3601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be more effective in the future on: August 18, 2021, 04:22:05 PM
Right now in some of the countries Bitcoin is been banned or restricted, when I think of it I do not blame the government why Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies is been restricted because they do not know the value or importance of Bitcoin. Some government officials have never done any transactions, I mean to buy or invest to Bitcoin or to use Bitcoin as a means to acquire goods and services.

Bitcoin will be more effective in the future, because presently people who are more into cryptocurrency are the younger ones (18-50 years in age).
They know the value and importance of Bitcoin. Despite the ban of Bitcoin in some countries, some individuals mostly the younger ones still have access to Bitcoin. I believe will be more effective in the future.

Bitcoin does have indefinite value because it is not controlled by any single authority. It is giving the people the power to become their own bank and use bitcoin across the globe as a payment method and hold it simultaneously as a store of value. With the ongoing political and worsening economical conditions, bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies is paving the way for financial revolution. This would be enough reason for many people to get onboarded with bitcoin.
Inflation is something that couldnt really be stopped out but doesnt mean that people would really be making full switch up but at least on cryptos existence we could really be having an option whenever things turns out to be bad looking. It does indeed have that indefinite value because it would really be always varying or depending on overall demand and good thing that its decentralized nor being controlled by someone.
Effectiveness or relevance had already been seen and it wont really last for a decades time if it isnt really that capable enough in terms of decentralization or talking into its true utility.

That's correct. Bitcoin has already proved it's worth over the last few years. Despite the hardest dumps it has shown that it could recover from the lowest point.
Even in the current pandemic when all other assets were dumping bitcoin was the one soaring high and breaking the records.
Although highly volatile it has shown what it is capable of. With decentralization comes high volatility and I think we should all agree on that.
3602  Local / India / Re: Gift Hamper form CoinDCX Exchange on: August 18, 2021, 04:11:40 PM
I remeber it because one of my friend had filled the form with all the relevant details like his complete address(as they told they will send it through the courier) and also a phot ID proof. Which according me was to complete the KYC verification. My friend never recieved the hamper. I am not sure what steps he took later. CoinDCX has too many issues in the past, stay away from that exchange.
I filled my permanent address details but i provide any kyc verification or not, i can't remember. But from some month i don’t use coindcx exchange.

So that makes it clear that it was not just you but many others.
Either you can consider it an attempt to scam users and get their KYC details or CoinDCX tried something which they couldn't accomplish.
In both of the scenarios, CoinDCX has failed to deliver their best strategies to secure their users.
It's better to have a keen eye on CoinDCX before trusting them with your coins.

3604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whose job should be more appreciated about Bitcoin widespread? on: August 17, 2021, 04:35:05 PM
I've always wanted to ask this question, I don't know if it sounds funny or unintelligent, not actually trying to downgrade anyone's contribution to the open network whose existence has impacted our economy, everyday life and internet connections. So, it dawned on me to ask this question Whose job in the entire Bitcoin history deserves the greatest accolades?
1. The minners
2. Influencers
3. Centralized exchanges
4. The users
6.  Other please specify.

If we have to give the greatest accolades then it has to be to Satoshi Nakamoto because if it were not for him then we would not have been able to use bitcoin as we do today.
Not only he created bitcoin but also spread the initial awareness that was required to make bitcoin grab user's attention.

Apart from that I think the users of bitcoin are the ones who should be truly applauded. We all deserve the accolades because the us the users are the ones due to which bitcoin is what it is today.
3605  Local / India / Re: Gift Hamper form CoinDCX Exchange on: August 16, 2021, 12:54:23 PM
I have a Account in CoinDCX exchange, and now i use this Exchange more rarely, today i see that i got a massage on 15/11/2019 in my coindcx mail that CoinDcx send me a mail about Gift Hamper, and also was a google Form link on the massage.  I think i filled their Form with my Current address for Delivery but still i not received any Gift Hamper.

It would have been more beneficial if you could have posted screenshot of the mail you received which shows their email id and the content of the email.
You should always remember to check the option of receiving a copy of the google form you send. This way we can always keep it for reference.

