3601  Economy / Gambling discussion / Concern about the the problem of online underaged gamblers. on: September 13, 2021, 01:24:21 PM
On the notification panel of my android device and that of many other devices of people in my locale that i have come across, I noticed too many pop up ads about one gambling site or the other, which with a click, you will find yourself in the interface of an online casino or betting site asking for you to sign up and get huge bonuses, I also observed that when using the chrome browser on my cell phone to surf some websites on the internet, I am forcefully redirected to some gambling and betting websites that opens up on the tab as well.

I'm concerned for the underaged and how easy these things have become so exposed to them. I did a little research as to the statistics of underaged gamblers for last year, and according to an article, "39% of 11-16-year olds have bet their own money" as at when published in October 2020.

https://www.roulettesites.org/blog/responsible-gambling/underage-gambling.php

Just like pornographic sites, I don't think online gambling sites and casino's can fully checkmate underaged users that sign up, and as a result, unfortunately i see the number of underaged gamblers worldwide to increase significantly by October this year.

What are your thoughts?, What are the possible solutions to the problem of the rising number of online underaged gamblers?

3602  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does a trader needs to be a full time trader to be successful? on: September 13, 2021, 10:45:04 AM
As the market is volatile and very technical, does it take full time to become successful in trading? or can some trade part time and still make real profit from the market?
To be successful in trading means your strategy works, so even if you are a part time or full time trader, so far as you have a working strategy, you are a successful trader.

In terms of profit, since that's the context i think you mean, full time trader spends more time monitoring the market, that means they will be able to spot opportunities better and take better advantage of them before the part time trader may even see it. So full time traders with successful strategies get more profit from trading IMO.
3603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bag holders of SOL? on: September 13, 2021, 07:25:42 AM
SOL is a really good project especially with all the NFT project ongoing on its network, it's very fast network and it's very cheap transaction fee. It has already recorded an ATH of $214 and has a good potential to get to $400 as it gains more visibility.

As you consider SOL, there are some other promising coins like FTM that i personally now monitor.
3604  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 vaccination becoming a criteria to live in the world on: September 13, 2021, 06:05:17 AM

I now see a situation that the world is changing and is coming to a level where if you don't have a covid-19 vaccination clearence or means to verify that you have been vaccinated or have received the latest jab of the vaccine, you won't be allowed to buy or sell.

Many Economies of countries in the world barely survived the pandemic, countries were thrown into debt from borrowing from the international community to build large quarantine centers, get ventilators which were in a limited supply, get medical kits, and even the cost of treating one infected citizen. Because having the covid virus makes you not just a danger to yourself but the public, the decision to be vaccinated has to be mandatory.

Most people that have not had any of the vaccines have not had a strong reason to, that's why they are being hypocrites of some sorts.

Imagine getting your dream job or finally getting a visa to go to your dream country and its a strong criteria to have been vaccinated or have had at least a shot?
3605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I wish i knew about Bitcoin before now on: September 13, 2021, 05:45:53 AM
How I wish I knew about Bitcoin before now, before my previous discovery about  the existence of Bitcoin and Blockchain interface which seems late to me. If I had known about Bitcoin during it's early stage, I don't think I will be in the same level that I am now.

Stop wishing and start being thankful and commit to be active with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Pride yourself with gaining knowledge and information so that you can put yourself in a better position to win within the cryptocurrency stage. It may be true that you are a bit of latecomer to bitcoin although they say "It's better late than never", but there are still ample opportunities with altcoins and others, just try to be at the forefront of information.
3606  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 12, 2021, 05:05:06 PM
Pascal Struijk definitely deserves the red card he got with that very serious tackle that has cut short the bright start Harvey Elliott has had to the season. With Leeds playing with 10 men, its a chance for Liverpool to get more goals and Sallah to increase his goals on the score sheet.

Every goal counts in this very highly competitive premier League season either as a moral booster for players and for the league table. I definitely expect Liverpool to put in pressure and press for more goals
3607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 12, 2021, 03:47:59 PM
My prediction Leeds 0-2 Liverpool

It should be an easy game for Liverpool considering the distance between them and leeds on the premier League table. With CR7 back in the league and the fitness of Lukaku, Salah will need to perform more and score goals if he is going to stand a chance for top scorer in the league this season because the competition is now more than just with Harry Kane.
3608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Learn from others experience on: September 12, 2021, 02:18:19 PM
Now on the forum, the rules are very self explanatory, don't engage in activities that'll result to you getting banned or ruined your account and you'll be alright.

I think the major problem here in the context of this forum is that some newbies are not disciplined enough to read through thoroughly the rules of this forum before they started, and so they have little understanding of how the forum operates.

Also there are also those who have read the rules and even heard the experiences of others but still choose to try maybe thinking that because the forum has many users it will be difficult to single them out.

For us who have been here a bit and the really old users, if you refer any bitcoin or crypto enthusiast to bitcointalk for the purpose of learning, please be sure to advice them to read and understand the rules of the forum, and if possible share personal or another users experience with them.

3610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading broadly in China, than Nigeria. on: September 12, 2021, 10:19:17 AM
IMO, the comparison between China and Nigeria in terms of trading activity is not proper to me firstly because the two countries are not on the same level in terms of civilization and digitalisation.

