3601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin not tulip mania? on: December 06, 2013, 09:07:30 AM
you should do a search on tulips here.. it's been talked about ad nauseum, especially on the economics subforum. calling it a tulip mania is like calling it a pyramid scheme or ponzi scheme. it's wrong. you may think BTC will burst like a bubble, and that would be a legitimate opinion.. but they are not tulips, or a pyramid/ponzi scheme.
3602  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is looking weak. Recommend you guys take profits soon over $1000. on: December 06, 2013, 09:06:30 AM
yeah, um, acting like your opinion is absolute and calling someone stupid for thinking BTC's value is higher than $1k.. this sounds like a troll post to me.
3603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Borrowed $1,000,000 (1 million dollars) from my dad to invest in BTC (serious) on: December 06, 2013, 01:55:35 AM
Now it is a good time to buy, but don't all in at once

why not? it would drive the value up for all of us. he could let us know when he's buying, so after he puts in his buy order, we could sell and then buy it back when it bottoms out  Grin
3604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I designed some Bitcoin t-shirts. What do you guys think? on: December 06, 2013, 01:53:13 AM
not bad.. would be cool if people could custom order their own QR code as their shirt.

i'd also like novelty BTC glasses on the lens.. i'd wear it around with my robe, sandals and shorts.
3605  Economy / Speculation / Re: Borrowed $1,000,000 (1 million dollars) from my dad to invest in BTC (serious) on: December 06, 2013, 01:50:49 AM
putting $1 million into bitcoin and not knowing how to secure your assets is just crazy to me.
3606  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Switzerland to vote on $2,800 monthly ‘basic income’ for adults on: December 06, 2013, 01:45:23 AM
while i think that the elite don't pay enough taxes (at least in the U.S.), a minimum $2,800 monthly income rate is a bit outrageous. is this pre-tax or after? either way, that's almost a minimum of $34k a year for everyone.. the cost of everything is probably going to rise out of proportion.
3607  Other / Off-topic / [Split] Would users be okay with sex work / sex worker groups and threads here? on: December 05, 2013, 08:54:42 AM
just because i don't like things up my butt doesn't mean i like vanilla sex... vanilla sex blows. btw, i'm 2 days into my nofap pledge, so i should probably talk less about sex, else i might "explode." man, it's starting to get really "hard" to resist.
3608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg : BREAKING: China bans financial institutions from Bitcoin transaction on: December 05, 2013, 08:52:25 AM
Hahaha this isn't breaking news. This was announced a few days ago. They won't recognize it as a currency but you are allowed to be traded in the grey, which means at your own risk and therefore allowing bitcoin to be implemented the way it's creators intended... For now lol

you serious? so there's that kind of lag.. amazing how 1 bit of information could cause cascading panic, and people can end up losing much of their wealth.
3609  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you all want to take away money from the government? Who will then build on: December 05, 2013, 08:27:54 AM
well, i don't entirely disagree with anarchists.. i hate politicians and executives as much as they do. i'm definitely not in favor of the status quo. i just don't think having an anarchistic society really fixes any of those problems.

Yes; anarchism leaves out too many factors to consider, so usually when anarchism is spoken of, it's in a bubble that seems disconnected with all of reality.  This is why I push for rationalism, opposed to anarchism; if a person is rational enough to successfully seek the truth, and if I've been successful in my own pursuits, we should always arrive to the same, or at least very similar, conclusions.  Once it's understood that anarchism can only remain among a rational society, many of the unknowns become irrelevant; you just can't pull the wool over the rational's eyes.

Anyhow I agree with a very simple philosophy: all societal interactions should be voluntary, i.e. voluntaryism.  This happens to include anarchism since the state is involuntary, and rationalism so people are highly resistant to ulterior influence; after all, why pay someone to do what you can easily do for yourself?

i'm not for or against voluntaryism.. but someone told me about it a few weeks ago. if people stuck to their own groups, wouldn't that cause extremism? it's what we are seeing with the american political system.. 90% of republicans are whities. they feel like the non-whities are starting to outnumber them, so they turn more and more "white."
3610  Other / Off-topic / Re: My birthday is in two weeks on: December 05, 2013, 08:16:53 AM
So are we getting some surprise on that day from you ?

You'll probably get his BTC address and the option to donate some birthday cash  Cheesy.

maybe we should pay her to get a tattoo of her wallet address on her leg  Cheesy
3611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch the tracking of the sheep marketplace thief in real time on: December 05, 2013, 08:11:22 AM
they both deleted their accounts.. too much heat. they are probably figuring out where to run to now  Cheesy

then again, if it were me and i was truly innocent, i'd still be scared as fuck.
3612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons a business should accept bitcoin on: December 05, 2013, 08:08:00 AM
i have another thing to add: accepting bitcoins will help your businesses, especially if you sell a service or product that is expensive, because not having to cash out your BTC to fiat means that the buyer does not have to pay capital gains taxes. if i were buying a tesla for $100k with bitcoins, i would pay $0 in capital gains taxes (though you'd have to pay sales tax.. but you'd do that with fiat too). if i cashed out my bitcoins after holding for a year, that $100k in bitcoins turns into $80k.
3613  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you all want to take away money from the government? Who will then build on: December 05, 2013, 08:03:39 AM
no, it affected the other people who were waiting in line. she went ahead of them, so they honked.

and i disagree with you.. anarchists have a problem with the cars. they don't want government involvement, and in my example, government is metaphorically the vehicle that is used for the cheating.

