3601  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC ETF SEC APPROVED on MAY 15th on: May 15, 2017, 08:24:53 AM
Bitcoin is getting reconsidered once again do you think its going to get approved or denied? Approval does it mean BTC rockets up ? Denial does it mean it takes a dump like in March? May 15th is the last day of approval.
its just too soon for them to have a sudden change of heart dispite the rocketing prices but am certain we are getting the same answer for the
second time of asking.

Interesting poll going on here: https://twitter.com/themerklenews/status/863701606990176256 clearly most users do not favour bureaucracy

the timing doesn't matter as much. what matters is that none of the reasons why they denied ETF in first place has changed! mainly regulation of bitcoin, which has not changed yet and despite bitcoin being regulated in Japan and some other countries it is not yet regulated in US and that's what matters.
3602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank in Norway now supports Bitcoin on: May 15, 2017, 08:07:37 AM
Getting banks to use BTC is something really groundbreaking and it truly shows that BTC has developed and gone onto another level. As soon as the banks start massively using BTC into their activities we know that BTC is being massively adopted

banks are essentially service provides with money. and since bitcoin is money and it is getting a lot of traction these days, it is obvious they want in on it. if they start accounts giving profit like what they do with fiat they can attract a lot of funds and then use those funds for whatever they use fiat funds for and make a lot of profit.
not to mention all other methods of making money like giving loans, credit cards, ...
3603  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is gonna die soon! on: May 14, 2017, 08:59:18 AM
Bitcoin is gonna die soon because of too high fees and too slow transactions. It is becoming a very bad quality payment system, with no relevant pros in using it.
then please sell your coins and get out before it dies on you. the rest of us will be more than happy to have a tiny bit more of this scarce cryptocurrency available to us.

    Quote
Bitcoin developers will solve these scaling problems and Bitcoin returns to be the cheap and fast payment system it was some years ago.
bitcoin developers are just developing, the whole network should accept it. miners and users.
if you want a proposal then start supporting it.

    Quote
Bitcoin users will move all their BTCs to the so-called "altcoins". Most of these altcoins are already far better than BTC, regarding technical specs, confirmation time, privacy, etc. Dash, Monero, DOGE, LTC, etc. all of them are better than Bitcoin.
this is never going to happen. because you think these current existing altcoins are better because you have not yet used them. but when you get to know them more in details, start using some of them, run a wallet, ... then you soon will realize that these things aren't meant to be used outside of an exchange platform for trading only.

you are caught up in the temporary pump and meanwhile pumpers are getting rich because you think like this.

    Quote
Bitcoin transaction will become less and less because its users will just hold their coins. Thus BTC would become a sort of digital asset, with no actual use as a payment system. (Note that Satoshi thought of Bitcoin mainly as an innovative payment system)
we are a long way from that day but this can happen, I agree.

    Quote
People will get tired of cryptocoins and move back to the ol' banking system.
    [/list]
bitcoin is still the same decentralized currency that nobody can control. so there is nothing to get tired of. the fees are higher that doesn't mean bitcoin is not bitcoin anymore.
    3604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / $1MM segwit bounty on: May 14, 2017, 07:47:46 AM
I am just sharing this from reddit and posting it in bitcoin board since it is SegWit related for the most part. and I am only interested in that part.

    Quote
A lot of people have been saying that segwit is unsafe because segwit coins are "anyone-can-spend" and can be stolen. So lets put this to the test. I put up $1MM of LTC into a segwit address. You can see it's a segwit address because I sent and spent 1 LTC first to reveal the redeemscript.
    https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ltc/address.dws?3MidrAnQ9w1YK6pBqMv7cw5bGLDvPRznph.htm
Let's see if segwit really is "anyone-can-spend" or not.
    Good luck.

link to the original reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/6azeu1/1mm_segwit_bounty

here is to hoping Litecoin clarifies as many things as it can about SegWit so we can finally move on from this bullshit state we are currently stuck in!
3605  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the best short-term investment you have ever made? on: May 13, 2017, 08:15:32 AM
And I held litecoin, and dumped it at around $10 when i thought it was peaking but now it's $30+....

so you had $3 litecoin and sold it at $10 and made a huge profit of 233% and you are sad about it? I don't get you! that means if you had 0.5BTC in litecoin you had sold it for 1.165BTC are you are still sad about it?!!