In a country like Nigeria, people are still coming to terms with what trading is, the prospect and how you can make some money online at your home's comfort from it. The country is still plagued with some barriers that do not encourage trading activities like high cost of data, epileptic power supply/no power in some places yet, poor internet connectivity, poverty and others. Whereas China being more industrialised, digitalized and not having many of the issues plaguing Nigeria, the statistics of traders is definitely going to surmount that of those in Nigeria.
3611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should you (or anyone) buy Cardano? What will Cardano be worth in 5 years? on: September 12, 2021, 09:26:04 AM
IMO, regardless of the fact that there are new projects now like SOL & FTM, investing ADA for the long term can still yield good returns if you are willing to wait and invest a good sum in it. But as you plan to buy ADA, still invest in other more recent and promising cryptocurrency, it is always good to spread and watch your investment.
3612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: September 11, 2021, 03:36:41 PM
A hattrick for CR7 will be an awesome start to his Return to Man Utd. The ManUtd game with Newcastle is a thriller to watch really, i already expected Manchester United to win this one and the game so far us nothing far from expectations. The Manchester United attack is looking very lethal with Ronaldo, Sancho, Greenwood and Fernandes and they still have options with the likes of cavani, martial and Rashford.

It's a wonderful time for all Manchester United fans at the moment.
3613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: September 11, 2021, 01:23:11 PM
Today's fixtures

Predictions
C.Palace 1-2 Tottenham
Arsenal 0-0 Norwich (personally angry with arsenal, can't predict)
Brentford 1-3 Brighton
Leicester 1-3 Man city
Manutd 3-0 Newcastle
Soton 1-2 West Ham
Watford 1-2 Wolves
Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa.

My own predictions, for the game.. I'm waiting to see if arsenal will dissapoint me again today. I tip CR7 to score in this game against Newcastle.

Crystal Palace has really shocked me in this game, an awesome game for Odsonne Edouard who has scored just coming on from the bench and on his first debut, i never would have predicted crystal palace to win Tottenham, maybe it's because of the red card though, but nice game from crystal palace.
3614  Other / Off-topic / Re: Sorare.... are you in it or do you find it to expensive on: September 11, 2021, 12:15:40 PM
Are there other people that love to get in sorare but find it to expensive to start seriously?

This is the first time i have really heard about this fantasy game of football called Sorare, i think its very wonderful. But for the starting price, €250-500, i think since it is something that has the potential to give you money, the entry price has to be high to ensure that not just every tom, dick and harry can join in.

3616  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No late commer in cryptocurrency on: September 11, 2021, 04:57:24 AM
I often see people complain bitterly about the opportunity they missed years ago. Infact, I am one of the people. But, it just occurred to me that there is no late commer in the world of Cryptocurrencies. More coins are introduced everyday. There are numbers of low coins you can buy and hold now, your inability to do it now may also result to regret in 5years time.

The whole context of OP for me is in reference to Bitcoin, true that there are no late comers to cryptocurrency, but to bitcoin, lets be sincere, there are late comers. There are two categories of people searching for other cryptocurrency to buy, We have those that gained heavily from buying bitcoins early and are looking to gain again from another alts in early development, while those who missed out (late comers) for bitcoin and are looking to still gain from cryptocurrency by now buying another alts.

You can see a that on this thread;

3617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING: Skill-based vs. Chance-based on: September 10, 2021, 03:39:36 PM
Skill based gambling is recommended when there is a strong intention to win, it is usually the choice of many who do not have enough money to want to gamble for the fun of it. Chance based gambling on the other hand is mostly the choice of those who don't want to stress, but just want to have some fun, they are usually not so concerned that they might looose their capital because most times winning alone by must is not the intent.

If you become a compulsive skill based gambler, you may be able to control it or quit maybe after plenty looses and the discovery that your gambling skill is not sharp enough, but if you become a compulsive gambler based on chance, happenings and other situations may not easily discourage you from wanting to go gamble considering that you do it mostly sometimes for fun.
3618  Other / Off-topic / Re: Corruption and Sports on: September 10, 2021, 01:34:45 PM
In my country every government during the election campaign have the statement we'll abolish corruption on the sports in the manifesto. Is this is common or I'm seeing this on my country. In each and every game, during the selection process bribe is being given. This has made several able sportsmen discontinue their passion on sports and do some routine job for their living.

Same as this is the gambling, more key players are involved with match fixing even after getting huge sum of money after every match winning/losing. Why certain sportsmen have such greed towards money when people are starving to have a single meal on a day.

Corruption is a broad term, it has eaten deep into many spheres and aspects including sports unfortunately. It has many applications. I remember a story of how a friend who is a good athlete told about he and three others participated in a federal government 4x100 athletic competition, they came first at the end and were issued an equivalent of $2 to share as their price money.
It sounded very ridiculous for the government to issue such an amount, i am very certain that the officials involved has pinched out percentages from the money, and unfortunately, that was what was left. This is also corruption.
3619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto is a side hustle, not a life or death situation on: September 10, 2021, 11:58:07 AM
Investing all your money into cryptocurrency when you do not have any other source of income can turn it into a life or death situation for you because it is then met with anxiety and pressure. Instead of calling it a "side hustle", i think it is best referred to as an investment option to assist your income. A side hustle sounds like a scheme that gives you little little change to help your life, i don't think that's an appropriate description for crypto.
3620  Economy / Economics / Re: Two basic things that can give you an advantage on: September 10, 2021, 04:45:04 AM
There are two basic things that need to be implemented when the market suddenly falls like yesterday to make a profit.

If you are a long term investor in bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, i see no reason to be bothered with the market price always especially since you have already set a time duration to wait until your investments mature.

Also, when there's an opportunity to buy, don't just buy coins blindly and in any proportion, make sure the purchase are products of extensive research, an advice to newbies in the crypto space.
