This definitely looks like a well-planned thing.

Whether it's been planned out or developed over time, the guy isn't going anywhere just because his 11-day old copper account just got red-tagged and flagged.  Keep a look-out for another newbie making some legit deals with established members to farm some trust, and odds are you'll have your next Telegram scammer.

3602  Economy / Reputation / Re: Have you seen Yobit's new signature design? on: December 23, 2019, 11:22:58 PM
The only thing I can find that's legit about Investbox, is that it's legitimately a scam!  The wording of the little literature they provide about the service is a contradiction in itself.  "InvestBoxes can change status from Active to «No coins», but you can close your investment any time, it’s 100% safe."  WTF?  If the "status" can go to "No coins" it isn't 100% safe.  It isn't even 1% safe.

Then there's the issue of that pesky thing called math.  There is no way they can sustainably pay the kinds of returns they advertise.  Even if you take the lowest percentage investment; from 0.01 to 10 bitcoin at 0.1% daily, you'd be making 43% a year.  If you were to take their highest paying straight percentage "investment;" 1 billion X10 tokens (which Yobit claims to be worth 220BTC) at 12%, after one year you would have 181 quintillion bitcoin.  Seem hard to believe?  That's because it's impossible.

Below is a list of the "investments" they offer which have "action," and their percentages.

Dipshit moved a Russian thread into Altcoins:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5152339

And locked the English BSV thread. This is typical korner shenanigans.

The last post in the locked thread points to a new thread which shows up on the first page the altcoins board.  It must have received a super-troll-bump.

Or a super-shill-bump?  Huh

Hey guys, back from just one of the many Liverpool highlights of my year! Sportsbet have been more than awesome. They flew me out to watch the CWC finals in Doha. When it became clear the flights were bad timings, they extended my stay so it was a relaxing and comfortable visit. Some random pics, no face pics sorry =D

Anyway, great stay, they treat you like royalty, great dinner with the bosses, great match (sorry SB you had to stay and watch the awards haha), and awesome times all around. These guys went big on meeting us out there and keeping us company. There are very few in the crypto gaming business who would have gone out of their way like these crazy guys did. It was a bloody good time, and they're gamers and sports people just like us punters. This isn't just a business for them, clearly, they're passionate about crypto and gaming it's infectious.

A great advertisement for crypto and sports betting, if there ever was one.

Thanks again Steve and SB! Big hearts.

Congratulations again, and thanks for the report.  It sounds like the Sportbet.io crew was really accommodating, and made it fun.  It's great that a LFC fan won the contest, and got to witness history in this manner.  A big shout-out to Sportsbet for taking care of our little community.

I am a little disappointed how this forum does not ban people like him. The only thing he receives is bad trust rating.

It's not practical for the forum administrators and moderators to pursue scams.  There are too many gray areas, evidence is often difficult to verify, and the process is time-consuming.  There's also the fear that staff might suffer a conflict of interest if they are expected to moderate scams.  The best solution is the leave it to the community.
3606  Economy / Reputation / Re: The many accounts of korner (Bitcoin SV) on: December 23, 2019, 06:18:03 PM
I completely agree with your points regarding freedom of speech, but freedom of speech doesn't include freedom to disrupt and derail. I'd never dream of trying to have posts deleted or users banned simply because they are expressing unpopular opinions. The whole point of freedom of speech is protect unpopular opinions; popular opinions don't need protecting. I'm sure you've seen the relevant XKCD which explains it well.

This is argument is purely academic, and may even be off-topic some.  It does pertain to the subject of trolling, and banning, and "banning for trolling," so I'll risk continuing with it.

While true, the first amendment (and similar speech protections) apply only to the governmental authority, that doesn't mean others can't adopt a comparable approach.  If you mean this XKCD, then yes, I've seen it and I must admit I have issues with it.  The premise of the comic seems to argue that your protection to speech is only applicable to the government.  Well, what is a government?  Is it not a collection of individuals chosen to serve the common interests?  Frequently the common interest isn't commonly known or accepted.  Sometimes the minority voice is the only one speaking reason, which is why our laws protect that minority voice.  However, our laws only have the authority to protect the minority voice from the legal ramifications, not from the general public's reactions.

My main issues with that comic are cataloged in the forth pane.  The first thing written in that pane is factually wrong.  Yelling at someone can be deemed as a violation of their rights.  There are legal precedents that define it as "provocation."  Boycotts, censorship, and banishment aren't a violation of anyone's rights, but is it right?  Look at it from the perspective of someone with an unpopular opinion.  The majority starts calling for your ban, calling for a boycott of your products, forcing your publishers into cancelling your TV shows, radio shows, or podcost, and even threaten to boycott your sponsors.  Just because they don't like what you have to say.  Even if what you have to say is beneficial to the majority, or in their best interest, they don't like it and make a huge fuss to prevent you from speaking them again.

