3621  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Some thoughts about wallets. Random thoughts from Dave. on: December 21, 2019, 01:17:26 AM
I'm not saying leave real amounts of BTC there.

Although I agree with your argument, the critical and most important thing to note is that we're talking about mobile wallets, which are only as secure as your ability to prevent your phone from being lost, stolen, or unlocked.  Any mobile wallet should be considered the same as having cash in your pocket.  If you can't afford to lose your leather wallet and $20 cash, don't have more than $20 worth of BTC in your mobile wallet.

3622  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 20, 2019, 07:59:37 PM
There is an outstanding issue though for me: what about people that received airdropped sMerit? Alot did, and it gave existing high rankers an opportunity to shape the league table (whatever that's really worth). I wasn't especially keen on giving out merit I didn't earn (and still have about ~130 unsent sMerit), but then again alot of the merit I received was itself doubtless airdropped, no-one had any control over receiving it. It's a messier change when you consider this issue.

I think if it's something that Theymos wants to do, he should consider the method that has the least immediate impact.   There's no reason to retroactively demote thousands of accounts overnight.

As for your point about airdropped sMerit, I don't think those should be demerited.  Being a "New Era Newbie" myself, I'm sure many of the merit I've earned originated as sMerit that airdropped to older members, and revoking that from the countless accounts that have ranked up as a result would be quite disheartening.
3623  Economy / Lending / Re: I want to borrow 100 BSV on: December 20, 2019, 06:47:22 PM
I think he wants to get short on BSV..

Well, the OP doesn't come off like a complete dumbass, so that's likely his intent.  I can't imagine any other reason to borrow BSV while having BTC to use as collateral.  But I think you're assumption that the OP doesn't have access to an exchange that will allow him to leverage his BTC for short BSV is probably why he's here.  That or he's unwilling to use an exchange for some reason or another.

There are a couple of exchanges that list BSV that I would consider doing business with, but I've never heard of most, and some I know are pretty shady.  Bitfinex lists the coin, but I've never tried to open an account with them.  Is their service available to US residents?

I will do only though telegram or skype whatever; a third party will hold his funds of course and we have to decide over how it is going to be, if it falls under some situations, the price average; but how can we decide as such with 1 pm/day!
OP can send me at any time a PM with his chat address; jabber/tg/skype/viber whatever and we see from there how to and with whom to speak about making it safe for both of us

Sounds like someone planning an Impostor Scam.  PM restrictions won't prevent you from hashing out the details and commissioning an escrow agent in this thread.  Why insist on taking the conversation to a place where scammers thrive?

3625  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: December 19, 2019, 09:59:58 PM
A Sportsbet partnership with any of the top 10 EPL clubs would be sweet.  One of the top 5 would be amazing, giving sportsbet exposure in the Europa or Champions League would be a huge boon to the advertising campaign.  I imagine sponsoring one of those clubs is likely to cost more than sponsorship of Watford.  Maybe one of the teams that gets promoted next year would be a good value, or a team that was promoted recently.  Wolverhampton stands out as a good candidate that might be more affordable than some of the more established top 10 clubs.

Of course, if City is a potential partnership, that would go a long way to legitimize sportsbet.io and bitcoin.  More exposure to more main-stream eyeballs.  I'm rooting for a partnership with Arsenal.  That way I'd get to watch my favorite team play marginally with the bitcoin symbol on their sleeves.  Roll Eyes

According to walletexplorer.com 32fmz1pdmo9XWyMAeNoniaNE94f9ubs6Ae belongs to Coinpayments.net.  I think bitmover is correct, the transaction may have happened off-chain, and only recently showed up on the blockchain.

@OP, did your funds eventually arrive?

3630  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Coin or Merit Coin (Is it possible?) "May the trust be with you" on: December 19, 2019, 02:57:12 PM
I'll echo the rest who've said it's a bad idea to monetize merit.

The trade and arbitration issues can be addressed without the forum's participation.  In fact, I think it's best if the forum is not expected to provide such services.

I've been thinking recently about how an escrow cooperative comprised of several trusted members working with a multi-sig wallet could be a good way to prevent scams.  It would require trusted members to volunteer, since payment expectations would be minimal and insignificant.  Members of the cooperative could be voted in by the community, so it would be a "decentralized" organization or at least a democratic one.  I think organizing something within the community and leaving the forum and it's administration out of the picture would be better for everyone involved.

I'm convinced that notbatman is actually a professional troll, being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year (by Nasa) to discredit Flat-Earthers.  And he's doing a marvelous job.  Nobody can convince me otherwise, regardless of any evidence to contrary, so don't bother trying to change my mind.
3632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: December 18, 2019, 11:10:30 PM
I think we are looking at a NE vs. NO Super Bowl. That's my guess right now. As much as I'd rather not, I would also bet that NE is going to win... We'll see though. I'm not placing any SB bets right now... one game at a time.

Picking the Pats to go to the superbowl?  Isn't that taking the easy way out? I'm going to stick my neck out and say that the AFC championship game is going to be played in Baltimore, and the Packers will be one of the teams there.  Really though, the Ravens are looking hot, but how many times have we seen a hot team stifled by the Pats?  Too many times to count.  I'm not going to argue with you on that one.

The NFC is tougher nut to crack.  The Saints look awesome, and by this weeks standards they look like the team to beat.  Last week we were saying the same thing about the Niners, the week before it was the Seahawks, the week before that it was the Packers...  The NFC is going to come down to whichever team is the healthiest going into the Conference Championships.

