Hey Redacted thanks for working hard & getting jupiter up & running.

Note on Jupiter blow-up issues  : NOT to plug / unplug your miner power cables while it is powered up or it will surge the boards and kill them.

That's the intention.   Have to pick up a spare router on the way home - they've made it somewhat difficult to SSH into the box because the default gateway is set to something other than what my network uses, and that's the only way into the box....

There is supposed to be another Jupiter here on Thursday.  The two machines for R5 and R6 should have arrived at the same time, but KNC seems to be having some shipping issues.

My intention - to keep things fair for everyone that bought into R5 and R6 is this:

Split the hashrate of the first box 50/50 between R5 and R6.
Split the hasrate of the second box that's supposed to arrive on Thursday 50/50 between R5 and R6.

I'll also split the hasrate of a third Jupiter between R5 and R6 for as many days as we were only hashing at 50%.  Assuming the boxes show up when they are supposed to, that would mean I'll be splitting the output of a Jupiter between R5 and R6 (and both GB's would be mining at 150% or 725 Gh/s) for three days - from Thursday through Sunday some time.

And if the boxes don't end up showing up in a timely manner and we hit a difficulty increase, I'll also split the output of a fourth Jupiter between the two GB's for a couple of days - so the GBs would be mining at 1.1 Th/s, or 200% of what everyone purchased for those days - to make up for the difficulty increase that took place...

What can I say , Just blown away by your preparedness  Grin

Yeah excited to have Miner's ready to hash as onslaught of difficulty is going to be a challenge.

Once the miners are running next step is to see how much can we overclock the Miners Smiley

370  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [FAILED]Butterfly Labs 30 day countdown to the end of September on: October 02, 2013, 07:04:55 AM
At the rate refunds are being forced on BFL there may not be huge backlogs left but BFL will still fail to ship even the tiny remaining units in time I guess, Josh & BFL could have handled the situation much better being humble & polite , I dont know who in their right mind is willing to place any more trust in BFL & place orders with them until unless being forced to go down that road.

I eagerly await for countdown thread to BFL filing bankruptcy.  Wink

371  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a PayPal refund for your BFL purchase? on: October 02, 2013, 06:46:51 AM
Was this from emailing the two addresses posted by OP?  Or did you get through to someone else to make this happen?

Yes write a e-mail to the 2 address posted in OP.

Try below e-mail template , some made it here & I used it to get refund within 12 hours of writing to paypal.

Hi,

I used PayPal to place a pre-order with Butterfly Labs on xx/xx/xx for $xxx.00.

This order has still not been filled.

I politely requested a refund on xx/xx/xx and was declined on xx/xx/xx.

I filed Dispute xxxxxxxxxxx.  This dispute was closed for being outside the 45-day window.

The seller has violated your terms of service which clearly state that the seller "Guarantees shipment within 20 days from the date of purchase".

The seller is continuing to accept pre-orders for a product that they can not ship within any reasonable amount of time. In fact, they do not even pretend to be honoring your 20-day limit.

I have been a PayPal customer for past few years.  While I realize that this payment is beyond the 45-day limit, I believe PayPal should honor my request for a refund as the seller is still using PayPal to receive pre-order payments in a manner that clearly violates your terms of service.

Many people may be harmed financially by this seller if PayPal doesn't step in.

Regards,
xxxxxxxx

You have answered the question in your post , more the later the delivery in october the worst chance of meeting ROI & hence selling the miner will start making more sense , just take a guess & think about expected delivery of Bitfury 2nd batch , KNC November batch , Avalon 2nd Gen , Hashfast , Fasthash , Cointera , BFL 1stgen & 2nd gen ASIC e.t.c , even if all the manufacturers dont delivers to their best , it will still be enough to keep pushing difficulty to moon , I dont need any rocket science to guess Hashing @ 500gh/s will be like pissing in the wind Wink

I'm thinking that people who jumped in when ASICS started (say early this year, just for arguments sake) are going to run out of money before hardware vendors can push the difficulty too high - will we hit billions, yes, but I still think it'll plateau and when it does, hardware should be available for shipment IMMEDIATELY (no more of this pre-order crap) and with any luck, the big money will be spent (on Gen1 and Gen2) and the really fast hardware will be available for a good price with lots of opportunity.  I'm probably wrong, but it's a nice thought.

OR

Companies will not be able to afford to keep operating on our pre-order money and they will go out of business.

I hope BFL Does go out of business  Grin   Tongue  Kiss

Even with higher than expected hashrate from KNC Jupiter & Saturn , ROI is not possible , hence people may want to sell it.

I'd have to disagree with this statement. Only people inexperienced with Mining Calculators, Difficulty to Hashrate Conversions, and a lack of knowledge on all current ASIC manufacturers and their estimated release dates claim that their unit will not make a profit above what they paid for it.

Personally my Day 1 Orders will likely pay for themselves in 2 months at the latest, but I expect sooner than that based on my predictions.

October 15th orders might have a more difficult time but will "ROI" as you say.

As an example I'd like you to tell me what you expect the difficulty to be in February 2013 based on your calculator and then tell me the corresponding hashrate that would have to be on the network to reach that difficulty.

KNC still have units for shipping in November and at 550+Gh per $5k, I think we should be seriously considering purchasing some.

Lab_Rat what are your thoughts on KNC they seem to really know what they are doing in my opinion.

Dude KNC has already started shipping from today , expect difficulty to go up like crazy. check Knc thread & KNC GB threads where people have got shipping updates from KNC.