The reason I find such reactions destructive is because popular opinion has a way of becoming legislation.  It's a slippery slope.  People who react so vehemently to words with which they disagree are far more dangerous than any words ever spoken.

So lets take the discussion back to this forum; here we have a community that's common tie is financial freedom.  If you care about financial freedom you probably care about free speech, smaller governments, self reliance, and independence.  Maybe.  We have this opportunity to create a virtual civilization here on the internet where we get to put our principals to the test.  Exercise our convictions.  Can they pass the test?  As irritating and frustrating dissenting points of view can be, can we force ourselves to tolerate them for the overall benefit of liberty?

However, CH/TOAA (as an example), has literally been posting the same nonsense regarding trust/merit/gangs/inner circles/etc. for over a year now. Any thread remotely related to merit or trust, he shows up with the same wall of nonsense, and the thread is rapidly derailed. I don't know of anyone who has reasonably defended that, or possibly could, as "not trolling".

You won't catch me defending the methods, or what he has to say.  But I can't in good conscience, justify banning him for being an irritant and yes, a troll.  Speaking of CH, has anyone else noticed how quite it's been the last few days?

Chiefs up 10 - zip so far. Game needs to stay at this pace so I can earn some easy BTC.

Yeah that was an easy bet, under 7 point spread against the bears even though they were home was too low.  Tomorrow is the game that I cant wait to watch.  Minn vs GB is always a good game.  Just think that green bay +5.5 is just a little too much right?  Or am i missing something here.

My guess is it'll be closer than that.  Minnesota is on fire, they've been good heading into the stretch, so I see why the odds makers are calling it that way.  Both teams have been looking good the last couple of weeks.  But, Greenbay has more to gain by wining than Minnesota does.  The Vikings are locked into the sixth seed even if they lose both of their next two games.  The best they can do is take the fifth seed if they win tomorrow night.  If the Packers win tomorrow night, and beat the Lyons next week they get the second seed, or possibly the first seed if Seattle helps them by beating the 9ers.  Either way, the Pack has more to play for, and I think they'll rise to the challenge.  I'll go on the record and say I think Greenbay will win.
3609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: December 22, 2019, 10:54:05 PM
Yet another nail-biter from the Niners yesterday.  I was worried for a while, but I'm glad they were able to sneak in the win.  I'm starting to worry about my Niners, neither the offense of the defense looked particularly sharp yesterday.

The Cards are giving the Seagulls a run for their money, today.  An Arizona win isn't helpful to the 49ers, though.  They would still need to beat Seattle next week to win the first seed.

Good luck with your bets, gentlemen.  Be smart and careful.  Remember; 'Tiz the season for upsets, and spoilers.
3610  Economy / Reputation / Re: The many accounts of korner (Bitcoin SV) on: December 22, 2019, 06:05:00 PM
Are you saying it's an actual strategy?

I'm afraid it is a strategy.  The trolling coupled with deflection could convince a naive individual that the rest of us are really the trolls.

To me it looks like just some garbage generated by an unhinged sockpuppeting troll, and if someone gets fooled by that then I'd argue they would be sending money to a Nigerian prince if not for BSV.

Naivete and the lack of experience doesn't automatically mean someone is dumb.  It wasn't that long ago that I would have refereed to myself as naive and inexperienced, and I'd like to think of myself as "not dumb."

I'm not holding my breath for any serious enforcement of ban evasions now that we have ban-evading DT members.

I agree with Nutildah that the Bitcoin SV account is probably controlled by the same person as Korner, but I'm not sure I would ban the account based on the evidence presented here.  I would would want something more concrete.

The trolling alone should be enough to warrant a ban, but given we have had to put up with cryptohunter/TOAA trolling the entire forum and derailing threads left, right, and center with walls of gibberish for over a year now, it seems that the "No trolling" rule is being firmly ignored.

Unfortunately trolling is subjective.  At what point does a contentious debate turn into "trolling?"

We can all agree that Bitcoin SV, cryptohunter et al, game-protect, and roach are trolls, and probably should be banned for trolling.  Almost any other forum I've frequented would have banned them for a fraction of what they've been able to get away with.  But those aren't this forum.  One of the reasons I love this forum as much as I do is because of the freedom allowed, and the tolerance of moderators.  I tend to believe theymos wants a forum with no restrictions on speech, with an emphasis on freedom.  I can get behind that.  If it means dealing with these shitbirds, that's a price worth paying in my opinion.

