3601  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cryptocurrency financial pyramids on: October 21, 2022, 09:45:34 AM
I am aware that there are such scams, but as someone who always uses AdBlock I protect myself from looking at such things at all - but I know from the experience of others that such things exist, and that they often appear as ads on local websites, or use paid ads which are displayed through searches for specific keywords. It has also become commonplace to read in local newspapers that someone has been scammed by an unknown person who promised him a profit if he invests in Bitcoin - and often quite large sums of money are involved.

It's hard for some small countries like mine to measure up to what's happening in Russia, especially if everyone knows the fact that Russians have always been among the most interested when it comes to cryptocurrencies. I recently did a little experiment where I promoted a certain website, and about one third of the traffic still comes from Russia and Ukraine.
3602  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla can be worth more than Apple and Saudi Aramco combined - Elon Musk states on: October 21, 2022, 09:30:00 AM
After the release of its Q3 earnings results on Wednesday, it was disclosed that Tesla did not sell any of it's BTC as balance sheet still show $218m in digital assets.
---
In 2021, Tesla purchased $1.5bn worth of crypto but sold of %75 of it's shares in Q2.

Of the total amount they had, they first sold 10%, and then another 75%, which leaves them with only 15%, which roughly leaves them with around 6000 BTC. It would be good if they sell that too and end the story about how Mr. Mars wishes good for anyone, except for himself and his company.

We are talking about trillions here, and at the same time a man at one point wants to charge Ukraine for using his internet for the key defense of the country, and it is a measly amount of $80 million. However, it seems that the hypocrite will finally profit from the war, because the EU is discussing paying for the use of the Internet.

Speaking to POLITICO, Landsbergis suggested Ukraine's internet access should not be left in the hands of a single "super-powerful" person who could "wake up one day and say, ‘This is no longer what I feel like doing and this is it.’ And the next day, Ukrainians might find themselves without the internet.”

He continued: “I figured that it's probably way better to have this as a contractual agreement between, let's say, a coalition of countries that could purchase a service from Mr. Musk, the Starlink service, and provide it to the Ukrainians and keep on providing it to Ukrainians.”
3603  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for IPTV on: October 20, 2022, 04:03:14 PM
First of all, why are you using the work illegal with IPTV ?
Is IPTV illegal in general or the one which you are using is illegal?

IPTV is not an illegal way of distributing media content, but it is illegal if the person who delivers the service does not pay copyrights, taxes or has any broadcasting license. All these services that you can find online (including the forum) are of course illegal, but torrents are also illegal, as is pirated software.

People use illegal IPTV because they think that nothing bad can happen to them, which is mostly true - those who are sometimes caught are mostly the providers of these services.
3604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Net Bitcoin ATMs growth drops globally for the first time ever on: October 20, 2022, 03:46:06 PM
Yeah, I think in US, working with US people before, it's actually quite hard for many apparently to get their hands on Bitcoin. Localbitcoin, which is the easiest p2p, doesn't work for you unless you want to go to jail. And not everyone can get on a Coinbase or Gemini account, apparently. So the easiest is ATMs, also to cash out BTC.

I didn't think that way, but the truth is that some US federal states have strange laws that make it impossible for some large CEXs to operate in them, but it is still a small number of federal states that should not affect such a large number of crypto ATMs in the US. It would be interesting to see the ratio of bought/sold at all those ATMs.

Where I'm from that's definitely the case (business not making profit) but here where I live now I got the impression they are actually quite popular, just around pre Covid was a bad time to dismantle running up to the bull and ATH. The Schiphol one also launched in the last "winter" so perhaps people just weren't interested then. Hard to run an ATM business when you've got to rely on interest though. I thought that airport one was the best: location, highest traffic, etc.

