361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will a new type of Token or Coin replace Bitcoin completely? on: October 10, 2017, 12:01:23 PM
I think it is impossible for a new type of Token or Coin to replace Bitcoin completely. Bitcoin is the first mover cryptocurrency in a world of digital currencies. It is currently the most valuable and also the one with the most media attention. In the long run, there could be a chance that Bitcoin dies off of popularity or utility, but the truth is that more hard forks will come off of the original branch of Bitcoin. Each fork just gives free dividends and "free money" to Bitcoin holders. Judging from the success of Bitcoin Cash, it seems pretty clear that hard forks are a major benefit for Bitcoin holders.

Essentially what this means is that maybe we should be thinking about what happens when Bitcoin takes over the world......as opposed to when it will die.  Shocked just my 2 cents.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Become A Bitcoin Expert on: October 10, 2017, 11:55:06 AM
In order to become an expert in anything, you need to be able to teach others like the back of your hand. That's when you know you have the fundamentals of a topic down pat. For starters, I would recommend reading books on the subject of Bitcoin and Blockchain. Just doing this alone will likely raise your level of understanding into the top 10% percentile.

Aside from checking out books on Bitcoin, I would recommend watching a few documentaries on Bitcoin especially if you are just getting started.

Through all of this, I would then recommend starting your own Meetup group or attend some Blockchain/Crypto conferences.  Tongue
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates Praised the Bitcoins on: October 10, 2017, 11:50:10 AM
This is just another big reason why Bitcoin is a great store of value and investment for the future. If Bill Gates, programmer, CEO and scientist extraordinaire thinks Bitcoin is going to revolutionize the world, then chances are that is exactly the direction we are headed. I wouldn't doubt what Bill Gates says about Bitcoin and its potential, especially since he is a software genius. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are built off the power of coders and developers, so if anyone knows better it has to be the (founder and ex-CEO) leader of the world's most valuable software company.
364  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are bitcoins only for the educated and knowledgeable people only? on: October 10, 2017, 11:45:11 AM
I would say that Bitcoin is definitely geared toward the educated and knowledgeable people in society. For the most part, programmers, coders, and developers are the ones who help to create these products.

To most people, Bitcoin and alternative digital currencies look like a gamble or a high tech piece of software. In order to properly invest into Bitcoin, one has to understand not only cryptographic technology but economics itself. Only seasoned investors would have the foresight and resources to invest into Bitcoin and keep it for the long term.
365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the legalization of bitcoin in Malaysia. on: October 10, 2017, 11:33:15 AM
This is another victory for Bitcoin.

Regulation lets investors have a better peace of mind and buy crypto without worries. So I think its kinda on a safer side if legalization is in place for a country. This is a huge step for Malaysia and could be the start of a great movement in Southeast Asia.

I could definitely see Thailand or the Philippines also adopting a similar stance on Bitcoin. As a free virtual currency, it should be our inalienable right to own and use Bitcoin, so my hope is that eventually Bitcoin is legalized worldwide.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So many clones of BTC. In or not? on: October 10, 2017, 11:24:58 AM
Think closer on your question. When it comes to Bitcoin and its clones think of Bitcoin as the main skeletal branch, and all other clones: Litecoin LTC, Bitcoin Cash BCH, Bitcoin Gold BTG, as leaves coming off the main branch. Clearly, Bitcoin is the one with the most value out of all the clones, and it will likely stay that way until the end of time....or at least for how long Bitcoin survives.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin? on: October 10, 2017, 11:01:11 AM
I love how transparent the Bitcoin and Blockchain technology is. I think it is so cool that we have an anonymous figure with a Japanese pseudonym, Satoshi Nakamoto, and a readily available whitepaper detailing how Bitcoin works. The entire process of receiving and sending your first Bitcoins feels like a magical process. Although it can feel a bit nerdy with the long private keys and all, I love the security and privacy Bitcoin offers on top of its inherent ability to store financial value.

