361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: October 02, 2017, 09:26:43 PM
Okay so I see a tweet saying they won, I see lots of people posting FUD about it being a small award that means nothing.

Could anyone clarify on what exactly was won and if that means they actually won the competition or if it's just a small award? Some sort of proof would be great, since all I can find is a tweet and lots of Reddit FUD.

Yes they did win an award from Clifford Chance. You can watch the Facebook video feed, it happens around the 1 hour and 2 minute mark.

For those who did not understand the challenge, pretty much IBM, Microsoft, Clifford Chance, etc. each gave out awards which grants them with a partnership with that company. Clifford Chance provided Digibyte a strategic partnership for legal issues as well as legal advice.

There is also a grand prize winner, who these companies (IBM, Microsoft, Clifford Chance, Mastercard, etc.) deem to be the best out of all the "Award Winners" and Digibyte did not win that, but it definitely is no small feat that they won an award from Clifford Chance. It shows that they are a more than capable company if one of the top legal firms believes in them.

And the price is all over the place because of this? Strategic partnerships are like... the best thing that could ever happen to digibyte or than being deemed a an overall "winner" of the contest and getting strategic partnerships as well.

This is amazing! Why all the FUD? Oh right, because this is cryptocurrency.Lol what was I thinking...

363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this Forum full of 'normal people' who over the years became filthy rich? on: October 02, 2017, 12:39:41 AM
I've never put that much money into bitcoin. I pretty much exclusively earn them and HODL. I'm doing really well considering those facts but I wouldn't say I'm rich by any means. I never really got into altcoins until recently, and even then I don't have too much invested, so I still don't have a huge stockpile. As long as you have true financial freedom I don't think the actual amount that you own really matters in the end.
364  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How to create a secure Bitcoin Vanity Paper Wallet on Ubuntu live USB & Windows on: October 01, 2017, 06:44:17 PM
Well I needed to revisit my own thread because I needed to make some more of these so thought  I might as well bump the thread while I'm here!!
365  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Gravitates Grand give away on: September 24, 2017, 09:02:26 PM
... you either must have done business with me before or prove you are not an alt account (id and proof of address or something).

Apart from that Good Luck Smiley

Could you clarify this rule? If I've never done business with you but I've also never badmouthed you. Am I eligible?

I'll post my number and if I'm not then I'll just delete it. No worries.

366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hands up.. robbery. on: September 24, 2017, 08:41:56 PM
Personally, I would never keep enough Bitcoin on me that if I got robbed it would affect me in any way. I'd be more annoyed that my phone was stolen than the cryptocurrencies on that phone. You need to keep your cold storage of the radar and your hot storage very limited. That's just the nature of cryptocurrencies. It's smarter to be cautious rather than sorry in the end if you lose thousands due to a simple robbery.

What in the world is going on with clams today? It looks like there was a giant spike in price in the last few hours!
368  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: ★★★ Spotify account Lifetime warranty for 3$ | AUTO BUY ★★★ on: September 16, 2017, 11:07:19 PM
Ok so I've tested this out for a few days. It's a shared account so there are a few people all on at the same time and you're at their mercy to not mess with what you have playing at any instance (which occasionally your music will stop/change because they pressed something else.). It is what it says, family plan and it does work though, although no promises on how long. Personally I'd rather pay $10/mo or just use the free version rather than a shared version. I find that it's not often that anyone else is not streaming at the same time as you.
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: My opinion why btc falls, others prosper. on: September 14, 2017, 12:01:04 AM
I agree that 'mainstream' people love their ETH. They don't know the problems with it but they'll invest thousands into it.

As for Bitcoin, it's actually finite (much unlike ETH) so it doesn't matter when you get into it, it will always grow in comparison to a currency that is constantly losing its buying power. Also, we're still generating BTC12.5 every 10 minutes or so and we're still seeing huge rises! We should be losing value every day not gaining it, yet here we are, up 500% this year. Everything will even out as less and less bitcoins are generated.

Everyone wishes they owned bitcoins in 2011. It's unrealistic because I had never even heard of them and wasn't about to do a Google search for 'decentralized online currency'. Don't worry about the past, because you can't change it. You're free to change the future however you'd like though.
370  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of bubble, recovery impossible. on: September 13, 2017, 11:46:25 PM
Forget about all the other times I was wrong. This time... this time it's for sure.  Cheesy

This should just be the OP.

Yes, we went up 500% and there was a correction after huge news in China. What did you expect? A rocket to the moon!? That's unrealistic.
371  Economy / Economics / Re: Someone from 2020 contacted me on: September 13, 2017, 11:37:58 PM
He must have come from January 2020 Wink I'm sure the prices would be much higher if he were in June or July of 2020.
372  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-09-13] Bitcoin should be valued at half of what it's worth today on: September 13, 2017, 11:35:54 PM
I love it. Keep the FUD coming. Yet somehow we keep hitting ATH after ATH. I don't agree with the article stating that the price had anything to do with old what'--his-face from some bank in America. I'm sure that made 0 difference, because, well, he's just ignorant and uneducated. He also said he would fire anyone in his company that invests in cryptocurrencies. He sounds like a cornered animal and he has chosen 'fight' rather than 'flight'. I wish him good luck!
373  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Your Review for POLONIEX.com? SCAM or LEGIT? on: September 12, 2017, 09:49:21 PM
I'm going to revise my answer a bit.

