361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / [ANN] SONM • Decentralized Fog Computing on: March 27, 2017, 10:14:43 PM

SONM is a fog computing platform that is a more effective alternative for cloud services. In June 2018, SONM released its main product: an infrastructure for renting or leasing computing resources to solve real-world business problems, from CGI rendering to scientific computations. While purchasing your own hardware is pricy and renting it from a cloud service provider is even more expensive, with SONM, clients can get more cost-efficient solutions than with cloud services and save up to 80%.

On a business logic level, SONM is abstracted from computing architecture (currently the x86-amd64 support is implemented, it will be expanded in the future) and abstracted from virtualization technology (Docker support is currently implemented).

AUDIENCES

Suppliers

Users that have computing resources and would like to either start earning revenue from them or to increase income from their existing resource usage activities (PCs, mining rigs, servers). Suppliers can rent out computing instances on the SONM marketplace. Different parts of hardware can be rented out: CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD, Network.

Customers

Users who need computing powers to work on their projects. Customers define what resources and capabilities are required and set the desired price, then choose the relevant option on SONM’s computing power marketplace.

OPTIONS FOR TOKEN HOLDERS

SNM Token

The internal SONM virtual currency, the SNM token is used for payments on the marketplace. It is an ERC20 standard token based on Ethereum.

A masternode

Anybody holding 100,000 SNM or more can establish a PoS masternode that will be a part of the SONM network. The masternode will check and confirm SNM transactions and provide token circulation from the Ethereum blockchain to the SONM Sidechain. Running a masternode benefits the owner: the more SNM they have, the better.

Business Solutions

On June 30, SONM launched its full working fog computing platform, a comprehensive alternative to the cloud. All suppliers and customers who need to purchase computing power can already use SONM services, paying and earning in SNM tokens.

SONM ADVANTAGES
  • flexibility of solutions (SaaS, PaaS and Iaas);
  • scalability of resources;
  • savings up to 80%;
  • geographical distribution;
  • open infrastructure.

IaaS — Infrastructure as a service — is the platform’s current, and most flexible of all, working mode. It allows the deployment of storage, networks, servers and scale processing power to be automated. The main advantage of IaaS is complete control for the consumer over its applications and the ability to use only the infrastructure to run its application, rather than full-fledged software.

SONM's MISSION

  • To create a global decentralized marketplace for computing power: open-source, free from ownership, and cheaper than centralized cloud providers;
  • To provide both individuals and businesses for the first time in history with the opportunity to use decentralized computing resources in whatever quantity they require;
  • To enable individual owners of hardware to profit from renting out computing resources;
  • To create a viable alternative to the cloud computing giants that literally own the world right now;
  • To create a platform for applications of a new type: applications of the future. These are decentralized applications, similar in architecture to microservices, viable for horizontal scaling and which can withstand the failure of individual nodes.

MAIN USE CASES

  • Machine learning: compatible with TensorFlow, Theano, Caffe, MLib (Spark) and others;
  • Video rendering: hundreds of instances with GPUs can be involved in GPU rendering instantly;
  • Scientific calculations: compatible with Apache BigData stack (HDFS, Spark, Kafka, Hive, etc.) through docker containers;
  • Backend for managed data storage services;
  • Large scale deployment: flexible options for connecting/disabling additional computing power when needed.

                                                 ICO SONM added - ICOTRACKER.NET   https://icotracker.net/project/sonm

Good news, but some of the info on this website is irrelevant)
But, anyway, thanks to icotracker admin, we really appreciate it)

We'll contact the admin to provide the correct information.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 27, 2017, 10:39:45 AM
when sonm coin launch, until now this thread not explain detail coin
i think if you want ico selling without explain coin, is very dificult you cant get investor

Check our Whitepaper - there are lots of details on SONM technology and SNM token allocation structure.
http://sonm.io/Sonm1.pdf

It's still under construction: we are receiving the feedback from crypto community, financial, marketing andvisers and grid computing experts and constantly improving the SONM Whitepaper to make it as clear as possible.

Are you guys still looking to do your pre-sale this month, we have just 4 days to go, this is a awkward way of doing things, your team should be doing better than this
You're right - it's too late to launch the preICO this month. It'll start in the beginning of april.
We'll make an announcement today or tomorrow in this thread and create the preICO ANN thread with further details.

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay.

Some news:

1. We've almost finished SONM project whitepaper, v.0.8.
We are getting feedback from respected crypto, BOINC and grid computing community members and are editing whitepaper again, and again, and again - to make the WP as clear as possible from technical and financial points of view.

2. Our developers are deploying Ethereum smart contracts and making security audit.

3. Arrangements with SONM project advisers and escrow(s) are in progress.

4. Lots of other stuff to be done.

We want everything to be perfect.
We'll let everyone know when there will be news about the SNM tokens presale. We'll announce it in a few days in this thread + we'll create the preICO ANN thread (link will be provided here).

Stay tuned)

Shiiiieeeeett, to many bounty hunters.
Seems like they gonna significantly drop the ARK rate selling their bounties.

Deja Vu.
Hardfork, sneaky chinese miners, greedy exchanges.

ETC already did it!
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You all can thank Roger Ver and Jihan Wu for crashing the market on: March 19, 2017, 02:05:29 PM
The dogs bark, but the btc goes on.