If you didn't receive the gift I think it's probably because the email was fake and someone was trying to get your personal details.
3606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: solana ecosystem coins give 100X on: August 16, 2021, 12:46:40 PM
I am keeping an eye on Solana since the beginning of this year and I think it has a great potential.
But the pump which happened today seems illogical to me. No news, no new projects on Solana etc..
I heard some rumors saying institutional investors bought SOL but I am really not sure if that's the case.
The price of SOL right now is pumped up and I think it will face some correction.
But in the long term I think Solana is definitely in the top 5.
3607  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Always pump after sold holdings. on: August 16, 2021, 12:41:45 PM
It's the same story for the most of us. To be honest, the same thing happened with me today.
I had sold some Solana coins a few days ago when the price was at around $40.
I thought that the price would decrease and I can buy back more to accumulate more number of coins.
Little did I know the price would pump to an ATH today. I kept waiting for a dip but the price kept rising up.
I know it's a terrible feeling but we don't have any choice other than to accept the fact and move on.
3608  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Emotions should never be traded. on: August 15, 2021, 03:07:33 PM
I'd want to provide some guidance, particularly to individuals who are new to the market. You think you should buy in ALTs whenever the market is rising. And it's possible that you'll gain from it. However, the market drops after you make your investment. When the market falls, you believe you are losing money and sell everything. When you watch the stock market rise, you invest. You will continue to be harmed in this manner. As a result, anytime you need to invest, put a tiny percentage of your portfolio into it. As a result, even if the market falls, you will still have your portfolio. Never trade based on your emotions. Calculate carefully before investing.

Very true. Calculating the risks and investing accordingly is an essential factor in trading which many fail to understand.
Going all in and putting buy/sell orders in the wrong time often ends up in a loss.
Even I have faced the same situation quite often and lost my money. The key factor is to invest the right % of the amount at the right time to get profits.
3609  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Signals in crypto on: August 15, 2021, 02:25:27 PM
We have different strategies in regards with technical analysis try to start with basic, try the support and resistance trading. It's just simple try to buy at support and sell it to resistance I know it's basic but it works well on my previous trades. I think it's almost the same as scalping strategy.

Support and resistance are crucial factors of trading but we cannot simply buy at support and sell at resistance.
The main challenge is to identify those support and resistance in different timelines.
Also, manytimes the price crosses the resistance and that's where we sell but the price rises.
So we have to look into many factors while trading.
3610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Always gamble with sense on: August 15, 2021, 01:02:06 PM
I have seen a lots of gamblers recently making consistent huge loses in gambling especially unregulated gambling which result is not even determined by the gambling sites or individual efforts but by nature like sport bets like football, Tennis, Basket ball etc. One could say that a bet is being manipulated especially for games which results are regulated by gambling sites and casinos.

Sport bets results are never regulated/determined by gambling sites but I still see individual gamblers making quite a huge losses in sport gambling which I believe it's abnormal to me and there is need to have a rethink after much losses.

Could this be normal for one to be having consistent losses in sport betting when result is not even determined by betting platforms? I have been reasoning of what could be the reason of such losses or could it be as a result of less knowledge in a particular sport.

I think it's quite normal for a gambler to lose money in sports betting. There could be many reasons.

Gambler not knowing about sports
Gambler not knowing about the tournament
Gambler not knowing about the location
Gambler not knowing about the weather condition
and most importantly, Gambler having a really bad luck

There are still many factors and any one of those could result in the gambler losing the bet.
So I think it's not that big of a deal id the gambler is losing the bets. He should rather switch his focus on to some other sport.

You Can Now Make Travel Bookings With FUN Token!

FUN Token is making your travel dreams come true with an exciting update:

Travala.com has partnered with FUN Token to integrate it as a payment method on their website!

Now, book flights, hotels, tours, and much more using your FUN Tokens on Travala. Go on an adventure, fulfill your wanderlust, and live the life you've always wanted with Travala and FUN Token!

