3601  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Placing bets under Superbru-like conditions on: June 07, 2021, 06:59:17 AM
You might be right about this, but I'm not so sure. For one, people would still lose a lot of money because even guessing the correct outcome is not a simple thing to do. Secondly, this might attract many gamblers because the conditions are truly special, so overall it might even make a sportsbook more profitable than before. And since the odds for various types of bets are available anyway, it's probably not difficult to arrange it. And if it's risky, it could be something arranged temporarily as a promo. I see it approximately in the following way:
  • a gambler chooses a football match and makes three separate bets with the same bet amount on the score, the outcome, and chooses the third bet freely (it can be one of Asian handicap options, both teams scoring, double chance etc.)
  • if a gambler loses all of them, the money is lost
  • if a gambler wins one of them, the other two bets become void (the money is returned), and the person gets the winnings for the won bet
  • if a gambler wins two bets, this person gets the winnings for the bet with the highest odds among these two, and the other two bets become void
  • if a gambler wins three bets, this person received the winnings for all of them
The sportsbook would still lose in general imo due to the results being highly favorable to the gambler. I'd change the one win to instead of being void, is instead received normally by the sportsbook BUT the second one remains the same, where the other two bets would return the money bet onto them. I'd still think sportsbook in general would lose out though, so as you say, probably a promo of sorts would be the best way to implement it. There are probably other ways to properly skew the results so that it's equal on both sides, so maybe they could actually fix that in the future, though that's going to take a lot of testing (and money).
3602  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: By all means make some money but don't be a Zionist, be a dignified gentile on: June 07, 2021, 06:09:30 AM
Hey man, the trading community is not something that helps each other, it's more like a dog-eat-dog world. What, you expect people to shy away from profits they could take right now in place of a profit only possible in the future with no guarantee? Nah man. To each their own, as long as they profit, they'd probably not give a damn as to what happens really. Not insulting anyone or anything, it's just the way it works. As others have said, each trader has their own style of trading, short term, long term, etc., not really our place to actually tell them on how to do something.
3603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 06, 2021, 02:57:05 PM
Who are we to judge? if gambling is what makes him closer to God as long as he is a responsible gambler then we must respect him, we all have our own way on how to create a relationship with God and God is not a judgemental God, I pray when I am betting in a lottery and I feel good doing this, as long as you are good at what you do there's no harm on it.
No one's really judging who here (I think), but we are discussing on how "effective" praying is before gambling. Now if we just based it on statistics, numbers, hard facts and whatnot, then it does nothing. People can pray to their Gods all they want sure, but it doesn't change the fact that it would have no effect on the results of a bet. No harm indeed, but no benefit as well (in terms of the result).

Looking at it objectively, praying is just a method for people to actually explain something, akin to luck if I were to compare it. It's like asking if lucky charms actually had an effect or something.
3604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gaming Scams during Pandemic. How to Stay Safe. on: June 06, 2021, 12:46:44 PM
Scams will keep you in all shapes and sizes. Even at casinos and gambling sites with a respectable license you can run into problems. It is best to start from your own experiences and not to be guided too much by what people write on a forum. Some players absolutely love Casino A, while other players have a bad experience with Casino A. Opinions will always be divided.
That's quite far from the idea of scams though. Scam accusations are absolutely far from comments of the experience of users. For example is Casino A has slow a f customer support compared to Casino B, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Casino A is a scam, it's just that their support is slow. Opinions are not really things you check when it comes to scam accusations, since most accusations are based on facts. They're information that has proof, that shows that the casino is a scam, it isn't an opinion anymore. It's not like users will say that, "Casino A scammed me and it was quite pleasant".

3605  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't you think Bitcoin will die over the summer? on: June 06, 2021, 06:39:42 AM
Good thing I don't think much. That way I'd actually remember that Bitcoin has experienced worse dumps than this and has continuously outlived it. Even without considering that, just the identity of Bitcoin is more than enough for me to actually trust it. Man if everything died due to prices dropping, then ngl, a lot of things would've already ended up gone. It's the market being the market, ups and downs, highs and lows, it's literally the common sense of the market, don't really see why people still can't get that.
3606  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: June 06, 2021, 05:59:26 AM
1. Gambling in fact has many negative externalities. If someone gets addicted, the likelihood is much higher to be depressed. Depression is factor, which leads to high costs for the society.

2. Gambling addiction leads to economic costs because of crime actions. Other market actors have to increase their security standards, which means higher costs.

3. Many gambling addicts go as a consequence to jail. Jail means EXTREMELY high costs to society.

What are your thoughts on this topic?
Uhm 1, even if we do consider that addiction leads to depression, the ratio between it and other causes of depression seem large enough to completely neglect on how gambling is even a reason for depression.

Both 2 and 3 follow the same idea with one imo. The size between the people affected due to gambling compared to the general size affected due to other reasons is big enough imo that fixing the gambling side wouldn't have any effects even if fixed. The post of Just_alice should be more than enough to back up my argument.