Beware, there's another Telegram scammer trying his luck today.  This morning I found a PM from member mile616 in my inbox asking me if my Telegram user name is @harleyinhawai.  It is not.  Someone going by that username on Telegram was pretending to be me.  These are screen shots of the conversation that mile616 was having with the impersonator:

Coincidentally, someone using the same Telegram username had contacted me to ask if I was still buying BTC.  When I asked him to send me a PM on the forum, he deleted the conversation, and blocked me.

electrum 钱包菜单下的密语种子为什么是灰色的?

Google Translate:
electrum Why is the whispered seed under the wallet menu gray?

If your wallet only contains imported private keys, it will not have a secret seed phrase back-up, so there's none to display.   If you are using a hardware wallet Electrum will not display the seed phrase.  The other reason your seed phrase may not be displayed is if you are viewing a "Watch Only" wallet.

Apparently you PM'd Steve from sportsbet.io a link to their thread in the gambling section, but he needs to know your sportsbet.io username so he can help you.  He already replied to you in their service thread:

yeah mate, Im with Sportsbet.io, but i need your user name, you emailled me this thread link. I can check your account and let you know what the problem is.

thanks,

Steve.

Sportsbit.io is a big, profitable company with a lot of users.  They are not scammers, and they aren't trying to scam you for ~$400.  Provide Steve with the information he's asking for, and give him some time to work things out.
3614  Economy / Reputation / Re: The many accounts of korner (Bitcoin SV) on: December 21, 2019, 11:53:18 PM
They're doing a shit job at promoting.
Ach, succès de scandale, or there's no such thing as bad publicity, as the old saying goes. It's the same as we see with every single ICO/token that's launched on here; a thread full of sockpuppets isn't appealing to any serious user, but it will drum up interest among the idiots. Same thing with the Cryptotalk campaign; their endless spam just annoys serious users, but might pique the interest of newbies.

Very true.  The fact that BSV is discussed, and their thread gets replies regularly is good for their exposure.  That's all that really matters, not the content of the discussion.  Any attention generated here is good for them.

As for banning the troll, it would be more peaceful around here if we could definitively connect all trolls to banned accounts.

3616  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Urgent - Cannot find Electrum wallet and the bitcoins in it on: December 21, 2019, 06:36:58 PM
there are many addresses and they all start with 'V' and the 'Type' on all of them is 'receiving' (to the extent that I can read that column) except 6 of them which have the 'Type' as 'change' (to the extent that I can read that column).

I don't know of any bitcoin addresses that start with "V."  Is that a typo?  Do you mean the addresses start with "b?"

While I do not have a very good understanding of the derivation path, I did not select or change the default installation path when installing Electrum wallet during both the times. Is this the same derivation path that is being talked about?

That's very likely the reason you aren't finding your coins.  Try this:

Restore your seed by creating a new wallet, select "Standard Wallet">"I already have a seed."

On the following page, before entering your seed click on the "Options" button, then select the "BIP39 seed" option, and click ok.

Enter your seed phrase, then click "Next."  On the following page, select the first option "legacy (p2pkh)" for addresses that start with "1," or the second option "p2sg-segwit (p2wpkh-p2sh)" for addresses that start with "3."

Then continue to follow the prompts until your wallet is created.
3617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: December 21, 2019, 06:10:29 PM
I saw a list of players for this season's probowl. Casual fan's question, are the players who are going to play in the superbowl always going to risk injury to play in the probowl?
Pro Bowl players that are in the Superbowl are replaced with alternates. Pro bowl is basically touch ball now and pretty boring shit as no-one wants to get injured in it for nothing.

They used to hold the prowbowl after the Superbowl, so this wasn't an issue.  Back then players wouldn't hold back, and some would get injured.  It always seemed like a wast of energy and talent.  It's not like any of those guys are looking to impress anyone for a high-paying contract, most already had long-term contracts.

The prowbowl is a silly thing, the NFL just trying to squeeze all they can out of a season, and an excuse to go spend a week in Hawaii.  They realized that viewers mostly don't care, and they were getting shit ratings for viewership.  Then they got the idea to use it a gap-filler between Conference Championships and the Superbowl, which is when they decided to use alternates for the players who're going to the Superbowl.  So now you have this "ProBowl" and players from the two best teams in the league aren't represented.  I don't know many who watch it, let alone bet on it.

I'm sorry, I don't know why you are unable to open your wallet files.  Are you sure you downloaded Electrum from the official site?

https://electrum.org/#download

As for the recovery option; did you write your seed phrase in two or more columns?  You may have entered them in the wrong order.  Also, be very careful to scrutinize every word.  Some of the bip39 words tend to look alike, and you may have missed a typo with a quick glance.
