Hypothetical question: If we had a signed message from 'Satoshi' right now stating that Dorian is in fact the real Satoshi, and we had Dorian start stating to reporters that he is Satoshi... how would bitcoin be affected? Would you anticipate a drop in price, increase? Would people be inspired by Dorian or disappointed?
I think I would be inspired, and I think bitcoin would probably suffer a drop with a somewhat quick rebound to over $800+
I know a lot of people on this forum may think I am crazy, if they don't already, but I still am about 65/35 divided on whether Dorian is the real Satoshi... 65% that he is.
It seems pretty impressive how closely the characters seem to match up... and the odds of having the same name, becoming unemployed around 2000. The extreme fear of government agencies. According to his kid(s), the man used to play a game to get them to hide in the closet when government agencies were coming to get them... this sounds like a man who would disappear from a project like Bitcoin at the mere mention of a meeting with the CIA. And also sounds like a man who would profusely deny any involvement with bitcoin if he were ever outed.
The only thing that is holding that 35% of uncertainty is the *need* for newsweek to have a good story... and I feel like they (and the reporter) would do anything to get this story right now. And the fact that a person who wanted to remain anonymous would have just used his real name on these forums and everywhere else, this is what really makes no sense to me...
But then again, he apparently would have been going by 'Dorian' since he was 24... so maybe he thought it was anonymous enough to just use 'Satoshi' instead of 'Dorian'?
Any thoughts??
EDIT: Fixed spelling/grammar for "Remember remember the 5th of November"
expected '}' at end of input

OP, you should change the title of this thread to YACoin.

Many people incorrectly assume that Satoshi is from England. He is actually from South Africa and his "real" name is Elon Musk. Due to his involvement with Paypal, Elon decided that it would be best to release Bitcoin anonymously.
Thanks, John Titor.

I hope that when DSN is awarded his $150,000,000 settlement from Newsweak, and while all of the cameras are on him in court, the real SN posts an lol thread to this board

I read on the Onion that this really is famous original SN, so there's that.

Just a quick update. The Qt stake function is taking a bit longer to finish than I expected. I thought I had it ready last night, but I found a potential problem and am reworking. So, rather than set an exact time frame, I will instead set a time frame of, I'm still working on it...

For sure. The current value of YAC makes no sense. There are exact YAC clones trading at much higher amounts currently, but that is because they have integrated Mandarin, and other language translations, which YAC REALLY needs, especially because one of our principals is to be a coin that welcomes everyone. Speaking someone's language is a big part of that As for the forum, there is a test one up that looks real nice so far. Check out here for more details http://www.reddit.com/r/yacoin/comments/1zfb5d/does_anyone_know_what_happened_to_yacointalkcom/

The explorer page is now @ explorer.yacoin.org Post has been updated.

YACoin should definitely be on the list of fairest distributed coins.

Any news regarding yacointalk?
It has a message saying it would go away on 3/2/2014. The operator also runs a couple pools that have had problems and have disappeared as well. Honestly, if it doesn't come back, I wouldn't be surprised. Now explorer.yacoin.org is not operational (throwing errors).
Message Sairon - that shouldn't be the case... As for Cryptorush it seems to me there is automated voting going on (or someone is clicking like crazy). This is not how I imagine successful cryptocurrency rise.
You can click like crazy or buy votes with BTC - Seems like a pretty good model (for them) for figuring out what to add. Hahaha YACCoin... at least they don't even try to cover up the fact that it's a clone I suppose. Regarding yacointalk, I have talked to the admin a few times in the past and he seems genuine, so I don't think there is any intentional fraud going on. Maybe some personal matter came up? Anyway, hopefully he gets everything back up soon. If the forum is not working within the next few weeks, I will start another one. As for the explorer, I'm sure sairon is working on it. The explorer being down would also explain it being down on coinmarketcap. In other news, I have made some progress on getting the stake function to Qt and hope to have something up to testing within the next few days.

Nice! I sent yacointalk admin an email and am waiting to hear back.

I've added the "ask password while minting" code to testing. I will get a windows version up there soon.

walletpassphrase pw 999999 true only unlocks it for minting pos blocks afaik, not regular usage.
Can you verify that again? Because my wallet 0.4.2 doesn't ask passphrase in that case at all. See hereNot sure what you mean... is your wallet encrypted? There is a lock symbol in the bottom right corner of the your wallet. Move your mouse over that lock symbol and leave it there a second or two, and if it is locked, it should say your wallet is 'encrypted and locked'. If you type walletpassphrase pw 999999 true in the console and go back to the wallet overview, move your mouse over the same lock symbol, and it should say you wallet is 'encrypted and unlocked'. Joe, Sairon, do you have any thoughts on my input? You are the producers, conductors, leaders here... A Qt stake function has been on my to do list for a while now I will set aside some time for it over the next week.

Ive been told even it the drive was cleared that the data still sits within and that a forensics extraction could recover it**
This is not true and if anyone offered to try this for you do please make sure they are working on the basis of "no find no fee". Overwritten data is not recoverable from any HDD made in the last 10 years. A lab with scanning electron microscopes tried it and achieved worse results than guessing, on a per-bit basis. On top of that, even if FDR IS possible, it would highly depend on whether the laptop was used over the past 4 years. If used even on a limited basis, it is very likely that the original data has been overwritten numerous times by now. Like I said OP, good luck, but it's not looking good.

I've got the 0.1 version and the nov08 version on github. blogs are not a good CVS. https://github.com/benjyz/bitcoin0.1/tree/master/nov08the main files from the 0.1 source code in 7000 LOC. 2660 ./main.cpp 1127 ./script.cpp 1020 ./net.cpp 604 ./db.cpp 554 ./sha.cpp 373 ./util.cpp 265 ./irc.cpp 264 ./market.cpp 6867 total Cool, thanks for doing this. I still think it should also be added to the official repo, but whatever I suppose...