That's very exciting. Traveling and paying in cryptocurrencies is a great idea and I am happy that FUN tokens can be used to make the payments for traveling.
FUN token has added another usecase to it's list and I think now people would be more attracted towards buying these tokens.
This can be a good reason for the price increase of FUN tokens.

Yes, trading is labor-intensive and inefficient compared to investing. In general, any professional trader will tell you that trading is not a profitable behavior model. If you want a profitable model of behavior, then invest in something less risky and reliable. Bitcoin fits this definition of a safe and less risky investment if we are talking about long-term investment.

Trading will at best bring you as much as the holding would bring you. And in the worst case, you will lose money, not earn. It is also worth noting that no trading strategy compares to investing in terms of the degree of profitability when looking at the distance.

Yes, you are right on point. I have learnt this the hard way though. I had collected some coins by putting in some money every now and then.
Then I started trading and earned a decent profit but during the recent dump I lost around 25% of my portfolio.
I know it was due to my own mistake and I mostly lost it because I was trying to recover the losses but instead lost more.
Now I have decided to accept losses and start accumulating again and just HODL this time for the long term.
3613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Things I wish I knew before starting my crypto journey on: August 14, 2021, 04:08:01 PM
I had no one and I was so determined to find my ways around and here are the costs

1. In 2017 there are many new altcoins mostly PoW coin and I was so hooked to finding the next big thing another projects that will be like BTC and ETH so I started mining every new coins I saw, as time goes by 95% of those coins end up worthless, I was just luck that few ones survived ( havven protocol, electroneum, Loki)

2. I don't know that with underclocking and overclocking can make you safe power consumption on rigs, I just insert GPU in motherboard and start mining , sadly I did this for two years

3. I never knew that some GPUs are better than the other, I went out to computer store nearby and buying whatever I could get my hands on, HD7770, HD6950, GTX 660 etc

4. I even store my coins on wallets like Free wallet which is a very bad one, never knew about centralised and decentralized wallets, I ended losing 1 million doge coin to Free wallet

If I had a teacher in 2017 maybe I would have escape some of this mistakes? but I had no one and thankful here I am today still standing strong

It's a good thing that you realize what were the mistakes you did. Not repeating the same mistakes is where many people fail.
Even I have made some mistakes and learn from it. Although we make mistakes, learning from them is a skill that everyone should develop.
Below are some mistakes that I did and I wish I knew it before I did them.

1. Investing in Ponzi scheme (Bitconnect)
2. Investing in Pump and Dump (Back in 2017, in the ICO era)
3. Trading without knowing about the coin
4. Not buying the dip (Learnt it last year, improvised by buying the dip this year)
3614  Other / Archival / Re: Another Motivation for Novice Crypto Investors on: August 14, 2021, 03:53:41 PM
That's a very good comparison to show to the beginners entering into the crypto world.
Another thing that I would like to mention to the newbies is that do not trade cryptocurrencies unless you become professional at it.
I have traded and lost quite a lot in crypto trading but I was never able to accumulate as much profits as I got in just HODLing it.
I am a long term HODLer and I have got decent profits in just holding the coins.

You can try trading with a very low amount and practice it but unless you become a professional and know exactly what you are doing you shouldn't trade crypto.
Just try to accumulate the coins investing in it slowly over a period of time. You will definitely see the profits in the long term.

I guess you are talking about "The old timer" award. Yes you are right one of the award is that one.
The other one is "Talkative" award where we have to enter something into the chat for 200 days.

In a few months I will be getting both of the awards.

So just a one-liner in the chat a day would count? Damn, now that's some achievement :p

Yes, that's pretty much it. Most of the times I just enter a word  Tongue
But the thing is that we have to do that for 200 days. Now that's something only a regular gambler could do.
So in a way, the user deserves it  Smiley
3616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accumulating small odds or choosing one or two big odds on: August 14, 2021, 03:10:23 PM
If you have been involved with betting and gambling, you notice that the small odds always wins and once the odds are big, the chances of winning will be low, so I will prefer to go with the accumulation of small odds.