Bitcoin is one of the coolest inventions of the 21st century. Not only do I love the prospect of making a great investment for myself and my kin, but I am having a ton of fun helping others and learning about the Bitcoin technology.
368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is died! on: October 10, 2017, 10:46:23 AM
Bitcoin has already been incepted. How can it die?  Cheesy

Realistically, the price can't drop further than $10-1, and I doubt it would ever get that close - ever - due to the large adoption of people who already possess Bitcoins for themselves. Bitcoin and the blockchain are here to stay as a means of money now and in the future. The blockchain is the true enabler of secure value transfer across the Internet.

The blockchain has the potential to revolutionize the way we use money. I doubt we should worry about it every dying.  Wink
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin Price So Fluctuating? on: October 10, 2017, 10:26:29 AM
Compared to most stocks and Fiat currencies, Bitcoin is a global currency that anyone can access and utilize when they want.  I would say that there are a lot of buy and sell orders for Bitcoin compared to specific Fiat currencies. This means there's going to be a lot of volatility for Bitcoins and it will only increase as its popularity increases.

Depending on what the media says on a certain day or if a hard fork is coming soon the price can both dramatically be affected by Bull and Bear runs.
370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you invest your 401k or IRA into Bitcoin? on: October 10, 2017, 09:59:40 AM
Anybody dealt with any of these 3 bitcoin IRA custodians for their investment? https://goldiraguide.org/top-bitcoin-ethereum-ira-companies/

Wondering about Broad Financial's flat rate model? Is it legit? Is it even legal to go invest through a checkbook control LLC?

Thanks

So far I have had experience with Bitcoin IRA and Regal Assets. I would recommend Regal Assets and their Regal Wallet program. They have a unique cloud + cold storage option for big investors, requiring a minimum of $10,000 investment.

I have heard good things about BitcoinIRA.com and they are relatively new as a company, but they are located pretty close to where I am here near Burbank, California.

I'd say you can't go wrong with either of these two IRA options if you are looking for a safe cryptocurrency investment for the long haul.
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia banning BTC? on: October 10, 2017, 09:37:32 AM
Its good that they educate the public about the dangers of Bitcoin but can't really agree about the limitation of freedom to make your own mistakes.

If you still think that Bitcoin is safe store of value think what happens when economic depression hits on. Stock market crashes gives you some idea. Mr. Market decides Bitcoins value so in no way can it considered "safe store of value". All it takes is one big whale to start selling and it may lose 75% of its value in an instant.
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you guys withdraw your bitcoins to cash? on: October 10, 2017, 09:21:45 AM
For the most part, I use Coinbase and Poloniex to withdraw to my bank account. Really, I prefer to use Coinbase in conjunction with PayPal to receive my funds since I can receive it within 1 day.

Otherwise, I will just use Local Bitcoins to trade locally with people in cash.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get the forked coin? on: October 10, 2017, 08:00:11 AM
We'll have to see if the major exchanges carry Bitcoin Gold once it is released but the way to get Bitcoin Gold is to hold as much BTC as possible on the date of the hard fork. Keep holding it until August 1st then you will be able cash out your newly minted altcoin.

Forks: October 25th, 2017
Live to Exchanges: August 1st, 2017

Bitcoin Gold (BTG) - “Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again”

Goals of new Bitcoin Gold fork:
- Create a truly decentralized Bitcoin
- Proof Of Work: From SHA256 to Equihash, CPU mining vs GPU mining
- Make mining more accessible to all
- Make “big” miners less relevant

374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I did it! Traveling with Bitcoin and $100 only on: October 10, 2017, 07:12:22 AM
That's an awesome idea. With the Internet, you have access to any service or vacation trip that can be booked. On LocalBitcoins you will be able to access any local Fiat currency on demand. The cool part is that you get to meet locals who also enjoy the idea of Bitcoin and the prospect of digital currency as you exchange currency within each country.

I would love to stack up Bitcoins and travel with it. I feel like it would be incredibly fun discovering new things to do and services you can book with BTC. Only thing you need now is an AirBnb that accepts Bitcoin.
375  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: October 10, 2017, 06:48:39 AM
It's true. Not everyone can be rich. There has to be a segment of the population that is poor in order for there to be a "rich". Even if everyone who is holding BTC on this forum became millionaires overnight the true testament of wealth will be what the money ultimately gets used for. In the end, money is transferred between people as an exchange for goods, ideas, and services and the wealthy become wealthy because they know how money works. Money is a concentration of power and thus even if all power were distributed evenly, certain individuals would attract the large majority of it.