Sure, paint gamblers in a way so that addictive and compulsive gamblers would stop, but it shouldn't be a method to stop the entire industry itself. It's operating in a way that actually helps with the economy after all, speaking from the tax gained from it itself. As far as I'm concerned, there are a LOT bigger problems to be solved before gambling, corrupted government, broken families, financial issues due to corruption, etc. Plus the blame is wrongly placed here ngl, blaming Gambling is not gonna do anything, it's a bloody activity for entertainment after all.
3607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 06, 2021, 04:53:15 AM
No, it doesn't work. Prayers are just some sort of method to actually pacify your inner self so that you would actually believe something would end up to be worthwhile, or something would result from whatever actions you would do. It's a method to calm the self, and possibly raise confidence and whatnot, but it's purely mental. It doesn't affect real-world statistics, probabilities, chances, luck, etc at all. It's almost close to a stupid idea of connecting something both you can't control, just so that you have a justifiable reason to blame or to thank for (but mostly to blame ngl).
3608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: June 03, 2021, 01:23:25 PM
Gambling is an incredibly profitable business, that's why application developers are looking at it...

Gambling is an old business, expecting its fan base to dwindle is impossible. every day there are people who become new addicts to gambling. usually, this happens when they try gambling for the first time but immediately get the jackpot.
Uhh I don't think gambling being profitable correlates to developers wanting to make it. Heck, afaik, software development was always a profitable job, so even if it wasn't gambling-related, they'd still make quite some bucks from developing stuff. Not to mention that there isn't really anything new in relation to games and whatnot, so there really isn't anything that developers need to develop. (most of them are quite similar to each other anw, and most of the effort is actually provided to making it provably fair).

It's more like Gambling site owners see it as a business, and it isn't exactly that hard to actually create a site, introduce gambling games and whatnot then get a license. Takes a long time yes, but it isn't hard imo.
3609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: June 03, 2021, 11:42:44 AM
it is not about medicine mate , but about Mental help .. doctors expertise is mind control and not physical health.
There are medicine that helps you though. Not necessarily helpful in the long run imo, but it does help you control your mental health in the short term, at the very least, enough to help you from being affected too much by the stuff you're worried about. Heck, even doctors that specialize in psychological health would still probably recommend some medicine in certain situations.

If the intention on stealing is to have money for gambling then is really disturbing if this kind of person came to the point doing this well we can say that he is on high level of addiction since she can afford to do bad thinga just to fulfill theirselves on their addiction. They really need to get professional help since if this type of person doesn't get cured expect that they will do worse things just to get money for their vices.
Well at the point that someone actually lost all of their money due to gambling, it already sends the wrong signals, both for others and for the person in talk themselves. They need professional help, yes, but first is that they really need to face the situation face first since they wouldn't actually ask for help if they don't do so.
3610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doge and coindbase on: June 03, 2021, 07:02:58 AM
I honestly would stay away from Doge tbh. it's just a coin with a foundation built from literally a man's tweet. Even if we do consider the community trying to actively support it, it's actually, on the other hand, the community wanting to devour each other to profit. You could profit for a bit I suppose when coinbase lists it on their exchange, but that's it. I hardly doubt it'd even have that much of a long-term effect.  Being listed on coinbase isn't such a monumental achievement that Doge would suddenly have that tag of being a priceless coin because of it after all.

In the end, it's still up to you ngl. The end story is that Doge may go up with the coinbase news, but it'll go down immediately if it actually went up. It wouldn't go down though, so you can try it out and just set up a stop loss so you can avoid losses.
3611  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price since 2021.05.31 in about 7 months on: June 03, 2021, 05:33:49 AM
So price till end of the year? Or am I reading something wrong? I'd reckon there wouldn't be much news to garner, maybe a bit of a rise up after maybe 3, 4 months then it just moves straight. Wouldn't go below 30k though, unless some big drastic news comes out that negatively influence not just those beginner investors, but also those long-time investors that would make them believe Bitcoin lost its value. Drops right now would probably only happen due to FUD, since I highly doubt correction would still hit the market harder than it currently has right now.
3612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you like or hate Royal symbols on bitcoin slots? on: June 02, 2021, 12:59:57 PM
Not really one to nitpick on it tbh. I don't actually mind seeing royal symbols, heck I'm more used to them since it's been used by almost all kinds of slots since, well, forever. Can't really say that it's a lazy solution but rather the market has just adjusted to seeing it so much, that it's almost quite natural to see it. To the point that any complaints about it are almost non-existent since it's already a "natural". Though I would appreciate something new, it isn't really a necessary change.
3613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on climbing challenges on: June 02, 2021, 10:31:23 AM
Definitely an interesting sport, but I'm more used to watching them climb those man-made ones, the ones with handles clogged together to let the climber go up. Idk what it's called but it was something like that. Me watching them climb a real mountain kinda scares the f out of me, and hardly doubt it would actually be officialized since there's a LOT of unknown factors in the wild that could influence not only the competition, but also their lives.