Although the winnings odds favours the small odds sometimes the higher odds are the ones which take away the prize.
Since odds are high the rewards are big as well. I think it's better to take the risk sometimes and go for the higher odds.
May be if you are really lucky then the higher odds and high rewards can make your day.
Although the chances are low, we never know how luck might turn into our favor some day.

It would take good amount of time, skills and money to achieve those medals. Unfortunately I was unable to get any medals yet.
I am on my way to achieve 2 medals soon though.

Congratulations, if you go for the first two I think you should be the same as me in one medals I am completely sure, 100%  Wink this is medal "first year," in my case I am there a few days away.

As a side note, they raised the level scales by 2k more points.

I guess you are talking about "The old timer" award. Yes you are right one of the award is that one.

User pawanjain needs only 17 merits to achieve his Hero rank. He has enough activity for his next rank only lack of few merits.

User: pawanjain

Merit: 483 - Needs 17 merits for his next rank.

Thank you Cornia for pointing me out on this thread.

<snip>
I think I just gave him enough merits to put him over the edge into Hero territory--but those posts you quoted had already been merited sufficiently IMO.  Pawanjain had plenty of other posts in his history that hadn't been merited, though I had to go back pretty far to find some.  Remember, this thread is for "unmerited good posts" which obviously means you should report posts that haven't received any merits.

But regardless, thanks for calling my attention to a member who was really close to Hero.  I'm always happy to help someone rank up if they deserve it, and pawanjain definitely does.

Thank you very much @The Pharmacist for the kind gesture. I was quite surprised with all those merits. To be honest, I am feeling overwhelmed.

I have been trying to contribute in whatever way possible and was patiently waiting for the day to become a Hero Member.
I will remember this day for a very long time. After so much hustle it's finally happening.   Smiley
3619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers returns huge money stolen in biggest crypto heist on: August 13, 2021, 03:46:47 PM
Poly network had put out a plea for the stolen etherium, binancechain and oxpolygon.
Poly network fired off a tweet saying it had recieved $4.8 million worth of the stolen assets back, hoping for more from online heist potentially valued at bout $600 million.
It was certain that the amount that was stolen was the biggest in the crypto forum to have been taken. The return of the cyber loot was maybe as a result of some security personnels scrutinising tracking the theft.Blockchain system defense firm slowmist valued the poly network heist at more than $610 million and put out words to the hackers trail..
Poly Network threatened police involvement, but also offered the hackers the chance to "work out a solution." The most shocking part was that the US Department of Justice and FBI did not respond to requests for comment.
Its very obvious that the confederation is not in support of crypto as much as the sovereign states .
And i keep asking everyday,.
What is thier point of view?
How are these people looking at crypto?
Don't they believe that maybe, someday, the world market will depend on crypto's?

There can be any reason why the hackers returned the crypto to Poly network. I can think of a few of them

1. They may be finding it really hard to cashout the coins altogether or may be they don't want any kind of trouble from security agencies or FBI
2. May be the hackers are involved in the crypto community and don't want users to spread FUD about the hack
3. May be the hackers wanted to prove their point to someone
4. May be it was a planned promotion or some kind of advertising medium

The reason could be anything but the thing to note here is that one mistake can lead to loss of all your funds.
So every individual has to play safe and know where they are storing their funds to avoid losing money in such hacks.

With the massive bankroll,  it's easier to get to the higher VIP level and collect all the prizes and bonuses that come with that!
I think that getting medals is not an easy task...
Quote
Your profit (ATH) on DOGE ranked 1st! You did amazing!
Record holder: PJ - Won 23433146.8280 DOGE
Your profit (ATH) on ETH ranked 1st! You did amazing!
Record holder: Ali Dotti123 - Won 263.0463 ETH

Let's see someone breaking these records! And it's not like that some others are not hard like these two... Smiley

Damn, that's some insane amount of rewards. One would be definitely lucky to get those huge rewards.
But again, a massive bankroll is not that anybody would easily have.
It must be obvious that the ones who spends more amount of money than these rewards are the ones who would be getting such rewards.
Only someone absolutely crazy or someone with money lying around like garbage would be placing such bets.
