Well, yeah, the warehouse itself is not enough if the products would have to be shipped from US to EU. The products are shipped from China to US, so they would need to be shipped from China to EU.
3622  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: March 10, 2013, 05:55:38 PM
I would like to make a few clarifications in regards to Bitcoin store.

8. When will you open a warehouse in Europe so people can buy with normal shipping costs and avoid the extra taxes (20-35%) that are imposed on top of the final price due to EU protectionism? Smiley
3623  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: March 10, 2013, 05:11:59 PM
He should work on those prohibitively expensive shipping costs to Europe. $53 dollars for shipping a CPU? With their price it makes it as expensive as in my country. With VAT, excise, and all taxes I will be paying at least 23% more.
3624  Local / 中文 (Chinese) / Re: New gambling game, translators needed!!! on: March 10, 2013, 03:08:44 PM
I can do Polish and French translations but you need to provide more info on who you are, what software will you be using, how do you want to plan it, what will be the agreement, how many shares will people get for work and how many shares will be issued in total, how is your decentralized stock market engine (why not try MPOE who has some trust unlike you) going to look like. Now all I see is chaotic thoughts, please be more concrete.
You might also want to post this on other boards.
3625  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM - Coinabul owe me 81btc on: March 10, 2013, 01:49:12 AM
I think Coinabul should send back 50% to the buyer to split the losses since the USPS are dip shits.

I think Coinabul should send back 100% to the buyer since he shouldn't want to be a dip shit like USPS.

Let's take a hypothetical situation:

I sell something on eBay and decide to deliver it to the buyer by car. The buyer paid me for the product and gas in advance.
During the journey I decide to go get something to eat and park the car on a restaurant parking.
Some dip shit thief decides he likes my car and wants it so much he steals it while I take a shit after those delivious roasted ribs.
FFFFFFFFUUUUUU, I was supposed to deliver the thing to that guy. What should I do?

How do I prove that the theft was not set up?
How can Coinabul prove that he didn't tip the delivering company about the silver so that they can pretend it got lost and share the profits?
There is a potential for abuse in both situations, if the seller assumes responsibility as it should be, he has no incentive whatsoever to try and scam the buyer.
Otherwise I can give the 2nd car key to a friend and ask him to 'steal' it, whereas Coinabul can keep the silver and the money, at the same time maintaining an alibi because he has a tracking number.

If my car's insurance also covered whatever's inside the car I can file a claim but meanwhile I should take the responsibility for leaving the car and choosing my insurance company (in case they would try to avoid paying) and return the rightfully owned money to the buyer due to being unable to provide the delivery of the product that was promised.
3626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The taxation argument and the french Minitel on: March 09, 2013, 07:58:15 PM
What the government does or does not is something that we decide.   The government does not dictate the direction society should take.  It should merely follows it.  And to do so it often has to adapt.

That's the theory and it is often a tad different in practice. Why would a government support a currency other than its own, undermine its value? The governments hate competition, that's why USA banned Liberty Dollars (ok, there was a bit more to it than just competition). But I think it is enough to look at USA's reactions at countries abandoning USD as a currency for international trade transactions (especially oil).
Not to mention BTC is not somethings the govts. can control, regulate, print or easily ban, and govts actually want more power to assert dominance and control over their citizens.
3627  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Official Gox / CoinLab Integration and Transition FAQ on: March 09, 2013, 02:19:10 PM
I would like to a little more attention to detail.  There are some errors on the Mt. Gox web site and on the mobile app.  Also, when I go to Coinlab and click on the market depth the web page is all screwed up and it has been that way.  There are also some obvious security features not present such as IP address restrictions.

