with fake quotes about future exchange additions?

If that is not enough you proceed to insult the people you are trying to attract? The biggest DASH trolls are part of the DASH community. lol

376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Monero replace Bitcoin soon? on: October 05, 2015, 09:11:44 PM
It is possible but not because of fungibility / privacy. It is very possible because of adaptive blocksize limits and a tail emission that addresses the issue of developing a fee market after the block subsidy ends. The latter is the elephant in the room that very few people in the Bitcoin community are even talking about yet lies at the heart of the blocksize debate.

I have seen you make this argument before and I agree adaptive blocksize limits are important.  I am curious why you feel it is MORE important that the fungibility issue

Thanks for your reply. I thought that it is in the responsibility of the particular community but there is no discussion about Supernet on Boolberry at the moment. Hope this will change soon.

Well, my question from two weeks ago is still open. Anyone who could answer it, please? Thanks!

As a big Boolberry holder, I am wondering if Boolberry will still be a part of SuperNET since I did not read anything on the last SuperNET newsletters?

It's still part of SuperNET yes. It's up to the community to continue to support it and make it more prominent if they wish. I think BBR will be becoming more active again soon, but that's just my personal opinion.

Also, I believe James as been continuing to upgrade the privacy related SuperNET tech and he's been testing some new innovations in that area. So other than the obvious BBR being an on ramp to using anonymity with SuperNET, anything other than that will still have to made more clear as the systems get more finalized.

Please provide an update in this Boolberry thread when available:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1198276.msg12610814#msg12610814

There are a lot of people curious about how BBR will be used. CryptoZoidberg completed the SuperNET integration work on the BBR side a long time ago
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry Speculation on: October 05, 2015, 08:59:03 PM
in my opinion, Boolberry will show it's strength as soon as SuperNET will be released. all the core currencies will see a price jump including BBR.

Three questions

1. When do you think SuperNET will be released?

2. What role would you like to see Boolberry perform within SuperNET?

3. Do you think the SuperNET team has the same vision as you for #2?

I believe that CryptoNote is best in class in terms of financial privacy available today. Boolberry is arguably one of the most advanced CryptoNote coins. SuperNET would be wise to integrate BBR as quickly as possible, building off the BBR side integration work cryptozoidberg has already written:

https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/commit/14eba55b4a496f2f04f5ad33891fe9f172b7d3db

https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/commit/28995ed64f844891c11a14e268550797e4cd5e08
https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/commit/efa3e9fa03ad6427fee335b4f466ab45ef079c7f
https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/commit/d99dc8018f955989a76e43af0b62424a4e84767b
https://github.com/cryptozoidberg/boolberry/commit/d188d7a053e6124d0006eebeddafcff332b79cb1

Boolberry development will continue and BBR can be highly successful regardless of the role it is ultimately chosen to take within SuperNET

You guys also followed the final of the World cup? What a final was that. Svidler was  so close a few time but let it slipped out of his hands.

Shocking 3rd game for sure. No major blunders in the 4th game. Big surprise to see him lose after being up 2 to 0.

Ne5 is my vote
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry Speculation on: October 04, 2015, 03:04:24 PM
It might be useful to make a graph comparing BBR emission to other CryptoNote coins instead of the graph showing how the emission speed compared to bitcoin.

Hopefully this will help:
Both Boolberry and Monero have a max supply of about 18.4 million (18446744.073709551615)
Boolberry block times are 120 seconds vs 60 seconds for Monero
The bolded blue below will show that Boolberry emission is twice as slow as Monero.
Monero emission is slower that Duck/Dark/DigitalNote. I can provide additional graphs to compare with other CryptoNote coins if requested.

Boolberry:
base_reward=(EMISSION_SUPPLY - already_generated_coins) >> EMISSION_CURVE_CHARACTER;
if(block_cumulative_size <= median)
  reward = base_reward;
else
  reward = (base_reward*(block_cumulative_size * (2 * median - block_cumulative_size)))/(median2)

Reward Emissions for 10 years:
