@sealsteam: One of my non english speaking refs wants to know how much of the funds (in%) on your site are stored in not-connected-to-the-internet-devices (cold-cold storage)?

THank you!

Could i get a quick answer on this? (Also per PM if this is sensitive Information)

Thanks

why in the world would you your non-english speaking friend need to know this information?

Because if you plan to play higher than lowstakes, you need to have several BTC on this site, and he wants to know, how much of that could be lost in a hacking attempt!

3634  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: April 08, 2014, 02:40:09 PM

maybe based on the fact that "processing withdrawals" implies that 100% of the funds arrive at someones BTC address or bank account?

That won't happen!
3635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: April 08, 2014, 02:36:03 PM
nem is certainly the coin with the biggest share of newbies pumping it. I'll give you that.

nem is a big player? What's the market cap on that?

I like the idea of next's features and I like pos, but the way next was distributed stinks to high heaven and ensures that only the first few that got involved get the transaction fees.

How much BTC do you get from fees, if you hold 100 BTC?

No only you get NONE, you also lose 11% with inflation!

Fair enough. I vote for HoboNickels then. ;p

I just wanted to point out, that there is no "fair" in cryptos. There is only: "Not exploitable".

BTC uses proof of work (you can't "fake" work)
NXT uses proof of stake (you can't "fake" stake/ownership of coins, well you could borrow them)
While both favor specific range of people, they both do their job.

If someone finds a way to distribute coins and fees more fairly, then go ahead and make it unexploitable, but I don't think we will see that soo Wink
3636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: Nxt Reimagined - Industrial Strength - Imagine Fairness! on: April 08, 2014, 02:28:24 PM
NEX is german slang for "nichts" aka nothing
Bullshit. What you mean is nix.

I said slang, and many parts of germany /austria pronounce it that way...

SELLING 1'500'000.00 NXT AT 0.000063

Hello awesome people,

I am selling half a million nxt at market prices. dont tell me I should be selling lower because we (the ones who sells in bulk) are giving you volume without price increase, and you are (the buyers) are giving us price without decrease. It is a win win situation in my opinion.

Actually I think it is perfectly fine to go at the going market rate and not lower. Sure you wouldn't be able to unload them at the market, but so wouldn't your counterparty. Its a wash in my opinion, also free market!
3640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin protocol, client, and coin for decentralized dice betting on: April 08, 2014, 02:03:16 PM

Right now the risk for the "site bankroll" is 1/2 kelly kriterion. If we would change the house edge to 1% we could then keep the kelly criterion constant at 1/2 Kelly by setting the max profit to 0.5% site bankroll.

How do you propose do we ask the community? because i'd rather change this soooner than later.

Do you know that Just-dice.com is 1% house-edge and 1% max profit?  But some big whales winned a lot and make the house lose a lot.  It's a disaster for a dice site run with 1% house-edge and 1% max profit.

But as I re-think about it.  The difference is that the house of Chancecoin won't lose a bit when the player wins, because only the player's balance changes.

So, It is more safe for Chancecoin to run 1% house-edge than Just-dice.com.

Just-dice DID run on 1%/1%. now it is also 1%/0.5% , like i am proposing for this coin.

2%/1% is just too expensive to be competitive.