If a fool became a bitcoin millionaire overnight, he or she would still be a fool and spend it quickly and easily. Don't be so keen on rich/poor stereotypes - it is truly about having an abundance mindset and a willingness to save.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin illegal in Nepal on: October 10, 2017, 06:42:44 AM
Corruption is always the deterrent to progress in third world countries. Bitcoin is the only disruptor to any corrupt government. So here's the hint: if any government bans Bitcoin or any crypto for the matter that enables receiving/sending money from/to the outside of the country, free from its prying eyes, then something's not right with that government. Spare us from your old-story money laundering and regulatory laws, blah blah blah.
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as point-of-sale currency on: October 10, 2017, 06:30:40 AM
I don't think Bitcoin will enable a cash ghetto. Bitcoin is too advanced of a cryptocurrency that its inherent ability to transfer value across the world makes it more advanced than any other type of money before it. I read Jack's book and it is a great one - highly recommended for everyone on this forum. I guarantee once you read it you will see Bitcoin in an even more positive light.

I do think that Bitcoin is going to usher in a money 3.0 where we won't have to rely on our political location, but rather have a system where money is equally transparent and accessible to all.

Aren't there already stores that accept Bitcoin using QR codes? NFC would be the next best way to perform Bitcoin transaction peer-to-peer, but we will still run into problems with transaction speeds, fees, block sizes and the like.

Down the road, I could see Litecoin being used as the lightning-quick intermediary between Bitcoin and Fiat. Those who have Bitcoin, but wish to spend it will want to transfer it into Litecoin so they can freely spend it as they wish without waiting or high fees.
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is better than Cash. on: October 10, 2017, 05:37:49 AM
Bitcoin is cheaper, faster and possesses fewer errors in terms of fractional banking. Cash is good for making transactions on the day of purchase. In terms of holding for a long period of time, you are going to want to keep your Cash in the form of other assets like Bitcoin, Gold, real estate, etc.

The truth is that cash is affected by deflation and other forms of economic decline whereas Bitcoin is impacted by the effects of deflation, and thus the price goes up. Lastly, cash is politically based so if for whatever reason the Central Bank in your country goes down, so will your cash. Bitcoin does not have this property. Only when you need to have liquid assets to spend on items would I suggest to keep and carry cash.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I lost 95 Bitcoin on: October 10, 2017, 05:29:38 AM
I think the best place of evidence you could find is the actual network blockchain transaction for your 95 Bitcoins. If you could somehow track that then you may be able to trace the movement of your BTC.

It definitely sucks to have lost your Bitcoins, but that is part of the security within Bitcoin. It would be tough to secure Bitcoins if they were easy to store and access. That is part of the magic of Bitcoin and the blockchain, and also the vulnerability of it.

My only suggestion would be to store your Bitcoins in a more secure wallet such as either a cold wallet or a super secure cloud/cold wallet combination like one that Regal Assets offers. Wish you the best of luck in your Bitcoin journey bro.

380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What do you think will happen with the segwit2x hardfork in November? on: October 10, 2017, 04:51:02 AM
The Bitcoin hard fork will definitely bring a number of benefits. For one BT2 that you are referring to is going to be called Bitcoin Gold.

I assume that the original Bitcoin is going to retain its value (potentially even gain value because of its unique utility to create "dividends" from hard forks), and the hard forked version of Bitcoin will have similar but not quite as immense value as Bitcoin.

Also, to be honest, I do think Bitcoin Gold is going to be more valuable than Bitcoin Cash ever was thanks to Equihash GPU mining. The Second Hard Fork of Bitcoin aims to become the “World’s First Truly Decentralized Bitcoin”.

For comparison, Bitcoin Cash is approximately 12% of the current BTC price, which is still very valuable. Imagine if the new fork was even a small multiple of Bitcoin Vash.
