I'm assuming he meant a user-friendly clicky GUI thingy. Wink

Not sure why that feat is removed in the first place?  Huh

PPC and NVC were not intended to be CPU coins.

No idea.
BTW, we should really switch from BerkeleyDB to LevelDB... These client start-up times are driving me crazy.

543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [BOUNTY] YACoin Promotion Idea on: September 13, 2013, 05:02:24 PM
Anyone willing to contribute for the following? I will match the first 1000 YAC's if it's reached.

Are there ways to earn this coin without mining, maybe by writing?

What type of writing are you looking to do?  It's possible in that, I and/or others may pay you YAC's if it's beneficial to YACoin.  Wink

I'm willing to do that. I have a blog, I could share links. I could make a video for the coin on YouTube, I could do whatever.

OK, I will start a bounty thread to see what everyone thinks.

546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][YAC] Yacoin Network Graphs! on: September 13, 2013, 01:22:42 PM
Address balance list updated up to block #210732. Also, here's a normalized hashrate graph, assuming 50% hashrate decrease on each Nfactor change (I'm not entirely convinced it's correct). The formula I'm using is:
Code:
f_normalize(time, hashrate) = hashrate / (0.5**(f_getNfactor(time) - 9))
where 0.5 is the hashrate decrease factor and 9 is the Nfactor we're normalizing for (N=1024 as in litecoin and other altcoins).
I don't like the sharp drops after each Nfactor change. Any clues as to why might this be happening? Could this be because of broken GPU miners that needed code changes for each N change? Also, need feedback on the 50% figure.

Looks good sairon!  I also think it might be useful to show normalized difficulty, but I'm also not entirely convinced that the formula is correct. I am quite certain though that the sharp drops after each N change are due to h/w errors, and essentially is showing that YACoin is working as designed - i.e. it's a CPU coin.

What happens when a Bitcoin2 address collides with a Bitcoin address? Is it converted to Bytecoin???

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what is the most up to date YAC wallet now? Also, I remember reading a while ago that a new wallet is being developed with control over individual sending addresses. Is this still in the works? I'd like to tip the dev team, which direction should I throw that to?

The latest stable (non coin control) wallet is here: https://github.com/yacoin/yacoin/releases/tag/stable_0.4.0  This is what you should use with your main wallet.

Coin control should hopefully be added to the next stable release after some more testing is completed.

Special thanks go to Mjbmonetarymetals for designing logos C & D. As evidenced by the votes, the design is well liked. Thank you.

I've asked all of the pool operators that I know of to upgrade to the latest stable version which has updated checkpoints.
Everyone else that has the ability to upgrade to the latest version should probably do so as well.

The client from yacoin.org (windows binary) works.

What compiler and flags did you use to compile https://github.com/yacoin/yacoin/releases/tag/YAC-cc-testing ?

that's cost me quite a bit of coin.

That sucks to hear, but you should not be losing any coin.

YACoin Official Development Testing Tree.

The testing distribution contains code and features that haven't yet been accepted into the stable release and is used for testing. This release should not be used for production as things will most likely break.

You should normally run YACoin testing in testnet and absolutely DO NOT use your main wallet in YACoin testing!

There is nothing overly obvious in the changes that should cause this issue, but that's why things are tested.

Have you tried CGMiner with the stable release (Also, what version are you running and on what OS)?
If not, install from here https://github.com/yacoin/yacoin/releases/tag/stable_0.4.0 and attempt to replicate the issue in testnet.

I turned it off, copied wallet.dat from the flashdrive and then all the problems started.

Since this is when the problem started, I'm guessing that something got corrupted on the copy to/from the flashdrive. Do you have another copy of your wallet?

You'll have to send first, but we can do a public transaction. I'm the lead dev of YAC, so that should can give you a level of trust that I'm not going to scam you  Wink
Also see my last transactions with St. Bit for 40,000.