It makes sense because a lot of people pass there, but with the fact that many do not know what Bitcoin is, the question is how many people are psychologically ready to use such devices in airports? If you go on vacation or return home after a long time, you are more focused on other things than Bitcoin, at least it makes sense to me.
3605  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2018 Vs. 2022 on: October 20, 2022, 03:22:51 PM
No offense OP, but you posted a video of a few seconds that doesn't show anything we didn't already know. I would like you and all impatient investors to have their wish come true, but expecting anything spectacular in 2022, which is already nearing its end, is somewhat childish and naive. You have to accept that we are in the middle of a bear market, and that the trigger for a big bull run has always been a halving that won't happen before 2024.

This time is an excellent opportunity for all those who want to buy Bitcoin cheaply, and believe that they will profit from it in the future. For those who are impatient and indecisive, there is always a problem - when the price is low, they want it even lower, and when it is high, they complain that Bitcoin is too expensive.
3606  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What to do if your Ledger key have gone in the washing machine on: October 20, 2022, 03:07:01 PM
My ledger have been more than 1 hours in the washing machine and I have save 2 on 3 with the method in the videos.

I assume that devices was not submerged in water the whole time, which would perhaps explain why it is still revived after bathing. It's not something most people should be worried about, but it's good to know what to expect if a similar situation happens to someone.

Anyway , our 12 or 24 words of recovery are always there for save de situation in the worst case ^^

Except in the event that the seed ends up in the washing machine, and it turns out that our HW is broken - that would be really bad luck, so it's wise to have at least two backups in case everything goes wrong Wink
3607  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 20, 2022, 02:46:58 PM
Good news from Norway -> Hodlonaut won against Faketoshi and once again proved that pathological liar is not Satoshi. Not that we didn't know it, but every legal slap in the face of that liar is another victory for Bitcoin.

3608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodlonaut Trial on: October 20, 2022, 02:38:34 PM
I know that everything is possible, but honestly I was convinced that there would be no other outcome than this - the evidence is more than clear even for someone who is not an expert, in this case a judge in a Norwegian court. Given that Hodlonaut won, does that mean he won't need the funds he collected through the campaign - and what will happen to those funds in that case?

Probably also a bunch of gaslighting to allege that he actually won in Norway.

The man is a proven pathological liar, but does it even make sense to lie that you won the case in court if the verdict is more than clear?
3609  Economy / Economics / Re: 76% of Adults are Making Lifestyle Changes to Prepare for a Potential Recession on: October 20, 2022, 10:21:17 AM
I won't say that today is too late to change our lifestyle and start saving, but all those who didn't realize that they needed to take some of the steps from OP at least one or even two years ago are facing a very difficult challenge. Given the inflation that has realistically increased the price of many basic products by at least 20% (and much more), how will someone manage to save anything when there is not enough even for basic living expenses?

Meanwhile 42% of US citizens have less than 1000$ in their savings account. 58% have less than 5000$. -https://www.zippia.com/advice/american-savings-statistics/
They might be delaying big purchases and reducing debts but there are nowhere near being ready for potential recession.

If the data is correct, then it looks very bad for the average US resident, even though we all know that people keep some extra money under the mattress or in a bank deposit box. Besides, the US government has been very generous with those checks in the recent past, and although I'm not aware of any similar measures, that doesn't mean there won't be any again.

Not exactly. If the global economy takes a dive, crypto market's going to suffer as would any other financial market. Institutional traders won't be putting their money in assets that are volatile during a recession.

At the moment, the cryptocurrency market seems quite static, but we have seen this in the past in a certain period after each halving. Although inflation and the recession that follows have an impact on more or less all markets, if we look at the price of Bitcoin, we can say that it resists the current challenges very well.

What many have already learned is that there is a time when you should expect profit (in the short term) when it comes to Bitcoin, so they adapt their strategy accordingly. Few have the courage and money to invest in the long term, which means that they will wait for the time as close as possible to the halving or even after that.
3610  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What to do if your Ledger key have gone in the washing machine on: October 20, 2022, 09:39:57 AM
Someone please correct me, but if any HW that is not water resistant were left in the washing machine for a long time (30+ minutes), it doesn't seem to me that there would be any help. What the OP described is a situation where you notice very quickly that you have HW in the washing machine, and if it ended up there, it would probably be in the pocket of your pants and jacket so you wouldn't notice it until the washing machine finished washing.