We've already seen shit like this before, for example, Bitcoin XT and Mike Hearn's bullshit.
Everything gonna be alright, fellas)

It's a good moment to buy some btc at the bottom.

On website no info no roadmap suspicious

We will provide full development roadmap and timeline in the final version of SONM Whitepaper in 1-2 weeks.

371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 05, 2017, 05:56:07 PM
It will be much more profitable than mining ?

Considering current difficulty of PoW mining - absolutely.
There are lots of miners with GPU farms becoming useless due to increasing difficulty (even for altcoins mining). Sometimes mining profit doesn't even cover the cost of electricity spent for PoW.

Fog computing projects using miners' computing resources for calculations give the new life to solo mining.

SONM is not the only one: as we mentioned before, there are already lots of competitors in distributed computing (Golem, Elastic, iEx.ec, maybe Gridcoin, Foldingcoin, etc).
But we have strong benefits, technology, experience and unique selling points distinguishing our project from others, so this competition gonna be really interesting)

Can you set up auto-invite for your slack group please? I have some questions.

We fixed Slack auto-invite issue, check the link in the first post, please.
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 05, 2017, 03:01:11 PM
great news for the miners! when the launch ?

We are not sure yet. We already have functional prototypes, but SONM platform is still under development.
We will provide full development roadmap and timeline in the final version of SONM Whitepaper in 1-2 weeks.

Pre-ICO and ICO will also be announced in a month or so, we need to make things right first: finalize our WP, make final arrangements with escrow and advisers, deploy crowdsale smart-contract and make its security audit, etc etc.

Stay tuned)

lol
elastic is real this is not, so...

Sure, man.
We are unreal.

By the way, Cornell University Library has just published Andrey Voronkov's and Sergey Ponomarev's (SONM devs) article about SONM system, fog computing and our modified P2P BOINC protocol.

Check it out here:

Can you set up auto-invite for your slack group please? I have some questions.

Sorry about that, we'll fix this Slack autoinvite issue in about 1-2 hours.

P.S.
Stay tuned, currently we are working on the final edition of SONM Whitepaper.
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 05, 2017, 01:40:49 PM
SONM main benefits comparing to competing projects are:
1. Modified p2p version of widespread BOINC protocol , used to distribute computing tasks between the miners in the network. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Open_Infrastructure_for_Network_Computing)
2. 3 years old functional DrugDiscovery@home project, first system implementing SONM technologies (http://www.drugdiscoveryathome.com)
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 04, 2017, 09:17:08 PM
Good luck with the ICO. Too many red flags to participate.

Elastic, hi!
Same, good luck with your project, guys. This competition gonna be interesting.
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 04, 2017, 06:11:32 PM
isn't this just like how Golem (GNT) is? which i think can be a scam in the end.
Golem project is also developing decentralized supercomputer platform. (+ iEx.Ec, Elastic, etc.)

SONM main benefits comparing to competing projects are:
1. Modified p2p version of widespread BOINC protocol , used to distribute computing tasks between the miners in the network. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Open_Infrastructure_for_Network_Computing)
2. 3 years old functional DrugDiscovery@home project, first system implementing SONM technologies (http://www.drugdiscoveryathome.com)

its always a mumbo jumbo and they complicate things like its for geeks only, they can't simply say a thing about it until they just prompt us the btc address where to send the money to them. its always bullshit.

If you didn't read the thread and draft whitepaper or\and you don't have enough tech knowledge to understand the technology - it doesn't mean that devs complicate things.
Cheers.
377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 04, 2017, 05:43:58 PM
I have no evidence, but usually scammers make their fictional project based on mainstream ideas.

Thanks for your expert opinion.
We are glad that you leave our project aside.

For everyone interested in WP translation:
We almost finished final version of SONM whitepaper. We will notify you in this thread when it's done and discuss the details of cooperation.
Thanks in advance, guys!
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 03, 2017, 01:03:43 PM
Another Russian scammer starts his project. I leave aside this project.

Any proof?
Links, due diligence, analysis?
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 03, 2017, 11:43:31 AM
Why another ICO for tech thats being worked on by 3+ projects right now? Just wondering

Couldnt you just work on this tech for a few months, present working software... THEN do an ICO?

People... be smart. If you want to give away your bitcoin on promises - Check out my profile for my BTC addy and send some over here too.

1. Because fog computing has a huge potential and will take decent share of cloud computing multi-billion market.
Also, there are lots of solo-miners with idle hardware, (useless with current PoW mining difficulty, even for altcoins) eagering to use them for profit.

2. Unlike competing distributed computing projects, SONM has the functional prototype (Drug Discovery@home), experience and achievements.
Also, we use widespread open-source BOINC technology, modified for fog computing.
BOINC has a huge enthusiastic community all over the world, and it's like Linux comparing to Mac OS. We are pretty sure that SONM developers community will be much more wide comparing to competitors (Golem / iEx.Ec / Elastic / etc)
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] SONM - Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining (GRIB technology) on: March 03, 2017, 11:36:31 AM
Hi fellas.

My name is Vasiliy Ivanov.
I'm crypto traider and investor with 6 years of experience in crypto, and I'm one of SONM team members responsible for ICO process organisation, marketing and PR.

Don't be so impatient.
This thread is Pre-ANN.

We are preparing the final version of SONM whitepaper, presale smart-contract, making arrangements with escrows etc etc.
We want everything to be perfect before the start of presale and further ICO crowdsale.

We'll let you know - when it's done.