Which anarchists have you asked?  I don't agree with their view.

3614  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Income tax on bitcoin profits? on: December 05, 2013, 08:02:02 AM
if you don't cash out into fiat, then that gives MANY businesses the incentive to start accepting BTC. it makes buying things like cars easier since the buyer doesn't have to pay any taxes. that's only more of a reason for a business to start accepting bitcoins.
3615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch the tracking of the sheep marketplace thief in real time on: December 05, 2013, 07:55:04 AM
i've even seen this guy's facebook page. somehow i suspect life is going to be very not fun for him soon, if it's not already.

You mean his "real" FB page? Can you give me a link?

I thought that his identity was not known... except for the fact that he is from the Czech Republic.

i posted it a few days ago in a different thread.. his name was tomas something, and he had a picture of himself grabbing a girl's tit. for your information, his gf had a pretty nice rack  Cheesy

i think he deleted his account, since it's showing "page not found."
3616  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Income tax on bitcoin profits? on: December 05, 2013, 07:50:41 AM
If everyone stopped paying taxes what would they do? The fact that everyone complies is the problem.

I'm sure there is a small majority in denial that believes paying taxes is the right thing to do, but that isn't the case for the majority.

Good point. I did a lot of research lately and came to a conclusion that the right thing to do is just to pay the taxes and not complain. People who desperately seek to avoid paying such taxes are criminals. I support paying taxes because when I buy property with my bitcoin earnings I expect my government to protect my rights for my property and so on.

are the people who avoid taxes any more criminals than the sycophantic politicians and bank execs who spend the tax money to benefit for their own good?

No they aren't. But think of the government and banksters as maffia that comes behind your door asking their share for "protecting" you from their competitors. I mean sure this shit sucks but at least there are some illusionary benefits for paying taxes and you don't get a skeleton into your closet. I would rather pay them their share than risk with going to jail. What's the point of being sick ass rich if you are locked up?

If you can feel satisfied as a human being with that attitude than so be it. Safety and comfort over freedom.

Imagine what the world would be like if Gandhi, MLK, founding fathers, etc. had that same mindset. Whether or not people agree this system is going to end sooner or later. You can either continue playing the game and let it drag on or work to improve our children’s futures.

I don't think satoshi had a get rich quick scheme in mind. When people think like this I greatly want bitcoin to fail. Even though i have a fair amount invested in it. It sickens me to think that people are ok with making profit and sitting back on a beach for the rest of their lives. That makes us no better than the people in power. Unless it's just everyones goal to get to the top and be in power, what kind of view is that? Where's the progress?

They had "rights" in cyprus didn't they? I'm pretty sure the Weimar republic had "rights" too. How far can we keep kicking the can?

That's just my subjective view though, everyones entitled to an opinion.

pretty much agree with everything you say. the wealthy people (not even the top 1%) are okay with the current system because their bellies are full, their luxury cars have a full tank of gas, and no one really bothers them. but that's not good enough for me. the world is a fucked up place, and to capitulate and become a "good tax paying citizen" while the banksters and politicians leech their way to the top.. ugh, i can't stand that.
3617  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think... on: December 05, 2013, 07:42:46 AM
im sure they have all kinds of prescription drugs. if someone can make money off of it, it is available. and i'm 100% sure they provide opiate derivative drugs on there since there are so many fiends hooked on them. i really can't make sense why it's okay for you to get hooked on vicodin, but it's a nono when you want weed.. other than the fact that weed isn't as profitable for big businesses.
3618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, Spouses and Divorce on: December 05, 2013, 07:41:27 AM
i look at threads like these https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=358254.0 and i think to myself "it's kinda hard." i am programmed to get a boner when i see a picture like that.. and bad things happen when the blood flow stops going to your brain.
3619  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you all want to take away money from the government? Who will then build on: December 05, 2013, 07:39:33 AM
I was at a dysfunctional stoplight today, and I think it was a perfect example for my point with social order.

The lady next to me stopped before the intersection, waited for one group of cars from the other lane to move past the light, and proceeded to move before her turn. In this instance, she didn't play by the rules that everyone else did.. and you know what? She was rewarded for it, by saving time.

Anarchists believe government is to blame for everything, and in this case.. government is the car (a vessel for social order). But you know what? The problem was not the car, but the human being behind it. A common response I'd probably get to that is "well, if she didn't have the car, there wouldn't have been a problem. Anarchists always point to the variable, the car (government) and not the human being (the constant) behind it. If you were waiting in line at disneyland, would you say "if the person didn't have legs, there would be no cutting in line"?

Everyone had their own car, and this one person made a decision that only effected herself (and of course, the people she could've put in danger.)  In the way government is setup now, only a handful of people have cars, which everyone else must drive in.  If your political leader (i.e. driver) decides to do something dangerous like skip their turn for a small gain, all the other passengers in other vehicles say, "Those fucking (your nation here) almost got us killed!  I hate these guys!"  You didn't have anything to do with it, but you're still to blame.

Anarchists don't have a problem with cars, they have a problem with who gets to drive, and for whom those people drive for.  The anarchist wants to equip everyone with a car just for themselves, and the people they take care of i.e. family and such who cannot yet drive.  They don't blame cars; they blame the people who use violence to prevent everyone else from having one.

no, it affected the other people who were waiting in line. she went ahead of them, so they honked.

There is a massive push by society to suppress eroticism. Has been going on for ever.

is there, really? i see a lot of sex and violence on tv. with social media, it seems like 13 year old kids are posing in their bikinis and all.