That's why it's always smart to check the pockets before putting anything in the washing machine, and visually check if there's anything there that shouldn't be there. I recently read an article about a cat that barely survived being washed in a washing machine and almost paid with its head for its habit of sleeping inside the washing machine.
3611  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Current Market situation btc and other coins capital moves where action on: October 20, 2022, 09:18:21 AM
Our team have successfully shorting low cap coins becouse of their Nice volatility nice to see that btc not moving but one of the binance top gainer short have Made at least 400% For each of our team members thats the power of volume and volatility.

I don't want to get into a debate about whether that information is something invented or whether you as traders were lucky and successfully detected some pump&dumps shitcoins, but talking only about profit without losses does not sound serious at all. There are always naive people who think they can get rich because someone knows more than they do, but the only ones who win in this game are those who sell trading signals.

Besides that, 2 days ago you opened a thread in which you offer your service and wrote a similar post - then why this thread?
3612  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advise to newbies on PM offers on: October 20, 2022, 08:55:21 AM
For the past few weeks back I have received various offers through personal messages on this forum, asking me to rent out my signature, avatar, and personal text space...

In that case, you can be considered a very important person on the forum, because I personally have not received a single offer of a similar type in the past few weeks. However, every business offer should be considered, and every PM that may be suspicious can be reported to admins.

possibility of not getting paid since you are not under the management of any manager, or using an escrow.

You can be unpaid even if the offer is public, which is the case with some bounty campaigns that do not have funds in escrow. Risk always exists, and it's all about how much someone's reputation is worth, so if you agree to promote something for $20 a week, and it then turns into a scam, then it's your fault that you didn't refuse such an offer.

I'm not saying that payrate should always be the deciding factor, but I'd rather promote something I believe in for free than risk some cheap offer that could cost me my reputation at any moment.
3613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did a business proposal of paying 440 nights this Hotel for 1 BTC, October/2022 on: October 19, 2022, 02:56:54 PM
~snip~
I wouldn't spend a whole bitcoin at these lows.

Bitcoin should primarily be a currency, and the more people practice it, the better it will be for greater adaptation. In addition, the OP may have a larger number of BTC and one does not mean too much to him, and perhaps from his perspective $19k is not such a bad price if he invested in it a few dozen $ or only a few hundred $.
3614  Economy / Economics / Re: Actions against bitcoin miners would have greater consequences on: October 19, 2022, 02:36:22 PM
Anyways what do people think about this. Share your wisdom please.

There is no wisdom here, the matter is more than clear if you look at how many countries within the EU have hashrates higher than 1% - and accordingly what such a law would mean for Bitcoin globally.  If the data is correct, only Germany has more than that (about 3%), and all other countries together may have as much.

Incompetent EU bureaucrats are looking for a scapegoat for the energy crisis that they created themselves, and anyone who believes that such a ban would help bring about something positive is really living in the illusion that Bitcoin mining is something that is a threat to anyone or anything.

In addition, there are even some geniuses who admit that such a ban does not make much sense, but there are still many more who believe that the ban on Bitcoin mining in the EU means the end of Bitcoin. The ban in itself doesn't make much sense, but all other laws and regulations are going in the direction of the EU becoming less and less friendly to Bitcoin. Some laughed when I wrote in the past that the EU is not so far from China in this respect, and in the years to come we will be able to see how EU democracy works.
3615  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: This user is a scammer -> StormeriL on: October 19, 2022, 02:05:00 PM
Tip: look at the Scam Report Format and edit your post with all the relevant information. In this way, your word is against his, and even if you post credible evidence, you should know that the scam on the forum is not moderated. However, if you provide evidence, the user may receive negative feedback or a flag may be created that will serve as a warning to other forum users.