and besides even if you missed the higher rise, nobody was preventing you to jump back in. I did that at least a dozen times. I buy low sell at the first high, then when it dips I buy back and sell again at the first high. it can be 10%-30% profits but it accumulates to a much bigger profit. something like 500%
3606  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Hinges on People Holding their Coins - Remove this, it Tanks on: May 13, 2017, 08:06:59 AM
you are making a wrong conclusion.
you say since an exchange platform was hacked, then bitcoin is not suitable to become a world currency!

it is like saying "the other day a gang came into a bank with machine guns and emptied their vault so fiat is not suitable to be a currency".

also I believe you have to clarify the subject you are talking about. is it "bitcoin functioning as a currency/world currency" or is it "bitcoin price and if/how it is manipulated".
these two are different but you are making conclusion from one argument to another.
3607  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price overvalued? Price Today: $1,827 on: May 13, 2017, 07:57:47 AM
Is it possible that whales are pumping the price right now to keep it high and they will sell at some point?

It's not whales. Whales can't pump the price up. It's the HODLers. If everybody just HODLed the price would go to infinity.

if everyone holds then price stays stable!
you have to buy bitcoin for the price to go up and you have to sell it for it to come down. and in the past years people have been buying more and more bitcoin, and although many of them are just holders but many more are new people with new money coming in to buy more bitcoin.
3608  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this the launch to the Moon that we were waiting for? on: May 13, 2017, 07:41:45 AM
Now think back to 2009-10.  If you'd said that bitcoin was going to be over $1700, anyone in their right mind back then would think that's "the moon".  And now here we are.  So I think we're already there.  People expecting to go to the moon from where we're at don't realize we're there already.
In recent times when I was talking to my friend, he asked why bitcoin is divisible up to 8 digits and the basic unit satoshi seems practically no value even with prices at ~$1800 ? All the currencies and even gold also are having only 2 decimal digits and their basic unit is being used everywhere as it has some value.

Like capped supply and scheduled halving, the basic unit satoshi is also determined as one in ten-millionth to be supporting bitcoin to have huge values. In future, we may have one satoshi will be valuing one US cent or even one dollar.

When the basic unit achieves to have some buying power, we may assume we have landed on moon.

the reason why the basic unit aka satoshi has no value compared with all the things you listed is that all those things have been around for a very long time, people understand them. Gold has been around for thousands of years and always had value!

with bitcoin, everything is new. people don't understand it, it is not physical, it is a new technology, ... so it takes time to reach the same parity.

that is what I always give as answer to someone who asks me about satoshi and why it is not the same as cent or other small units.
3609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Losing Faith in Bitcoin? on: May 13, 2017, 07:32:16 AM
all these drama and civil war is within the community and if you for example close down reddit and bitcointalk and only continue using bitcoin you will never even find out about the drama!

and as for unconfirmed transactions again if you only have a good wallet that suggests fees correctly you see that sending bitcoin has become more expensive, again no drama, no delays in confirmation, nothing.

and price has nothing to do with all this. it was a mini bubble that had to be corrected and will correct just like always.

none of this warrants "losing faith in bitcoin". you still are using the same bitcoin as you were using back in 2009
3610  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tell me some strategy about trading?? on: May 12, 2017, 10:03:10 AM
there aren't many things that can be told inside a comment to a general question that you asked!
    - read this board, it is filled with similar questions as you.
    - start using google to search more about trading and learn the basics
    - use youtube to find some trading related videos and watch them to learn more.
    - start looking at the market for some time, it is never a waste of time if you start staring at your monitor and at a live market while prices change up and down.
3611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Phenomenal rise of Bitcoin price! on: May 12, 2017, 09:45:57 AM
As we are already witnessing price rise. I think it will reach 6000$ milestone this year end. Do you agree? What do you think? What are the reasons behind this price rise?

you are talking out of excitement Smiley
$6000 is highly unlikely to happen this year. we are not yet at that much adoption. the current big rise is mostly because of the hype about mainstream adoption but also partly because of the real adoption that happened in a couple of big countries.
and also as always, when price rises and bitcoin gets some positive media coverage, new money comes in, a lot of new investors a lot of new bitcoin users come in and that always creates a bigger rally.