I hope I never need to call support. I had some Counterparty that was stuck pending withdrawal for a few days but it did eventually go through. I'm seeing a ton of people lately though that are waiting months to hear back. I would avoid them, at least for now, as it seems they really couldn't keep up with the industry growth.
374  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: ★★★ Spotify account Lifetime warranty for 3$ | AUTO BUY ★★★ on: September 12, 2017, 09:45:19 PM
Are these cracked? How are they obtained? I'd take a vouch copy assuming there's nothing illegal going on here.
375  Economy / Reputation / Re: [User Generated] - Known alts of anyone on: September 03, 2017, 01:15:30 AM
You guys are doing some professional work here! Well done.
Thought lately we haven't been active as much as we used to be. You can always try to find alts / cheaters yourself, it is often not difficult.

Especially once you have the tools of the trade down pat.

Go to any signature campaign and fly through the pages. Check the address posted or if you're going in depth check on https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info for all addresses posted, see which of those are actually theirs, then go to https://www.walletexplorer.com and assuming it's a personal wallet (not a gambling website, exchange, Web wallet) it's safe to say the addresses are all safe to check here for alts.

Good luck lol! Use the Google search function and the forum one for best results.

Don't forget to Archive.is everything you find.

378  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 29, 2017, 02:49:20 AM
I have always wanted to do a vanitygen for my cold storage, but I am too paranoid the program would have some sort of built in preset way to make an address the creator also has keys for. How am I supposed to know for sure? I just wish I could trust do it trust-less.
If you're totally paranoid: use split-key:
Instructions
I can just create an address, and send you the private key. This means you have to trust me, my computer, my cat, both our email clients, and by definition it can no longer be used for cold storage. So let's not. Instead, use split key:
Step 1: Goto https://www.bitaddress.org/ move your mouse/type in the field until it shows 100% and wait a second.
Step 1.5: Optional but highly recommended. Download the page, verify the download and run it locally*.
Step 2: Click Vanity Wallet click the Generate button next to Generate your "Step1 Key Pair"
Step 3: Reply to this thread with your public key and the prefix for your address. Save the private key somewhere safe. You will need it later when I generated your partial private key. Also, let me know if your preferred prefix is case sensitive, or any case is okay (the latter is much faster)
Step 4: Once you received your partial private key, go back to bitaddress.org and click on Vanity Wallet.
Step 5: Go to step 2 Calculate your vanity wallet. In the first field put the private key you saved and in the second field put the partial private key I gave you. Click Add and Calculate Vanity Wallet
Step 6: Copy the Vanity Private Key (WIF) and import it into your preferred wallet.
Credits to shorena for most of these instructions!
If something doesn't work as expected, have a look at this example.
In Step 3, you run vanitygen by yourself, and use your own publick key.

You can also use split key if you don't trust the computer that you use to run Vanitygen.

That's exactly what I do. I just use my normal computer but boot up a Linux Live USB to generate the one 'half' of the private key. Works perfectly! Although you can only do one at a time as OgNasty has pointed out in the past. For personal use it's not a huge deal though.

What is so special about split-key? Even that might still have some sort of malicious code.

I'm going to really dumb it down to the point that it isn't very accurate. If your partial private key is 0.....0001 and the next partial is X (your public key), what is X's private key? Who knows! Only you do! That's why it is a great secure option.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Cuban Backs $20 Million Dollar Cryptocurrency Venture on: August 25, 2017, 01:46:52 AM
ICOs are the "stocks" of the cryptocurrency world, IMHO. They'll have their own degree of thrift associated with them, and there will be both good and bad ones. I'm not sure why the SEC took the timid stance that it did other than that they are probably threatened by Bitcoin and thus have to take a weak stance on ICOs. Plus, it's questionable if they even have jurisdiction in many cases.

They have the exact same jurisdiction as the post office has against email haha. Whether they realize it and create laws around it are completely different though because this actually comes down to real money (vs. government printed funny money) and irrefutable assets (unlike a third party you're trusting with millions in X company)!
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Ended]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | MultiWallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: August 25, 2017, 01:04:24 AM

I think that current NVO holders are quite happy to pick them up at low prices. I will be buying a bunch this weekend, once my funds arrive.

Is possible to buy this within counterwallet?
Do we need to buy XCP first to be able to buy NVO or it can be done directly with BTC?

buy xcp from rex, polo, bter ----)  transfer to counterwallet -----) buy NVST with your XCP (remember to have some little btc on counterwallet) ----) profit

I'd recommend staying away from Poloniex. Still waiting on a counterparty withdrawal I did 12+ hours ago. Usually my bitcoin withdrawals or even anything else I've done before has taken a normal 2-10 minutes. This is really strange. Also they withdrawal fee was horrendous. 0.2XCP for a withdrawal. I guess because it's based off of bitcoin transactions but still, why don't they just send it already!? I just want to load up on more NVST while it's cheap!