Trading with accounts that have no reputation and without escrow is a big risk, remember that for the future.
3616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did a business proposal of paying 440 nights this Hotel for 1 BTC, October/2022 on: October 19, 2022, 01:38:08 PM
I don't know what to say, 440 days in a hotel is a bit strange for me, but obviously the OP has his own theory of the ideal vacation, in this case an extended one. In addition, it seems that he wants that event to become historic, and maybe enter the Guinness Book of Records as the longest stay in a hotel paid with Bitcoin.

Pablo Iglesias? The Spanish politician? I don't know what he has to do with bitcoin. You made me search the internet and I don't see anything.

I think that it has nothing to do with Bitcoin, but with what the OP mentioned next to his name, which is the so-called UBI (Universal Basic Income). As far as I know (and you probably know better) they, with their ideas based on ideologies, almost disappeared from the political scene after they got the chance to do something. I know how they work because we have an identical party in my country (they literally have the same name) and since they took over the capital, in a little over a year they managed to turn it into one big garbage dump.
3617  Other / Meta / Re: I want to advertise on Bitcointalk forums on: October 19, 2022, 01:12:46 PM
I am happy for you to have +4000 merit points. Have you something to say that can help this thread or you are just here for trolling. You could for example give me 100 of these merit points that are surely sitting unused in your profile !!!

Begging is not allowed on this forum, as well as posting multiple posts in a row, but instead of reading what I wrote, you want to appear smart and accuse someone of trolling? Once again, I advise you to read the forum rules before writing something stupid again...

7. No begging.
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.
3618  Other / Meta / Re: I want to advertise on Bitcointalk forums on: October 19, 2022, 10:52:20 AM
I can not stop thinking.
You joined in 2017, a full member with 147 merits so far but you still do not know the forum does not have a marketing team/staff.

A few days ago I caught a member whose account was also created in 2017 in the most common plagiarism - so I'm not surprised that the OP is asking about some things he should know by now. He is also not familiar with the forum rules (multiple posts in a row), so it is easy to conclude that he is not someone who pays attention to details.

However, one positive thing is that he asked the question on the right board Wink
3619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Net Bitcoin ATMs growth drops globally for the first time ever on: October 19, 2022, 10:36:53 AM
@buwaytress, crypto ATMs are for some reason very popular in the US&Canada, and the rest of the world has always been quite uninterested in such devices, whether it's because people are simply not interested in starting such a business, or when they do, they quickly realize that they can't make a profit.

It's probably also a matter of the right timing, because during the bull run, the FOMO that starts really pulls everyone into the Bitcoin game, and during the bear market, Bitcoin is almost completely meaningless to most ordinary people. Therefore, for everyone who starts such a business, apart from the location and advertising, I think that the right timing is also a possible key to the profitability of the business.
3620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 19, 2022, 10:19:00 AM
China's ban on cryptocurrencies seemed poised to wipe out the domestic industry. That's not quite how things played out. @lagerkranser talks with @Yueqi_Yang and @pingroma about the Chinese government's relationship with crypto. Source: Bloomberg Crypto

Are there still people who think China is relevant when it comes to Bitcoin + what domestic industry are you talking about? Bitcoin mining and anything related to Bitcoin or all cryptocurrencies in general is so insignificant to the total Chinese GDP that all these bans did not harm them at all.

I don't understand the Chinese government's thoughts until now because they never liked cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, so I'm still not sure that one day China will like cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin just to take advantage of the situation or a desire that is still buried in the government's mind

Bitcoin in a country ruled by a communist party will never succeed, that should be clear to everyone - but there are many who have never felt what it means to live in communism. Unfortunately, I had the opportunity to see how it works, so I can't imagine that China in this kind of political system could ever accept something that it cannot control.