but $6000 needs a lot more time for these adoptions to grow.
3612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please dump it on: May 12, 2017, 09:01:40 AM
I have lost the run since I sold all my btc exactly the day before the rise. Now I want to come back but price is too high. Please tell the Chinese to make a dump so I can join again. Thanks

haha, this topic is so funny.
have you even checked the Chinese prices lately! I suggest checking it out when you got the time, go and convert the CNY price to USD or any other fiat currency you like and compare them.
hint: CNY price is about 20 to 30 percent lower than any other price, so if Chinese could do anything they would start buying the shit out of bitcoin and price would shoot up even more.
3613  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think bitcoin price will crash again in 2017? on: May 12, 2017, 08:21:34 AM
price will come down at some point but that is not called "crash" it will be a correction and it will not be big.

but nobody can tell you when that time will be! or what the final price is going to be.

look at the history of what has happened and try finding reasons for each of them. that can give you a pretty good picture of what you are dealing with.

and here is the iconic 1 in a million price topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1790863.0

this is a simple picture I made 3 months ago from the past 2 and a half years of price rise.

3614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin becoming out of reach on Common Man on: May 12, 2017, 07:49:55 AM
it will all come down to what you are planning to do with bitcoin!
    1. as an investment the "common man" shouldn't care about what price is but how it moves up. if you invest $1000 at $1000 and it goes up to $2000 you make the same profit as you invested $1000 at $500 and price went up to $1000 (2x) in one year for example

    2. if you want to spend bitcoin, then again you buy $1000 you can spend $1000 and as it rises you get some more buying power as price rises for example you get $1200 when it goes up 20% and even more if you get discounts, you can even get up to 60% discounts.
3615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulations for Chinese Bitcoin Exchanges Expected in June, on: May 12, 2017, 07:15:34 AM
So they're finally going to get their BTC unfrozen from the exchanges? How do you think this would affect the exchange rate? I mean, it been steadily going up, would the price go down as those coins come back or will it go up?

it is very hard to predict things because usually what you logically predict will not happen and instead what people think is best will happen Smiley
for example if they need a correction the FUD will be Chinese are gonna dump, run for your lives and price comes down.
if the time is good for rising, then the FUD will be Chinese are coming back to pump bitcoin, buy for your lives and price will go up!

but I think in reality, since Chinese bitcoin price is so much lower than everywhere else, there will be a lot of buying instead where people deposit a lot of fiat (CNY) to buy cheap coins.
3616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upgrading Bitcoin's PoW algo and Hardforks on: May 11, 2017, 10:32:23 AM
I am not an expert in this matter but from what I understand and things that I have read, as long as you can pool the work for mining somehow it will end up becoming what you can call "centralized".

It is in my opinion that bitcoin's PoW will shift to PoS or some protocol similar to it.
    it is highly unlikely.
you can add a lot of tiny little features to bitcoin as much as you like but making a big change which is requiring a consensus is not going to be easy or even possible.
as Satoshi has said "The nature of Bitcoin is such that once version 0.1 was released, the core design was set in stone for the rest of its lifetime."
3617  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price overvalued? Price Today: $1,827 on: May 11, 2017, 08:52:26 AM
Watch out for 2013 maybe it will be the same as 2013  when the price was increase too much look at the chart today..

2013: price went up from $200 to $1200 in a month which is a 500% increase in one month.

equivalent of the same scenario in 2017 means going up the same percentage of 500% or at least near that percent.

from $1240 (exactly one month ago) up 500% means we should currently be at $7,440 which we obviously are far off!
going up from current $1850 up 500% in next month means reaching $11,100 until end of June.

and lets not forget that we are only up 72% total in this year and bitcoin has been rising 150% to 200% in previous years without good news such as adoption of a big country such as Japan, Russia, Australia, Canada, India, China,... as a currency.
    3618  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Selling / Buying BTC on: May 11, 2017, 08:27:40 AM
we can not say this or that, you should have reached an agreement before making the exchange with him.
I usually sell p2p too, but our agreement is that the buyer gives me a price and if I agree on it, I send the transaction to him with a proper amount of fee which can be confirmed within next couple of blocks and he sends me the amount we agreed upon.

thinking the way you do goes both ways, if he insisted on paying less ask him if he would have paid more if price went up like $120
3619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price overvalued? Price Today: $1,827 on: May 11, 2017, 08:07:30 AM
IF bitcoin will not be criminalized AND IF bitcoin does not get forked. Current prices are to be considered very low even.
But we all know either let alone bith IFs will happen only when pigs fly.

then pigs must be flying right now, all over the world because bitcoin is being Legalized as a legit currency in many countries, initiated by Japan and followed by a lot of other big countries. and the IFs seems to be happening as we speak.