I am not 100% sure but I think there are some IP addreess restrictions, that may trigger an AML/KYC/whatever-crap-people-come-up-with check if a proxy/vpn/Tor exit node IP is detected.
3628  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am about to do something massivley stupid on: March 09, 2013, 02:51:55 AM
OP, you should've done it before recent 200% price increases.
3629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt / bitcoind version 0.8.0 released on: March 09, 2013, 02:42:49 AM
Bitcoin-Qt is very CPU intensive. I wouldn't mind slightly slower processing if it limited how much it uses CPU, or if there was a setting for that. I have a 3ghz Intel Quad core, which is a decent CPU, and my PC becomes very laggy during the phase where Bitcoin-Qt does all the validations. The CPU usage is essentially 90%+ on all cores which leaves little to any other programs.

The new version also corrupts the blockchain more often in my experience. We've had multiple reports to our site of corrupt blockchains with the new version, definitely more than before. I've personally experienced it with my second PC, as I already reported. I've considered reporting these instances in more detail because I think it is quite problematic. It's possible that these are "very rare cases" that I just happened to run to but I've seen similar reports in Bitcointalk by some others as well.

With the earlier versions corrupted blockchain/wallet was actually very rare, now it isn't that rare anymore. Or maybe there just was a random spike in the problems, I don't know.

If you're on Windows go to task manager and click on the process to change affinity (number of cores used, set it to 1 or 2) and priority (set it to the lowest value so that it won't take inconveniently lot amount of cpu power while you are working).
3630  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell, sell, sell The hack of Bitcoin 2013 again on: March 08, 2013, 04:12:01 PM
Again, not commenting either way until seeking legal advice, customers aren't affected by this so it's not as high priority as it would be if we'd lost customer funds. Basically, it's BitInstant that takes the hit, not our clients.

Well, if you DO manage to regain the lost money let us know on the forums and how you did it, it might be useful to some.
3631  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell, sell, sell The hack of Bitcoin 2013 again on: March 08, 2013, 03:35:09 PM
We posted full details of the incident here:
http://blog.bitinstant.com/blog/2013/3/4/events-of-friday-bitinstant-back-online.html

Nobody to date has managed to actually break into any of our systems, this was a vulnerability at our domain registrar and sadly there was not a lot we could have done other than choosing another registrar - which is something we will be doing as soon as possible, most likely within the next week we'll start moving.

Just curious, since this was 100% the domain registrar's fault, do they compensate you for the loss?

In an ideal world they would, there's a possibility we could hold them liable but i'd not want to comment on that either way without taking legal advice first.

What was the ToS and what is the law in the country the company is based in? Don't repeat Bitcoinica's, Slush's and others' mistakes IIRC they didn't try to recover the money (almost a quarter of a million $) via legal routes.

How about ''accountants''?

OMG I used to love this thread, but the lack of width=1000 or any other kind of image downsizing is killing my OCD. I can't come in here anymore without getting pissed off.  Shocked

Pressing a couple time Ctrl and - in most browsers should do the trick.

Piuk, could you answer my last PM to you?

Thanks
3636  Economy / Services / Re: Payment "Extractor" on: March 07, 2013, 05:28:13 AM
Is this your first account? Have you got any references?

What's the minimum amount that you would be willing to extract? I am owed $200 by one of the members of this forum (scammer-tagged) but I have no way to reach him because I live on another continent.

Yep, first account, and no references. Nothing really to loose. For me to take a case I will need at least some information on the scammer, such as name, address, ect. If the person is still an active member, I can negotiate without that info.

The more info you have on the person, the easier it will be for me to track them down.

OK, I am busy now but I will PM you all the info I have on him within the next few days.

Less than a million.
3639  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: March 06, 2013, 12:13:30 AM
The guy was supposedly drunk so the extra zero is possibly a mistake. (if the story is really to true, we ain't sure about that)
3640  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: March 04, 2013, 09:21:43 PM
I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET NOTARIZATION AND APOSTILLE.

You could probably get an advance/loan on the dividends you will receive upon claiming your bonds.

Actually this is a problem. If there was no agreement before, stating that a notarization and apostille would be necessary to claim funds, Gigamining should reimburse the costs of this paperwork and inconveniences. I am glad I have not invested in this venture.