But for betting? Maybe not. It's close to purely physical ability after all. Mental capacity comes in, but tactics and whatnot aren't really involved, it's more related to their capability to stay calm and continue climbing.
3614  Economy / Speculation / Re: How high u rekon it'll go if Elon tweets right now that Tesla is accepting btc? on: June 02, 2021, 07:24:34 AM
I don't think it's gonna happen again. It was already used once, hardly doubt the market would accept it again as a reason. It may rise, but only by a bit, I suppose. But honestly, the BTC market could live on its own without the influence of Elon. And there's honestly little chance of it happening, otherwise, he'd most likely be considered as pretty inefficient in making decisions or whatnot, that is unless he makes another excuse just like how he used BTC mining costs as a reason to pull BTC out.
3615  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Money Need Competition To Flourish on: June 02, 2021, 05:17:25 AM
Hmm I guess the better term here would be economy? or economic power? Money IS merely a medium imo, whether we are using multiple types of currency for different countries or one global currency, it's still a medium nonetheless. Countries compete with each other over how their products are developed, how it is used by consumers and whatnot, which makes them develop more and grow more, to outgrow their competitors. Pretty much development begets development, it's simply a never-ending cycle.
3616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Curacao license scam on: June 02, 2021, 04:00:13 AM
If the perpetrators move to a different country, then I don't expect a small island nation such as Curaçao to have the diplomatic influence to force the extradition. And in all probability, the Curaçao authorities don't care. The victims belong to various foreign nations, and as long as the locals are not conned, the authorities will remain cold to the investigation. The only precaution we can take is to limit our participation to gambling sites that have a good reputation. Don't get fooled by generous promotional offers from shady sites.
Did a bit of research and it seems like any dispute about the user and the casino is outside the jurisdiction of Curacao. It's not that it's ignored, but rather it's just straight up outside of their decision making, they just give you a license and talk about the money, but that's it.

Quote
However, if you face an issue with a casino that is a Curacao licensee, you cannot expect the gambling regulator to take a stance on the matter. You will have to resolve the situation on your own and get in touch with the casino management. If your attempts turn fruitless, you can submit the case to the Curacao Licensing Board. You also have to present the communication you had with casino’s officials and explain the reason why you think you have been unfairly treated.
You even have to go straight up to the higher-ups just to talk about it, kind of a pain in the ass so might as well just go for other casinos tbh. Plus, I don't think local authorities would even care, even if their citizens are scammed. The license only operates on countries that allows gambling and most scams are pretty much the own of ones self. Ofc, if it were to grow into a big case, then that's a different issue.
3617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling risks during coronavirus pandemic on: June 02, 2021, 02:00:46 AM
The effect of pandemic will possibly experience for so many years especially in 3rd world countries but if the rich countries will do a humanitarian help to poor countries and help them recover for the mess brought by pandemic for sure the years of effect will be lessen. But we shouldn't make this a reason to gamble and risk to gain a profit since if we keep looking after this and aim to get a profit to feed your family then provably we will be on shitty situation once we loss everything we have.
We shouldn't make anything other than entertainment be the reason for us to gamble. Using anything other than entertainment would inevitably lead you to a big loss, since you certainly wouldn't think twice in trying to earn money by investing more, instead of thinking it's for fun where the money entering in your sessions is controlled. Especially for those with poor living conditions, heck, even middle-level families shouldn't even think of trying to enter gambling as a way to earn money. It is, in the end, just a way for us to have fun, nothing more, nothing else.
3618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China bans mining is good for Bitcoin on: June 01, 2021, 08:56:46 AM
Best news here is that we can finally make Bitcoin news stay away from China, I can finally stop seeing China and Bitcoin both in the same sentence for now. Hopefully, it's gonna last though. I do hope that it doesn't hit the mining industry that bad (hardly doubt it, but hey who knows), and that China doesn't suddenly make a huge 360 about them banning Bitcoin.

A drop is quite natural, heck we experience drops every day even without any china news, and it still goes back up in a matter of hours or days. It's quite natural. Just seeing that it didn't drop by that much goes to show how much of a minimal influence the news actually had.
3619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the FUD starting to wear off? on: June 01, 2021, 07:04:51 AM
Hey, that's how they want things to go. Not like they'd give a damn on how you see their FUD, if it makes the market move, then they'd do it. That's p much it. Yes, the initial FUD is over, and together with the correction was the one that brought BTC back to below $35k or so, and that'd be pretty much it. Any FUD news now would just have some kind of low influence in the market since it is trying to stabilize itself at it's the current level. Highly doubt people would also panic sell again after it calmed down already.
3620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin ever become a widely adopted global payment solution? on: June 01, 2021, 05:07:12 AM
Well, I personally hope it would. There's still a lot of stuff that kind of prevents it from developing that way, but there are also developments being made to make it a lot easier to adopt if it does ever start to happen. The current progress seems to be more like the development progress of Bitcoin as well as letting its name out in the world, and its adoption as a payment solution would only happen after maybe a few more decades. Just its high volatility is enough to keep most merchants away from it after all, and it'd only die down once the hype is out and the released supply has pretty much maxed out.