I really really want the Niners to beat the Pats in the superbowl this year.  The best way to kick off a new dynasty is to start by beating the old one.  That's just the way it's gotta be.  As much as I would love to smack down the Ravens, get our revenge for the Harbowl and this season's last second defeat, it wouldn't be nearly as satisfying as beating the Pats.
3633  Economy / Lending / Re: Small loan needed for business purposes on: December 18, 2019, 10:32:45 PM
There are plenty of real investors here, and there are plenty of real scammers here as well.  In order to be counted among the former one must be keen at identifying the latter.

Care to take a guess in which category I have you listed?  Here's a hint; since you're here begging strangers for money, I recon you have none to invest.  Kind of narrows things down a bit.
3634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: December 18, 2019, 04:20:14 PM
Stellar is indifferent to the coin and its value ...

What makes you say that?  Recently they burned a large supply of coins to, and it's presumed they did so to avoid a decline in value.  I believe they were concerned that after the airdrop a bunch of Keybase users would dump their coins, which would have hurt the value of the coin.  These efforts seem to contradict your statement.
3635  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Vid of Biden admit bribe of Ukrainian Pres. to fire prosecutor investigating son on: December 18, 2019, 03:32:20 PM
Sure, they'll report the indictments, but how they report them is equally important.  They'll give the reports a few seconds of air time, dance around some facts, completely omit others, and word their reports in such a way that makes it seem like political infighting.  They'll use every trick in the book to convince their already biased base that Trump is abusing his power yet again.

An impeachable offence?  Of course it is.  Anytime this president attempts to accomplish his mission of draining the swamp, the swamp recruits the media to spread their lies and undermine his efforts.  Why should the swamp-rats get their hands dirty when the media is more than eager to do all the dirty work?
3636  Other / Meta / Re: Red trust just because of the assumption on: December 18, 2019, 03:00:22 PM
I'm with The Pharmacist on this one; I don't think a tag is appropriate.  The blockchain doesn't lie, but it doesn't tell the whole story either.  There are many legitimate reasons for multiple users to send tokens (or funds) to one address, and I don't think it's an automatic link between the two accounts.  Especially if there is only one instance of this behavior.

I've even found myself concerned about this due to my lending activities.  I've had borrowers ask their campaign mangers to send their earnings directly to my loan-repayment address.  The blockchain shows someone else's earnings coming to me.  By the standard used in this case, some might claim that the two of us are alts.  I've even had a borrower suggest that he enroll my loan-repayment address in his signature campaign spreadsheet, which I declined.

MedvedevVasilyS says he sold these tokens to someone else, and I don't know if there is any evidence to suggest he's lying.  I prefer to ere on the side of restraint in these situations.  Unless there is overwhelming evidence, or repeated activity of the same behavior between two specific accounts, I'm reluctant to make the same conclusion as lovesmayfamilis.  I don't think one instance of sending tokens to the same address as another account is enough.

Having said all that, I think it's best if MedvedevVasilyS tries to convince lovesmayfamilis to remove the tag.

3638  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 17, 2019, 10:44:29 PM
I could see decaying airdropped merit, though I'm not convinced of it currently. If it was done, it may be best to do something like this:
 - Your current activity score as of <whenever this change would be done> is recorded, which I'll call EPOCH_ACTIVITY.
 - Your merit score is defined as max(0, AIRDROPPED_MERIT-(CURRENT_ACTIVITY-EPOCH_ACTIVITY)/7) + EARNED_MERIT.

If I'm reading the formula correctly, active users would lose 1 airdropped merit per week (actually, they'd lose 2 airdropped merits with every activity increase, which is on a biweekly basis.)  If it's something that is important to you and the community, that seems like a fair way of implementing it.

Those who are active and contributing to the forum shouldn't have trouble keeping their merit score up, and those who are here to shill and spam will be able to see themselves being slowly demoted.  An airdropped Legendary who earns no merit will be demoted to a newbie in a little over 19 years.  If you can't learn to earn merit in 19 years, I guess you should be demoted to a newbie.

I like that the formula doesn't affect inactive users.  It does seem like a very fair compromise.

"“Much More to Come” – Giuliani Says Impeachment is Intended to Obstruct Investigations of Obama-Era Corruption – ‘Billions of Dollars Laundered, Extortion and Bribery’ "

http://www.stationgossip.com/2019/12/much-more-to-come-giuliani-says.html

I understand all of that but wonder how the Dems do not see how this all will backfire on them.

Sorry, I forgot...

Yes they really are that stupid...

The only way this could back-fire on them if the MSM started to report real news.  That's not going to happen, since they are also culpable as accomplices in the corruption that has plagued our country.

Think about all the blatant lies you heard during the impeachment inquiry.  Democrats can misinterpret and misquote Trump, and no one will correct them.  No one will hold them accountable for spreading falsehoods.

Imagine if a Republican misquoted one word of an Obama statement.  The 24-hour news cycle would have a field day running it over and over on just about every cable news station, in an effort to discredit and completely delegitimize that persons entire existence.

I found scammers and liars, silk roaders, and greed, just like everything else

I'll let you judge if I'm any of those things, but you forgot one thing; those who protect themselves from all the above.  Rest assured however, your opinion of me is irrelevant.  And, the more you revel in your moral and ethical virtue signaling the more you sound like someone who'll run off with the money.

Good luck to you, sir.
